Then in 1969, college students looked at Zap and thought, "Yes, this is where Woodstock belongs." So they organized an event called Zip to Zap. 3,000 students showed up to a town with only 300 people. The town had one bar, one cafe, and the emotional stability of a folding chair. Things got out of hand immediately because apparently if you combine college students, rural boredom, and a town literally named Zap, you unlock a side quest. Then North Dakota deployed the National Guard to stop a party. Imagine serving your country during the historic conflict known as the Battle of Zap. Meanwhile, the local bar probably made enough money that weekend to fund the town through 1987.
