Carney exposes the inherent danger of using sovereignty as a strategic bluff, where the pursuit of political leverage risks triggering irreversible economic consequences. It is a sharp reminder that high-stakes populism often lacks a viable exit strategy once the bluff is called.

Carney Calls Alberta a BLUFF—Now This is ESCALATINGAdded:
When will they ever learn how to speak to one half of the country? Seems like they never will. Seems like they never will. What are you talking about, Josh?
What a weird way to start a show. Well, yes, it is because we're talking about Mark Carney today. Continuing to pour kerosene on the already wildfire that is the Alberta Independence Movement. He uttered some words today showing that he has no idea what he's talking about.
alluding to past experiences that are have no help to what's happening here today, but claiming that his past does help with what's currently going on. And he understands everything that's happen.
I get it. Do you? Clearly, he does not.
So, we have that. Secondly, Tim Hortons is pooping their pants, a little scared, a little nervous, all of a sudden not so so fond of the TFW program, all of a sudden looking to put a campaign together to hire Canadian first. Wonder why that's happening. Then third, Chinese senator made some egregious statements in regards to Canada today and we'll be talking about that as well.
What else is new? It's all about China, stupid. Welcome to Elevate Report. I'm your host Josh. Now, let's get into our first story, shall we? So, Prime Minister Mark Carney talking about Brexit and Alberta independence. Similar things in some ways to be fair. They're somewhat similar in terms of, you know, one group of people being upset with the larger entity that they're a part of and wanting to forge their own path, make it on their own, and leave the union.
That's what was happening with Alberta.
That's the illusion or the comparison that Carney made. But it's not so much that he compared it to the to Brexit in the UK. It's what you see there. He called it a dangerous bluff.
Wow. Let's play this 45 seconds for you, shall we?
>> I will say I will make the following observation though about the question and it's uh this is an observation from experience. Um in these separation issues, it is often advanced that vote for this and it's a free option. Vote for this and we will strengthen your our hand in a future negotiation. That is a very dangerous bluff. That is a very dangerous bluff. We saw I saw firsthand what happened in the United Kingdom when the view was vote for this it'll be soft and then we'll negotiate etc. And they ended up and they're still 10 years later trying to undo what people didn't think they were voting for but what they ended up having. Well, at least Gregor Robertson's there to I guess they they've smoothed out their relationship sense. I don't know. But what a weird statement to say. Oh, the thing with this question is it's a it's a dangerous bluff. With my previous experience with Brexit, it's a dangerous bluff. I think this is the problem and the the issue that Alberta has with Ottawa and has with East with Eastern Canada, specifically Ontario, Quebec, is that they are treating this as if this is all one big game. One big bluff. Oh, they're just blowing off some steam. Not a big deal.
Then all of a sudden it starts getting more and more real. Then you start insulting and calling them all kinds of names because now you're scared and you don't know what to do about it. So you result to name calling. That's what this is. Another obvious moment where they don't get it and they continue to plunge our country into more disarray and disunityity.
Surprise, surprise. CBC reported this as well. JB Tasker says Carney calls Smith's Alberta referendum question a dangerous bluff. I guess to be fair to be fair he's referring to the question and not referring maybe to necessarily independence as a whole doesn't really matter it's the same and the same from my perspective prime minister says premier doesn't always take my advice when asked if he told her to hold off on a vote mark said on Monday that Alberta Premier Daniel Smith's referendum question on whether to hold a future referendum on separation is not helpful and that votes like this are a dangerous bluff that could backfire as it has in other places including the UK with Brexit it. Speaking to reporters at an affordable housing announcement in suburban Ottawa, Carney was asked if he had counseledled Smith against holding such a divisive vote. The premier doesn't always take my advice, Carney said in response. It is helpful to ask these fundamental questions. No, it's not helpful. Carney added that a referendum question wasn't part of the United Conservative Party's election platform and that there is no mention of it during the last provincial campaign.
H. So Carney's mad that someone did something different than what they campaigned upon. Oh, isn't that rich? It wasn't on the ballot. It wasn't in the mandate or the platforms of the governing party or the official opposition in in these separation issues. He says it is often advanced that for vote for this and it is free option vote for this and it'll strengthen our hand in future negotiation. That is a very dangerous bluff. I don't really know what the risk is here. Mark Carney, aside from I think all the risk is on Daniel Smith in Alberta on this is getting this over with now and having a vote to decide if you want to have a vote or not is really no skin off your back. It's just getting a gauge where people's heads are at. If it fails, then what's the point of having an official referendum vote?
There's no there's no use in it. So, what is the risk to you? And if it goes through, well, it doesn't mean anything.
It just means, okay, we want to have a referendum vote now. So, what is the dangerous bluff here, Mr. Mark Carney?
Is it simply because it's affecting how you can govern the country because you refuse to actually be a leader? You refuse to be a prime minister? You refuse to serve the people? You just see this the office as a way to enrich yourself and this is just getting in the way of your plans? Is that really the issue? because you've shown no interest in bettering the country, no interest in improving our lives, no interest in serving the needs of people.
It's always been about your wallet, your connections, and your plans. Cuz if this was really about securing a better Canada, this pipeline would have been signed off a year ago. And here we are a year later, people wanting to leave the country, separate from the country because your lack of action. But please tell me how it's such a dangerous vote.
Cuz let's look at the question. The question is um well, I'd say the question's a little convoluted.
It's not really even favoring those who want to vote in favor of it. It's Let's read it together. It's not the best question if I'm being quite honest with you.
Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada? There's a lot in there. There's a lot of variables in there that is going to have someone scratching their head at a polling booth. It's not simple or to the point.
There is a lot to consider in there. And if I'm being quite honest with you, that favors Mark Carney side of the equation.
This doesn't this question does not favor those who want to separate from Canada. If anything, it's going to favor those who are federalists. It seems purposely convoluted. Even the Ottawa elites are so frustrated by this question. How dare they?
>> That she will campaign on the stay side.
Uh Pierre Polyv, the leader of the federal conservatives, also pretty emphatically said this week that that he and his uh conservative federal conservative MPs will do the same.
What do you envision um you know the voices on that side are going to have to be like? Who are they going to have to be? Uh and what kind of things are they going to have to do over the summer?
>> Well, I I thought to his credit, Pure PolyB was emphatic and he was declarative. Uh and he talked about it from the perspective of if he's someone who aspires to be prime minister, then his first obligation is to ensure that he is a champion of keeping Alberta within Canada. I must say, uh, Premier Smith has offered, uh, very flimsy assurances by way of comparison. And, you know, this this notion, uh, that, you know, she says, well, I'm going to, uh, campaign for Alberta to stay here, but she talks of it so casually at a Friday press conference. Well, I'll do some town halls like I do town halls.
I'll talk about all nine questions. No doubt this question will come up. This is a engineered question to create division to ignite dangerous elements. I mean as you said yourself you know it is a question that's it's a cake and eat it two question. It invites obviously separatists to vote to leave but it also invites all others to say well you know what maybe this is a strategic vote.
Perhaps I can wedge a little bit more out of Ottawa and the other provinces, the rest of Canada, if we perpetuate this and move toward there's no downside. There's no consequence.
There's no immediate separation. So, let's just keep this thing going and see if it offers us leverage. The challenge, of course, is that that perpetuates uncertainty. And here we go. I love how every time it gets talked about, every time Alberta separation gets talked about, it's a bunch of pencil necks in Eastern Canada who are crying about it.
Who cares? Quite frankly, I don't care about Scott Reed's take. With all due respect, I don't care about Mr. Mal Care's take on it. I don't know who that Jabron in the middle is. I don't care about your takes.
We're done. And I'm I don't know over here living in Nova Scotia for goodness sakes, but I'm done listening to people in Ontario tell me how I should feel about Alberta. It's stupid. It's irresponsible and it's ridiculous. No one cares about what you have to think, Scott Reed. And guess what? It's showing. And the fact you're freaking out about that should, I don't know, give you a bit of an idea of what's happening right now. and maybe just maybe have a more responsible take of what's going on rather than trying to use your own words, ignite dangerous elements of this. Maybe people don't get it, man. I said I went off on Friday about this and I guess I'll go off on it on a Monday, too. As someone who wants to see Canada stay unified, I'm so sick and tired of these jabronies getting to talk about all of it all the time. I have to listen to them. You're not helping the unity crisis. You're not helping Albertans want to stay. You're not giving them any faith for why they should stay. Have your cake and eat it too seems to be the message of Ottawa.
We want your revenues. We just don't want to listen to you. How's that for having your cake and eating it too? Cuz we move on. This is a shift in the narrative, isn't it? Tim Hortons launches campaign that aims to recruit 10,000 new local team members. I wonder why that is. It's funny CTV kind of hints at it here with the Dunkin Donuts logo. What potentially has happened that's caused a change of heart in the executives at Tim Hortons? All they've been telling us that they can't hire locals. They've been telling us that no, we need the TFW program cuz no one wants to work for us. All of a sudden, you figured out the funds to get together to recruit 10,000 local team members. Don't think I'm an idiot. We'll be keeping a close eye on it because we know you'll find some way to to try and be able to pay slave wages to somebody. So, we'll be keeping a close eye on this. However, for the sake of the headlines and having some fun today, cuz we're having fun right now, this is a shift. How all of a sudden do they have the ability to make that shift? I don't know. Could it be that thing that is so evil? That thing I've been told by leftists is the worst thing that's ever happened to humanity.
Could it be competition?
Capitalism?
Is that what's causing the shift because people are sick and tired of Tim Hortons taking advantage of temporary foreign workers paying them slave wages and choosing to hire them over Canadians?
Could that be the issue?
We've been told and gaslit by the government and Tim Hortons that hasn't been the issue. All of a sudden it is.
They're admitting it. It is. People are sick of them. What did I say when this headline dropped last week? What did I say? If Dunkin Donuts really wants to win, hire Canadian only and you will blow Tim Hortons out of the water. Of course, this is a response because I'm not going to take credit for that idea. Many people have been saying it and Tim Hortons has heard it and they said, "Uhoh, we're gonna have direct competition and they don't want, you know, we don't know what their plans are, but if they don't engage in the TFW program, we're screwed. Guess we got to favor Canadians now. Give me a break." So, what happens when you sell off your your Canadian companies to foreign entities? But last but not least, I had to post this. I had to share this. This is crazy. Chinese senator, okay, a Chinese senator said 10 years ago in Ottawa, a Chinese foreign minister, Wang Yi, firmly defended China's right to pursue its own path of sovereignty and development. A decade later, China's rise in infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, technology, and global trade reflects the result of its long-term focus on sovereignty, development, industrial capacity, and strategic national planning, elevating China into a leading economic and geopolitical power. The country that once spoke to China from a position of superiority, now approaches it with a far greater respect and pragmatism.
Recent international polling, including Gallup's latest global approval survey, also points to China's growing international standing. As Canada confronts mounting economic challenges, and growing concerns about external pressure and influence, the importance of economic strength, industrial capacity, clear national priorities, and long-term national resilience should not be underestimated. Countries that remain focused on long-term development and national interests are often better positioned to protect their sovereignty and navigate an increasingly uncertain world. And this is coming from a Chinese senator.
Of course, we can totally see like all the CCP talking points in there. Look, China's so great. Look at what we've done and now the people look down on us now respect us. This is something you would expect from a Chinese senator.
Makes sense. However, it's not a Chinese senator. It's a Canadian senator.
Is this more evidence of foreign interference in our politics?
How on God's green earth are we allowing and standing for the likes of Victor, Win Pa Woo, and others continue to push CCP propaganda on our tax dollars. Give me a break. I don't give a crap about Beijing. I don't give a crap about China. I don't give a crap about the CBC covering China. I care about Canada.
Canada first. Canada all the time. Why do I have to sit and listen to people on our tax dollars propagate CCP talking points in our Senate?
Give me a break. Is this for real right now? These guys got to go. Like this is psychotic how him, Senator Wen Pa Woo, and other elements of the media continue to hold water for China. It's crazy to me. But if you dare were to Hey, I think I see where the Americans are coming from on this. We should adjust.
Traitor.
You hate Canada. Move to the US. Chef them out. This is where we're at, man.
This was small. This was a small thing.
I had to call it out, though, cuz this is ridiculous, man. And it will be continued to call out. I'm huge on kicking China out of Canada. huge advocate for kicking Beijing influence out of Canada. And I do not care what names you call me, what you propagate because this is what they do. This is what they do. This is reported by the bureau. She exposed Beijing's secret police.
Now it's AI Pword deep fake smear her as Ottawa signs a pact with the same Chinese military. This woman has been the sole focus of a coordinated attempt by the CCP because she uncovered the nonsense that they're doing. And that's the exact same entity that we just did a weird security with and that we have senators propagating their talking points in our Senate.
These are the things they do. These are the people they are. I have no interest in hearing from anyone advocating for this regime. Not a chance. Freaking ridiculous. I will be going hard on China all day and all night until they get out of our politics, get out of our country, get their police stations out of here, and leave our people alone.
Anyone who's fled China to come be in a freedom loving country that's clearly turning more and more to China every day, I'll be fighting that tooth and nail. You You fled China for freedom.
We're going to give you freedom and we're going to fight off this communist dictatorship out of our country and kick them back to Beijing where they belong.
But anyways, I'll leave it there. Have yourselves a good one. I know.
