Karnataka Chief Minister Resigns As Deputy Prepares For Top Post Amid Cabinet Reshuffle Talks

And now what we are learning about is Chief Minister Sidra Maya has finally resigned because his resignation has been accepted by the Karnataka governor. Remember the resignation letter was submitted by Sidra Maya yesterday itself to log Pavan where the secretary had accepted that very resignation letter. However, the resignation was not formally accepted because that is only that power is only vested in the governor. Only he can be accepting that very resignation letter from the chief minister. He returned to Bengaluru last night from Madhya [music] Pradesh itself. Remember earlier we had told you about how the governor had to leave uh abruptly from Bengaluru to Madhya Pradesh for family emergency reasons. [music] However, he had come back and he was slated to come back around 7:30 p.m.

However, he came back a little later and now Sidraaya's resignation letter has been accepted and we are showing you that visual of the letter exclusively on India [music] Today itself. It's been quite a uh quite a action-packed 24 hours since yesterday with Siday having uh resigned publicly of course in that press conference where he announced it. Then he had that meeting with BK Ghumar and the rest of his cabinet before he submitted the letter to the Lok Bhavan and now it's been formally accepted is what we are learning.

He's come back late in the evening to Bengaluru and overnight he's accepted the resignation letter and we have accessed Sidra Maya's resignation letter was just oneline resignation saying that uh I hereby uh tender my resignation. I hereby tender my resignation as the chief minister of Karnataka. Please accept it. Warm regards. That's the letter that we are flashing it on our screens also. And uh the governor has accepted this letter of resignation and then written back to the chief minister saying continue as the caretaker chief minister till alternate arrangements are made which means that uh till the new oath taking ceremony is done. Sidamaya will continue to be the oath caretaker of Karnataka chief as the chief minister and the next big step will be the CLP meeting. A Congress party would be calling a CLP meeting as early as tomorrow is what we are told where DK Shukumar will be elected then as the party floor leader with collection of signatures of all 140 MLAs. It would be given to the Rajbon or the Lok Bh and then Dhukumar will proceed with the new further oath taking as the CM of Karnataka.

[00:03:02]So Nagashan at this point the bigger question that remains is what is the date that shall be finalized for DK Shivkumar's uh swearing in ceremony while both leaders DK Shipkumar and Siddhraay are traveling to they are already in the national capital and they're slated to meet the Gandhi shortly. Uh there's the entire conversation that will take place around who shall be included in the cabinet but the swearing in ceremony what are we given to understand so far in terms of dates most likely it's going to be either on the 1st or the third but Monday is what uh it's going to be is what we are told once DK shukar and sided comes back they'll officially start inviting after the CP they'll start inviting the congress other state chief minister the dignities the vips the who of karnat will all be invited to the oath taking ceremony. June 1st is when we are looking at that's the Monday and this date also is considered auspicious for DK Shukumar is what he and his well-wishers are saying. DK Shukumar has gone to Delhi right now to meet the party high command to also discuss the cabinet expansion the new cabinet that will be formed uh the Rajya Sabha seats the MLC seats that will be done together once for all they'll be having this discussion both CM and uh in fact the caretaker CM and this the deputy chief minister now DK Shukar will be both meeting the high command Malik Junari Rahul Gandhi and Casey Vindu Gopal to discuss the new 30 member cabinet and the Rajya Sabha seats as well. So all eyes on the CLP meeting tomorrow on the screen screens you can our viewers can see the letter that we are flashing of Sidraaya resignation that he says I hereby tender my resignation as a chief minister of karnatak and now this letter has been accepted 3 p.m. is when Sidra handed over this letter to the governor office when governor was not there in Lokan it was received by his private secretary Mr. Pankage Ma and this morning we have got an official notification from the Lok Bhan that the uh resignation letter has been accepted and he continues to be the caretaker chief minister of Karnataka until alternate arrangements are made here.

We are showing that very uh letter as you mentioned with the official letterhead of the government of Karnataka along with a date which is 28. That's when he uh submitted the very resignation letter and it was uh later on accepted by the governor late in the night once he returned from Madhya Pradesh. Nagarajun uh the bigger qu another big question that comes to the to to the uh very arena at this point to the forefront rather is is the fact that who all shall be included in that cabinet of DK Shivkumar there are certain demands that's already been made by Sidraaya himself including his for his son and the loyalists the ones who support him within the very party and today with that c with that meeting that will take place with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi they will be finalizing who actually shall be part of the cabinet. What are you learning on that front?

[00:06:07]>> All permutation combinations are being worked out right now uh in uh uh in the party high command headquarters also uh deputy chief ministers to have or not to have the party high command feels that they need to be two minimum two deputy chief ministers or maybe more. DK Shukmar however doesn't want any deputy chief ministers. He doesn't want uh the party his power center to be diluted his power to be questioned. CM uh the caretaker CM had one deputy and DK Shukma doesn't want any deputy and they'll have lot of young blood is what we are told Rahul Gandhi has stressed upon fresh blood young blood and more women representative in the cabinet.

[00:06:46]They had one women representative in the cabinet as the minister. She was Laxmi Abbalkar. And now Rahul Gandhi has specifically told them to have people under 50 in much more powerful portfolio so that they carry the ideology and party forward for the next 25 years. and more women also because women reservation bill would has been passed.

[00:07:04]has to be implemented now and Congress has to walk the talk and they want to prove that in Karnataka government that uh they uh would take up more women in the cabinet and OBC's definitely because uh chief minister has stepped down Sidra has stepped down as a CM he belongs to the OBC community and to have a balance among all of that they would need uh more OBC representation and more Dalith representation and that's the reason this uh meeting would be of all stakes involved right now >> right now Gjun definitely it's a it's a tricky situation more than a tricky situation it's it's it's very important that DK Shvkumar indeed gets that uh right equation that sits within his cabinet the the the right power balance is struck when he selects his cabinet ministers and more importantly who shall be given what portfolios shall be very important in in in also deciding how the next two years of governance goes for the congress that's going to be continuing till uh for the next two years and that'll also set the precedence for how their campaign goes how they project the entire government under the leadership of DK Shepkumar for the next elections that would be taking place in 2028. the very crucial developments taking place in the state of Karnataka at this given
