[00:00:00]Hey guys, it's Mr. Bell and today I'm going to show you how to divide a fraction by a fraction. Let's do it.

[00:00:06]Here we have 1/2 divided by 3/5.

[00:00:09]Whenever you're dividing a fraction by a fraction, you want to turn your division expression into a multiplication expression. You can do that by keeping your first fraction the same, 1/2, and multiplying it by the reciprocal of your second fraction. Reciprocal, what is that? Reciprocal.

[00:00:28]What is the reciprocal of 3/5? Well, we can get our reciprocal by flipping our fraction or changing the position of our numerator and our denominator. So, 3/5, the reciprocal is going to be 5/3.

[00:00:41]That's what we multiply 1/2 by, 5/3.

[00:00:45]Now that we got a fraction multiplying a fraction, all we got to do is multiply the numerator by the numerator, so 1 * 5 is 5, and your denominator by the denominator, so 2 * 3 is 6, and there you have it.
