Vijay Faces First Test As TVK Picks JCD Prabhakar For Speaker Ahead Of Crucial Tamil Nadu Floor Test

[00:00:00]the Talapati era has begun and today is Vijay's first challenge, Chief Minister Vijay's first challenge. Uh that is the Tamil Nadu assembly speaker. So TVK has pushed for JCD [music] Prabhakar assembly speaker and Tamil Nadu assembly session starts at [music] 9:30 a.m.

[00:00:16]today. Today is the second day of the assembly. Yesterday all the MLAs had taken oath in the assembly. It was the first day. Today uh the the speaker will be chosen and the assembly session starts at [music] 9:30 a.m. TV MLA JCD Prabhakar will be the speaker. He [music] was formally with the AIADMK. He has submitted his nomination uh [music] form in the presence of chief minister Vijay. So that is going to be Vijay's first challenge. Today [music] is uh uh today the speaker will be chosen and tomorrow is when the floor test will be done and that is the [music] biggest challenge uh that which will be facing to prove the numbers that he has.

[00:00:54]Remember it took him 5 days [music] to bridge the gap of uh the six MLAs to uh make the number [music] stand at 118 the magic number 118 and now the uh TVK coalition has crossed that number but it now needs to be proven on the floor of the assembly and that will be done tomorrow today uh the speaker uh will be chosen and TVK has pushed for JCD Prabhakar [music] as the assembly speaker and uh uh he will be the speaker and the sessions starts at 9:30 a.m.

[00:01:50]What has happened is like JB Pra is a leader who has with AIDP just like you mentioned and he has he's also a very senior leader who has held a prominent position in the Tamil Nad government earlier as well. So he's one of the experienced persons who deserve such a kind of course and that seems that's the reason it seems wants to go ahead and contest this. It's very very important today very you know interesting things are going to happen because on the other side even though DMK has agreed not to create any constitutional size crisis AIMK is actually having a huge issue within them and we're also expecting some more clarity where what's going to happen with who's going to be the legislative lead so amidst all this JCD Paka seems to be one candidate upon whom all can agree and that's why it looks like K has gone ahead and decided to a contested nasty speaker for the Tamil assembly >> all right promote Thank you for those uh details and uh do stay with us. Even as the new government settles in, all eyes are on today's speaker election and Vijay's aggressive outreach to opposition leaders across the political spectrum.

[00:03:11]TVK leader JCD Prabhakar has filed nomination papers for the speaker's post in Chief Minister Vijay's presence and with no rival candidate in the frey. He is expected to be elected unopposed. At the same time, Vijay has launched a mega outreach exercise meeting DMK chief uh DMK chief MK Stalin, leader of opposition Udanidhi Stalin and MDMK chief Viko, PMK leader Anbuani Ramados and NTK chief Seaman signaling an attempt to build wider political consensus beyond the alliance lines.

[00:03:47]And now let us also uh tell you about JCD Prabhakar who is all set to become the Tamaladu assembly speaker. Now he's a TVK MLA from thousand lights constituency. He's a former AiaDMK leader. He began his political journey in AiaMK under MGR. In fact he joined TVK in just January 2026 months before the assembly elections and he first elect he was first elected as MLA in 1980. [music] He contested against Stalin in Kolur in 2016 and he's an advocate by profession and it is the experience that has been an X factor for him and that is why [music] TVK has chosen JCD Prabhaka for the speaker's post and let us also take a look at the numbers how do the numbers stand does Talapati Vijay has uh have the majority uh and let's take a look at the support that he has uh from the other parties so TV K's number stands at [music] 108. So the seats TVK has is 108. The Congress party has joined hands [music] with the TVK. Congress has five seats. CPI has two seats. CPIM has two seats. VCK has also extended support. It has two seats.

[00:05:01]In fact, uh after uh VCK, IUML also extended support to the TVK which also [music] has two seats. So the total number of seats that the TVK coalition has [music] is 121 which is above the magic figure of80.
