BREAKING NEWS: 3 AIADMK MLAs from CV Shanmugham Camp Quit Party, Seek Entry into TVK | News18

[00:00:04]and rumblings in the AIDSMK camp in Tamil Nadu. Big piece of break news that's coming in. Three AIDS MLAs belonging to the rebel Shan Mugham faction have now quit the party to join the TVK. Malays met the speaker and submitted their resignation letter. So you can see the rumblings taking place amid the power equations in the state of Tamiladu. Remember this entire rebel faction had backed the TVK government during the uh during the confidence motion uh in the assembly in Tamil Nadu and now three of those MLAs from that faction led by CV Shan Mugam have now quit the AIDMK to join the TVK. So you can see how the AIDMK pretty much is imploding under the watch of EPS weather rebellion is now looking to join the TVK full-fledgedly. I'm joined by my colleague Punima Murli on the broadcast.

[00:00:53]So Puna, a huge jolt to the leadership of EPS. Uh currently it was a 50-50 kind of situation within the AIDMK camp. But now you can see the drift taking place to the TVK to show up the numbers as well as taste power for once uh in the last over 5 years.

[00:01:14]Well, three AIA DMK MLAs uh here at the secretariat met the speaker and submitted their resignation letters.

[00:01:22]After doing that, they met uh Tamil Nadu Minister Adav Arjun and they officially joined the TVK after resigning from their MLA position. They've now joined the TVK. All eyes on how uh the AIADMK now takes this forward because so far if you look at the number 47 uh is a number that the ADMK has 47 MLAs it has out of which there were two factions one was a faction led by Arai the other was a faction led by CV Shanmugum and the three ADMK MLAs who submitted their resignation letters they are from the CV Shanmugum camp it's a setback for the AIADMK because both factions still continue to exist uh While what we are given to understand is that the number on EPS side initially it was 22 who were post TV during the vote of confidence.

[00:02:12]Apart from that five more MLAs from CV Shanmugum camp have jumped ship to the ed party camp. So now they have at least 27 MLAs in their favor. We'll have to wait and see how really the AIADMK now tries to resolve the ongoing crisis.

[00:02:28]It's a setback for the ADMK. There are two factions. Will they try to uh unite and ensure that AIA admas don't quit because there are some of them who are still mulling these options from the CV Shangham camp not really happy with the ADMK we'll have to see what steps header party takes and how will he reunite the party which is now divided into two camps >> absolutely but Punima it it is an indictment of EPS's leadership at the end of the day given the fact that there was as per the elections the wave against the DMK K but the AIDMK wasn't able to capitalize on that and it's five more years of several AIDMK leaders being out of power. So that frustration clearly within the AIDMK camp given the fact that the TVK was able to you know register such a stunning victory getting over 100 MLAs. So this entire notion of staying out of power really rubbing a lot of the ADMK leaders the wrong way and that has become that indictment of EPS's leadership.

[00:03:28]Absolutely.

[00:03:31]After the demise of Jalita from the 2016, whether it was a Lok Sabha polls or whether the state assembly polls, AIADMK did not perform well. They performed poorly as far as these elections are concerned after the demise of Jay Lalita. So this time around as well the AIA DMK in fact some of them said that they initially wanted EDAP party to consider joining hands with the TVK to fight the election but we're told that Ederat Panami was confident that the ADMK will form government this time.

[00:04:00]So there were opportunities there but there was no discussion on this uh their opinions did not matter which is why they said that the change in leadership is the need of the hour because we need a good leader who can ensure that the AIA DMK now bounces back. So uh which is why we saw CV Shanogam SPI C Vijay Baskar these are the former ministers of the ADMK who in fact had a separate uh uh uh discussion consultation and they tried to get the number but nobody had the magic number two majority none of these factions got and ever since then uh there are efforts to ensure that they they patch up because right now TVK did not get the help of the ADMK did not give them cabinet birth so the f the faction headed by CV V Shanmugam is also now mulling patch up with Arapparati at a time when that is going on. Three AIA DMK MLAs from the CV Shanmugam camp uh they uh tendered their resignation letters to the speaker a short while ago and they've officially joined the TV case. So we'll now have to wait and see how really the ADMK leadership takes this forward.

[00:05:04]>> Right. Puna please stay with us because it seems as another another faction is forming within the AIDMK camp. It doesn't bode well for the unity of the party given the fact that several AIDSK leaders want to taste power after almost after over five years. And I'm joined by Asunan of the DMK. Sir, how do you see these developments which are coming in through a AIMK MLAs now going to the TVK camp they've submitted their resignation clearly huge pressure on EPS to keep the flock together.

[00:05:33]>> See this is not about the pressure on EPS. M >> this is about the dirty tricks department of the TVK spreading its tentacles across the state. See they formed the government by horse trading.

[00:05:48]>> Now they know they don't have the majority and they are ensuring that this MLAs resign join TV or if they just resign uh then some time it takes up for the elections. The TVK will not need not have to have 118 seats. So we'll have to see. I don't think this is going to stop at number three. This will go on. Lot more of the MLAs will resign. The only question is there has to be an investigation as to how they were led to do this.

[00:06:22]>> Why did they do this?

[00:06:24]>> Right?

[00:06:24]>> There has to be an investigation, >> right? But Mr. Saran, very quickly, how do you react to the to the kind of uh uh speculation that's coming in that it was your nod, Stalin's nod, which led to the smaller parties to at least prop up the TVK government in the state.

[00:06:39]>> See, the reason why our leader Mr. MK Stalin wanted to support the government, wanted to support our allies to support the government is that we did not want an election immediately.

[00:06:53]>> That was the primary concern. That is why that advice was given. They persuaded our allies at that time. But now they went ahead and joined the government. That is a different issue.

[00:07:03]But this is what happened at that time.

[00:07:04]But this three MLAs resigning reeks reeks of malified.

[00:07:10]>> Right. So it seems that the political kind of dynamics have completely changed even from the DMK camp towards the ruling dispensation clearly.
