I found a Historic ABANDONED Gothic Revival Cathedral forgotten for decades!

[00:00:00]What's going on, guys? Welcome back to another video. Today, I have an absolutely incredible location.

[00:00:07]We are checking out this abandoned cathedral right here. Huge, huge abandoned church. This place was built, I believe, around the 1880s, and it's been abandoned now for several decades.

[00:00:20]Uh, this place is huge. I don't know how many square feet it is or whatever, but really big place. Nice stained glass.

[00:00:29]It's got uh two spires. I think this one's going to be really cool. So, we'll take a quick walk around the exterior here and uh show you guys that and then we'll head inside. So, take a walk around the exterior.

[00:00:47]Now, I don't know too much about the the history of this place. just roughly when it was built.

[00:01:00]There's the side there. You can really see the size of this place. I think the inside's going to be incredible.

[00:01:09]And I'll show you guys the front over here as well.

[00:01:15]No cemetery, I'm surprised, with a big church like this.

[00:01:23]Uh, I'll come over here and show you guys the front.

[00:01:32]There's the front of it.

[00:01:34]Okay. 1890 is that uh corner block. So, that's when this was built, I guess. Uh, looks like it's going to be a really cool place.

[00:01:43]So, uh, I'll meet you guys inside the front door and let's check this place out. All right, guys. So, we're going to be starting this explore just inside the front door here. This is probably one of the best abandoned churches I've ever seen. I'm really excited to check this one out. So, right away when you come inside, it takes you into front entrance, which is really just kind of full of junk. I guess it was last used as a storage area. I see some renovation supplies here. Maybe that at one point they are planning on restoring this place.

[00:02:22]You can see the beautiful pointed arches there.

[00:02:29]Somebody ripped the new post right out for the stairs, which is too bad cuz that probably would have been nice.

[00:02:40]Look at this gorgeous staircase. So, we'll go up there a little bit later.

[00:02:48]This place has really seen better days, which is too bad. You can see stairs have been smashed. A bunch of the spindles have been ripped out.

[00:03:03]Tons of paperwork, random stuff.

[00:03:07]Just the woodwork in here is gorgeous.

[00:03:09]So, I believe this place was built in the 1880s, something somewhere around there.

[00:03:14]Uh, but just look at this. It's absolutely incredible. The Gothic vaults.

[00:03:21]This place is a perfect example of Gothic Revival architecture.

[00:03:30]Beautiful stained glass. Those ones are still pretty intact. Unfortunately, a lot of them have been smashed out.

[00:03:42]A lot of random stuff here, but these uh moldings up there are gorgeous. I believe these are plaster. And then the main chapel, I think they're stone.

[00:03:54]And you can see there actually is a kind of mosaic tile floor here.

[00:04:00]It's uh so covered in spilled paint, graffiti, and stuff, you can't even really see it.

[00:04:15]Give you guys a little look at the uh chapel. We'll go there in a minute.

[00:04:26]Yeah, this is just so so cool.

[00:04:34]Bunch of fencing. A lot of just random stuff in here.

[00:04:41]Come into this room. I almost expected to see another staircase here, but no.

[00:04:46]Got another front door.

[00:04:56]Look at those windows. Wow.

[00:05:05]Really cool. All right, let's head this way.

[00:05:08]Now, the light's not going to do much in this room just cuz it's so big. This is absolutely incredible. You could see Well, look at this pillar here first.

[00:05:18]It's all made out of I believe limestone is what it looks like. Sandstone possibly.

[00:05:27]Really in a bad state of decay. There's actually some fire damage in here, too.

[00:05:32]That's why all the stone is so blackened.

[00:05:35]But just take a look at this. The gorgeous stained glass windows. The ceiling in here must be 40 ft tall.

[00:05:42]It's It's absolutely gorgeous even in this state of decay. You know, it's sad to see it so decayed like this, but pretty cool. You can see even in this section all these like building materials which I don't know why they're here cuz a lot of them don't really have anything to do with like a a church like a bunch of like doors for like a house.

[00:06:07]Like I don't know what those are here for.

[00:06:12]But yeah, look at this. There's the balcony up there.

[00:06:17]Architecture here is so nice. like Gothic revival architecture like this is it's definitely my favorite style. I think it's really cool. Like this is like something you would see in Europe, like not usually in North America. So that's why this is just so cool.

[00:06:37]This side, all the stained glass is pretty well boarded, but you come over here, you can still see the light shining through it. Unfortunately, a lot of it's been bashed out by vandals.

[00:06:48]Um, just like all the graffiti, it really sucks. I don't know why this place got so destroyed.

[00:06:58]Really sucks that people have to vandalize a place like this. But anyways, the architecture is just so fascinating to me.

[00:07:09]I've never seen anything like this in my life. So, this door has VPS on it.

[00:07:14]vacant property securing. I've never seen I've never seen anything like this. Look at how many pieces of uh steel and everything they put across this this whole wood frame.

[00:07:30]I've I've never seen anything like that before to secure a building.

[00:07:37]That's That's a first. That's crazy.

[00:07:39]Usually with VPS, they just put like two of these or maybe three of them across.

[00:07:42]Not like that. Like that's just crazy.

[00:07:51]Oh wow. Look at the uh round window up there. That's phenomenal.

[00:07:57]And there's that huge balcony. We'll go up there.

[00:08:01]That's where the staircase goes. I also noticed all the way around you have these things. I'm not sure exactly what that was would be for.

[00:08:14]So, there's one church pew left there.

[00:08:16]It's flipped over.

[00:08:19]And there's all these here. I think these are the legs for the pews or something.

[00:08:25]All piled up.

[00:08:28]You got this, which would have been up there, I think, at one point.

[00:08:35]Like even off to the side here. Look at how amazing that is. Let me just zoom in at some of the painted ceilings here.

[00:08:45]That's all carved out of stone. Like the ceilings are all painted. That's carved out of stone.

[00:08:51]I'm sure it was all probably painted or like wallpaper at some point, but it's all burned fire damage now, which makes it hard to see.

[00:09:01]This is incredible here. Look at this.

[00:09:13]Wow, that's amazing.

[00:09:24]That's uh that's really really cool.

[00:09:29]So, if we stand up here, take a look at the church. Look at that.

[00:09:35]Absolutely incredible. You have this wall here. I believe this is wallpaper.

[00:09:41]Again, it's hard to see because it's just so decayed in here. There's so much uh fire damage. It might be painted. No, it's painted.

[00:09:50]That's all hand painted. That's incredible. So, yeah, there's probably no wallpaper in here. It's all painted.

[00:09:58]So, you know, it's really sad to see this place so destroyed like this with I don't think any restoration plans or anything.

[00:10:08]And they've VPS over everything back here, which usually you see in like Detroit and stuff.

[00:10:20]This is probably the kitchen pretty smashed up and graffitied.

[00:10:27]Just sucks that people come to a place like this and instead of enjoying it, they just smash everything.

[00:10:37]Come over here. That's the way in.

[00:10:43]Which I was so surprised that this place is just completely wide open.

[00:10:48]Somebody completely destroyed the wall.

[00:10:59]There's the basement. Got to go down the ladder. So, we'll check that out later.

[00:11:06]All right, let's uh let's go upstairs cuz I think we've seen everything on the main floor here, right? Did we go in here? I don't think so. Oh, you got another organ there just smashed up unfortunately.

[00:11:27]I don't even know what this is thing.

[00:11:28]Just a uh Yeah, just a door to outside.

[00:11:36]So, uh yeah, let's head upstairs. Check that out.

[00:11:46]Building is so beautiful.

[00:12:02]I think the stairs were over here where we started. Yeah.

[00:12:16]Oh, slippery.

[00:12:20]Yeah, you can see unfortunately a lot of the stained glass is smashed, which is really too bad.

[00:12:39]Yeah, that's why I slipped cuz all these steps are broken. I don't know how they get broken. I think people throw stuff down the stairs there. I don't know.

[00:12:55]It's a newer door stairs. That probably goes up into one of the towers.

[00:13:03]This way to heaven. Yeah, it probably goes up to the towers. Look at this.

[00:13:15]That's pretty cool.

[00:13:23]I think this is the organ or it was. Yeah, it definitely was. But it looks like scrappers cut out all the all the internal parts. Unfortunately, it's like nothing left of it now.

[00:13:46]Yeah, here's the uh organ controls here, keyboard and everything.

[00:13:56]Unfortunately, it's pretty smashed up.

[00:14:02]It's that big window.

[00:14:17]Yeah, that's so cool. Stained glass windows way up near the top as well.

[00:14:24]It's uh it's good those aren't boarded up cuz it definitely makes it a little bit lighter in here a lot. It would be pitch black if they were. So yeah, this was the organ. Let's see if this side has anything intact.

[00:14:37]And definitely not. No, it's like collapsed here. Like all the uh pipes and everything looks like scrappers ripped them all out.

[00:14:47]So that's too bad.

[00:14:50]Let's have a look at this side. Look at that.

[00:14:57]What do we got here?

[00:15:01]Furnace. And I could see downstairs, this is just OSB with like a few uh 2 by sixes, so you could fall through that.

[00:15:09]That's pretty dangerous. They definitely should have put uh real plywood on there.

[00:15:16]And they put a more modern door here.

[00:15:18]So, this probably goes up into the other tower. So, there's two of them.

[00:15:24]So, we can uh go up this one. I guess they're probably the same.

[00:15:35]Let's see. Well, that's a small opening.

[00:15:39]Got a duck.

[00:15:45]Oh, wow. Look at this.

[00:15:49]That's wide open.

[00:15:57]This is really cool.

[00:16:02]That window's completely smashed out right to outside.

[00:16:07]And these windows aren't stained glass surprisingly. It's just clear glass, but the design is still really cool.

[00:16:20]Pretty neat. Cool to see all the brick work and stuff. So, let's make our way up.

[00:16:28]It's kind of a cool staircase.

[00:16:34]There's actually a door here. Looks like it goes on the roof.

[00:16:41]Is that open? No.

[00:16:44]Wow. This is steep. This is almost like a ladder here.

[00:16:49]Hold on. I know it's dark, guys, but I want to have one hand on the handrail.

[00:16:58]Oh, wow.

[00:17:01]That is dangerous.

[00:17:08]Got to be very, very careful here.

[00:17:16]Okay, it's pitch black. I want to turn a light on.

[00:17:25]cuz that's a long drop if this floor were to break. So, know there's a beam here.

[00:17:40]Keeps going up. Wow.

[00:17:43]Hold on. There's dust all over the camera.

[00:17:46]That's better.

[00:17:53]Oh, wow.

[00:17:59]Oh, here's the top.

[00:18:02]And it still goes up like another 40 ft probably.

[00:18:10]People have ripped this mesh right out.

[00:18:13]I know people that would go and like sit on there. I don't know. Oh, I'm not going to. That's dangerous. And everybody can see you.

[00:18:23]Got piece of slate here from the roof. I think this whole building has a slate roof.

[00:18:28]Yeah, there is kind of a ladder. Not much of it left, but I bet at one point there's ladders going all the way up.

[00:18:35]Yeah, the whole building has a slate roof, which is cool. You know what? We'll go over here cuz this one just faces the roof.

[00:18:48]Uh yeah, there's the whole roof the other tower which I don't think there's any need to go to because uh it's going to be the same as this. Now look at that is an abandoned I think school right there. So I'll be checking that out after that. I don't know if it's any good. Might be its own video. We'll see.

[00:19:15]But yeah, this is cool.

[00:19:19]All right, I'm going to take some pictures up here and uh we're going to head back down. I think just the basement to check out. So, uh I'll meet you guys down there. It's It's safer just to walk down the stairs holding the handrails without the camera anyway. So, meet you guys on the ground floor. We'll go check out the basement. All right, guys. So, we're back onto the ground level. Let's go check out the basement.

[00:19:42]See if we can even get down there. It has like a kind of a sketchy ladder. So, let's go take a look.

[00:19:58]So, the basement's right beside the wide open hole in the wall.

[00:20:05]So, there's a ladder resting on like a pile of junk.

[00:20:12]Uh, let's see. I think it's doable. Let me just turn the camera off and see if I can get down there. All right, guys. I made it down. You better like this video cuz I climbed down all that. But we are in the basement of the church.

[00:20:29]Obviously, it's flooded. It's like slop mud. the floor.

[00:20:38]Boilers.

[00:20:45]Yeah, it is.

[00:20:48]Big steel door that literally just goes into a crawl space. So, most of this church doesn't even have a basement, which is surprising. Just a crawl space full of asbestous.

[00:21:05]Huh? So, there's not much to this basement at all.

[00:21:12]What's over here? Oh, this is bad mud.

[00:21:17]Nothing.
