District 9 Runoff: Alex Mealer projected winner over Briscoe Cain

[00:00:00]A familiar district, but with new boundaries. As a result, new players have been making the push. A congressional district nine was recently redrawn by Republicans, which really forced a very interesting showdown. Uh Alex Mealer, who ran for Harris County Judge and a few years ago and had the support of President Donald Trump, went up against State Rep. Briscoe Cain, who had been endorsed by Governor Greg Abbott. Mario Diaz is in Baytown, where this fight was short-lived.

[00:00:25]The best way to describe the battle between Briscoe Cain and Alex Mealer tonight is to compare it to a championship boxing match in Las Vegas.

[00:00:35]This was a first-round knockout. Give the win to Alex Mealer. She made very short work of the state representative.

[00:00:43]Once those early votes from Liberty and Harris County came in, it was obvious this was her win, her victory. She addressed her supporters inside of O'Neal's here in Baytown. She also spoke with us. For me, this was phase one.

[00:01:00]That's the whole point. It's trying to make sure that we can hold the house, pass an America First agenda, and I'm excited to get the opportunity uh to really deliver real results for the hardworking families in this district.
