In a text message on Thursday, May 14, Tuano says that his earlier statement refers to the absence of any legal basis at present for holding or restraining former Senator "Bato" Dela Rosa. He says any action must be supported by proper legal processes and the continuation of the investigation. Tuano adds that his reference to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group is only hypothetical in nature. Tuano earlier told reporters that the CIDG would issue a new subpoena if there was official confirmation that Dela Rosa had left the Senate premises.
