[00:06:26]Equal time or overreach. The FC is investigating the view. Why are they doing this? And you can see here, this is the uh this is the investigation paperwork from the FCC. Oh boy, what is this? ABC uh ABC plays the victim in FCC complaints. ABC and his parent company, Disney, are riding their high horses.

[00:06:46]ABC claims the Federal Communications Commission is disrupting its First Amendment rights, attempting to chill critical protected speech. The fuss centers around whether ABC's gabfest, The View, is a bonafide news program.

[00:06:57]Uh, cue the laugh track. It isn't. The FCC is saying they're enforcementing they're enforcing section 315 of the congressionally approved communications act, which requires o overthe-air broadcast stations to provide equal on-air opportunity for political candidates. If you give airtime to Smith, you must also give uh airtime to his opponent Jones. Uh wrinkle in the section, however, exempts bonafide news programs from the requirement, thus allowing the reporter discretion discretionary independence. The FCC tried to get ahead of what is sure to be a controversial public broadcasting season, issuing an advisory. Then ABC set off a tempest in a teapot when they hosted Democrat James Telerico before the Texas runoff. At that time, Telerico was running against other Democrats for the nomination. The FCC responded the appearance and saying that the view uh which is a bunch of comedians that they were effectively doing onair campaigning for Telerico. Did the same thing with Steven Cobear. Disney has filed a petition.

[00:08:02]This is the FCC director saying the FCC saying the agency declared that the view is exempt from statutory equal opportunity requirement that would otherwise apply to broadcast shows.

[00:08:11]Disney argues that the view qualifies as bonafide news under the law. Therefore, Disney argues that it can have one partisan candidate on the office and deny equal opportunity to others. The FCC is now seeking public comment at the Disney request labeled that it is bonafide news. Is the view bonafide news program?
