Public universities are meant to be open forums for debate, but sometimes campus police officers forget exactly how the Constitution works. A man is openly preaching his religious beliefs on a college sidewalk when an officer suddenly interrupts him based on a complaint from a passer by. Before asking any real questions, the officer immediately demands identification and threatens to arrest the preacher for causing a public disturbance. Notice how the citizen refuses to be bullied, pulling out his camera and boldly challenging the officer to actually make the arrest over legally protected speech. Well, Roman Catholics don't believe in the Bible alone. They they so they believe in >> No, not at all. Because we'd rather bother you so you don't go to hell and you're not going to be saved in Roman Catholicism.

[00:01:12]Roman Catholicism has many things that it adds to the Bible and God is very explicit. Says that if you add anything to this word that you will have his curse.

[00:01:24]Roman Catholicism does not believe in the Bible alone. It believes in tradition. It believes in the priests are mediators. Mary's a mediator. But the Bible says we have only one mediator. Well, Roman Catholic >> out about Jesus. So why be a Catholic then? which is counterfeit. Why is he a fake Christian >> fussing us out?

I can't yell fire in a in a theater, but I can preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. And part of being a Christian is that if somebody is telling me that they don't believe or whatever, I can say to them that if you're going to die in your trespasses and your sins, the Bible clearly says that a person will go to hell if they don't have faith in Jesus Christ.

I mean, if you arrest me, then I would use that as evidence to show that we even still, we are Christians. We believe in what the scripture says. But there are people that have the first amendment right to say pretty much anything that they want. We don't have those telling anything I don't already know. The things that are said to us are protected by First Amendment as well, right?

When off like we've had officers here when students are in your face and they're screaming and they're being silly and they're acting a fool. We're here to keep you safe.

[00:20:54]>> Having a firm grasp of your civil rights is the only way to shut down an unlawful threat from law enforcement. The initial officer let his emotions take control, trying to use the threat of handcuffs to force the preacher into silence.

[00:21:06]Fortunately, the citizen held his ground until a supervising sergeant arrived to clean up the mess. The sergeant correctly admitted that the campus police could not punish someone for their religious message. Even if other students found the words offensive, she still tried to smoothly convince him to hand over his name.
