PREPARING THE BREACH FOR REPAIR! EXCAVATING SOIL FROM FIELD! LLANGOLLEN CANAL BREACH LATEST UPDATE!Added:
Well, hello everybody and welcome back down to the uh Kangolian Canal Bridge here at Witch.
Um, so yeah, it's quite early. It's about 10 8 and um, as you can see, things are already kicking off down here.
You can see the eighth drilling rig down there is already up and in position, working.
Um, so they must have got on with that the rest of yesterday.
Uh, because I think I left about 1:00.
And um, you can see that at the minute the big excavator and the dumper are actually collecting all this top soil down here in the brereech.
And uh, they're taking us back to the compound, I believe. So, they're just getting everything ready to go.
And one thing they still do have in place, funny enough, is that pump down there sitting on top of the other cover, as you can see.
Not sure why they're keeping that in place, but maybe just in case. I don't know. Uh, yeah. So, they're getting rid of that top soil at the minute. The main thing though that we're all interested in is uh obviously the covert and what happened to it the other side.
Let's have a closer look and see. So yeah, I made the right call because nothing more happened yesterday at the gold. So I would have been sat down there for another 2 and 1 half hours or 3 hours and nothing would have happened.
So yeah, I'm glad I made the right call and went back uh because yeah, nothing more did happen. And hopefully they continue that today cuz that was uh quite exciting.
Yeah, sorry if there's a bit of background noise. The uh drilling rig is right next to me now, guys.
Eighth and final one, hopefully.
There's a couple of patches of uh puddles of water there.
The water is escaping. Same color as that. So it is to do the culvert.
And you can see here there's little tube there. Little pipe seems to cross over here.
But I don't see any brick work.
Yeah, I don't see any more brick work apart from that one pipe there.
So perhaps well there's a bit of brick work there on the side.
Don't know. It's interesting though.
Dumper's gone over there now with a load of soil. And looks like they're putting a nice neat pile over here in the compound at the minute.
Yeah. So, they're just transferring all this top soil and sand um to the compound to be stored uh for perhaps later use and rebuilding the embankment.
I still believe it's a concrete trough going through the embankment.
Um probably surrounded by embankment each side of uh soil.
So, um, yeah, they're maybe keeping this for later. I think they're supposed to be using about 70% of the materials that they, um, taken off and reused in the brereech to repair it, the embankment.
Yeah, small excavators doing that at the minute. So, I won't be starting the cover at the at the minute at least.
But the morning is still young and they could uh get on with that later. Just like yesterday morning was a bit boring.
But they actually got on with something quite exciting in the end, didn't they?
But they're doing this pretty fast because they've got the track dumper on it and the wheel dumper.
So they're getting done as fast as they can.
There's a Mexican standoff here at the minute.
Of course, they met the narrow point.
There we go. Look at that. Traffic passing each other in the bridge.
It's almost perfect because the small dumper is almost made himself made his way back so he can load or the track dumper goes and dumps his load over at the compound.
So yeah, the working very efficiently this morning on getting rid of this pile of uh you know sand and soil.
Get that out of the way ready to hopefully be reused later on in the year.
Big excavator is getting in a nice neat pile there in front of him to make it easy and quick to uh dump in the dumper.
Dumper's already at capacity after about two bucket loads.
So uh yeah, you can definitely see the difference in capacity compared to the track dumper and the wheel dumper. So when the wheel dumpers come back, we'll see how many loads he can take. And uh that should give you a good um demonstration of uh the capacity difference.
Not as quick though in the track dumper.
He's uh only just made it. I suppose it takes him longer to fill up, doesn't it?
So, it is going to be a bit little bit of overlay here between the track dumper and the wheel dumper who is already going past oak tree down there and uh getting ready to dump his load.
But yeah, they're crossing past again.
This is more like it, lads.
Love a bit of efficient work.
being lapped by the uh wheel dumper. Get out of my way.
Oh, we've got another target in the middle of the road.
He's back for some more.
A bit of argument. Father and son, I think.
And that's him loaded. Two loads. It's all he can take.
Some would argue they could do with a bigger dumper, but uh they haven't really got the room for it, have they? That's the trouble. Such a snag point there through the through the bridge. Very narrow.
I'm not sure what the tracked one's doing.
Okay, looks like track dumpers back on his way.
Two birds and one stone there.
You can hear him coming a mile away.
This one.
Oh, the wheel dumper's gaining on him.
Quick.
Hurry. It's like a race.
Oh, they're both going to be waiting for a load at the same time now.
Quick, hit with a green shell or a red shell or something.
Track D's going to put the banana peel.
Oh, I think he's submitted.
Showing off now. Doing drifts.
Let's see. He's reversed. Got in position.
Ready to leg it out of there.
Don't want to keep that wheel dumper waiting.
See how many loads he can take then, shall we?
One.
I'm going to say four.
Maybe just three.
Two.
Yeah, definitely. Definitely three.
So, we can only take one more load, I think.
There we go. You can take three. You can take two.
There you go.
Going to start giving you guys timestamps when I uh record a new section after not filming for ages. So, it is now 9:00 and as you can see, the small excavator has made himself a nice little neat pile over there. Like, he's making himself a nice little nest so he can lay his eggs.
Some of the things that go through my bloody mind. Should really keep them to myself.
Doesn't want to get away in the way, I guess. But he's heading down now.
Drop his load.
Yeah. Uh I think I take about half an hour break I think to or about 20 minute break to edit the first section of the video. That's what I do. I'll fly and then I'll come down and I'll edit.
This is how I get the videos out so quick cuz I have everything here with me. I have to do a uh clip one day of all the gear I take because it's quite a lot.
Right. So, I bought a couple of new batteries for this drone, and they're probably going to be here tomorrow, the next day, cuz of course had Bank Holiday Monday. There comes the four-wheel uh dumper.
We had Bank Holiday Monday, didn't we, guys? So, so the guy couldn't send them.
I bought off for eBay and there was only two in a charging case. So, there was room for one more cuz you get three slots in the charging case and um yeah, it's on its way. So, hopefully it'll be here tomorrow, the next day. I'm still running on free batteries at the minute. This one's on 29%.
Um but I'm going to buy a third one. I think I'm going to buy a third one. I might as well. I got a slot for it.
Uh 90 quid a piece or something used one.
I'm gonna buy a third one because I got some more donations last night and I I feel that I have to reinvest some of it into the channel. Um because I really do appreciate all the donations I get and uh yeah, a lot of it goes into uh reinvestments and um fuel. So I think Grinley broke fuel went up again. I think it's about 150 odd now. 155 is it?
I'm not sure. Got to fill the tank up uh again at some point. Getting low in the old Z4.
She's uh she's a little bit juicy that car. I'll get about 35 miles to gun if I'm, you know, driving sensibly, which I always do. So, look, he's scraping his bucket out for him.
Also, make sure you leave a comment, guys, cuz uh that's what mom does.
That's her little job. She answers all the comments.
Don't worry, she gets paid hamstly for it.
She loves doing it. And um yeah, cuz she's a very social person. So, make sure you leave a comment cuz we always answer all of our comments and um yeah, so any questions you have about anything um we can answer. So, yeah, just leave leave a comment down below.
So, yeah, the big dumper is just waiting at the minute.
You see there's not too much of a pile left actually.
Oh no, you've done it again.
Look at him.
Look at him.
He's getting really, really cheesed off with this now.
Bloody slow ass track dumper. Come on.
Have you not picked up Sully BL some uh red shells or anything yet, mate? Come on. He's a savage.
Go on. Break check him.
Oh.
So, yeah, they're both coming back for another another load of soil now.
Oh, he's not reversing in this time.
Going straight in head first.
No, now he's reversing.
Hitting him with that smooth drift there. Look at that. Beautiful.
Oh, maybe a bit too far.
All right. Come on, big activator. Get us a load ready.
Come on. I'm running out of battery.
Wakey wakey, mister. What?
Nobody's home.
Where' everybody go? Bingo.
Right. So, the big excavator is now making his uh way into the brereech. Some reason they sort of abandoned ship on uh taking apart the rest of that soil heap at the minute.
So, let's see what they do next.
Yeah, I did get rid of a significant chunk down there as you can see.
Probably about half, maybe 60%. That work is just putting the uh fence back up and then the um excavator can make his way through.
So, he's dropped the bucket at the minute, so it looks like he might be doing something else.
Tractor dumper's got another load down there just dropping off.
Yeah, it's about half full. There is the little plot of land they got for it.
Looks like the chain's been attached.
The chain's so heavy. Look, he's had to use a wheelbarrow.
But what is he going to use it on?
That's the interesting thing.
Track dumpers following suit as you can hear.
See how narrow it is down there.
Bit too narrow really, isn't it?
Oh, hang on.
Going to the other side.
There's Kieran following suit.
Yeah, I think it's just their their water butt for the drilling rig. Yep.
As boring as that is, guys, this why they stopped because they need this drilling rig, guys.
Got their samples there as well. Look.
Okay, it's all hooked up and we have liftoff.
All right, so yeah, it looks like they're going to take it down to the eighth drilling rig now.
Whoa, here it comes.
So move this down now.
Sometimes they run out of water as well and they have to fill it up using the pump at the lift bridge. Seen that done before as well. Actually thought they were doing something quite exciting then guys.
Oh well suppose it is still quite exciting.
Someone's crawling up the bank there.
And uh Oh, come on. Let's try not to take out another fence.
Someone's come to help him now.
There we go.
Package has been delivered.
You can tell what they're going to do next. The excavator is going to go back down there and uh continue with this pile of soil. Get rid of that.
So, I'm going to come land and edit a bit more on the video and we'll come back up in about half an hour and see what goes on then.
This is uh Bob and Helen. They watch the channel and uh they're they're on their last narrow boat trip here on the Clangoff Canal. The last one they ever do. So, hope they enjoy it and uh thanks for watching guys.
We were told by their daughter they're on the way.
Uh what a beautiful canal to do on your last trip. And uh the best month of the year, May.
Right. So finally big excavator is back down um with the track dumper. Loading him up with some more soil.
But uh it is about 20 to 10. So break time is very imminent and uh they won't be back out until about half 10. But that's when they started down at the cover yesterday. So perhaps they might do something like that today.
I hope so.
Cuz although this is entertaining to watch, not the most exciting thing in the world, I know what we all want to see. We want to see that culvert be worked on again, don't we?
But um yeah, we have to wait and see. Truck dumpers loaded. Here comes the wheel dumper to get a couple of loads of soil as well.
So, yeah, it's going to take a, you know, at least a couple more hours maybe to get rid of the rest of this pile.
The slow is chipping away at it.
making his way back down to the smaller excavator.
He has continued to make his pile over there.
He soon gains on him, doesn't he?
Soon catches him up.
Right. So, they are back from their break. It is caught up to 11 now. And as you can see, they just continuing to get rid of this pile of soil over here.
But hopefully I turn the camera and see the small excavator down at the culare.
And uh all right.
Looks like this is it today then, guys.
Yeah, cuz the uh small excavator is over there, as you can see, waiting for the next load of uh soil to come down.
Track dumper is going to get his load and the wheeled one is making his way back over there.
So yeah, it looks like quite a slow day down here today, guys.
So they're obviously committed to getting rid of all this soil.
in the field today.
And as we can see, there's still a significant chunk there. Still going to take them a couple of hours yet. So, it looks like this is what's just today's work's going to be.
Just focusing on moving this giant pile of soil cuz yeah, they got a couple of hours now before they go on break again for lunch and not much really happens after that.
They won't start anything new because they only have a couple of hours.
So, it looks like that today this will just be the works.
Yeah, cuz Yeah, he's done over half now. But it's going to take at least a couple more hours to get this done, I'd say.
Wheel dump is on his way back.
Where are they going to meet? They're going to cross path somewhere, aren't they?
Where's it going to be?
Yeah, he's had to give way.
Going to put in there.
Get out the way for the tracked one.
Yeah, of course. This this is a job for both the excavators. So, the smaller one can't even get on with the cover even if it wanted to until this job is complete.
The only way I see them moving on to anything else to do the covert is if they abandon this job and uh move on to that. But it doesn't look like they're doing that because usually they do that after their first break and move on to something bigger.
But today it just looks like they're going to be focusing on moving this soil.
So for once, a Wednesday is not the busiest day.
There he comes for another load.
So yeah, it's just going to be much of the same down here, guys, for the next few hours.
And I don't really see any possibility of them starting anything brand new or exciting after their lunch break. Seems to wind down in the afternoon.
So, uh, that looks like it's going to be it for today's video, guys. Yeah.
So until they wait for this eighth drilling rig here to finish and they come out with a final plan, it's going to be a little bit slow for a bit.
Well, hopefully they get on with the cover culvert. That's what I want to see.
But yeah, I think I'm going to end this video here.
So, I don't really see any chance them carrying on with uh unblocking that covert today.
Well, what do I mean? What do I mean unblocking it? It's already unblocked.
Uh making the channel for it or finding where that other covet goes. Oh, looks like they're meeting again. Meeting at a narrow point again.
Yeah. So, that'll be the end of today's video, guys. It's just coming out nice and sunny now as well. But uh I'm going to go back go 12 nice 12 mile walk. Um and they're going to have a barbecue this evening with the family cuz it's Wednesday. It's family day. Every it's only day everyone's off not working. So yeah, thanks for watching guys. Please like, subscribe, and uh stay tuned for tomorrow. I'll be back. And we'll also probably go to the Bridgewwater as well.
So, it'll be a double double day tomorrow. Two videos. See you then.
Bye-bye.
