The Texas Senate runoff between Ken Paxton (Republican) and James Talarico (Democrat) has become one of the most significant 2026 midterm battlegrounds because Democrats need to net four seats to regain Senate control, and Texas represents a critical opportunity since Democrats haven't won a Senate seat there in over 30 years; if Talarico wins, Democrats would reach 51% and take control, making this race a potential turning point for the entire Senate map.

SHOCKING: Why The Texas Senate Race Just Became Democrats' Biggest OpportunityAdded:
What's going on everyone? Welcome back to the show. So, it's going to be Taller Rico versus Paxton. So, we had a live stream last night. We watched the Texas runoff and we saw Paxton just I mean this this wasn't even a race from from the start. We were watching the live stream in the first like the first minute we saw that Paxton had the lead and he never lost it. And so they called it. It was about 50% of the precincts reporting and they called it. And so this is what we're looking at here with the final numbers. 800 not not the not quite the final numbers. We still have 95% uh 95%'s reporting. So we still have five more percent. But right now you have Paxton at 887,435 and you have Cornin at 52,118. So Paxton got 63% uh 63.86%. Cornin got 36.14%. And we're looking at Decision Desk. And so in this video, I want to show you I want to show you Paxton. This is going to be a very ugly race. We're going to be following this race very closely. There's a lot at stake. I'll show you at the end of this video why Texas could be a crucial seat. If Democrats can gain Texas, they'll probably be able to take back control of the Senate. But everyone in the US, they're going to have their eyes on this race in Texas. And there's one thing that we know right now. This is going to be very, very ugly. So, let me go ahead. I want to show you the clips. So, I'll show you a couple of video clips and then we'll talk a little bit about them. But first off, you guys can do me a favor. Please like the video. If you're watching this video and you want to see more content like this, please consider subscribing to the channel. So, first we're going to listen to Paxton. Now, one thing, and this is I'm really going to be hyperfocused on this when it comes to Texas. What are the issues? How do you plan to solve them? That's what I'm going to be focused on. what we saw from Paxton and this is just a clip so I don't you know I watched most of what he was saying but he didn't really come out with his his plan moving forward uh if he were to win in November and so I'm going to be listening for that because I think that's very important.
So what Paxton is doing in this clip he's taking a playbook from President Trump. He's just out there just throwing stuff calling names nicknames all that stuff for Terico. But you're going to have to come up with solutions, people. That's what people are going to want to hear. And so, let me go ahead and play this clip and then we'll talk about it. Here we go. My opponent is the most extreme radical the Democrats have ever nominated. He's even running a vegan campaign, whatever that is. And he is reading a teleprompter, too, which I find I mean, when you're when you're throwing out that kind of stuff, insults and stuff, you're using a pro teleprompter, which means you planned ahead. This is what I'm going to talk about. It's, you know, that that that says a lot. In that teleprompter, he should have data, facts, things that he wants to accomplish. But just to throw, you know, sling mud, you have to have that in the teleprompter. That's kind of weird. He goes by a few names that you may all have heard of. Some people know him as Tofu Telerico. Some people call him sixthgender Jimmy. I've even heard some people call him James Telerico and others refer to him simply as low tea Telerico. And so that was Ken Paxton. Now let's listen to Terico. He's also going to be slinging a little mud. Here we go. This is the first time you've joined us where you know who you'll be running against in November. Is this the campaign you wanted? Terrio versus Paxton. Is this the opponent you wanted out of this Republican primary? Well, Kim Paxton embodies the broken political system that we're running against. He is the most corrupt politician in America. 3 years ago tomorrow, he was impeached by his own party for using his public office, his position of public trust to enrich himself and his donors at our expense. And that is exactly the problem in our politics. It's puppet politicians who serve themselves and their billionaire mega donors instead of serving us. It's why we can't afford anything. It's why we can't get ahead no matter how hard we work. The system is rigged by corrupt politicians like Ken Paxton. And so it's going to be all of us. It's going to be Democrats, independents, and Republicans. It's going to be urban Texans, rural Texans, suburban Texans. It's going to be all of us coming together, the people versus Ken Paxton. Okay, so that was Terico. Now, Terico did sling a little bit of mud, but when you look back in history, a lot of that stuff happened. So, you had Ken Paxton impeached by Republicans, Republicans in the state legislature, they impeached him. Now, in the Senate, he was acquitted. So, that it didn't go any further than that. And you had 60 Republicans vote to impeach Paxton and 61 Democrats voted to impeach Paxton. And there were only 23 Republicans in the state legislature that voted no. And so the vast majority of Republicans in the state legislature voted to impeach Ken Paxton. And so there's something there. Now, when we watched Ken Paxton, Ken Paxton was just pretty much on a comedy tour. He was just calling Terico different names. He's trying to I think he's trying to play the He's weird. He's strange. Don't vote for him.
But ultimately, this is going to be about the economy. This is going to be about affordability.
You saw Tarico touch on that the reason why we're having problems, the problems that we're having today is because of corruption and this corruption is causing us to have to pay more. And so I think that's a good message. Now I think Teru is going to need to lean in further when it comes to affordability. That's going to need to be the talk. Uh the corruption people in Texas know that Kim Paxton has, you know, has that history. You can remind people in Texas about that, but I think the main focus should be on the fact that things just aren't affordable. Gas prices are on the rise when we're looking at food prices. They're also on the rise. So, just to get ahead, people, you know, people right now are struggling and there's no end in sight when we're looking at this war in Iran. And I know Ken Paxton is not currently in, you know, DC, but he's been endorsed by President Trump. and Taler Rico is going to need to tie in Ken Paxton to the current administration and how things are going with the current administration. So, I'm interested to hear more policy. I've heard some policy from Telerica already. Haven't heard much from Ken Paxton, so I'm going to be interested to see what his plan moving forward is. I also want to hear Ken Paxton answer some serious questions when it comes to what's going on right now. The war in Iran, how do you think that should be resolved? when it comes to food prices, when it comes to gas prices, how, you know, how what policy do you have in mind to to deal with that? Now, if we hear Ken Paxton, this is probably what we're going to hear in the future because what we've heard from a lot of politicians, especially politicians that are running uh for reelection, they're out there, they're talking mainly, we're looking at Republicans mainly when I'm talking about this. They're looking at this administration. They know things are bad, but instead of talking about what's bad going on right now, they go back to Biden. Well, when Biden was president, inflation was at this number. That's not going to work. And it's not going to work because the American people are struggling now. They don't care what happened back when Biden was in office. And the reality is one of the reasons why Biden is not in office right now is I mean we can go back to June of of 2022 when we saw inflation skyrocket to 9.1%. Now inflation came down and by the time President Biden left office, he left it at 3%. But people remember how they struggled back in 2022. And I've said this before and I'll say it again. When it comes to inflation back then, it was a different time. We were coming out of a pandemic. We had supply chain shortages. We had a war in Ukraine. So, there was a lot of different things that were going on that were out of the president's control. Right now, we're looking at gas prices increasing. And the reason why gas prices are increasing is because the straight of Hermoose is closed. And President Trump had a direct impact on the situation that we're in right now. So we can look at President Trump and say this is a result of your actions. And so when it was Biden, it was it was it was different.
But when you hear politicians out there talking about this and trying to say, well, you know, but Biden, but Biden, they're not telling you all the circumstances around that. They're just making it sound like, you know what, Biden was president. Gas prices increased. It's his fault. Okay.
Now we're in a situation where it realistically is President Trump's fault because of the actions that President Trump took. That's the reason why we're seeing higher prices at the pump. And we were already seeing higher prices when it comes to groceries and and other products as a result of tariffs. You remember tariffs. We're not even talking about tariffs anymore, but we do still have some tariffs that are active and that's causing prices to increase as well. Okay. Now, let's go ahead and take a look at our Senate map. I just want to go over this really briefly. I like to do this at the end of the video just to show you why everyone is paying attention to these different states and Texas is one of them. So, we're looking at Democrats and independents at 47.
We're looking at Republicans at 53. So, Democrats need to net four seats. Democrats right now, they're going to be defending states like Georgia, Michigan, and New Hampshire. They have to defend those states. They can't lose those states. But when we start looking at some of the other states here, we can look at North Carolina. We can look at Maine. And right now, Democrats have an advantage in both of those states. So, they have a real good shot at flipping both of those states. But after that, now we're starting to look at states that'll be a little bit closer, a little bit more of a challenge. I think Alaska is going to be a state where Democrats have a real shot. Pelola has a real shot to win. Sullivan is a Republican. He is the incumbent. So, it's not going to be easy for Pelola, but I think she has a really good shot of winning. So, let's just put a scenario in place where Democrats win in Alaska. Now we're looking at Democrats and independents at 50 and we're looking at Republicans at 50. And so if we're looking at Democrats at 50 and Republicans at 50, the vice president comes in and breaks the tie. So Republicans would maintain control of the Senate. And so Democrats need to win one more seat. And that's why when we're looking at Texas, Texas, we're going to be watching Texas very closely because when we look at some of the other states here, we have Texas, we have Iowa, we have Ohio. Those are probably going to be the states that are uh the best opportunity for Democrats to flip. And looking at some of the latest polling, it looks like Taller Rico does have some momentum. I'm interested to see what polling is going to show us now that we know Paxton is the the nominee for the Republicans. What is that going to change anything? I was listening to Cornin's concession speech and it sounds like Cornin will endorse Paxton in the future. And so that will definitely help Paxton because some of those votes that Cornin received, they will go ahead and vote for for Paxton. Some of them won't. I mean, there there's some people that are out there in Texas that are just they they just don't want Paxton at all. And that's why they were voting for Cornin even though going leading into this, people kind of had that idea, you know what, Paxton's probably going to win. We had an endorsement from the president. And so, I mean, they they kind of knew that it was going to be hard for Cornin to win, but they voted for him anyway. So some of those people, they might not vote for a Paxton at all. But if we're looking at this map, I would say the two best opportunities for Democrats going to be in Texas and Ohio. I think Ohio with Shared Brown, I think he has a real shot of winning. When it comes to Texas, I also think that Tal Rico has a shot to win. So if we did see a scenario where Tal Rico won in Texas, now we're looking at Democrats and independents at 51, Republicans at 49, Democrats would take back control of the Senate. And then when we're looking at Ohio, this is going to be another close race.
You have Sherid Brown running against Houston. I think Sherid Brown has a real shot at winning because Sherid Brown has done this before. He did lose in 2024, but he's won a Senate race before in Ohio, whereas Houston has never won a Senate race. He was appointed to the position. So, this is his real first shot at running uh for Senate. And so, we'll have to see how it plays out. But if we did see a scenario where Sherid Brown won, then we would see Democrats and independents at 52, Republicans at 48. And so Democrats would have a little bit of a cushion. And some people are saying that, you know what, that cushion would be good because we don't know what's going on with Federman right now. And because of that, if you have a little bit of a cushion when it comes to different votes, maybe you'll be able to get some of these votes over the finish line without Federman. So that's something. And then we also can talk about independence. I usually talk about that in separate videos, but we're looking at Nebraska. You have a possibility here of Osborne winning in Nebraska, beating the Republican. So, that would help Democrats as well. But all in all, we're going to be watching Texas very closely. And I will be doing multiple videos in the future about Texas because I think this is a really, really interesting race. The biggest story here is will Democrats be able to actually win a Senate seat in Texas? They haven't won a Senate seat in over 30 years in Texas. And so, will they be able to flip Texas? But I want to know what you guys think. So let me know in the comments below. What do you think about this whole situation?
What do you think about the runoff? Do you think uh Paxton is a better candidate to run against Terico than Cornin would have been? Let me know in the comments below.
