Turbocharger performance depends on proper matching to the specific application rather than simply selecting larger units; key factors include compressor wheel design, turbine wheel characteristics, bearing type (ball bearing vs journal bearing), intercooler efficiency, and exhaust flow dynamics, with ball bearing turbos offering faster spooling and reduced oil consumption compared to journal bearing designs.

Sharks, are you tired of tuning tools that don't have a soul? Introducing the Tune Paws, the greatest tuning tool since the laptop.
Maxwell, I'm out.
>> I can't believe what Billy is going through. I should head to Ohio and give him a big hug. Imagine if the kids call me uncle. That would be awesome.
I don't know why. I don't even know why I do this.
It's ridiculous.
I don't I don't even look like that.
>> I mean, I see the resemblance.
>> That's just me.
>> That is just me who sees it. I don't know. I mean, that looked pretty legit.
No, >> I'd have to say >> like Love Island or something.
>> You were on Love Island and that's what you bring out.
>> That's some [ __ ] you watch.
>> That's some weird [ __ ] >> Uncle Tes and Be's nose.
>> Sorry. Okay, get your [ __ ] together, Terry. Stop [ __ ] around.
All right. Sorry guys. Welcome welcome to the Sunday night [ __ ] show. Best day of the week. It's not Sunday. It's Monday. Sorry we messed up. Look at the Am I delayed or glitching or what? Or is that just on my end?
>> You're slightly delay. Well, I mean you move that fast for sure.
>> Okay. So, I got to slow down.
What's up everybody? Sorry.
When I found that one, I was so proud of myself. I said, "Oh, this is perfect."
With all the news going on these days, this will be the best intro. My intros only get better with age.
>> So dumb.
>> That's my favorite part of the day of things to do when I sit on the toilet for 20 minutes and do the intro.
You know, so your legs go numb.
Oh boy, there are a lot of comments fired up today. What time is it? What time did we start today?
>> I'm pretty sure they only >> I think it was 8:15.
Could have been later. What's up everybody?
Let's say hi to our friends. I saw a lot of banter between them all, so I'm not going to go through all that.
>> Oh my god, there's 70 comments, Eric.
>> It was mostly about how hairless you are and what N products you use.
>> Perfect. I like that. What's happening?
What's going on? Who's this? This is somebody new. Maybe some symbols and stuff.
Uh, shout out to Patrick Sees. Hooked me up this weekend. And when I mean hooked me up, I thought Angry Orchard finally kicked in that uh that um sponsorship deal.
Yeah. Still waiting. Look at this.
Bam.
>> Oh my god.
>> Patrick got me enough angry orchard probably until end of August.
>> He must know a sales rep or something.
>> So cheers Patrick. Shout out to you.
This is for all the Mustang gays out there today. I put this just for you.
>> There's one of them in the chat. That's it.
>> That's okay. I know they don't like our podcast.
>> I heard he's a car show guy only now, though.
>> There's a lot of car show only guys.
What's happening? How's it going? What's up, Tommy Cook?
Oh, man. What a weekend. What a weekend.
What's up, Scott White?
I'm gonna try to say hi to everyone. Our usual suspects are all on here.
Sorry guys, there's a lot of comments.
So, what's up James Glenn? We got the whole family on today. Must be a busy Yeah, it's always Terry's fault. It's never my fault.
>> No, I've been on here since 5 o'clock.
>> Every now and then I think it's hard to get Terry away from the pool, but I think it's mostly Mike. is normally 100% me.
Uh, who else? Oh boy. Yeah, see, she knows. Deer, don't play.
Who else we got? Who else? Everybody was chatting. EMTT's in the chat. What's going on, brother? Didn't see you this weekend because your dad doesn't like getting passports, but that's fine.
We'll get him there one day.
Oh, standard comment. Got to hang out with Ben this weekend.
>> He probably typed that at 7 o'clock though.
>> Yeah, probably.
>> I know how he does.
>> Troublemaker number one in the chat.
>> Slinging that merch. Slinging that merch this weekend.
Uh, who else? Who else?
That's [ __ ] idiot.
Look at that.
Terry sent me my baby oil for the week.
>> Restock them.
>> Jeremy knows. See, he's learning.
>> Oh boy. I'll be in the shower when Mike goes live. Yeah. Well, then you miss those. You never want to leave this podcast in the beginning. If at any time you're going to leave, you leave after the intros. You know better than that. Come on now.
Uh, everybody talking to each other. We got our boy Pegalo's in the chat. Pegalo should have been there this weekend.
They had a stick shift class.
>> No, car show guy. I told you.
>> Big car show guy, but also a daily driver class that looked like >> he could have been >> this guy right off the rip.
Uh, what else we got? What else we got?
Bagel's doing car shows. Sorry, I'm just catching up here. I didn't read any of this.
Shirts. Patrick, don't eat the lettuce.
Yep. It's happening. Robert from across the pond. Robert's always in the chat here.
The [ __ ] I just saw this comment.
Like a a hairless cat, as they say. Oh no, now I highlighted all of them.
>> And there's a lot of comments. All right, we're almost near the bottom.
Stephen Cox in the chat. Hope you got that pickup almost fixed up again.
Oh, Mike changed his name.
Maybe >> that guy's name looks fast.
>> Play it again.
>> We might play the intro again halfway through the show, but right now we're going to get >> I deleted it already.
>> No, we won't.
>> Yeah, I deleted it.
>> What's happening? South Central Flag Company was out there making those badass trophies. I I talked to him already about maybe doing something for Orlando. That would be cool. Something different.
to Javier. See what he says.
>> Nice. Maxwell Maxwell just hacked up a hairball if you guys could hear that.
>> Not King of True Street this weekend.
Close but not >> big loser.
>> George Michael.
Oh my god.
See this podcast. Savages. All savages in here.
What's happening, Ryan? Ryan was there at KD this weekend. We all worked together, which was nice. Our B our boy Mike Mark, [ __ ] can't even speak tonight. Was at 519, we'll get to that in a little bit. Um, and nice first timer on the podcast.
Welcome. Welcome. This is our sanctuary of freedom of speech and pretty much everything goes.
So feel free to make your comments and we'll try to post you up.
Uh what's happening?
And I think I'm at the bottom. Nice.
That's the shop this week. Awesome, Stephen. I love that old truck. It's badass.
Did you know? Did you know that the first round was against a hard tire?
Did he know?
Oh, I think he was talking about uh that orange truck, >> the orange S10 I raced. He was >> like two tone like a >> Yeah. And he was smart. He stayed on a hard tire because he was racing hard tire.
>> Yeah. So, he got some >> talking in the pits about it and I said I do the same thing like if I'm racing and I know I'm not going to win, I'm not saying he didn't have a chance of beating me. That sounds wrong, but if you feel like you have a disadvantage, it's better to uh run the tire you're going to run and get that data for whatever class you're trying to win at because we do that too and small tire.
I'll run the radio will lose.
>> Yeah.
>> But it useful useful information.
Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Normally the Sunday nights we do this at 8 PM, but obviously because of traveling I got we got to do it sometimes on Monday nights. So, shout out to Max Wilson. Hate y'all to Bale was watching. Yeah, trust me, it killed me the whole ride home.
So, we might as well start getting into it. Oh, Batista's in here. He had to change his name. Obviously got caught by the Facebook police.
>> Put his real name out there.
>> Welcome, welcome, welcome everyone for the first time to the podcast. This is what we do. This is our >> in the ditch soon.
>> We swerve that car into the ditch real quick here. So, there >> if you are under the age of what, 16, may want to wear ear muffs during this podcast because things things can get out of hand.
>> What's happening, Chad? Chad's got that badass old truck that we've been tuning on. Uh, trying to get it going faster and faster. Really nice unit.
>> Yep. Absolutely.
All right, Terry, you take over the uh comments and I'll get going here. So, uh I'm sure all of you know and if you don't know, this weekend was Katie Cash Days down in South I just spilled all over myself. South Webster, Ohio held by Happy and Limpy and Kenzie. I should include Kenzie in that too because she pretty much does all the work. Happy just wanders around [ __ ] >> she's the boss >> jerping people and screwing screwing around while Kenzie does all the work.
But Happy did flag this event because as some of you may know and some may not, Limpy was a little under the weather so he couldn't make it. So shout out to Limpy. Can't wait for him to come back.
He is the goat. So, when you're on a slick Friday night for the tailgate class or did you just No, I just stayed on a radial Charles all weekend cuz uh I didn't even I don't even think I had slips or maybe they were in the trailer, but there was no point switching because I was doing both classes. I felt it would be more ideal to concentrate on the radial tire. So, we ran radials all uh all weekend.
So, we went down to Ohio for Katie Cash Days. We've been there a couple years now. Um, we were going down to enter obviously number one the tailgate class. We've won tailgate class uh the last couple years.
So, I wanted to keep working away at that, try to win that again. And then the other class we run is True Street.
And then we were hoping to run the radio class because we're on radios. So, we could get in three classes this weekend and get a lot of racing in. That's the nice thing about these two-day events when they um have a lot of classes like that. I know some people don't like events that have a lot of classes, but honestly, as a racer, I do because even how they break things up, like the first day they had run what you brung, so all the small tire guys got in run what you brung. So, it's like having two backtoback small tire races in essence.
And there were a couple big tire cars in there, but honestly big tires like you don't see many big tire anymore, especially at no prep. I mean, we see ton of big tire and bracket racing, but that's completely different.
So, we got there Thursday. Uh, it was hotter than [ __ ] death there. It I don't know. First driving down, we went through all the smoke coming from these goddamn Canadian fires.
>> Can you believe those guys?
>> Believe those scumbags. You know what's funny >> is when you read the comments and stuff, it's like we're doing it on purpose.
Like we're up here.
>> Hey guys, you know what we should do this week? We should burn our houses down. This would be [ __ ] amazing.
Just to screw the Americans. Let's do this just to screw the Americans.
>> Send some smoke down there.
>> Yeah, because they never have forest fires south of the border. No. Unheard of. Florida never had a fire.
California, none of these places ever had fires. [ __ ] scumbag Canadians.
So, I don't know. Those comments make me laugh. All this [ __ ] about like >> Yeah, we have a Here's a news alert.
Canada's like 95% forest.
>> Yep.
>> Like anything 12 hours north of where I live here. Nobody even lives there.
>> There's nothing but forest and trees.
>> So when people are like, "Oh, you know, they should do better brush clearing and shit."
>> Brush clearing.
you who's going to do the br like actually we haven't imported a lot of people that could be something to work on. We could start sending them up there to clear brush all day.
>> Sending them? What do you mean by them?
>> They them. All of them.
>> All of them.
Uh um we have a haze down here now by War in the Woods. It made it Oh yeah, 100%.
Driving through Ohio, like northern Ohio, it was thick like a fog. It looked like fog midday. It was just like crazy.
So, on behalf of Canada, to the racing world, I apologize that we're smoking out your country.
I hope you can forgive us. We're scumbags.
>> That should end it right there. No more I'll call Trump. Trump in the morning. We'll have a sit down. Maybe he can open some new racetracks. That would be badass. Like one in South Florida. Maybe he can overturn whatever [ __ ] there is down there to build us a racetrack. That would be awesome.
I know it's nature. It's just funny.
It's funny to read like even [ __ ] what's his name there? Cooper started going off about how it's ruining his vacation. Talk about white privilege.
That's [ __ ] white privilege in the finest. It's ruining my boating vacation. This is horrible.
>> Yeah. Don't mind the people that are [ __ ] burning to death. worried about their [ __ ] voting vacation.
>> I don't know. People are funny, man.
The glory of the internet, you know. So, after driving through the smoke and after a week of having smoke up here where it looked like the end of the world was coming, the one morning I woke up and I said, "Yes, it's here. I've waited my whole life for this. It's time to lock and load, baby. We're going looting.
We're going to scavenge. We're >> We're ready for the the zombies are here. It's time to start popping off.
>> I've played this game before.
>> I've played this game for years. I'm ready for it. I've been waiting for this day. But sadly, it wasn't the apocalypse. It's just smoke. I got to fix my camera here.
There we go.
So, smells smells like hot beavers 100%.
I'm completely I'm completely fine with that. We can do that.
Y'all are forgiving. Thank you.
Appreciate it.
Uh hot beavers. That's funny. All right, so we got to KD Thursday. Hung out with the boys. You know what? There wasn't a lot of people. I'm sure people who watch Ben's stream, everyone was hiding. It was hot. It was miserable. Not many people were hanging out. It was kind of like uh a dead night. So went back to the hotel hotel, chilled out, came back Friday morning, somebody [ __ ] turned the thermostat up even more >> because you walked out of the hotel and it was like I felt like you had a samurai sword, you could cut that [ __ ] right in half because >> it was gross. Like you know what I've noticed? It's hot in Florida and you know this obviously, but it's a different hot. Like that was like dead air. Like there's no breeze. It just feels like you're stagnant. Like you know when you go in your trailer, let's say your trailer's out in the sun and you go in there and close all the doors.
That's what it feels like. It's just like dead air. Like stagnant.
>> Yeah. Horrible.
>> So, uh, Friday was miserable. It was hot as hell. Um, we got the truck all ready and then we entered in the true street class and tailgate class obviously and racing started around 7ish I believe. There wasn't really anything going on Friday, just straight racing.
So, our first pass we made was I forget.
True Street was first, right?
>> That tailgate. Yes. So, we go to chip draw. Funny story.
>> Go to chip draw. The first person we draw is the only other Canadian that came with us again.
>> Same thing happened at War in the Woods.
This time we weren't first pair at least. But what are the odds that this happens back to back? At War in the Woods. drew. We drew the only other Canadian in my class that I race with all the time, a friend of ours. And then this time I drew the guy that I help Ryan with the red Camaro who I help with some track stuff and tuning stuff and we work together all the time. And he came down and I'm like, "Okay, cool." You know, hopefully we can push both cars and get to the finals or something like that. You know what I mean? No, first pair. Not first pair. Sorry. Well, first pairings, third or fourth pair down. So anyway, this was our pass ready to send. I am my knock.
He normally goes for a scenic drive.
>> He says he usually goes for a scenic drive at the top of this hill.
>> Yeah, normally. No scenic drives this weekend.
>> No, I was surprised.
>> I figured a couple things out with the brakes on that truck, so it was a lot better this year. But definitely sparks.
Good thing we put those sliders. Yeah, that's for real. That's what Happy said.
He goes, "For the Canadians, we make the chips bigger so we know which two are the Canadian guys."
So sadly, I mean, good.
Good and sadly. I mean, it was good. We moved on. It was sad we had to take Ryan out.
>> Yeah, >> like I said, I was hoping we'd avoid each other till the end and push both cars, you know, to the semifinals or the finals, something cool like that. But it is what it is. It's must pay tariffs.
Yeah, that's how we pay. I'm starting to feel like they're a little scared of us, so they just group us together every time when we come racing. But us Canadians bring the smoke with us.
There you go.
So, the sparks underneath, for anyone wondering, are I weld sliders on underneath the truck for that place. I mean, that's one of the very few places that the truck scrapes like that.
>> That was stressful, too. I forgot about that.
>> That was extremely stressful. So, to answer your question, uh, when I pulled up to the line and did my burnout, I realized two of the hood pins or I have so how my hood is in the front that's got certain style pins and at the back they're like push down click lock pins. So, when I did my burnout and I stopped, I saw the hood flip forward a little bit and I was like, "Oh shit."
like only the front pins are on the hood and going that fast I mean it's almost guaranteed I'd rip the hood off or rip the it probably would rip the hood off with the amount of wind and everything.
So, uh, I asked Happy when I pulled up to the line. I said, "Hey, can you pin down the hood?" Like, press the I thought they understood how those pins work. Like you press down.
>> In fairness, that is how they work >> in fairness. But >> because the truck is janky, >> okay, >> you can't just Okay.
>> You can't just press down on the hood pins because the locker underneath when you press down also presses down.
>> So, what do you have to do? You got to go underneath with your hand, hold the pin up, >> and then press the hood down.
>> Yeah.
>> So, I was trying to explain this out the window to them, and I'm going, >> you got to press the pin down, but hold the bottom. So, now they're holding the pin, and they're squeezing the bottom of like the push pin part, not where it [ __ ] like the pin. And I'm yelling at them. I'm going, "No, you got to go from underneath, hold the pin, and lock it in." Because once it's locked, it's locked. Like you can rip on that hood.
It's not coming off.
>> It's just the tabs that I welded holding the pins flex when you press down on them a little bit.
>> It's I'm the first to admit it's janky.
I did it fast, but it works. Anyway, >> I kept telling them and kept telling them and then I'm like, you know, this ain't going to work. I got to get out and just do it because nobody's going to put this [ __ ] hood on properly and I'm going to lose the hood if I make a pass. So, I had to get out, clip the hood, get back in. Luckily, it was Ryan and not some [ __ ] [ __ ] you know, who starts honking and freaking out. So, sorry, Ryan, about that. That really wasn't intentional whatsoever. I just I just to say what?
Yeah, I had to just go and do it. But no one understood. I was watching them pushing the pins from the bottom, like putting their finger in the hole and press. I'm like, "No, no, that's not how these [ __ ] things work."
Anyway, very stressful, but that's how racing goes sometimes. Sometimes, another funny story was right before we raced Ryan at the same time, I'm airing out the tires. I look at the cow tracks and the pin, you know, how they have the pin where the leaf spring hits the pin.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. The pin's hanging out like just dangling there.
>> I saw you laying on the floor in the staging lane >> the driver's side. I just happen to check the air pressure. And when I check the air pressure, I look underneath and I see the pin hanging there from the cow track. At some point, the C clip that goes around those uh those pins on the cow track, one of them either broke off or fell off. I don't know how a C clip could fall off. It must have broken.
And uh yeah, the pin was just dangling out of the hole. So I went back to the trailer. I got a bolt and I ran the bolt through the that bushing, put two nuts and washers on each side, zip tied behind the washer so that the fin wouldn't move in and out. And we ran the truck like that all night.
In the morning, I went and got C clips from AutoZone. But yeah, like I don't know. I just got lucky there on that.
>> I saw I saw you laying on the floor messing with him and I thought, what is he doing? If that pin came out, it probably would have done some real weird [ __ ] >> Yeah, >> because the one leaf spring would have had pressure on it and the other one would have been loose like flexing >> like Yeah. I don't know. It probably would have pulled one way or the other.
So, yeah, it is. It's uh anyone who thinks you can go racing by yourself at this caliber of racing, not that I was by myself, but without like a crew of people, it is extremely difficult because there are a lot of moving pieces going on.
>> There's a lot of little parts for every car is different. Like until you've learned it.
>> Yeah. Like everyone in our crew has a job, you know what I mean? Ash was taking videos, selling merch.
>> You normally help me with the truck or Brad normally helps. Like there's always one guy helping with the truck who takes care of all these things. You know what I mean? I'm not used to having to do all that stuff myself or when we travel normally there's other guys from Canada.
And Ryan and his dad helped us backing up and stuff like that. But I didn't have like the normal crew guy. I guess I'd call like the guy who goes over the truck. Patrick helped too. Patrick was learning but again he's not part of our crew like our normal. He doesn't know how all the stuff works, but he learned and he he was helpful. Like everybody was helpful, but >> it's just different.
>> It's a lot >> when I go like that by myself. It's a lot because normally >> maybe I'm um spoiled, but normally I get out and I go in the trailer and I just concentrate on the tube.
>> Now I got to get out. I got to check, you know, all the [ __ ] over. One of the passes we came back, the turbo system started leaking and I dumped oil from the top of the hill all the way down the to the bottom. I was on the last half court when it got to the bottom out of three and a half quarts. So, >> yes, nobody knows all the jankiness.
Terry does.
>> It just takes time.
>> Expert at the jankiness.
It's funny. Yeah. You know what I did?
Honestly, to to bring everyone up to speed, this was a horrible week for me in the truck.
First of all, the Dominator that I had in it started doing some really weird [ __ ] with the AFRs and started cutting the sensors out. So, I was losing O2 sensors randomly. So, I had to change the Dominator this week to a newer one and send this one in for repair hopefully. Then I went to go to the track on Tuesday. The water pump died for the radiator as I was loading it in the trailer. So, I had to change the water pump at the track.
Then we get to the track. I find that CalRA [ __ ] falling out of the truck. The Calrack pin. So, random.
Uh the oil system starts puking [ __ ] out of it everywhere. It was just like very frustrating, but hey, we got through it.
That's racing.
Uh it always sucks and there's a handful when you have to Yeah, 100%.
Yeah, there's just there's so many moving parts that even if uh there you go.
Perfect.
There's so many moving parts in a race car and so many different things, right?
Like, like I said, I'm I'm spoiled because Brad, uh, Jeremy, Terry, they kind of know the truck now, so they know what to do between rounds and stuff like that. So, everything gets taken care of, so I don't really worry about it. But >> yeah, it was pretty bad.
>> What?
>> No, it wasn't.
Uh, you know, I'm learning the truck, but trust me, I don't forget.
Thank you.
That's funny.
These guys, they're bad.
>> It's horrible.
All right, so that was first round.
Next, we went into the true street class. Second round >> or no, tailgate class. Sorry, I jumped.
We started in True Street. Then we went into tailgate and we raced the orange truck that was in the chat earlier talking about how he was on a hard tire.
He might still be in >> last year too, right?
>> Yeah. So, he was on a hard tire, but like he said, he's going to make this test pass and same with us. I mean, our first pass wasn't the greatest, so made some adjustments and this was a second pass on the line.
from the left and he keeps it hooked up.
He stays out front enough to take the win. And >> he made a hell of a pass on hard tires beside me to be fair.
>> It was sweet.
>> That was a great pass.
So, we made a really good pass, too. We shaved a few tents on that pass. So, I knew I was getting in the right direction. The track was tightening up a little bit, too. So, um, yeah, it was a good pass. I came back, I was getting confident now. I was like, "Okay, we got I changed some of the shock stuff, changed some of the tuneup in places."
Um, just kind of, you know, you know what I do? The usual [ __ ] Yeah, the 60 foot there was very sticky.
I mean after the first round um we were doing wheelies every pass after that. So that moved us on through Tailgate and then back to True Street. I believe we raced uh Hot Mess who we were in the semi-finals with at >> Woods Woods earlier this year in the morning there at [ __ ] 8 a.m.
>> Yep. Y >> he knows this out by a bumper. So >> he beat your ass.
>> This was our stuff.
>> I'm just saying >> he beat me. Yes.
>> I was almost there. Inches.
>> Vin Diesel would say that 79 Fairmont lined up left hand lane.
get in trouble, Billy.
>> We both lost the tire at the same spot.
You see that?
>> That that race I was worried about. It was early in the night.
>> Both cars unloaded at the same spot.
Now what some people if you've never raced KD the 60 foot phenomenal after that straight garbage like >> falls off y >> bumps uh what do you call it stepups like it it's ugly it's ugly out there so you need to 60foot get out in front of that person and then just try to hold on for the ride. So, yes, we got our redemption pass, which was nice.
Yeah, it was it's sketchy out there. I don't think people realize it's extremely bumpy. The worst thing for a leaf spring vehicle is extremely bumpy.
I'll be honest, because I was explaining this to someone at KD, too.
With a leaf spring, you want the front shocks tight and stuff. And same with the rear, but then it doesn't absorb as well when you get out further. So, you almost need shocks that you can adjust in the cab. So, they're tight when you start and then loosen them off as you're going down there so that it has it's better absorption as you go down the track. But sadly, I don't have those shocks if they make them. And if they make them, I'm sure they're [ __ ] very expensive and >> super cheap. Yeah, I can't afford them.
So, we just make do with what we got.
So, that was our True Street pass which carried us on through True Street and then I believe in Tailgate or was it True Street? I got to buy one of them. I >> True Street you got to buy.
>> Oh, True Street. Okay. So, we went back into Tailgate. We raced the blue truck.
Was that next?
Must have been, >> I think. Yeah. Well, we'll see right now. This was uh second round of tailgate.
And we got a lane cross out of the right lane. That means figuring it out. That was another bit faster.
Now I was getting more confident. Now mind you, I feel like the left lane was the better lane. If I were to choose a lane, I would have chose left. They weren't crazy different, but that right lane seemed to be bumpier. The 60 fts were about the same, but in my opinion, the left lane was the better lane for my truck.
Uh, would air shocks do that? I don't know because you'd still have to adjust them on the fly.
When are we going into It's still early.
In due time, >> we'll get there.
>> We'll get there.
The left was definitely better. Yeah, in my opinion, I would have taken the left if I had the option of the two lanes.
Yeah, you wanted to come hang out in my lane for a bit.
I went last fall down. Yeah, exactly.
Left was best. There we go. So, that was the general consensus. Left was the better lane.
So, with that, we moved on in tailgate.
We went back to Oh, then we had a buy in True Street because the other guys had already had buys. So, I was the only one who hadn't had a buy run yet. So, we got a buy. I chose not to take it because I already knew what we knew. We were I was happy with the times we were running. I was happy with how the truck was performing. So, I'd rather just instead of risking breaking something or uh you know wearing down the tires for no reason, we just sat out our buy, let the truck cool down because it was extremely hot. Double classing and the weather being that hot is not ideal for any kind of vehicle. So, we gave the truck a little break to cool down because then we had two finals to be in.
So, the first final we went in was the tailgate final, which was the super important one to me. I actually won both coin tosses in both finals and lost both coin tosses.
I've never seen someone get how do I let me rephrase that before that comes out of my mouth. Wrong.
>> I picks all the time. Okay. So, >> just lost.
>> Yeah, I lost both times.
>> Uh, no, with that new cooler, uh, it wasn't actually that bad. We did have enough time to cool it down. So, yeah, I chose heads for both coin flips and lost Oh, no, sorry. I chose tails for both coin flips and lost both coin flips. So, the guy that was in the finals of Tailgate was also in the finals of True Street and obviously picked left lane for both of them. So, as per usual in the finals, I get the worst lane, but we made do with what we had. I wasn't overly concerned because they weren't that different. You know what I mean? I would have preferred to have the left lane, but redheaded stepchild, that's the truck.
It would have You know what? I should have as we were walking up. I said, "Do you have a lane you prefer?" He's like, "Not really. I should have said, "Why don't we just do one and one to make it interesting?" You know what I mean? I'll give you the left first uh tailgate and I'll take the left and true street. I should have just done that, but whatever. Anyway, what to do? So, we got right lane for both passes. So, here was the tailgate final.
Good job, both of them.
>> Absolutely killing it. Side by side to the finish line.
>> He came up on me quick cuz I lost the tire on one of the bumps and I pedled for a second and I thought I was far enough ahead of him that it didn't matter. And then I looked over and I was like, "Oh boy." And I stabbed the gas again cuz I saw his headlights come up beside my head and we went through the stripe. He was at my door. Y >> his headlights were at the door handle, so he was he was coming.
>> But we got to pull that one off, so that was awesome. We got another tailgate uh trophy, which were badass. I love those. And then we went into True Street right after. And it felt like complete deja vu. I loosened up the wheelie control a little bit because I was trying to soften it coming down not so quickly and that was probably a bad decision on my behalf. So, I take full responsibility for I should have just left it alone. But I loosened the wheelie control a little because I was trying to get it to wheelie and then come down a little bit softer, not come down as quickly as it was coming down. And what that ended up doing was actually let the wheelie go up higher, which I'm not going to go into how the wheelie control strategy works, but the higher the wheelie, the quicker it's going to pull you back down to earth, which is very bad for unsettling the suspension. So, no, Terry would have never approved that, but Terry wasn't there, so I was on my own. Asked Maxwell, and Maxwell gave me two paws up, so I said, "Fuck it. That's said that dumbass.
>> Yeah, the truck was quick. There was no room for error there. So, and I knew that going into it. I knew he was going to make the same pass again. So, So, I [ __ ] up. It is what it is. I wanted to win both, but sadly.
I was happy for him, though. He's never won anything at KD, like never won a class, so that's cool. I was happy it went to someone, you know what I mean?
>> Who's never won uh one of those trophies, so he was super pumped.
>> Yes, a lone scientist is dangerous. I should have called Terry.
>> No, they did. They did work all night. I mean, Super fast truck. No doubt.
>> Probably didn't touch a thing. He didn't. Or he probably didn't touch a thing. I know I didn't.
>> Yeah, I'm pretty sure he probably ran exactly the same time he just ran the pass before because uh Yeah, I know what I ran and it was not the same time as the pass before.
The good thing is my Yes, absolutely.
Now we take all that data and reference.
The nice thing now is the truck everything on the truck is working now. We're not changing converters. We're not changing transmissions. We're not changing flying here. We're not changing any of that stuff. So now this data will actually be useful. The problem in years prior is we've always had issues.
So that that is kind of uh >> There he is.
>> Oh, I turned it up and definitely lost ET in the second files. Yeah, there you go. That's what I mean. Like I think we were at the limit of what that place will hold. Do you know what I mean?
>> Yeah.
>> Cuz I was thinking about it. I'm like, we could try turning it up, but when I looked at the drive shaft curve compared to everything, we were already starting to slip a little bit. And I was like, I don't think it'll take much more. The only thing you could really play with was the 60 because that's where uh that's the only place you had really like good traction. So, you could try to 60 harder, but out back it just, at least for me, it wouldn't take anymore.
>> Uh, I don't think >> Probably not.
>> Probably not. Let's be honest. I mean, traveling that far, I don't think.
We definitely didn't make money this weekend. It was nice to I mean, it's better than not winning anything. I'll put it that way.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Went there and won zero. I mean, every little bit counts, but to tell you that I went there and made money and came home with money. No, we spent more than we made.
>> I think he chicken What's chicken footing? Like got scared?
Is that what that means?
>> I got to Google it. I don't know.
>> I don't know either.
>> Chicken foot. That's probably a Canadian thing.
Patrick definitely lost money.
>> Patrick Patrick [ __ ] that RV up. Patrick lost money before he even got in there.
>> I felt bad. That was a nice RV.
If anything, Patrick, when we passed you on the highway heading back to New York, the driver's side looks amazing.
As long as you stay in the far lane, the far right lane, no one will even know.
Florida.
Chicken foots. Chicken foot's definitely letting off when you think it's getting Oh, yeah. I got you. Maybe I did.
Is that to me?
>> I hope so.
I'm the nice one. So, >> what's the next stop? Probably Billy's race. 304, I think, is the next one.
Savages.
Front bumper looks fine. The whole driver's side looked great.
Hey, it happens to the best of us, trust me. Just look at my car trailer. I lifted it up with the Bobcat and it fell off the forks and [ __ ] the whole back door up.
Yeah. No one will ever know.
Yep. Chicken foot sprained. Well, what? Yep. Chicken foot.
Well, if you will. Okay, you're Floridaian. I couldn't get past the Y >> like Jimmy Wops. I say >> I'm sure Terry will fly out for that one. Terry ain't doing [ __ ] Bar's too busy in his garage now working out. Look at how skinny is >> skinny ass.
I had to I feel you, homie. I feel you.
Absolutely.
Are we sp No dictionary tonight. That time was that night was a little hectic. So now uh Saturday. Okay. So that was Friday night. So we won uh tailgate which was awesome.
Super pumped about that. All the girls came out as always.
>> I guess you photoshopped Happy in there.
>> Yeah, photoshopped Happy in there. The women were there, but Happy wasn't.
>> Yeah, >> he would never. And >> yeah, that was that. So, we went into Saturday morning. Uh, in the morning went picked up some supplies to fix the truck because the truck that [ __ ] track, you want to talk about abusing things? That track is the hardest abuse on any vehicle. Every time I leave KD, there's all this [ __ ] So, we did a full nut and bolt. I got new C clips for the slider that was falling out of the cal tracks. So, we put new C clips. We tightened up all the oil system. Made sure it was all perfect, clean, zip tied some stuff as usual to help hold it.
>> We call those.
>> Yeah.
>> A bunch of speed fasteners we put on the truck to add to the other speed fasteners.
If you would have seen, you would have loved how I put that first uh when I put the >> I'll admit to it.
>> I don't want to know.
>> I'll admit to it. This is race car life.
When I first saw that pin fell out, I grabbed two of those. You know those industrial zip ties that held that hood that time.
>> You're an idiot for that.
>> Yeah. I put two zip ties through the the pin. Two of those, one on each end.
Tighten them super tight because I thought we were going right to racing. I said, "When I get back, I'll fix it properly.
And it was holding it. I bet you they would have held it.
>> Your ass.
>> I think so. But then we had a few more minutes and I was like, you know what? I should probably do something a little safer. We don't need to [ __ ] plow this truck into the wall tonight. So, I went back and put the bolt.
>> I saw it on the live stream. I said, "What in God's name is he adjusting the cow tracks for in the staging lane?"
>> Oh, >> I wasn't adjusting them, Terry. I was trying to put them back. I was putting them back together.
>> Making them janky.
>> Yeah, I janked them up. But I did a good MacGyver job. It held all night, so I'm proud of myself. Anyway, Saturday morning, bright and early, hot as hell again. Not as hot as Friday, but thank God, but still plenty spicy.
Um, fixed up all the truck, met a whole bunch of cool people in Ohio there. We got uh sold a bunch of merch, had a bunch of fans come by, say hi, which was awesome. Signed some shirts and stuff like that, which is always cool for kids, and talked to a bunch of kids and some other dudes that were there. And uh yeah, hung out all day. So, this is I was hoping Happy was going to come on here because this was a question that a lot of people brought up to me Saturday night, and I was hoping to get an answer from him. I was trying to put it together in my head, but and maybe you can think or people in the chat can figure out why when you know rain is coming in the evening, do you wait until the evening to start racing?
That was the part that confused me. And I know a lot of people came by my tent.
I don't know why people always come talk to me. Maybe because we do this podcast and they want us to bring it up.
>> Talk about it.
>> Well, I'll talk about everything. I mean, I love Happy. He's my boy. And I'm not uh talking [ __ ] about the event. I just I don't understand if you look at a forecast and it says rain's coming in at 9:00 or 7:00, why you don't start racing like they did on Sunday at 10.
>> Yeah.
>> You know what I mean? Like we could have done the first three rounds of whatever classes they were planning to run Saturday and then if it would have rained, we could have waited and then finished them in between when they dried the track there.
>> You think they were waiting on people because that was the schedule was drivers meeting at 7:00. You think people were still driving in at 3, 4, 5 in the afternoon to start racing? I mean, I don't think so because most of them were there Friday. But that's not my point. My point being is if you knew already, like everyone knew Saturday was going to rain. It was in the forecast. It was in the forecast from Thursday. So, as a preemptive strike, I would have said, you know, why don't we start racing at 10 on Saturday? You know what I mean?
What was the difference between doing that Saturday and Sunday?
Now, here's where my brain went. And like I said, I was hoping Happy was going to come on because I wanted to ask him cuz maybe I don't understand the reasoning or don't know the reasoning.
So, I'm trying to figure this out myself.
So, in my eyes, what I thought is maybe spectators because they got to work Saturday uh don't get off until 5 plus. Now, I understand when the weather's fine, why people want to race at night because it's cooler, it's not as hot. Like that part I completely understand.
>> Yeah.
>> But if you're going to attempt like the part that kind of bothered me was they did it Sunday morning, which is awesome that he even did it. I mean, a lot of people wouldn't even do it. But if you already knew it was going to rain Saturday, why didn't we do the same plan Saturday morning? Because it brought the same amount of spectators Sunday. Do you know what I mean?
I feel like especially when people are traveling like it it really sucked. I mean this is the second time that's happened to us.
>> Mhm.
>> And the same thing happened at the last Katie.
Remember we all waited until the afternoon and then the rain came in and [ __ ] the whole thing up.
>> We tried to drive when we >> Yeah. when we could have raced earlier in the day and it didn't rain until like 6 7 like if we would have started at 10 you probably would have had most of the racing done in my eyes now I'm not running the event I don't know what's involved like I said I'm just speaking off the cuff here but I don't know that was a thing I was thinking about Saturday because we literally sat there all day Saturday in the sun anyway Okay. Doing [ __ ] all, sitting on our hands, walking around, talking, hiding in the air conditioning.
Like, I spent most of the time in Patrick's RV, hiding in the AC. You know what I mean? Because it was hot out. I would have rather been racing at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday >> and been able to get in that radial class.
Then at least, you know, if it rained, let's say, and you've already done three rounds, like there weren't that many cars there. That's just the reality. Um, I think that's the reality for a lot of events this year and that's fine. It's not always about volume. It's about, you know, quality of vehicles.
But I think if we would have started Saturday at 10, they probably would have finished the race Saturday or if not Sunday morning, you know, for finals worst case.
And then I would have stayed if it was Sunday morning for finals.
So, I don't know. It was just a little frustrating for me because we really wanted to run radio like and then I drew Tommy and that pissed me off even more because I wanted to race Tommy. You know, that's one of the top tier guys out there and a true street style.
I mean, his car is not really true street, but I'll accept it. Whatever. I still wanted to race Tommy. Like, I was looking forward when we drew chips together. I was like, "Oh, this is going to be awesome." You know, I've been wanting to race the Falcon forever.
We're on our game now. So, I think it would have been a good race.
>> Yep.
>> But instead, I had to go home because I can't stay Sunday when we're that far away from home. I mean, we still got home at 8:30 and we left at like 11 or earlier. So, it just it's disappointing when you're going that far. And I was just thinking it was we were sitting there Saturday.
I was like, why aren't we racing now?
You know what I mean? Like, everybody's here. They're all just sitting here.
I didn't see that many cars pull in.
maybe for the daily driver stuff they but again do the daily driver stuff then at night when it's over or I don't know like I said not my event but it just sucked that part sucked and a lot of people I think thought the same way and then they did the Barbie race like there was just I don't know it was just a lot of things that I was like man like Trevor says [ __ ] those kids meanwhile it's adults there are no kids in the Barbie race >> but I don't even I didn't watch the Barbie race. I heard there weren't even a lot of >> six or seven.
>> Yeah, that's what I mean. And then we did the Barbie race which put us back even further.
And then by the time they started doing the daily driver race, then the [ __ ] second band of rain came through. So I was just like, "Fuck, man. We sat here all day for nothing realistically." And it was hot. Like it was sunny hot all day until it rained.
So anyway, that's that's my little rant.
I mean, like I said, I like Happy is my boy. I'm not trashing the event whatsoever. It was more just a question on because a lot of promoters do that.
Like I see things where it's like, "Okay, racing starts at 7:00. Okay, but the weather's coming at 7. You have all these people from all over the country.
Why don't you start it at 10:00?"
>> And I think it's just for spectators, to be honest. It must be because most of the racers are there. Or if you see the forecast three days before, just tell racers, hey, you know, instead of starting at seven on Saturday, you got to be there at 10. So if you're coming to race, I mean, you may lose a couple cars, but I think you lose more people when you try to push it to Sunday.
That's just my two cents. I don't know.
Like I said, it was just frustrating for me because I was really looking forward to running radios, but like I said, I can't leave there at four o'clock.
>> Yeah. Yeah, if I left there at 4:00, we get home at like 4:00 a.m. and then work the next day. Like, it just it doesn't work.
Anyway, there's the rant for that.
Again, if Happy comes on here, maybe I can ask him. I did invite him, but he said he was going out for dinner tonight.
>> Hell yeah.
>> If there's a chance like that, I think you should plan an early start till I agree. I agree 100% and I think a lot of people agreed with that.
>> What does that say? Tommy would have waxed my ass.
>> Yeah.
>> We'll never know though, will we?
>> I'm sure we would have too.
>> Yeah.
Who's Tommy? I don't know. Tommy's first pass wasn't the greatest.
Yeah, I get it. Nobody knows. I'm not saying I would have beat Tommy. It just would have been fun to race Tommy instead of having to leave. That's what I'm getting at.
I agree. It would have. Let me I don't know. Terry, what are your thoughts? Big talker over here.
I mean, like Chris said here, he kind of said they knew it may rain Saturday, so they were going to probably use Sunday if they needed to. So, I think that was really his his idea was he did know it was going to rain and he pretty much >> But that's what I don't understand why why plan for Sunday when you can just start earlier on Saturday.
>> I think >> most people were there from Friday night already.
>> I think it's just safer if you're trying to actually finish. If you start early and you get rain and you can't finish, are you still going to run into Sunday?
Like I think he was trying to pick one or the other. I think it's safer to reserve Sunday >> knowing you can finish then try to start Saturday and also use Sunday.
>> I don't know.
>> And the fact that he had already said Sunday now to go back and change it again.
I don't know. Just a lot.
>> Yeah. No, I get that part. I'm saying just start earlier. Don't say Sunday off the say Sunday morning if we have to, you know, run finals.
Then we'll run finals on Sunday morning.
You know, I'm I'd be better with that than starting the race on Sunday is what I'm getting at.
>> Yeah. I mean, >> do you know what I mean?
>> Oh boy. What was that? That me dinging.
>> Mhm.
>> Nick sent the photo. Oh, he said Nick was gonna come on from True North. I don't know if he will or not.
>> So, yeah.
Sundays are made for travel unless it's Memorial. Yeah. No, I agree.
>> Yeah. It just it sucks when you have to leave. You know what I mean? Sunday is not a good day to be racing when you're not from around there. I mean, if we're doing a race locally and I'm two hours from home, I get it. No problem. or if I don't have a job and Sunday's just another day like but a lot of people you know a lot of people work like have actual bosses too you can't you change stuff up Chris I don't think people are completely [ __ ] [ __ ] I mean there's a few but >> there's a lot >> [ __ ] is what happened unforeseen it's All I guess like I said when people ask me I I said in my opinion I think it's just for spectator count. If you start the race earlier it's more convenient for the drivers for sure. But I think spectators expect to be there. I don't know though. You don't think spectators would come earlier Saturday morning?
Mhm. I don't know.
>> I mean, if you ask me if I'd rather go see a day race or a night race, I'm going to a night race.
>> I mean, obviously to see it. But would you rather go to a night race and sit in the bleachers and then it rains and you leave and you went there for no reason?
Cuz that's what those spectators did.
They got to see eight daily driver passes and then they >> No, I wouldn't go. Well, I'm just >> I wouldn't go if it was during the day.
And then if I knew it was going to rain at night, I also wouldn't go.
>> So, you're not going?
>> I ain't going. I ain't [ __ ] going.
>> Yeah, I'm sure there's a good reason, too. Like I said, I'm just I have no idea.
What does this say? If Tommy had a great big golden horseshoe on his butt on Sunday, he only actually made one side by side pass, and that was in the finals.
Yeah. Well, sometimes you get lucky. I know a few people that have pulled that one off. Don't we, Terry?
>> Um, don't start. Don't start.
And I will say having resched.
>> No, no, I don't. Again, that's not what I was saying. I was just saying instead of sitting around all day Saturday, it would have been cool if we could have just started racing instead of waiting for the rain in essence and then it rained and then all that effort to dry it and then it rained again and they only got daily driver test passes in.
Uh, anyone know the car count? Uh, Friday, don't hold me to it. I believe run what you br was 14.
Uh, tailgate was seven. True street was 11.
Uh, the other classes I have no idea. I don't even know what the other classes were. 26es. I don't think we're a lot.
>> Yes. At least you know what I'm doing on Mondays.
>> Thank you.
>> The helicopter was dusty from all >> the blades when I landed it last time.
And the yacht is down in Florida. Yes.
And I had my waxing appointment. My nipples were getting a little hairy.
>> Oh, that place has been a late night start ever since I did events there. I get this. You got this.
You can start an event any [ __ ] time you want. There's no It has to be late night event.
If it's your event, you could start it at 7 a.m. It's your event. You do what the [ __ ] you want. Doesn't have to be late night. I understand they want it to be late night, but sometimes you can't always have what you want. Just like me right now.
>> Oh, here we go.
>> That's what I'm saying. Anyway, we can move on. If Happy comes on, we'll ask him.
>> Yeah, it was good racing Sunday. I watched it on the way home. I wasn't driving, but I was watching.
Maybe change.
>> Uh I was just wondering didn't look No, there wasn't a huge car count, but it was good racing for sure.
>> Y >> you and Tommy can race the day. Billing perfect.
>> Never.
>> Anything happened Friday night like after racing? Yeah, the back of my eyelids cuz I got to the hotel at 3:00 a.m. That's what happens.
>> Anything else happen?
>> The vibe, bro.
It's the vibe. Gota have the vibe.
>> Yeah. Not that. We got to wax the nipple hair. These guys are all jealous. I'm [ __ ] >> smooth as a baby's butt.
>> Smooth. Smooth as a 14-year-old.
>> It's ridiculous.
There was some stuff that went down after 2 a.m.
>> I don't know what you're talking about.
>> These guys, >> they're just >> Oh, yeah. There were definitely some tweakers. I saw some [ __ ] tweakers out. Anyone who's ever been to uh Portsmouth?
Portsmith.
>> Portouth.
>> Okay, Terry, let me ask you this.
>> No, >> because I got corrected a few times.
I'm going to write how it's spelled in the chat here.
>> I'm going right there. I'm going Google Maps. Let me just see where you're at.
>> This is where I stayed. How do you say that?
>> You see my comment? Look.
>> I mean, it's it's unfortunately Portsmouth.
>> Portsmouth, right?
>> Yeah.
>> I said when people ask me where I'm staying, I said, "Oh, I'm staying in Portsmouth." They go, "Oh, Portsmith."
I go, "Where do you see Smith in that word?
That's Portsmouth."
>> You got to be from around there.
>> And they're like, "Oh, yeah, Portsmith."
I'm like, "Portsmith? No, no, I'm in Port's mouth." Like the mouth of the port.
They're like, "Oh, yeah. Portsouth." I'm like, "Okay, sure." Anyway, pork's mouth mouth.
I don't know. Anyway, it's porks in my country. It's pork mouth.
What is It's pronounced gay, dude.
Yeah, it should be called the ghetto oneway town because all the streets are one way and if you go there at 3 in the morning, it looks like the walking dead out there except they're all on fentanyl >> zombies.
>> I went to the convenience store and the only people in that place I went to get some Gatorades cuz I was thirsty and some chips and a little pot of halfbaked uh ice cream because you know at 3:00 a.m. you need some dinner.
>> Gotta have it. Ben and Jerry's.
>> A little Ben & Jerry's >> go in there.
>> Weakers, bud.
>> Walking Dead. That one guy staring at me. I don't know if he's staring at me or staring through me or I don't know.
>> Both.
>> Both.
>> He looks like he probably hadn't slept in the last three weeks.
There's some uh Yeah, they pronounce Ohio as a I should ask Chris Lane.
He's from there. Portsmith. Yeah, that's that's facts right there.
>> God.
>> And you know what's funny is I swear on the table or somewhere everyone said because I normally stay in Iron Iron.
Again, >> I'm probably saying it wrong. Iron tin.
That's where we stayed last time, remember?
>> Yeah.
>> And it was decent.
>> Yeah.
>> And you know what? The first night when we drove into Portsmouth >> Yeah.
Except some people say it's the best steakhouse ever. That's what I mean. You get so many mixed things. But the the first night driving in, I don't know. I haven't seen anything.
The first night driving in there, it actually looked like a decent little town, but we were early. I think we drove in there at like >> 8. Yeah, >> sun's up.
>> Once I think they can go >> once the sun goes down and you get past midnight, the street walkers come out.
>> What's happening, Alex?
Yeah, like Yeah, exactly. That comment wins. That's true. So, anyone going to Katy Cash days, you have been warned.
You better get back to your you better get back to your hotel before 3:00 a.m.
because out come the the night walkers and the you see the the shopping carts with garbage and then they fight. We saw them fighting with shopping carts knocked over.
I I mean it could be very entertaining walking around at night. If you got some uh what are those things, you know, in medieval times with the the long sticks they do on the horses? Jousting.
>> Jousting. Yeah.
>> If you got some jousting sticks, I'm sure you could get two of those guys with those shopping carts to pop off in a little joust. Like a street joust. Be pretty sick.
There you go.
Good old Night Walkers.
Like, how about your weird chips? Which ones? Happy Like, I don't know. He didn't tell me. I gave him a bag full of stuff.
Did anyone talk about No.
Yeah. Nothing like walking into Happyy's camper and he's pretty much butt naked on the [ __ ] with the door open.
I don't know. Alex would have to tell you. He was there. I wasn't even there.
We'd left by that time.
Yeah. Dusty told me he hung out with us for a bit too at the trailer.
He said the wiener flight. Yeah.
Happy ate too much lettuce. Damn right.
Yeah, we could have done like bomb fights. It would have been cool.
Absolutely.
So, that was pretty much it. We headed home Sunday morning, packed up and northbounded down and yeah, got home around 8:30, 9:00 after a long drive. didn't have to stop at stomach because we stopped on the way down. And for everyone who's on here or watching, so you know, I'll be dropping uh the full video.
Sweet, sweet thumbnail. I designed it myself. Uh on our latest YouTube video, which will be a more in-depth look into our trip this weekend. Like I told you guys, I've been working really hard on trying to get footage for you guys and putting up videos as often as I can. So, >> this is accurate. We've discussed this before.
>> There's another word I heard that was funny this week. Ashfalt. Y'all pronounce it ashalt.
>> Or at least that's what Yeah, we're we're paving asshalt today. That's how we say it. Ass. Asphalt.
>> How's it spelled?
It done got an H in there.
>> Are you sure?
>> I mean, it does, but it's not.
>> Oh, go ahead. Put it in.
>> Where's the P?
>> How do you spell ashalt?
>> Hey, >> what's the correct spelling?
>> There's another word I heard that's funny. Ashalt, >> yeah.
No, >> Terry makes fun of me all the time >> because I'm like, "Oh my god, look.
They're paving new ashalt." And he's like, "What?
>> How do you say it?
>> Asphalt."
>> Asphalt.
Why is that? But how do you spell it?
>> It's spelled the way that it's spelled, but >> we just like this.
Yeah. Ass fault. Oh, there's no H. Ass.
>> There's an H, but it's just in between.
You got a P on there.
>> PH.
>> Yeah. Patrick put it.
>> How do you pronounce PH?
>> Ash. Ash.
>> How do you pronounce PH?
>> Fat farm.
>> Fat with it. It sounds like a [ __ ] >> ash. Ball.
>> A S.
>> As a L.
Ash. Oh, so I [ __ ] up the H.
>> You don't. That's how you guys say. We just say it >> ashall >> differently than Canadians do, for sure.
>> I wonder how Ben says it. I bet he says it like me.
>> We We pronounce the PH is an F. So, but you guys don't. You ignore it completely.
Yeah, that's how you spell it.
>> Horrible comments on here.
>> You guys, they've been in the ditch.
I'm just glad we could discuss all this.
Yes. Thank you, >> brother. That's how you say it. Pass.
All right.
>> I'll try >> I'll try to correct it.
>> You don't have to.
>> You put the H before the P.
>> Jesus.
>> You guys say some weird [ __ ] too.
stuff this weekend of people talking or some people were talking to me and I'll be honest, I don't know if that's >> Yeah, >> different language.
>> I didn't realize English had so many dialects.
>> You were in a good part for that.
>> Oh, yeah.
V Canadian slang tone is stronger.
Probably >> we love y'all. Y'all's a big one with you guys. And there's something There is some saying and I hear it all the time and every time I go it's missing a word in the as you're talking but everyone says it the same and I'm trying to think of what you say and it sounds so funny every time because it's like missing a word.
I don't know if they were lizards or hogs, but there definitely were something. There were a couple yins. The [ __ ] is a yins?
Y'all, that's me. No, that's Florida, too. They say y'all.
Yeah, Kentucky has some slang, too. Like when when Happy says washing. No, >> what does he say? Wash.
>> Wash with a Yeah, like an OU.
>> He's making my balls. I'm like, what the [ __ ] is that?
>> Oh, washing.
>> Pittsburgh term for all of you. Oh my god, the comments are going so fast I can't click on them. Yons. We're gonna get We're gonna end up being >> This is the urban dictionary. Yeah, >> and y'all is east and south slang.
Worsh. That's it.
Worsh. Worsh.
God. Awful.
>> Worsherer. Worshing. And rrestling. I've heard rrestling, too. Oh, those boys were out there rrestling.
Good one.
I think that goes both sides of the border.
>> Yeah, that's universal.
or dabbage.
That's funny.
Well, I got to get to some local stuff here for our local guys, too. I'm sure all of you would be interested in this.
Maybe not. Yeah, southern accents are pretty funny.
These guys are all going to start having a war against the states against each other on here soon. Rrestling. It is real. It's rrestling. And don't forget it.
So, this weekend was also uh that was pretty much it for cash days, right?
>> Yeah. You got your ass beaten true street.
>> Yeah, got my ass beat.
>> Barely won by barely won in tail gate.
>> My tuner was gassed.
>> He was definitely gassed.
>> He was over it.
>> Way too overweight for that kind of >> Look at him.
>> Look at him. Like a little goblin.
thighs. God awful.
>> It's so wore out. Oh, we got a picture from the top of the hill, too, for anyone who's never seen it. Pretty wild stuff.
>> The only racetrack, I think, in America that you go up a hill like that.
>> Sweet.
>> I may be wrong, but it's the only one I've ever been to.
And when Terry said I got beat bad and or I barely won a tailgate he was at your door. Yeah.
>> I told you it was at the door.
>> I'm pretty sure they protested that finish line because they knew >> they protested.
>> Yeah.
>> Gave me an extra hund.
>> Damn it.
>> In the pot.
>> Free no charge.
>> Show a clip of the rain.
Tommy was going to drag that ass, but she said she was homesick.
[ __ ] you, guys.
>> He's on fire.
>> He's on fire.
>> That's a gap. That is a gap.
All right. Well, locally 519 had their uh front side this weekend.
>> I saw them here earlier.
>> We're gonna give a few shout outs to some of the local boys here. that was also going on on Sunday. Sadly, I was on the road heading home, so we couldn't make it. But there were a couple cool cars there. Uh there was Frank's GTR Mustang.
I think there's only one of one of these. Some of you might have seen it at SEMA. Uh he basically transplanted a motor from his GTR, but it's rear wheel drive. uh it's not all-wheel drive into a gay fox body and now it's trance. So here it is.
I don't know what that other car was beside him. It looked like uh >> I don't know. Do you know what that was?
>> No, I wasn't looking at that.
>> Oh, that's some weird tail lights.
>> Trying to get my head wrapped around that GTR Mustang.
>> Can't forget the gangster turnout.
We're in the woods.
How many cars were I? I missed all of it. Obviously, I wasn't uh at War in the Woods. So, how many cars were at War in the Woods? You can write it in the chat.
>> I didn't watch any of it or if it was even possible.
>> Yeah. I don't know. Did they have a live feed? Wasn't Cory doing it? Cory's >> I thought he was.
>> I don't know.
>> Not like he was.
>> I'll wait for the comments in the chat.
Uh yeah, looks like a Ford Daytona kid car.
That's possible. That might have been what it is. Then our boy WDY, who nobody's seen, uh the Grinch >> for a while, brought out his car and he raced uh Slick Rick.
So, this was their pass.
Heat. Heat.
Ricardo with the upset.
>> Oh, >> Rick beat the Grinch. Whoa. Rick Ricky's on a roll lately.
>> A to B. That would get you every time. A to B.
I just killed me. Yeah, Ricky for the win.
Oh, it looks like they did have a live feed. 660 TV was doing a live. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
Last time I don't think they did, but maybe they've uh lifted the ban.
And then next we had John Dogado's new car against uh BMS's old car, which now I don't know if Baja owns it, drives it.
You never know. They pass these cars around like [ __ ] you know, one year this guy's driving, the next year another guy's driving. I don't know who owns the car. It's had like [ __ ] multiple drivers. So I I'm guessing Baja owns the car now, maybe. Or maybe he's just a driver.
It's hard to keep up. But this was Baja and John Legato's past. John, this is John Legato's new car, which is a [ __ ] bad unit.
That car is serious unit. John Legato's new car is going to be one one of those ones.
>> I don't know how it does on a backside yet, but on a front side, it's bad unit for sure. And I think this is the first race they've taken it out to. They just brought that car out. So, you can imagine as he does passes, it's going to get serious.
>> Street car.
>> Street car. Then we have our boy Mark with his uh old school pickup.
Uh he's been around since the OSO days.
Mark's been around actually since the dinosaurs walked. Him and Limpy knew each other. Yeah.
>> Yeah. I remember seeing pictures of them at the last supper together. They're the guys just off at the end of the table that you can't see.
>> Just having drinks. Yeah.
>> Yeah. They're just having drinks. Mark's >> Mark's pass against Ron Charlton who >> I raced at Warner Woods first.
>> Here's Ron and Mark. Heat. Heat.
I don't know if these guys know where 660 ends, but it looks like they were both running quarter.
>> Seriously.
>> It sound like Mark's truck was still on it down all the way to the quarter.
I really miss finish line cameras on these clips and live feed. I know it's always nice when you have the finishing live finish uh Nick. I see you down there. We're just finishing these clips then we'll bring you on or I can bring Nick on actually while we finish this.
We got Nick from True North Turbo joining us tonight as well. He just logged in here. talk some turbo stuff tonight if anyone's interested. And now he's gone.
>> Had enough of your [ __ ] >> Oh, he's coming back. He said one second. So, we'll get Nick on there.
>> There's Mark. Yeah, he said he's blowing through the converter. So, he's got some new converters. So, now Nick's back.
>> I know that. I know that feeling.
>> Yeah, Mark, we've been there. Trust me.
No banners got stolen this weekend, but one guy did come up, like I said, on Ben's live and he said, "Hey, do you mind if I have one of those banners?"
And I gave it to him. So, >> all you got is sometimes all you got to do is ask. But if I saw you cutting it off the fence and trying to run with it, I would have tased you.
>> Yeah, definitely would have got the rock elbow or something.
>> Yeah, probably would have tased you. I was waiting all weekend to tase somebody. walks around with that elbow pad just for that.
>> You should see him once that shirt comes off. I mean, then you can see the elbow pad.
>> You're in trouble.
>> Yeah, he does the whole thing. There's like he you I've seen it.
Yeah, Patrick took them all down for me.
That was nice of him.
Patrick, I should have given You should have taken the other one. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I know he has one of our event banners, but I don't think he has one of the sinister banners or >> eyeballs do.
>> But there's nothing that makes me laugh harder than cop videos when they tase people and they do the fish where they stiffen up and fall forward and they just like one shot right off their feet and they're straight like a pencil.
>> Boom. And just eat them around.
>> Idiots. Oh, I love it.
Oh, signatures.
I didn't sign.
>> You gota pay for those.
>> We're going to welcome Nick on the live here while we finish off the end of these videos.
Did it come up? Says he's up.
>> I don't see him here. Nick, you here?
No.
That's >> doesn't work.
>> I'm here.
>> I'm here.
>> What are you [ __ ] ghost? Where's your camera?
>> I don't have one right now, my friend.
>> Oh, it doesn't even put you on our chat then. Like, you're here, but you're not here. So, you're just >> you're like Normally, you get your own square.
>> Oh, yeah. Ask for an avatar or something. That's it.
>> That's weird. Why doesn't this avatar show? I don't know, but I'm I'm trying to get with the program he's got going.
I just sit at the bottom and >> and just talk.
>> Yeah.
>> So, no one will even know he's on here, though.
>> He's just on here. It's like he's in the background somewhere.
>> Just snuck in.
>> Now, we got the logo >> there. We'll put your logo in the top.
>> The logo up top. All right.
>> Nick is in here, but he's not in here.
I've never seen that before. Normally, it just puts That's weird. Is it maybe because the setup I have? Hold on. Let me try something here.
>> There.
It might have been the way I have this thing set up. Like you can do it like this.
>> Yeah, cuz now he's there.
>> No, I don't like that one either.
>> That one's fine.
>> Like this.
>> Yeah.
>> Hold on. Let me see something.
>> Yeah, that's Oh, >> no. right back.
>> Well, welcome Nick. We can't see your face cuz you're >> Oh, it's all good, man.
>> You're just a turbo. But >> talking turbo.
>> Talking turbo.
>> That's exactly it.
>> Use er What's Chris saying?
>> User error.
>> Oh, user error.
Yeah, >> we're just finishing up these.
>> Go ahead, Nick.
>> All right. No, it's all good. You guys do your thing and Yeah, I'm here when you're ready.
>> All right.
Uh, we only got a couple more clips, guys. So, we got uh Paulo and Lucas. I think this was in Extreme Street.
Welcome, Paula.
>> Nitrous over turbos. Yeah, there was a lot of drama at our home uh in the instantly on 519's uh Facebook page about Paulo being in grocery getter class and in extreme street and they're like, "How's a car that's in Extreme Street going to be in grocery getter class, too?"
>> So, you fit the rules?
>> Yeah.
>> So, you mean how can a guy that is got a grocery getter compete with the guys in Extreme Street? Is that really what they meant to ask? Maybe.
>> Oh, but it sounded like they rephrased it.
>> Canadian racing has been known a time or two to complain about cars that are fast and try to rule out people when they're in class.
>> That's all racing. That is all racing.
>> Yeah, that's true.
And then we got one more pass. A John Legato and a blue car. Maybe someone in the chat can tell me whose blue car this is.
[ __ ] me.
>> [ __ ] me. Our camera guy, our undercover camera guy just exposed himself.
Perry, everyone says you look kind of pale. Are you feeling okay?
>> No, actually I think I am getting sick.
But that's not really >> Oh, you're getting sick. These guys notice that.
>> The only sunlight I get is from this computer monitor. I agree. Har's going for Trackhawk white.
>> Thank you.
>> Or Michael Jackson pale.
I don't know why, >> Terry. This question's for you.
>> That's not for me.
>> All right. And then we got all the finals here. So, or some of the finals.
We don't have all of them. Uh, the grocery getter final, Paulo versus looks like a Camaro.
looked very close.
>> He probably just >> tight rac >> I think it was foot break in that class.
It had to be foot break. No trans break.
And then I believe it was Paulo in the extreme street final as well. Same car.
That was a much closer race.
>> Yeah, >> definitely closer race. And then finally, we had the small tire finals.
Things are rocking.
I love the commentary in the background.
>> So, yeah. Looks like John Legato's car.
Why are we so Mine's so glitchy now?
I think we got to go back to making Nick uh ghost. It made it really glitchy.
Oh, there we go. How come this one works? Nick, you still with us?
>> Just in spirit.
like the Holy Spirit.
You sure?
>> All right. It's your time to shine. Quit putting it on mute.
>> All right. Yeah, you're always asking me to come on here. I'm here. What's up?
What do you want to What do you want to talk about?
>> Oh, nothing. I thought we'd bring you on. being one of our sponsors here and providing us with those badass turbos that you make. I thought it would give everyone an opportunity if they had questions, turbo questions to ask you. I know uh let's hear a little bit about like what is True North Turbos? What do you do? What do you offer? What what's what's the deal?
>> Okay, so yeah, True North Turbos uh started a few years back. Um, essentially we were dealers for a few different turbo brands and honestly we weren't happy with some of the offerings. Um, I myself I do have turbo experience. I started I probably started messing around with them. I don't know. I was still in high school at the time. Um, our next door neighbor was had a turbo repair business and so I'd go hang out with him and we do a lot of stuff like Frankenstein, different things and you know it was mostly just like everyone else. It kind of started out in the racing industry I guess you could say. started off in some of the important DSM stuff and uh kind of went from there and yeah, basically I spent uh almost 20 years doing CNG, natural gas compressors and turbines and pump stations and got tired of it. I said, you know what, let's do uh what where my passion is, what I really want to do. So I was like, okay, let's start building turbos again. That's kind of how it all started out.
>> Nice. So, is a majority of your turbos in the diesel world or is it like 50/50?
Like you do a lot of street car [ __ ] race car stuff. What is >> So, well, I kind of started it. I did it a little bit ass backwards. So, I started to do performance stuff. I was doing re the odd reman here and there, but I started doing performance stuff.
And I was really really fixated on basically compressed wheel design at first and I you know I'd start with a design and then make small tweaks until we're happy and like things have evolved to the point you know we're starting to use some fairly lucrative software and stuff like that which it's kind of I don't know it's pretty expensive for what it really does after you learn you know what changes do what and how the compressor wheel actually works. um you get to a point where it's almost not necessary, but >> it's it's pretty interesting stuff. A lot of people tend to fixate on turbochargers, like when they just hear a number, they're like, "Oh, it's a 6867 or it's a 88 103 or whatever." Just because something is a particular size, doesn't mean all turbos are created equal. That's a big thing. Like there's a lot of turbo brands out there and there's brands in the industry that you know been doing this longer than I've been alive. And it's there's so much more to it than like what a lot of people think. People get hung up on the little things where you know they'll go purchase a turbocharger from a company and they'll be like hey I want to run twin 76s and you know they have a let's say they have a six liter. Well, >> you know, they they go buy twin 76s with like a 9688 turbine housing, but they thought because it's in a T4 or 9680 turbine wheel, but it's in a T4 housing, so they thought it would spool great and it's just an absolute donkey, you know?
So, it comes down to like you you got to design the compressor wheel and the turbine wheel to the application and so on and so forth. So there's there's a lot there and it's honestly it's pretty fun. And I'd say that's probably one of the biggest things for me that um m I guess the most enjoyable things for me in doing this is seeing those changes and then seeing what you guys do with it real time.
>> Yeah. No, because uh we used to run FIS back in the day as you know.
>> Yep.
>> Uh we've tried the VS Racing turbos.
We've tried the pulsars. I mean, I've been through a bunch of different turbos myself and up to date, it's very impressive.
Whatever you're doing, like I'm Terry and I are part-time scientists. We're not really full-time engineers like yourself. So, >> we're getting there.
>> We're getting there. But it's it's very interesting, like you said, that not all turbos are uh the same. You know what I mean? Like you can compare the same whatever specs I guess you call them.
>> Mhm.
>> Front side and backside specs, but it's crazy how different like the turbos will react depending on whoever designed.
Like we have your website. I don't know if you can see the live while you're on it here.
>> Yeah, I can see it. Yep. But I'm just going through your website here a little bit to see all the different offerings and you offer such a like a vast selection of different turbos for different applications. But what I liked about dealing with you personally was when I talked to you, I said, "Listen, here's, you know, here's our setup.
Here's what we're doing. And here's the problems I've had in the past."
>> So with the rear mounts, we've had a lot of spooling issues. We've had a lot of, you know, different issues and up to date and I'm a straight up person. If they sucked, I tell people they sucked.
Your turbos have been the best that we've had for fixing all those issues.
So now the turbos bite very easily. Like even the VS ones, we went to dual ball bearing and they were fine. But coming back to your turbo, like I just personally didn't like journal bearing turbos. My truck has never really liked those turbos. It didn't matter who made them. They just weren't happy on my truck. But >> yeah, >> now switching from the Chinese ball bearing turbos back to your prototype turbos that we have now, I'm happy that I'm back on True North turbos because they spool faster. Like everything, the mid-range is back. Like I was noticing when we had the VSS turbos that we lost all that mid-range power that I don't know what you do. I don't know the science behind it. You would know a lot better than I do. But it's interesting to me that you can just switch turbos for the pretty much the same size >> and they're so drastically different in characteristics. You know what I mean?
>> Yeah. Like we've we've had we've encountered some situations. Um, I mean, I'm not going to name names because I don't believe in bashing any companies or anything like that cuz there a lot of guys out there, they work hard and they do their own thing. Um, but like we've had instances, for example, with our 88 uh with with the 10392 turbine wheel.
Um, that's probably our most commonly sold turbocharger and it it is a nasty unit. like, you know, we just had a gentleman go 450 in the eighth with it on an S400 chassis and it it's >> we're not we're not done. Like, it's an 88 mil. There's no cheater nonsense or anything. It's it's a legit 88 >> and we're we're pretty confident we can go a 448 in the eighth just by pick just picking apart the front end a little bit there. But based on the data with the gentleman I've been working with, >> um, I'm going to make a few tweaks where I see fit. And honestly, I'm like, I want to see a 445 or 443 out of an S400 88 millimeter and I'll be happy. And that's more or less like I'm in competition with myself at the end of the day. That's how I look at things.
Uh, I don't really care what other people are doing. Um, and I think that's one of the things honestly has been a really big like saving grace for me just because what I have noticed like we have turbochargers come through the shop for repair from various brands and there's a lot of extremely similarities and it's almost like hey did did Billy Bob you know copy Suz's homework and just tweak it a little bit and change it to make it their own and they all seem seemed to um this seemed to perform like very similar within like 50 horsepower. So, and then we had the opportunity like with our uh S400 88 and the 10392 turbine wheel, you know, we we were making against some of the our competitors that we tested against and like, you know, we're we're tuning it for MBT, checking the spark plugs, um you know, all that. And, you know, zero bias whatsoever.
and a few of these other competitors, we were between 3 and 400 horsepower more.
And but yet the funny part was our the inducer, the compressor wheel, and the exucer, the compressor wheel were still, you know, within half a millimeter of each other.
>> We got one person that asked, are they ported and flow tested when you do them?
So when it when it we don't really do like order and flow test we we do have software that provides a simulated compressor map. I don't put the compressor maps on the website just for the sake my opinion on them like maybe this may skew a little people like they may not like it but it's just my opinion based off of the hundreds of cars worth of data that I've gotten to see is you're you're the compressor map is going to show you what that compressor wheel is capable of. Okay. But you also have to factor in the choke flow of the turbine wheel. And the choke flow of the turbine wheel is the turbine wheel is what is driving your compressor wheel.
But once you hit your choke flow point on the turbine wheel, it doesn't matter if you know you're reaching the potential of that compressor wheel or not because it's you're going to stall.
You're just not going to hit it, right?
And that's just you you hit a point where there there's no more gains. And that's where guys will start to see back pressure starts climbing as the more boost you start throwing at it, you know. Um, but in regards to that, yeah, no, we we do simulated compressor maps and anytime I've, you know, challenged myself or even some of our guys that really push this stuff hard, um, we're we're typically within like two to 3% in accuracy on them. So, and I was pretty happy with that. Um, there's a couple companies that do have their own test bench for doing it. It is something that I do plan on building, but unfortunately for the time being, where our business is located, uh, I'm not able to set up our own gas test center to do that.
>> I got another question.
>> Sorry. Go ahead.
We'll Yeah, when we do that, we'll be sacrificing turbos in order to, you know, post real live data on it.
>> Flow test them.
>> Exactly.
>> We got questions like this guy saying he's building a 53 Summit LS Howard 22X.
Can Can you read this, Nick, or No, or do I got >> I can't. Let me see.
>> Okay. Building a 53 basically with 243 799 heads. Definitely need a single turbo setup. What would be the size for something like that?
>> So, the one thing I always ask when people ask this stuff is I want to know what fuel you're running. So, if you ever uh you're familiar with my turbo spec sheet, >> I always want to know what you're revving it to, your cam shaft, and what fuel you're running, and what cylinder heads, and those I found those >> key points of information, I've been able to really like nail the specking for turbochargers. Um, >> well, you hit you hit mine right out of the park, right off the rip with the last one. So, >> so the best thing to do is go to your contact us here and do the turbo spec form.
>> Yeah, turbo spec form. Uh, and then I'm the one that is answering all of those.
And >> probably my biggest gripe with that though is sometimes uh I respond to guys and it goes to their spam folder. Then they get mad that hey, we never heard from you. Nick's a jerk. He doesn't get back to us. It's probably in your spam folder because I spend hours answering everybody.
>> I got you. So, the best bet for anyone interested in getting a turbo spec for their setup is just hit you up in that contact us and fill out the turbo form.
>> Yeah. So, uh and that the gentleman that commented there was did he say he's on E85 or E98? What's >> he didn't say?
Uh, he does.
>> He does after E85.
>> E85.
>> Got an alcohol.
>> And then another guy, our buddy, our other buddy Cody said he's fighting back pressure. He's got a VS >> 92.
>> He's got a 92 103 VS, but he's scared of switching because it spools instantly. But in the same sentence then he said, "And I'm fighting back pressure with anything over 20 pounds."
>> So we're missing some context. What kind of what what's the displacement in fuel on the engine?
>> Oh, I don't know. I don't know his engine. That's just what he's saying.
>> Oh, secret grudge guy.
>> Big grudge guy. He might not tell us on here. He might have to message you privately.
>> So this is this is Nick's website for anybody looking. Uh it's BSI Inc. which is True North Turbos. So, you can contact him on there or take a look at his wide variety of different turbos. I mean, like I said, um I'm not bringing him on here to sell turbos because I'm just telling you real life real life stuff. For myself personally, it's been a bit of a game changer for us. Um the truck just is much happier.
It just works better. Honestly, you've been stacking up the W. Like I'm every every time I every Sunday or Saturday I check Facebook and I see like you're there just a big [ __ ] eating grin and a handful of cash. So >> that's all thanks to Terry.
>> No, he's such a big help. He's such a big help here in the summer. Really guiding me through all the races.
>> It takes a team, right?
>> It does. Terry's my uh emotional support animal. He uh he messages me while I'm driving eight hours on my way to the race to tell me how he's by the pool relaxing cold beverages and I better get my [ __ ] right. And >> that's true.
>> If I don't win, not to call him on Monday. So motivates me to not [ __ ] lose.
>> Oh yeah.
>> No, but I'm a firm believer of and I always been like that. I'll try everything once, but when you see results on something, why are you gonna change something that's working so well?
You know what I mean? Like we tried and when you've tried enough things, you realize, like I said, we've tried a [ __ ] ton of turbos, but the only ones that have really been like a really big game changer for us was when I got in contact with you and we sat down and I said, "Okay, here's the setup exactly." And like you said, I mean, you're pretty, this is your business, so you take time to give people what they want. And I remember when we first talked, you were telling me what turbos to run. And I'm like, nah, we need bigger turbos than that. And you were like, no, we don't.
>> And I'm like, what do you mean?
Everybody else is running, you know, this turbo, that turbo, you know, in my eyes, not being a turbo professional, uh, bigger always sounds better. You know what I mean? You're like, "Well, I got a big displacement motor, so I need some [ __ ] twin, you know, 83s >> and blah blah blah." But that's really not how it works.
>> No. And the thing is with with some of these larger turbos, guys get so fixated on the numbers and the size and they're like, "Oh, yeah."
You know, like it's they think just because they're going to put this larger turbocharger on there that they're going to make all the power in the world. But I had news for everyone. That's not how it works. I've had people, one of my favorite combinations is 53 LS with TFS 220s.
Um, you can either, you know, aftermarket crank or if you want to bump up the displacement a little bit, throw in an LT crank and, you know, run that through it.
The the thing is a monster. Like we we got a gentleman here who was racing the weekend there at Dig or Die and you know they're 1450 1500 horse on this LS combination and using simple off-the-shelf parts. Um Summit stage three twin turbo cam shaft, the Summit stage three twin turbo cam shaft and the Summit stage 4 twin turbo cam shaft. Um, and Brian Nutter came up with those and you know, we we were dealing with Summit a bit at the time when they were coming up with those and work together and you know, they made those two cam shafts in mind and just absolute killer off-the-shelf product. um this combination for anyone that like wants to get into no prep or whatever and you know you you don't want to spend 20 $30,000 on an engine, it it's entry level absolutely great. Absolutely great.
So, and when you start with this particular combination, what I was getting at, you you have guys that think that, you know, bigger bigger turbo, more power. Well, this exact combination, we've had guys go from, let's say, the TNT 488 with a 10392 turbine wheel, and they're like, "Oh, I need to put a 98 mil GT-55 on here so I can go so much faster." Well, now you don't have enough exhaust to drive the turbine. You got the smallest exhaust housing possible that you could put on that turbo and you just can't get the shaft speed.
So therefore, you're not getting the pounds per minute that that compressor wheel can put out. And they're and they get frustrated. They're like, "Shit, why am I going slower now?" You know, so bigger isn't always better.
>> No. And that's yeah, that was the misunderstanding. We got another guy here asking he said, "Do I need a bigger turbo? I have a 91102 T6 setup on my 419 LS3 10.8 compression on E85 and will not go over 22 pounds of boost even if I add more dome pressure.
So, when it comes to these kind of questions, the when I'm talking, especially if a customer calls in and we're talking on the phone, the first things that I ask are, "What's your intercooler setup?"
Because I've had over the years numerous people where just like this gentleman like that turbocharger, I don't know who made it. I could say if he let's say he had my 92 103 on there's no reason why about 30 35 lbs he should be 15600 horse and then like that that's about it.
Okay. But depending on the intercooler you want to drill and tap you know your pre-intercooler end tank. So between your turbo and your intercooler put a pressure gauge in there. see what the pressure drop is across the core.
So when years ago I went before like when I first started working with TC tunes and he had one of my GT5588s uh and he was happy with it until he started to turn it up and he's like man he's like this thing is like kind of a dud. What's going on? We're not making any power. And we did that and I don't remember the exact number. I can't remember if it was like 18 psi was the pressure drop. Um he was on John Capezy's uh dyno there in Michigan and they drilled and tapped it and found that and then as soon as they removed the restriction next time out he picked up 400 horsepower. 400 wheel horsepower. No tune change.
Just swapped out the intercooler. And the problem with the intercooler that he had at the time actually had to do with fin design. A lot of people don't realize like there's a lot of a lot of people spend a lot of money on like you know well well-made brand name intercoolers but also sometimes mistakes happen like little fins on the inside.
There's multiple different ways those fins internally can be made for whether it's passing water or air. And I got >> if you if you have the fins that are designed in the particular way I like I have pictures of them here.
Unfortunately I can't show you but >> if if you have that you're going to be chasing these issues. So therefore what happens in this situation you're adding dome back pressure is going up compressor wheel is fighting this restriction your shaft speed is going up and if you have enough motor you can actually oversp speed the turbocharger but in this case he maybe doesn't and you're just you're standing there like you know >> fighting fighting yourself basically.
>> Yeah. And you're like John Travolta with your wallet out just looking around like where where's the power? What's going on?
>> Yeah.
>> Right. He says and he has a chiseled big air w air to water in the bed. I have a chiseled big air.
>> Mhm.
>> Big air to w chiseled big air I guess.
>> So do you do yourself a favor?
Is his name Charles?
>> Yeah.
First, two things I would do in that situation is like I said, um, drill and tap your pre-intercooler end tank. See what your pressure drop is across the core when you do a run. The other thing with the air to water stuff over time, the m the material, the aluminum like is just constantly loaded, unloaded, loaded, unloaded, and it fatigues over time. And I've seen like very good brand name air to water cores out there, especially with like the sandwich plates that are very common nowadays where over time they just fatigue so much that now you're pushing water in to the intake track. So you're you're putting your fire out.
>> Another question we got is what's your thought of cold side boost control instead of waste heats?
Not a fan of it at all.
>> Exactly. The the reason why I don't like that is if there's So this is not new. It's only it's become more mainstream nowadays, but like th this has been being used, you know, since we go back to like the '9s and early 2000s. Um, on like rally cars, Cossworth, stuff like that.
um they were originally started using it to you know spool up a larger ture larger turbocharger or to basically bleed off to keep the turbo on the side of the surge line of the map right so I the thing today with the way we're we're at a point in history like a lot of the engines that people are able to build right now especially on a budget are efficient for what they are. And in my opinion, it because of that, it's easier to over oversp speed the turbocharger. If you if you don't have a strategy setup and if you're not running a turbo shaft speed sensor with a safety built into it, my concern is you oversp speeding the charger and then you're going to be mad and you're going to blame the turbo guy. But in actual fact, it was just the turbo the the turbine was being uh free driven, no load. So it's going to spin until it finds a point of imbalance at that RPM and that's where it comes apart.
>> Yeah, which makes sense.
We got another viewer question. Do you know who this guy is?
>> God damn it.
>> We're asking. We keep looking for this dude, but I can't seem to find him anywhere. Would you delete that?
>> Can't say I know.
>> We'll find them.
>> I will not delete anything off of here.
>> I'll do what I want.
>> I'll ban you from your duties.
>> What else we got? What else we got?
>> No, I don't do oilless turbos and I never will.
>> Okay, there you go. He doesn't and he never will.
No, these have these have been one of those spots we hit kind of like when we swapped over the transmission, when we swapped the shocks. These have been one of those big hurdles where it kind of changed everything. Felt like we were pushing a chain for a long time and we were fighting some things that you really couldn't fix. You could band-aid them and you could try to push through them, I guess. And these were one of them where once we did it, we were like, man, that's I mean, that's what we need.
>> Wait, it was definitely a huge improvement of what we were working with before, especially when we moved the turbos. As soon as we moved the turbos, we were in some big trouble.
>> Yeah.
>> Back with the old ones because it would take a [ __ ] ton to spool them and it was just annoying more than anything. I was I probably [ __ ] that motor by testing multiple strategies to try to get them to light.
>> Yeah, >> we bent >> the valves are probably not too happy.
>> Well, yeah, we cracked a set of heads >> from heat supposedly. Now, I don't know if that we'll take that with a grain of salt, but um Cody, your best bet is probably shoot Nick a message. Nick, what's the best way to get a hold of you?
>> Um, if they want >> Messenger, like if they just wanted to message you and talk to you about >> Yeah, you know what? We can we can just even use my personal Facebook there if they want. Uh, but just know like I'm not available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I get some guys mad.
>> Yeah, some some guys get mad when it's 3:00 a.m. and they don't get a response.
>> You're not going to answer questions all night.
>> [ __ ] That's horrible. I thought for sure.
>> But yeah, um, they can look me up on Facebook, you know.
>> I'll post it up here. Give me one second.
just so they have because that's probably easier so they can just message you directly as opposed to me.
>> Yep. Or even the email salesblacksheep industries.ca.
>> Share screen. Here we go.
Share.
That's Nick's Facebook page for anybody who needs to get a hold of him.
>> Oh, look. Kevin Anderson right there.
You can check out his website. What's your website again, Nick?
>> Black Sheep Industries.ca.
Black Sheep Industries.ca.
>> Right.
>> We ship worldwide. We have customers all over the place from Australia.
>> Yeah. Someone was asking about tariffs.
Are there tariffs now on turbos if they you ship to the US?
>> Yes. And we have a new program which we actually just launched on the 18th.
And so the way this program works, it's because before 75% of all of our sales went to the US prior to the tariffs coming into place.
Um, and then our Canadian market picked up and our US market sales slowed down after the tariffs. But some of our US dealers, you know, they'll either still buy by the pallet or whatever. But the program that we just launched on the uh July 18th there is basically you purchase the turbocharger from us, you like you get your bill and it's hit or miss. Sometimes they don't charge anyone anything. It's I think it all depends on what kind of mood they're in at the border when it's being processed to be honest with you. So, >> so you have a sale or something going on now, right? Where you'll cover the tariffs if they get charged them or something like that.
>> Well, so it's not a sale. It's just going for now it's a you know new process moving forward where you buy a turbocharger from us. Um if you get hit with tariffs and duties and all that basically provide your order number, your tracking number and uh p the picture documentation that they provide you typically UPS like they'll give you the print out which shows the tracking number and what and what they want you to pay. And what we're doing for customers is we're doing store credit on all that stuff. So we will I got >> Yeah, >> that's cool.
Someone wrote here, "Black Sheep Industries makes wastegates with O-rings instead of diaphragm. Turbo John swears by them."
>> Yep. Uh, we do. Um, so we've actually slowed down on the production of those and basically focusing more on the turbochargers, but I will say that we are doing a few more runs of wastegates right now. And then after that, I've been working for probably about the past two, two and a half years um on some wastegate designs that I've come up with where we will have the shortest and lightest piston actuated wastegates on the market, which will be a big thing. So, we're talking they'll be over an inch shorter than our current ones. And we also plan on offering more colors with the anodizing because apparently not everyone likes just black.
>> Terry's a fan of black, but >> I don't know why you would say that this late in the evening.
>> I was just saying and he knows a thing or two about losing an inch.
>> No, I could afford to. You can't.
Uh, all right. Well, do you have any sales coming up? I know we were talking if people stay tuned, there might be a sale on the new prototype turbos we put on the shop truck.
>> Yeah. So, for those guys, um, I'm I'm purposely holding off on doing that for a little bit just because I want to make a few tweaks. Like, I'm confident.
I'm I'm pretty happy with how you're doing with them, but I I'm I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Like there's a few little things that we can tweak that I want to do before we go full production on them.
>> And I got re really offer guys like essentially my plan is what you have I'm going I know you're happy with how it spools. I know you're happy with the power it makes. Um I'm not because that's just how I roll.
And there's small tweaks that I believe that I can make that will make it spool faster for you.
>> Yeah.
>> And make a little bit more peak power.
So, I'm going to make those adjustments.
>> We're always happy to make more power.
That's one thing that no one ever complains about. I know that.
>> Yeah.
>> We can make another 50 horsepower somewhere. I'll be pumped.
>> Well, that's and that's one of the big things I focused on developing the compressor wheels. And when we tested a lot, like we compared some of our turbochargers against some of our competitors out there, there was two two in particular competitors very well known in the US.
Um, we made within five horsepower of their peak, but in the mid-range on a few on the few that we tested, we were 150 to 200 more wheel horsepower more.
>> So, I noticed that just between the VS and uh putting these ones on because we just put those VS so people know, we just put those VS cuz Nick was still working on the ball bearing prototypes that we have on the truck now.
So, we were having an issue with journal bearing, and it's nothing to do with his turbos. It's just the oiling system, the way we have it set up in the truck, uh, was causing issues. So, we put those VS ball bearing ones on just to eliminate the oiling problem. And like I said, it's a day andight difference in that mid-range. I noticed as soon as I put those because ball bearing are known well supposedly known for spooling faster and being better down low because it's less rolling resistance I guess than a journal bearing. You're probably going to tell me I'm wrong but that's that's the uh whatever you want to say consensus that people seem to say.
>> Yeah. But all the data that I've seen, if you take the exact same rotor assembly, so the exact same turbine wheel, exact same compressor wheel, and one's a journal bearing, and one's a ball bearing. All I've seen, like we're talking milliseconds, you're just reducing the moment of inertia with the ball bearing. That is it. The other the nice things about ball bearing is they can take slightly higher thrust loads, you know, whe so that's like especially in the diesel world where like they're whacking the throttle a lot. Um, but also like I've made changes to our journal bearing and our thrust bearings so that the oiling the way it oils there's a steady pressure on both sides instead of like the flooding style. Like I know when you were you'd rebuilt a lot of S400s and you see a lot of them where the thrust washer itself, you know, it's either the 270 degree where everything just falls out or it's the 360 where it just all floods into the middle. Whereas ours is different. It pressurizes both sides of the thrust collar, not just, you know, flooding it. Right.
>> Yeah. For me, it's just an oil thing.
The ball bearings take so much less oil required to keep them lubricated that >> exactly that and that is a very big, you know, that that's a very good benefit to them. Um, some people don't want to pay, they rather run an extra liter or two in the pan. They just don't want to pay that sort of for that. But 100%, you know, um when when you have to run a -6 oil feed to an S400, you know, especially if you got two of them. Well, when you're making your run and it's all coming out of the engine, let's say, you know, they're you're going to be short on oil. Simple as that. They drink a lot and it goes back to the pan. But, you know, you're also heating up your you're increasing your oil temps a bit as well.
ball bearing turbos will help you, you know, relieve some of that.
>> What the hell is a leader? We're dealing with mostly Americans on the chat here.
They don't know if you're talking Chinese to them.
>> Terry was smiling the whole time talking about all this oil. He was getting excited over there.
>> Yeah. Thrust and oil. I mean, >> thrust and oil.
>> I was wondering what he was doing under the desk, but >> Oh, he was calling Diddy, was he?
>> Yeah.
I need a goddamn liter of cola.
All right. Well, uh, we're probably going to start wrapping it up because we normally only do two hours.
So, if anyone wants to get a hold of Nick, like I said, great guy, as you can hear, very knowledgeable about turbos in the turbo world. Um, I would highly recommend personally myself talking to him if you need any turbo stuff.
Um, like I said, out of all the turbo companies we've worked with so far, and that's the honest truth, uh, you've you've been your [ __ ] just works. It just I don't know, it's just from talking to you and you actually giving a [ __ ] and, uh, sending us the right stuff as opposed to, you know, sometimes people just tell you, "Yeah, yeah, just put these on it." You know what I mean?
They don't really care.
>> You look it up on the internet.
>> Yeah, just look it up on the internet.
order whatever you want. But it's nice to someone like yourself, you know, you put in the time, you test this stuff, and >> like I said, >> I kind of just put faith in you. I said, "All right, well, this guy seems to be smart about this stuff." Terry and I are scientists in our own ways, but it's a different kind of science. We don't really know turbos. So, um, yeah, it's nice to talk to someone who actually cares and is like, "Hey, I'm going to set you up with," and I'll give you guys some advice. Don't argue with Nick. He actually knows what the [ __ ] he's talking about. So, when he tells you you should run this or that, and you turn around and tell him, "No, the internet or Facebook told me I should run this."
>> You're already going down the wrong road.
This guy knows >> the stories that I could tell, man.
>> Oh, yeah. No, and I know that. And how many times have you and I [ __ ] talked and I'm like, are you serious? Well, the internet. And you're like, "No, just do it like this." And I'm like, "Fine, [ __ ] I'll change my whole setup again."
And yeah, so give Nick a shout. Uh, you guys saw his Facebook. You can either reach him on Facebook there or you can reach him at how do I make another thing or maybe I can >> you can show them the True North Turbo Facebook page or Instagram page. All depends. So many social media these days. Holy crap. It's just like too much.
>> I know. Crazy. Or you can check out his website at black sheep industries.ca.
Correct. Yep.
>> Check out all his different turbochargers. I'm sure he's got one for whatever application you need. And if he doesn't, I'm sure he'll make one for you that'll work. And yeah, thank you for coming on with us, Nick. I appreciate you and I appreciate everything you do for our racing program. I mean, it's been gamechanging all the guys we've worked with in the last year, year and a half. It's definitely uh it's a reason why we we end up in the winning circle.
>> Yep.
>> Because you got good companies behind you. So, >> no, it's awesome, man. You guys put a lot of hard work in and I'm honestly I'm just happy to be aboard. I'm happy to, you know, be a part of your guys success and yeah, just keep on killing it. You guys are doing great.
>> I appreciate that. And yeah, we'll keep doing what we're doing. Hopefully not wreck too many turbos.
Yeah, don't don't send engine parts through your turbo. That that's like >> that's the ideal thing.
>> And learn how and another thing I've learned is learn how to pack a turbo properly. Don't just send you a turbo in a box, take it apart, and just throw it in there.
>> Yeah.
>> I don't know what kind of would ship stuff like that from Florida all the way back to Canada and just throw it in a box of parts and say, "Here you go. Fix this, please."
I swear you just threw it all in a cannon and sent it back in pieces.
>> Oh, one question someone has is, "So, why is the website Black Sheep Industries, but yet it's true North Turbos?" That is a good question. I never asked you that.
>> Okay. So, Black Sheep Industries is the main company. So, like you see on there, the wastegates, the blowoff valves.
>> Oh, mother flanges, etc. So, that's the parent company.
Gotcha.
And it's all in the same building, same shop. I own and manage both of it. Um, you know, sometimes, some days there's Black Sheep parts being machined on the HOS. Some days there's True North Turbos parts being made on the HOS. So, you know, so Black Sheep Industries in layman's term is the mother company and True North is an offshoot of it.
>> Exactly.
>> Gotcha. Awesome. Well, I appreciate you, brother, and uh hope everything goes well and hope some people reach out to you. That would be the smartest move they make for their program. So, >> yeah, happy to help.
>> With that, we will say good night and we got to do a quick uh I promised our fans a quick draw tonight. And oh, I wanted to ask you before you leave, >> where was it? Here. I need I need I need I need something from you.
>> Here we go.
>> Can you see our feed?
>> Yep.
>> Nick. All right.
>> Yep.
>> I want see the shirt that says sold out.
>> Yeah. The Miami one.
>> Miami Turbo shirt.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Can you send me that design so I can get some t-shirts made like that?
I'm actually planning on making more.
>> Okay. If you're making more, can you not put that on the front and put it on the back and maybe put the little logo on the front?
>> Okay. Yeah, we can do that.
>> I hate when the big shit's on the front.
>> Yeah.
>> But I really like that shirt. When I was in your thing here, I was like, "Oh man, that shirt's badass."
>> Yep. Yep.
>> So, if you can if you're making more of those, I'll order a couple of those for sure. And I'd like to order some to give to give to some of our viewers as well.
>> I have uh I have another one just like that except instead of true north turbos, it says size matters.
>> Well, on this on this chat, size definitely doesn't matter. So, >> but if you are making another run of these or if you're not going to, if you want to send me the thing, I'm going to make a run of those. I think that's a really cool shirt. I think it would look badass on the back and maybe that same logo and small on the chest like kind of like how we do our TE's.
>> Yep.
>> And then uh yeah, I'd like to give some out to some of our uh some of our friends that hang out with us here.
>> Uh you know what's funny is we actually stopped we stopped making that for a while uh because of the pink. So we were getting like tons and tons of complaints. Everyone like, "Oh, that shirt will make me be gay." And I'm just like, "Are you serious? Grow up."
>> Is that Is that pink or purple?
>> It's pink.
>> Is it? I don't give a [ __ ] I think it looks cool.
>> Yeah, I saw you looking at it. I thought the same thing.
>> Yeah, I was looking at that. I'm like, that's a badass shirt. I don't like it on the front, I'll be honest. Just because I don't wear shirts that have big logos on the front like that, like the mannequin here, but it would look badass on the back and then the same thing like small in the front.
Anyway, that's just my two cents.
>> Oh, we can do it.
>> If you're making If you're making a run of those, I'll take a bunch and we'll give them out to uh >> some of our our fans here. Our friends.
Not even fans. I call them friends.
All right, brother. We'll talk later.
Hope you have a wonderful night. Thank you for coming on.
>> Yeah, no problem. Thanks for everything, guys. You guys have a good one.
>> You, too.
See you.
>> All right, Terry, it's that time of the night. Give me a number between 1 and 120.
>> I just went random. I don't know.
>> 122 then.
>> I said between 1 to 120.
>> Yeah, but I don't like that round number. And I have to get as far away from the beginning as possible because these guys started talking at six >> and it's all the same five people. So, >> let me scroll. So 122 >> 122 >> Terry pick 122. Whoever's number 122 theund 122nd comment in the chat tonight will be receiving a sinister prize pack.
I know someone on here said you'll get it when you get it. And that's true. But I do have to go and ship some stuff later this week. So I will be shipping it with that order later this week.
So, whoever number 122, if you can post up the comment, Terry.
>> I just >> All right, Terry's going to count and whoever is one number 122 in the comments will be receiving a free Sinister prize pack as an appreciation to all you guys joining us. Hopefully, they're still logged in here live with us.
I just wanted to give Nick a chance to talk about his turbos and stuff because they really are really good turbos and he's a small Canadian company. So I think it's good to support small business sometimes.
I am Mike's I am Mike's biggest fan. Thank you.
Thank you, Floyd. Love you too, buddy.
Damn, you guys. Guess I missed the first hour of the show.
All right, Nick, we'll play the intro again before we head on out just for you.
I don't know. Happy was supposed to come on, but you know, it's happy. Who knows if I'm not one. Look at Terry. Terry instead of picking like 65, he went [ __ ] balls deep.
Who is >> you? [ __ ] >> Oh, sorry. Who is it? James Glenn. It's James Glenn.
>> Yep.
>> James Glenn, you're our winner. Please.
Uh, I'll write it in here.
James Glenn is number 122 for tonight.
Please DM me your full name, real name if it's not James Glenn.
uh and stuff. Message me on Facebook Messenger. Send me your shipping address, full name, contact info, so I can uh send you out your prize pack.
Congratulations.
You are tonight's winner. Oh, he's still on here. Good.
>> Sweet.
>> I'm not telling you what you're getting.
You get a box of random sinister [ __ ] Whatever I feel like giving you that day. So, I mean, it's true. I go through all the stuff I got cuz we have like a merch room and I just grab a bunch of random [ __ ] throw it in a box. So, but I do need your size because there will be a t-shirt in there for sure. So, I need your size and your mailing address. If you can DM me that, that would be uh amazing.
>> I'm not recounting that. Forget it.
>> No, Terry's not recounting. And if anyone thinks it's rigged, by all means, go up to the top of the comments and start counting.
>> Oh, >> but as of now, can I message Yeah, you can message me on Instagram. Anyway you want to message me. I just need uh obviously your personal not personal information, but I'm sure you'd rather not put it in the live here. So, just DM me any which way on any of my socials and uh I'll get that out for you. I regret What does this say? I agree with you. I hate [ __ ] in front of shirts other than Yeah. I'm not I hate like wearing shirts that have a big >> feels weird.
>> Yeah. Like I like them like motions here. Like >> this little thing on the side in the front. It can be the same logo. Like all our sinister shirts have the sinister logo here and then the back is always something different.
>> Yeah.
>> Definitely not. It's not rigged. Trust me.
Terry has no idea. He just picks [ __ ] random numbers out of the [ __ ] air.
Look at him. We don't plan this. Hey man, thank you. We appreciate all you guys. Like I said, this is our little our little group, our little family on here. So, I like to give back to you guys when I can. I appreciate you guys.
All you guys for hanging out with us on Sundays. This is our this is my uh my therapy. I tell Terry all the time.
Sorry I didn't have more stuff on Billy and Molly, but honestly, I wasn't at the track. I'm sure they'll talk about it at on the table, but I'm also sure they might not.
>> Yeah, >> a lot a lot of people don't want to touch that topic. So, >> ter >> I mean, a lot of people want to talk about it, but I don't I don't really have any information, so it's hard for me to talk about something I know nothing about.
>> You know what I mean? Like, what am I going to discuss? I have no input. I've seen all the same [ __ ] everyone else has seen. crazy Instagram shed all the like there's nothing else I can say.
>> Yeah.
>> Will she follow through with the I'll answer your question.
>> Uh Terry knows all. I don't turn away from nothing.
>> That I have no idea. I mean maybe that would be really shitty of her. I mean isn't that baby pretty old now? I >> feel like it.
>> Yeah. spin-off a bit.
>> Yeah, I agree with you. It's best just to leave it to them. I don't really know much about I'm just happy I'm me.
>> I'm just happy to be me. You know, sometimes you got to look around and be like, "Hey, life's not so bad. Life's actually pretty good."
Come on, Nick. Be nice.
Everyone has tough times.
>> Some people just have a lot of them.
>> Yeah.
I mean, if you honestly want my opinion, Terry wants to hear my opinion.
>> Yeah. I can't wait for this.
>> I think I don't know.
I feel bad, but I also don't feel bad because if someone's trying to monetize off of their craziness and post stuff on social media, like I've never seen somebody post 800 Instagram stories in one day. You know what I mean? Like that's the weirder part to me. It's not like I don't know their personal life, but they're making it so not personal that it's hard to not but I feel like, how do I explain this?
I feel like it should be very personal, but it's being exposed almost on purpose to monetize. Does that make sense?
>> Yeah, 100%. And that part is the part I don't like because if that's truly what's going on then trying to make money off of it but then turn around and everyone's like, "Well, you know, you should leave them be and it's their personal business." Well, it's kind of hard to leave. It would be like me coming on here every Sunday and just start popping off on my personal life.
You know what I mean? People would talk about it because I'm forcing them to talk about it.
>> Yeah.
>> Like I don't really care what goes on in their life to be honest. and I'd rather not hear about it. But when you put it all over social media and turn it into a thing where you're now trying to make money off of it, like somebody making YouTube videos [ __ ] popping off like that. The only thing I see is somebody desperate to try to make some money. But that's the wrong way to go about making money. You know what I mean? Because I I noticed in even Ben's live and stuff, people are like, "Well, you know, why don't you guys mind your business?"
we are minding our business. Like, I don't really want to know about any of it. But when you're [ __ ] spamming, you know, when you have a following and you're spamming that following with that personal [ __ ] [ __ ] going on, it's kind of hard for people not to be uh in their in your business. That's my take on it. I just I find it [ __ ] kind of [ __ ] up that you're trying to monetize a horrible situation. I guess I don't even know if it's a horrible situation.
Maybe it's not a hor like I you don't know what's real anymore. That's the problem with the internet. Like is this just a [ __ ] thing like a soap opera where you're trying to flip money or is this like you know maybe she is super crazy but if she is super crazy then why put it all over like we went from Instagram the Facebook now YouTube like there's YouTube videos of crash outs like it's [ __ ] wild >> why would you click on that >> we were doing so good >> and that that is something I told Terry actually a while ago I'm like I don't know if it's the water over there. But >> everybody's starting to look very >> they are.
>> I even asked Chris Lane the other day. I said, "Chris, you you incorporated this?
Are we going to see Chris Lane baby somewhere pop out?"
>> He's still in here. He can hear you.
>> Love Chris.
>> She hauled ass. Oh, yeah. But this is what I mean. Like, why do you guys know this stuff? I know why you know this stuff. Because she posts about it every day.
I'd rather not know about it, but it's >> Yeah.
>> Damn it.
>> See?
>> Damn it.
>> She was with Big Rob. Like, this is what I like. It's crazy. Shit's crazy.
>> Yeah. Well, Nick, you know, here it's there's no censorship. We don't have mods.
>> We don't have mods.
>> I know on Benz there's mods and they take that job very serious. And even Patrick was getting [ __ ] fired up on the weekend about his moderation duty.
>> Just stretching his legs as a mod. You know, >> I'm a mod, too, on Ben's stream, but I'm the worst guy to have as a mod because I don't mod [ __ ] >> Mike just sits there and spams approved.
>> I just hit approved. Approved. Approved.
See, I knew he was still in here.
>> It's good to be Yes, it is. Sometimes you reflect on your own life when you see things, train wrecks like this and you say, you know, >> some days I have some really bad days, but I don't really share them with the world. You know what I mean?
So, that's my take on all of it if you guys want to know. I think it's just sad that this is where we are in the world that we're trying to get clicks and views on crash outs in your life when you're going through some real tough [ __ ] I can't see how that helps anybody by making yourself look like a lunatic on social media, but people aren't going to talk about it. I mean, that's that's the reality when you post stuff like this.
I love you, Chris.
You're still my boy. I'm just saying Chris isn't really from Ohio. So, or is he?
Oh, no. It's on YouTube. Oh, yes.
It's on everything. I get videos sent to me like on the daily and I don't even care.
That's the funny thing. But that's what I'm saying. When people post this stuff on the internet, it's because they want people to do this. Sadly, >> that's the kind of But it's such poor negative attention that no, none of it's going to change. It's only making it worse. And then they go back and forth on social media, which makes it even worse because now you take a person who's got say a 100,000 followers on this side and now the person with 500,000 followers is arguing back. So now you've incorporated 600,000 people in your business.
I mean, I don't even post pictures of my son on my social media because nobody's [ __ ] business.
>> This is their business. Their business is right here. I'm happy to share this part of my life with everybody.
But outside of that, that ain't for me.
Oh my god.
She did what now? She did a burnout in front of old man Bill's house.
Jesus. This is what I mean. Like, see, everyone already knows everything. I don't even know all of this.
They are all making post and all this crap to make people hate Billy. I don't think people hate Billy though. They love Billy.
Billy has his own cult followings of people who love Billy.
That's another weird thing to me. But we've talked about that in the past.
That's some [ __ ] right going on there.
Even with Terry. I had to break Terry from the [ __ ] Billy.
>> So full of [ __ ] tonight.
>> When I met Terry for the first time, he invited me over for dinner and I walked into this room.
>> Oh, you better.
>> You are such a Whatever he's getting ready to say is he's full of [ __ ] I turned the corner and there's this little room he's got in the corner and it's just pictures of Billy with candles.
>> No, you are a nasty person tonight. You know that? You're going to get these guys fired up. Look at them.
>> I'm like here.
>> You're going to get them.
>> Like, I'm going to build an S10 just like Billy's so Billy will appreciate me. But now look, see, I broke Terry out of his nasty ass cave. And now look at him.
He's a better man today.
When I first met Terry, he was one of them. But I pulled him out. Pulled him out of the pit. Terry, you're welcome.
That's what your buddies for.
>> Oh yeah, we can't talk about that.
>> That's off limits.
Not off limits. Oh my.
>> The Camaro's The Camaro's going to be down for a little bit. We'll just leave that at that.
>> Had a rough time.
>> Jet Black was Jet Black was Oh, the [ __ ] No, this one.
>> Terry, we need moderators on our chat here.
>> No, they don't. They wouldn't have a job. No, because I would just unblock all the stuff.
>> Yeah, there's nothing to block. It just it all goes on.
>> What did you hit? You hit something before I cut you off.
or Terry.
I joke with Terry, but didn't someone say something to you, Terry, on [ __ ] Ben's feed?
>> Yeah.
>> Gator popped off about it.
>> You guys better watch. I'm going to warn you. I'm going to warn you right now. I can make fun of Terry because he's like my little brother. But if you start making fun of Terry on Ben's feed and Gator sees that, you better not come to Florida. There's a reason why we call her Gator.
>> She's gonna pop off on your ass.
Somebody had a funny comment, which is fine, but there were people that didn't like his funny comment in the chat, so they handled it well.
>> Look at this guy.
>> He just comes in here at the end of the night and just starts.
>> He comes in at the end of the night, pops off a comment like that.
>> He probably already, >> hey, you know what? Let's talk about this a second.
>> Oh god. Meanwhile, this guy comes to my house one time with a [ __ ] rubber dick that sticks with a suction cup and a handheld remote that he puts on my tenants uh car. But the real question is is where did that come from and why do you own that?
>> We'll never know.
>> That's the question that first went through my head because I was like that's funny as hell for one cuz when the guy goes to work at 4 in the morning, there's a giant dick on his hood. But number two, where the [ __ ] did that come from? And number three, how did it end up in Florida in Terry's [ __ ] bathroom?
>> It's not It's in my closet.
>> Yeah, that's the third part of this whole equation.
>> I don't have the remote, so it doesn't work.
>> Oh, the remote's probably still here in Ontario. I'll send it to you.
>> You did put it in a box and mail it to me >> like an idiot.
There's a whole lot of [ __ ] that goes on in the background.
I can't believe there's still people on here listening to this. I was hoping everyone logged off.
>> Ben, uh, you can watch you can go back and watch Ben's stream, but at one point he was putting a sticker of me on his backpack that he carries around. Uh, and somebody said, "Let's be honest, Ben.
This isn't the first time Terry has been on a man's back."
>> Facts.
>> I ignored it because that's what I do.
No big deal. But there were some people that didn't appreciate it.
>> Yeah. Moderators. See, that's why you need moderators. They can't pick on Terry like that.
>> I mean, he can. Terry's a [ __ ] gentle soul.
Like I said, there's only one person, maybe two, that can get away with jerking Terry. And that's because we've earned that, right? We have to put up with his [ __ ] every day.
>> People get out of hand sometimes, Terry.
They don't understand. They're like, "Well, Mike makes fun of him, so now it's open season." But they don't understand.
>> Doesn't work like that. Mhm.
>> But I will tell you this, from here on in, we were thinking about this.
I am starting a weekly where's Terry >> segment on my social media with those stickers because we have some great ideas.
>> So stay tuned to my story on Facebook because we're going to have a Where's Wald? At one point I was thinking I was like I'm going to start putting stickers out and if people take pictures with the stickers if they find them >> send them >> I'll send them the t-shirt but they have to find the sticker >> money to peel that sticker off.
>> We're going to start putting Terry stickers in places and if our fans find the sticker and take a picture with it and send it to me. But they're also going to have to tell me the exact location because I'm not stupid and know you can very well AI yourself into any picture.
So, but keep your eyes open for things that Terry might approve around the country.
>> Those are good stickers.
>> They are great stickers.
Mods take its years. Yeah, I noticed that. I was watching on Ben's stream and I was watching the cuz I'm a mod. I guess I see when the mods take down things and I kept seeing deleted, >> deleted. There would be like four comments. remove this message or >> delete delete. I'm like, "Holy."
>> The best part about being a mod though, the best part about being the mod though is you can then click on it, see what it said, though you so we get to always see them.
>> We see all of them.
>> Nobody else can see them, but if you're a mod, you get to click on them and see.
>> I got a few notice notices that said like where it doesn't allow it because it censors itself and says, "Do you allow this comment because it goes against community guidelines or whatever?" I'm like, "Except.
This is good. I'm good with this one.
I'm good with that one. There's a reason why this show is not monetized.
That's because we don't moderate anything.
It's autographed by Did you smell it? Oh my god.
I just like talking [ __ ] and good fun.
Oh yeah, 100%.
Like I said, this isn't this is an open forum here. You see the comments in the bottom here. We don't it's unregulated as they say. And every time I go to monetize this to try to make my 78 cents >> that I get from it, they say no, this content is unmonetizable.
Yeah. Not a chance.
>> Not a chance.
>> Probably me, but that's was the gambling.
>> No, I get it. I get it. On Ben stream, he makes money on that. On here, we don't make [ __ ] I think out of all we've done, this is episode what, 70 something.
I think this show has brought me a grand total of about a $159 of YouTube money.
So, >> old hard cash.
>> Yeah, we definitely ain't doing it for the money.
>> That's the only thing I delete gambling.
>> Oh, you can't gamble on?
>> Like >> I don't think so. I've heard people say not to do it.
>> That demonetizes you, too.
>> Yeah, I've heard people asking not to.
that.
>> Oh, like cash app me or whatever it says.
>> Yeah. Yep.
>> I got you. I didn't even know know that.
>> What? Oh, 72. Yeah. This is our 72nd episode and we've made a $159.
At this rate, I might be able to buy a coffee by next year's 120th episode.
It's >> about two cents an episode. Yeah, it's USD money. It's USD, but I haven't hit the threshold where they actually send me the money yet. You have to hit $100.
>> Will be a while.
>> It'll be a while.
One's got a helicopter.
Yeah. Oh, we rich.
>> Rich.
>> I delete Molly comments because they multiply like Oh, you see this going Oh yeah, once you get them going, they pop off. But there's certain places to talk about things and one of them is here.
You know, when you come on here that you got to have thick skin because I mean that's this is the place.
You mean you mean you don't get donos on? What are donos?
>> Donations.
>> No, >> I saw something earlier. I didn't bring it up because I didn't want to sound like a [ __ ] You can't. I'm sorry.
>> Why? Someone donated money.
>> I don't want to sound like an idiot.
>> Um, no. There was something that they they donated some. It was called something funny. I've never seen it.
>> I gota go back.
>> It was something. It was like they they I got to find it. It was a big blue comment. It It was in the chat.
I gotta go up and find it because I don't know what it's called. Like like stars or something.
Where's Billy's race in West Virginia?
304.
I don't know where it is. I I'm going to it, but I know where it is, but I don't know offhand.
Super chat.
>> It's It was something like that. Uh >> I didn't even know that's an option on here. These cheap [ __ ] haven't been sending us donations. Yeah, I got babies to feed.
>> [ __ ] >> I'm over here working all night every Sunday night spending hours on my >> perfect [ __ ] >> intros. 10 gems. What are gems?
>> It's a big blue comment. I I don't know.
I don't know what this is.
>> What does a gem do?
>> I don't have I've never seen it in my life, but it's a huge blue comment.
Stands out.
>> Oh, Donkey, we know you haven't timed out anyone on here. I hope not. Look at that guy.
That guy's been to prison. He He ain't no snitch.
>> Somebody Somebody was so mad in in Ben's live at Donkey K because he said something about SRC. It was the best.
And then I told that guy I was going to time out time Don out and he was so happy.
>> Oh god, it was good.
>> And we'll tell you how it's done.
Collecting donations. Look, we need some donations. Actually, >> in fairness, we did get a lot of donations. So, I can't say that.
>> That's what's getting us to 304. To be honest, I still have the list here. I'll even post it up again.
All these people donated to us.
That's what's getting us to the war at 304 because in all honesty, it is definitely not in the not in the budget.
These trips are expensive. I don't I mean people probably know but it's like even when you win you're not really winning unless you win like >> one of these big >> Yeah. like small tire where it's like 10 grand 15 grand.
>> You're spending two grand to win 800 bucks.
>> Yeah.
>> That's I mean that's that's the reality.
You got to do it because you love doing it. It ain't it's not a money maker. And I win a lot. Not to toot my own horn, like there's a lot of people that never win anything.
And I win quite a bit and it still doesn't pay for it. So, you've got to win like big big money like that war, that Texas race and [ __ ] like that if you think you're going to make money racing.
You know what's sad though? I used to back when the car counts were big, I I actually did make money with the Jeep >> back in the day. That was >> because the Jeep was way less maintenance. I literally just [ __ ] drove that thing into the trailer, parked it here at the shop and next race busted it back out of the trailer, filled up a nitrous bottle and [ __ ] went racing and did that for weekends at a time and would win like between 3 to 5,000 a race.
Now with the cost of everything, you ain't making money. especially if you're not in like even War in the Woods I think 64 cars.
Uh what was it to buy in a buck 50 for True Street?
So 64 times a buck 50 and then they did uh $1,000 for the top four, right? So there's two grand away from that. Do the math there.
641 150 30 would you say 30 >> six There were 64 cars there right >> I would think it was the biggest class there this year >> cars >> it's what >> 9600 bucks >> minus two grand 76 >> 7600 and then 8020 normally they do what's 80% of 6,000 bucks. 6,100 bucks.
>> Okay. So, that's a decent weekend. But it's not like it's not like you're [ __ ] you know you're retiring after winning War in the Woods True Street.
>> No, >> because that weekend that weekend cost you two grand. So, you made four grand.
>> Yeah.
>> But now you go to something like Cash Days that I just went to. We won $800.
I spent $800 on the hotel, so I paid for the hotel. The rest of it was still out of pocket.
That's what I mean. Like, if you're racing to make money, good [ __ ] luck.
Really get mad because you can't delete my comments.
See that Challenger? No, I didn't.
Definitely needed that Maxwell tuning. I saw a I heard a couple of them in Daily Driver.
>> What do you think of Digger Dies new I Can you explain it to me more in a little more detail? We got to get off soon. You got about 10 more minutes and then I'm out. It's Monday night. What time is it? Yeah, it's 11 o'clock. Pass everyone time.
Give me a quick rundown, Moose Knuckle.
I didn't I didn't actually pay attention to any dig or die stuff this weekend because I was busy.
No.
800 Canadian for a hotel Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night.
>> Three nights.
>> It was 250 Canadian a night for Holiday and Express. That's where I stayed in [ __ ] Portsmouth.
So 750 plus Okay, sorry.
>> Yeah, plus taxes. I mean, it's [ __ ] 800 800 bucks.
>> Oh, Canadian. That explains it, man.
So, yeah. Okay. Technically, I lied. We made 200 bucks. It was probably 600 US or whatever the [ __ ] But again, I didn't make it. We had to fill up diesel three times one way, three times back.
Eat fuel for the truck, new tires. I can go on and on.
Yeah. Plus, I got to refresh. I'm actually taking out the motor in this week if he has time.
I got to refresh the motor because we've done over [ __ ] 300 passes with it.
Drag racing is for idiots. Yeah. Do you know what I do this for? I do this because of the love of the sport and those $25 trophies I have in my shop.
Every morning when I w open the door of the shop, that's what gives me a smile on my face. It's like It's like back in high school when you got all your participation rivets. Makes you feel good when you have that sash full of participation ribbons. Amazing.
It was you can buy back after your first loss. I think if you can buy back anytime after first round is ridiculous because you can get ducks up until four rounds in and then you lose and you can buy back in. That's [ __ ] You know what? I don't even mind when there's a really small car count doing second round buybacks. But anything after that because technically it's just test hits then see first round buyback I don't actually mind especially when you're going somewhere uh it always goes negative especially if you're going somewhere that you've never been to to have first round buybacks I actually agree with because it's nice like the days nobody calls each other out anymore anyway the days of that [ __ ] is over you know what I mean Like it used to be gangster. You go somewhere and be like, "Oh, I'm calling you out and then you can put them on the trailer." But at this point in this racing stuff, I see nothing wrong with first round buyback.
Basically, all it's doing is letting everyone have either a paid test or a free test all the way till the quarters. Yeah, that's stupid. That's [ __ ] stupid.
Sorry, but Hi. No, I'm I'm not saying that. I have trophies like in my shop that were $25 plastic. They're like this big. Your trophies are badass.
And even the belts and stuff that we got for our North versus South race. I know.
They were not. Definitely not $25.
>> You were so mad about how much they were.
>> Yeah. Maybe add a zero to the back of that. And that's how each one of them were.
You actually said I should have asked how much these were going to be before.
>> The biggest thing I got rinsed on was the big >> Oh, the big checks. No, not the belt.
>> The big checks rinsed me good.
>> Those were the most expensive pieces of plastic I've ever purchased.
>> That was my favorite thing you ever did.
>> Said you would race Jimmy Dale. Jimmy Dale won't race anybody first rounds.
And I've never been to 304. I wouldn't call anyone out anywhere I've never been before because I have no idea. I could be out first round.
Ryan White knew what he was doing with those buybacks.
>> So, if you're keeping track, Mike likes buybacks and index racing. Correct.
>> Yeah.
>> Can you imagine the time for those kinds of buybacks at War in the Woods?
I just Yeah, that's not for me. I mean I mean it is for me as a racer, but as a promoter, no. No thank you. Not only that, it's kind of really [ __ ] up. We got in trouble. Okay, we we had a nuclear meltdown when we let a guy back in buy back into a race and he won it and he got a buy as well or a buy into the finals.
>> Mhm.
>> Remember that? Who was that? That was way long ago. But >> people were so mad.
>> That's what started on Facebook. That's what started all that [ __ ] >> Oh, that's what started the [ __ ] guys.
>> That's the [ __ ] >> That's [ __ ] He kept saying >> Yep.
>> That was the >> So, we had a race early when we first started our series. We would let people buy back in and I guess this car got a buy then into the finals and won the whole deal and people went nuclear about >> he got he got a comp buy.
>> Was it a comp by? I thought he got >> it. It wasn't a full It wasn't No, it wasn't like an error on our end. It wasn't like a we messed up and gave him one after he bought back in. It was a legit like that's just how the the chips fell. like it. Nothing we can do about it.
>> Yeah, >> it was.
>> I remember that. And then after that, we said if you >> if you buy back in, you can no longer receive a buy chip, right? That's what we changed the rule to >> times where you get to the end your buy run >> if you buy back in, which makes sense to me. That's fair.
Like I said, I don't really mind first round buyback because especially when car counts low, it pumps up the pots a little bit and it lets everyone basically take a test hit. Like I said, in this day and age, nobody calls each other out first round anymore anyway.
>> Yeah, it was something weird where like everybody had the other guys had a buy already with the Monte Carlo. That's who it was.
>> Yeah, it was it was something weird. It wasn't a full-blown we just gave them a >> but I remember they were so mad and then there was the whole [ __ ] video that came out. Music video turned into a thing.
>> It was great. T-shirts were made after.
>> Yeah, I think t-shirts were >> got made. Dude, it was great.
>> Oh, it was so rough when we started. I took so much [ __ ] from so many people all the time. And I know 50% of it was because I was Canadian and not from Florida, which is fine. I get it. But man, did I get abused in the beginning.
I don't know why I stuck with that [ __ ] But you know what? I'm so happy I did because we had some of the baddest races out of Mockley there. And I love them.
>> I love them not only for myself, but all the guys down there. We had a blast. I'm going to miss that track for sure.
Yeah, that's true. Back then there were call outs. I remember that. It was awesome. You know, we we had a really good good run. How many years was that?
Five years.
>> Six.
>> Four, five. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Six, seven.
>> 67.
That's still big, >> I think. So, >> yeah. I'm going to miss a mock. This winner's going to suck.
We'll figure it out.
>> Yeah, I complained about a bunch of [ __ ] but I will miss our races down there. It gave us like something to look forward to all winter. That's the part that Orlando will still be good. Orlando will still be good, but it's only two races this winter. And then I don't know what else what I just I don't All the other races that people hold suck. Not to toot my own horn, but they're just not the same. There's always some [ __ ] and then you got to figure that out and then I'm pissed off that shit's [ __ ] [ __ ] and they can't figure it out.
Then I just get mad.
>> That would never happen.
>> Then I want to be there.
It's how it always goes. Thanks, Charles. I appreciate you, buddy.
Charles did some damage at a lot of our races. Mhm.
>> Always.
>> Um I don't know. They were talking about some stuff on Facebook and then I was talking to I just South Georgia really hurt my feelings.
>> Yeah, it was painful. It was painful because I put in a [ __ ] ton of work to uh promote a race there and put in a lot of time and a lot of effort and all our races like people who race with us very well know that we put on really good races and we take pride in that. So we work very hard at doing that and we put in that same energy to go to South Georgia and [ __ ] ghost town there. There were no nobody except all the people from Florida that raced with us. It was like we dragged Florida up to South Georgia.
>> Yeah. Ran all the same people.
>> Georgia Georgia brought like four cars, five cars maybe, and zero spectators.
I've never seen a race with that little spectator count.
>> And the problem with that is I don't even care personally, but it's a bad look to the track that's opening up. and letting you host an event there when nobody's paying for them to keep the track open. They have staff they have to keep there. They have their facility they have to pay for that weekend. To them, it's a burnt weekend. Like they got guys like garbage they have to clean up because the racers still leave garbage and everything else. And they had vendors there that aren't selling things. And like it's [ __ ] mess. It's And not only that, it's embarrassing.
It was embarrassing. I was like, "What the fuck?"
So, I don't know. That track, honestly, if we could host an event there, that is the [ __ ] best place to host an event.
That is like one of the nicest tracks.
And the staff and the owner are badass people. Like, I've never worked with such easy, agreeable, you know, trying to they put in as much effort as we did to try to make the event awesome.
