Honey Laid a HUGE Clutch of Eggs!Added:
Okay, it is April 17th. It's technically a day off, but I made a detour running some errands because honey, our pastel special is getting really close to laying eggs. So, oh, nothing yet. Okay, I'll leave you be and I'll check tomorrow. Okay, it's been a couple days.
Ready to check?
>> Sure.
>> Okay, honey.
Oh. Oh, >> I see a white thing in there.
>> I do, too.
>> Oh, she's being such good mama. Oh, we have ball python eggs.
She looks so cute wrapped around her eggs. A >> we need to take those.
>> We do. The reason why we have to remove her from her eggs is because pythons are one of the unique species of snakes that don't actually drop their eggs and then leave them like hog noses and bullsnakes and many other snakes do. Pythons, as you can see, actually wrap around their clutch and they have the amazing ability to quickly contract their muscles. They kind of like shiver in a sense to increase the temperature of their eggs.
So, they can slightly change the temperature of the eggs only by like what a degree or two or something like that.
>> Not a whole lot.
>> Yeah. But during that process, which is about 2 months of incubation, they don't eat. They are such dedicated parents.
So, by removing the eggs, she will start eating again, which is good cuz she hasn't eaten in a while as it is while she was developing those eggs. So, for her own health, I'm sorry, baby. I have to take your eggies. Can I unwrap you?
What do we have here? Oh my gosh, look at all of those. Hi. You're such a good mama.
>> Oh my gosh. You can see how indented she is.
>> Yeah. Yeah. She needs some meals. This is why we are removing your eggs. Did you get them all out? Oh yeah, she definitely did.
>> It's like concave here.
>> There was a lot of space taken up by eggs in there. So now we'll give her probably a couple days and she'll come back to normal. She'll act normal and we'll get some meals back in her again.
Okay, girl. I'm going to put you here.
You look fantastic for having just laid a big clutch. How many do we have? 2 4 6 8 10. Oh my gosh, that is three clutches of 10 eggs each from her.
>> Oh, nice.
>> Yeah. every time she lays a clutch.
Usually ball python clutches are like six to eight eggs. So, the fact that she always lays 10 is just incredible. She didn't breed last year. She did take a year off. We wanted her to kind >> two years off.
>> Uh, no, it was just a season, was it?
Okay.
>> Yep. So, she took last year off, so she was definitely ready to go for this year. And man, she's back at it with 10 egg clutches.
>> Maybe later today I'll try and feed her.
>> Okay. Yeah, she deserves it. We're going to leave you in there, mama. And we're going to >> These are so big.
>> They are. These are ginormous. I'm so used to like hog noose eggs.
>> Who is dad?
>> Dad was Joker, who is a banana clown morph. We didn't pair her to banana bread this year because banana bread is busy doing programs nowadays. And by pairing her to a banana clown instead of just a banana, him being clown means all of the babies are going to be het clown.
And that means we have a variety of beautiful babies that we could make with this pairing. We could have bananas. We could have pastels cuz mom is a pastel special. We could have specials for that matter. Special passes down. And we could have a combination of those. We could have banana pastel special if we get all three. The trifecta, >> which I think we have hit in the past.
>> We did last time she bred and we kept that baby, which we will definitely show you in the hatching video of these eggs probably. I don't know. Do you want to show them in this video? We can do both.
Why not?
>> Okay. Do you want to see what the pastel banana special looks like?
>> Yes, Emily, we want to see it. There you go, audience. I'm your voice for today.
>> Okay. Okay. Here he is. This is Gdora.
He is a banana pastel special morph >> who is showing how to be a ball python.
>> Can you show yourself off at all? Oh, his face is tucked in there. He's very shy. He's always been shy.
>> Dude, show us your face.
>> And he's in shed, too. So, natural eyeball. Yeah, you can kind of see him.
He's usually brighter than this, but since he's in shed, naturally, he is not as pretty for the video, but you'll just the same size as the eggs right now.
>> Oh, no. He's a lot smaller. Never mind.
>> Buddy, look. These are your future siblings. Actually, I guess you could consider them your siblings. Okay, Gdora, you can go back and let's set up these eggs for incubation. We're going to put them in our lucky incubation tray. This box has hatched so many baby snakes. Last year, we had two clutches of false water cobras hatch in here. And this is from Ariel and Josie.
>> And we have good success because it says pound sign no slugs.
>> Yeah. And we have like near perfect success or 100% success rate when we hatch in this bin. So it's just great.
>> Want to bring back pound sign over hashtag.
>> Hashtag. Oh yeah, you're right. People say hashtag nowadays instead of Okay, that makes us sound really old.
>> Oh, I'm I know I'm old. I'm embracing it.
>> Okay, >> I'm going to start the new trend of let's go back to pound sign.
>> NICE.
>> WELL, that worked. Oh, it actually opened pretty well in all >> actually. Yeah. I knew today was going to be a good day when I beat the expert level in mind sweeper.
>> I did it.
>> Do you want to tell everybody how long it took you to do that?
>> Way too long. I have spent hours and hours and hours, but I finally beat expert level.
>> IT'S BEEN LIKE 2 weeks of you playing this game.
>> I KNOW. AND I BEAT IT.
>> YOU DIDN'T EVEN log in. You didn't even sign up and log in so you can have it on your account.
>> I didn't know you could log in. It's okay. I still beat it. And this is video proof.
>> Yeah. It only took you like two weeks of solid trying at that game, but you did beat it.
>> I haven't closed that tab yet.
>> You haven't?
>> No. I I keep looking at it like, yeah, I finally beat it.
>> Now you're going to do the thing where you don't play the game anymore.
>> Oh, no. I'll still play. Don't worry.
>> Uh, we'll see.
>> I'm still addicted to that game.
>> Next, I have to try the evil uh level.
That's after expert.
>> Is that all guessing?
>> Uh, no. It's just a bigger map. Okay. So there is more guessing involved because there's always some guessing in mind sweeper and since there's more squares you naturally have to guess more I guess. Makes >> sense.
>> But next I have to beat evil level.
Okay. What do you think? A little more >> maybe. Yeah.
>> I mean they are a tropicalish species.
So >> let's add that much. That feels about right.
Also, you might notice I don't have my wedding ring on. Ed doesn't even know why. Guess who chewed on my wedding ring? Bent it. Yep. This morning she bented with a quick little chomp of her beak. So now I have to go get it fixed.
Anyway, do you think we'll be able to separate these eggs?
>> They did look like some of them were anyway. So >> Oh yeah, they are separating. So we like to separate eggs and into at least one singular level or layer of eggs. That way they all come into the same amount of contact with the perlite below.
>> You're also not having a baby struggle to get out underneath.
>> Yeah, but I do have to be careful. These are kind of stuck. Well, I might need scissors for that bit.
>> Well, I have a knife.
>> Oh, that'll work. Here. You want to separate those two?
There we go. Perfect. All right. Well, we can separate some of these at least.
All right, we have them all nestled in and comfy. And now we have to mark the topmost part of each egg.
>> We ended up only taking this one off because all the rest of them are really stuck together.
>> Yeah. So, they're all one level. And I just don't want to risk tearing anything cuz they were really stuck. So, this will work well though cuz they're all coming into a good amount of contact with that perlite. We're almost done going through our list of suggestions for themes and we're going to do coffee today, but somebody has to send us a new list of ideas because I mean, we keep running out of ideas and you guys are more creative than we are. So, let's do a coffee theme.
>> All right.
I present to you our coffee themed clutch. Let's see if Ed can guess everything. Uh, we'll start with the thing I broke last night.
>> Oh, yeah. The coffee pot that you threw on the ground.
>> Yeah, we need a new one. I can't >> I already bought one.
>> Okay. Yeah. I couldn't have coffee this morning because I broke it. So, that's why I'm thinking I need to do a coffee.
Okay.
>> Uh, coffee cup. Yep.
>> Is that one of the turkey Turkish coffee makers?
>> Uh, sure. The thing that you pour a little bit out.
>> Yeah. You put it in the sand and warm it up. Yeah, that's that's what that is.
>> Okay. Sure. This is supposed to be like a paper filtery thing filtering through.
I don't know what it's called, but it's like >> Oh, a f not a French press. The cold cold brew. Is that what it is? Maker.
Yeah.
>> Creamer. Coffee bean. Latte art.
>> Pora filter.
>> Uh-huh.
>> A spoon.
>> Yeah. A spoon is essential for coffee making.
>> That's true. And an old school grinder.
>> That's right. Good job.
>> I know coffee stuff.
>> Yeah, it's our coffee connoisseur.
>> I don't I don't know anything to do with mushrooms or butterflies, but I do know coffee. Oh, what's uh how how long do ball pythons take to hatch?
>> 55 to 60 days. So, June 15th. I already looked it up.
>> Oh, okay. Cool.
>> Cool, cool, cool, cool.
>> See? Laid on >> 421.
Do uh 6:15.
>> All right, >> cool. Go.
>> Let's pop these guys in the incubator.
Our first clutch and probably only clutch of ball pythons this year. We're going to put these guys in our warmer incubator, which is the little one. We have the blue tree monitors still cooking. They take a half a year to incubate.
>> They're close though. Put them near the bottom. Yeah, where that one is.
>> Okay. Yeah, the blue tree monitors are getting really close to hatching.
>> Yeah, they're less than a month away.
>> Oh, no. I can't wait. And this guy is going to be for our cooler temperature species like our hog noose and bullsnakes. We need a lot more space for all of those clutches.
>> Yeah, I learned today that it was still cold in there. So, I'm warming it up to see if we're good. And then I'm going to shut it off because we don't need it running and just using up electricity.
>> Yeah, we're probably a week or two away from hog or bullsnake clutches, and we're going to wait until we have another species of eggs to round out today's video.
>> Well, it happens. The beginning of hognos egg season has begun. We got our very first clutch of hognose eggs. I have not seen them.
>> I stumbled across them.
>> And you said it was Athena.
>> Yeah, it's Athena.
>> Oh, Athena. Athena here was from our friend Kayla. And as far as I'm aware, this is her first time breeding. Is she still in here?
>> Yeah, I think so. So, I don't know if she's gotten them all out, but >> we have Oh my gosh, there's so many.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Wow.
>> Wow. Okay, I'm looking at her. It looks like >> she's deflated.
>> Yes, I don't feel anything stuck here.
Good job, girl. You got them all out.
>> Oh, there's even more.
>> Oh my gosh, look at all those eggs. She probably didn't eat any of them because >> I doubt it.
>> We probably should have cleaned her bin before we did this, but no big deal.
>> Yeah. Yeah, we haven't been here in a few days cuz we had a couple days of meet and greet and today is Monday >> and a lot of stuff decided to break this weekend that Ed had to take care of, so I wasn't able to be here.
>> Today is the big cleaning day and egg checking day. So, I apologize. We haven't gotten to the cleaning part yet cuz we had to check everybody for eggs.
And we have no eggs in this building except for hers. Well, and what's already in incubation?
>> Let's take a look at these eggs.
>> Actually, before we do that, let's meet Dad, who is right here.
>> His name is Buddy.
>> Buddy, come here, buddy. Oh, this is his first year breeding, too. And wow, actually thinking about it, we have a nice clutch for both of their first breeding seasons. This is fantastic.
>> I didn't think I I did. We'll see in the future, but I don't think I saw a slug in there.
>> Oh, really? Oh my gosh. Okay, so I I should probably take Athena out.
>> Yep. She can stay in her bin.
>> Yeah.
>> Come here, Athena. Here are the proud parents. Athena, the mom here, is an albino, as you can see, and she is het forexanthic. So, she is het snow cuz albino and aanthic combined make a snowmorph. Buddy here is a arctic. So, the means he has fewer spots, especially you can see compared to hers. The arctic is kind of an axanthicy look. You really can't tell when there's only one copy of the gene. kind of see the whites around the circles is what and it's more clean pattern wise I guess >> really you want to you want a super arctctic where they have two copies of the arctic gene to really see it >> also an enhancer so it makes other genes look better >> it does but he is also het snow which means he's double het for albino and axanthic so combining these that means we have a 50/50 shot of every egg being albino and a 1 in4 shot since they're both hetanthic so one over four * 1 over half a One in every eight chance of being a snow.
>> And then 50% on that top of that being Arctic.
>> Yeah. And >> Oh my gosh, there's so many possibilities. We could get kind of snows in this.
>> We could get kind of arctic snows.
>> Oh my gosh, we could.
>> I don't know what that would look like.
>> I don't know either. I guess let's set up these eggs for incubation and go from there. We have so many lay boxes right now. Uh, do you think the litter?
>> Yeah, >> I think that should work.
>> I think that'll be enough space.
>> We also have to do this.
Oh yeah, >> turning it on for the season.
>> Oh my gosh. First clutch to go in there.
I'm so excited. We have hognose babies on the way.
>> And look at that. We didn't clean up our mess from the ball pythons. So, we're ready to go.
>> Everything is still out. Look at that.
Okay, I'm going to get some perlite in here.
Mix in some water.
>> Breathe in the dust. And then make cottage cheese.
>> Forbidden cottage cheese.
>> Cottage cheese. Like cheese from some cottage. Who's cottage? Well, what what is that exactly?
>> It's a little crunchier than cottage cheese. Not that I know why.
>> Yeah, it doesn't taste like it either.
Trust me, guys.
>> Oh my god, guys. There's so many. I still can't believe that. Oh, maybe there's one slug. One slug down here.
So, guys, in case you're new to the channel, this is called a slug egg. It means it's not fertilized. It's just a bad egg essentially. And I would explain the differences, but you can kind of see them side by side.
>> No, almost no pressure. It squishes in.
This one's a lot more calcified. Yeah, more like a taut water balloon for your good eggs, which are also white and more rounded for hog noses.
>> Yeah, for hog noses versus the slug eggs, which are very squishy, bouncy.
They're like a a saggy water balloon and they're pointed at the ends and yellow, so >> they're also usually slimier.
>> Yeah, a little bit. This one's actually pretty dry, but you're right, they can be a little wet to the touch. But one slug there. I think that's it. Oh, everything else is good. Let's see how many we've got.
Oh my god, >> that is a monster clutch >> for the first timer. Two, four, six, eight, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17 good eggs in one slug.
>> 17 eggs in a mama.
>> Holy moly. All right.
>> She's not She's not a massive girl either.
>> No.
>> Which kind of goes to show if you slow raise them and you don't force them into breeding really quickly, you can get good results even with a smaller female.
>> Yeah. Guys, it it is worth letting your females grow that extra year. If they're on the fence for breeding, give them one more year and you will thank yourself later. Yes, this girl was probably big enough to breed last year, but we decided to let her go. And look at this.
>> I'm interested in that egg. We were kind of talking about it, but yeah, that's so little.
>> Well, the rest are all pretty averagesized.
>> Yeah, >> there's some that are smaller than others, but you're right. That one is teeny.
>> There's nothing wrong with being average sized.
>> Uh, yeah.
>> I'm making a Patreon post.
>> Are you?
>> Yes. I'm sharing with everyone that we have our very first eggs.
>> Yeah, we we share everything on Patreon.
Well, we try to. Yeah. We don't we can't share every single clutch, but >> it gets pretty busy. So, >> yes. So, now they know. At least they will once they see that post.
>> Exactly.
>> All right. So, what are we doing for a uh >> a theme >> theme for these guys?
>> There's a lot of eggs, so it has to be something small but plentiful. Do you want to do uh >> I'm just going to leave that one there.
>> That's what she said.
>> Do you want to do like texting abbreviations?
>> You could like LOL and RTFL and >> Yeah. Let's do it.
>> WTF, I guess.
>> Exactly. We'll see how the funk.
>> Well, yeah. I will see how well our viewers know their text lingo.
>> Sure.
Tada! Our acronyms.
>> Yeah. Here, let me pull this off of this tripod now since I don't need to hold this anymore. There we go.
>> It's so colorful, too.
>> It is. You did a bunch of different colors.
>> I did.
>> All right. Am I guessing what they are or are we guessing them together?
>> Uh, you're going to guess cuz I think I know what they all are.
Lots of love, right?
>> Yep. That's what it is. That's why you sign every email with LOL, guys.
>> Yeah. I don't know.
>> Oh, I think you do know this one.
>> I don't know. I know, right?
>> Yeah.
>> As soon as possible.
>> In real life, probably. Is that >> Yep. Yep. IRL. In real life.
>> Too long. Didn't read.
>> Yep.
>> Be right back.
>> Do you know this one?
>> IC, >> if I remember correctly.
>> Oh, I've never used that one. Oh, you haven't?
>> Nope. I don't give >> care.
>> Oh, that's a C. Okay, that makes sense.
I don't care.
>> Uh, the forward work.
>> Uh, oh, I forgot that one. Uh, uh, TFW.
>> You're the one who told me that one.
>> Did I tell you that one? Okay, give me a second.
>> I wrote it wrong. That's why we were confused. It's for the win.
>> TWW, not So, it's the for win.
>> The for win. Yes.
>> Uh, got to go.
>> Oh my god.
>> Talk to you later.
>> T Y L >> for For the win.
>> Oh, whoops. So, I did that one right.
What should this one be? Huh?
>> The frog wins.
>> Yeah, there we go.
>> Do you know this one? I gave you this one.
>> I don't know this one.
>> E1, two, three.
>> No, I've never used that.
>> You've never Okay, it's easy as one, two, three.
>> Oh, >> yeah. That was a good one. That's why I like that one.
>> Okay.
>> Down to frog. We're going to go herpin, right?
>> Yep. That's herping for frogs.
>> Essentially an abbreviation for do you want to go herping?
>> Yeah. And then, man, I like frogs.
>> Exactly. You got it. Nice. All right. We have >> So, the last two are just about herping.
>> Oh, yeah. I mean, it makes sense. Why would abbreviations not have herping involved?
>> Exactly.
>> Athena and >> Budman.
>> Buddy.
>> Okay, Google. What is 55 days past today? Sorry, everybody at home.
>> 55 days past.
>> Monday, April 27th, >> 26th.
>> June 21st.
>> June 21st 21. Nice.
>> Cool.
>> Oh, and we can show off the ball python eggs, too.
>> Oh, yeah. Let's check in on those. First things first, pop those in. First clutch of 2026. Oh, empty.
>> Yeah, first clutch of hogs. Anyway, it is. That's going to fill up.
>> Yes, it will.
>> Okay, ball pythons. How are you looking?
Oh, >> the coffee clutch still looks great.
They actually poofed out a little bit.
>> They did. They feel great. Oh, perfect.
None of those are going bad. And >> yeah, these guys, >> check on these. They're not part of this video, but Oh, they look so good. Oh my gosh.
>> Due to hatch in a few weeks, you'll see what they are when they come out if you don't already know.
>> Yeah, this video will be out before that. So, >> yes. So, the plan for this year's egg videos is we want to do a lot more from egg laying to babies hatching all in the same video. However, we also want you to know what species of snakes are currently cooking in the incubator. So, we're going to show you just egg videos for the first one or maybe two clutches of each species.
>> Unless we run out of video ideas and time more. Yeah, that that's true. But we're going to try to just do a few only egg videos and then mostly egg to hatching videos.
>> Exactly. So you'll see like Tammy Knocker here who is full of eggs right now. You'll see her laying eggs, us setting them up, then those eggs hatching, and then mama being a mama.
>> Yeah. All in the same video. That does mean that a lot of the baby videos are going to be or egg videos are going to be later in the year, but we still think it's fun to have it all encompassed in one video. So, but thank you for watching today's video. I hope you are as excited as we are for baby ball pythons, our probably one clutch this year and the first of hopefully many baby hog noose clutches. Thank you, Patreon backers. I hope you liked your sneak peek to those egg clutches. And we'll see you next time.
>> I think the boys all still want something. They're all at the front.
>> It's food, right?
>> Yeah, that's what they want. They want They are all at the front.
>> Holy moly.
>> They can see their girlfriends from across the way.
>> Yeah. And she's like, I want my boyfriend.
>> Yeah. I don't think they actually want the guys anymore. They just want food.
