Rewire Your Brain Into Your Ultimate Reinvention (It's Neuroplasticity)
Added:If there was one thing I could teach my younger self, it would be the power [music] of neuroplasticity, your brain's ability to physically rewire itself [music] based on what you think, feel, and do. People often associate change with willpower, trying to force yourself into being someone different through sheer effort, but all willpower does is exhaust you. What actually changes you is rewiring, and you can actually rewire your brain into your ultimate reinvention. Welcome back to the Becoming the Best Version of Yourself series. In today's episode, we will be talking about the power of neuroplasticity and breaking down this video into three sections. What neuroplasticity actually is, how your personality creates your personal reality, and reconditioning the body to a new mind. Let's get into it. Section one, what is neuroplasticity?
Neuroplasticity is your brain's ability to physically change itself in response to your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It's the reason you can learn new skills, [music] break old habits, and literally become a different person over time. For the longest time, science believed your brain was fixed after childhood. The prevailing wisdom was that once you reached adulthood, that was it. You were stuck with the brain you had, but that turned out to be completely wrong. Your brain is constantly changing. Every experience, every thought, every emotion is literally reshaping the physical structure of your brain. Think of it like walking through a field of tall grass. The first time you walk through, you leave a faint trail. Walk the same path again and again, and that trail becomes a clear path. Eventually, it becomes a road, then a highway, and finally, a superhighway. These superhighways are how habits form, how your personality forms, and how your identity solidifies over time. Every time you learn something new, you make a new connection in your brain. That's what learning actually is, forging new connections. And remembering is maintaining and sustaining those connections. The more you repeat a thought, a feeling, or an [music] action, the stronger that neural pathway becomes, and the stronger it becomes, the more automatic it becomes. That's how you go from consciously practicing something to it becoming second nature.
So, [music] when you feel stuck and feel like you can't change, that's because your brain has built those superhighways for your old identity and you simply haven't built the new ones yet. But, the good news is you can. Your [music] brain is plastic. It is moldable, changeable.
It's designed to rewire itself. Watch this footage of your brain actually rewiring. [music] This is real. This is what happens when you think new thoughts, feel new feelings, and practice new behaviors.
Your brain physically changes. And here's how. Application one, use [music] it or lose it. There's a principle in neuroscience that will change how you think about yourself. If you don't use a neural pathway, it weakens. [music] Every thought, every behavior, every skill has a specific set of connections in your brain. When you stop practicing something, the pathways for that [music] task start to weaken. They literally fade away. This is the most important thing to understand about change. You don't have to destroy your old patterns.
You just have to stop feeding them.
Every time you choose not to react the way you used to, you're letting that old pathway weaken. Every time you choose a new response, you're strengthening a new pathway. The old doesn't disappear overnight, but it does fade. And eventually, it becomes so weak that [music] it's no longer your default. So, when you feel yourself slipping into an old pattern, don't panic. It's just the old pathway firing. You don't have to fight it. You just have to stop feeding it. Choose differently and let the old path fade. Application two, repetition.
This is the most important part. To rewire your brain, you need thousands of repetitions, not hundreds, thousands.
The more time you spend practicing something, [music] the better you perform. Your brain responds to frequency, not intensity. Think about how you learned any skill. When you first started driving, you had to consciously think about every action.
Signal, mirror, check your blind spot.
But, after thousands of repetitions, it became automatic. You didn't have to think about it anymore. Your brain had built a superhighway for driving. The same applies to your personality. The old patterns became [music] automatic because you repeated them thousands of times. The new patterns will become automatic the same way, not because you do them perfectly once, because you do them consistently, day after day, until they become who you are. Application three, emotion matters, salience.
There's a concept called salience. It means the things that matter to you, that you care about, that you attach emotion to, those are the things your brain remembers. Your brain doesn't waste energy on things that don't matter. It prioritizes what feels important. Whatever you attach emotion to, your brain treats as important. Let yourself feel the joy of who you're becoming, because emotion is the glue that makes neuroplasticity stick.
Application four, transference. Here's something fascinating. When you train one specific skill, it can sometimes activate the pathways of nearby untrained skills >> [music] >> and improve those as well. Neuroscience calls this transference. What does this mean for you? It means when you work on one area of your life, other areas often improve, too. When you build confidence in one area, it shows up in other areas.
When you practice setting boundaries in one relationship, you get better at it everywhere. When you start showing up differently in your career, you start showing up differently in your personal life. You don't have to fix everything at once. Pick one thing, one thought pattern, one behavior, one new habit.
Work on that and [music] watch as other areas of your life start shifting, too, because your brain doesn't isolate change. It generalizes. What [music] you practice in one area spreads to others.
Now that you understand how neuroplasticity works, let me ask you something. If change is possible, why do you keep waking up as the same [music] person? That's because there's a deeper layer to this. Your personality creates your personal reality, and that's exactly what we're getting into next.
Section two, the invisible architecture of your life. The answer to my earlier question lives somewhere you cannot see.
It's in the invisible architecture of your life, the structures your mind has built over years without you even noticing. Your thoughts are not passive.
[music] They are creative. Every thought you think sends a signal, creates a chemical, and reinforces a pathway. And over time, those pathways become your personality. Your personality becomes your reality. Your thoughts literally create your life. Most people don't realize that their thoughts are the architects of their reality. They think thoughts are just fleeting [music] things that come and go, but each thought leaves a trace. Each thought shapes your brain, and your brain shapes your life. Every single day, you wake up and your brain runs a series of programs. Some of them are useful, like brushing your teeth or making coffee, but most of them are running your life without your permission. Your reactions to stress, [music] your patterns in relationships, your default moods, your automatic thoughts about yourself. These are all programs running in the background. When you think the same thoughts every day, you keep creating the same reality.
When you think new thoughts, you begin to create a new reality.
It's not complicated. It's just repetition. These programs didn't appear by accident. You installed them. Every time you reacted the same way, you reinforced the program. Every time you believed the same limiting thought, you strengthened it. Every time you felt the same emotion, you deepened [music] it.
And you've been programming yourself your entire life. The good news is that what you install, you can uninstall. But to do that, you [music] have to first recognize what's running. You have to become aware of the invisible architecture. Look at the recurring patterns in your life.
>> [music] >> The same arguments, the same fears, the same limitations showing up in different costumes. [music] These aren't coincidences. They're evidence of the programs you've been running. Your personality has been creating your reality all along. Most people spend their lives rearranging the furniture of their reality. They change [music] jobs, partners, cities, but they keep the same architecture, the same internal programs. And eventually, the new furniture starts looking exactly like the old furniture. This is why willpower doesn't work. You can't outrun a program you don't know exists. You can't overcome a pattern you haven't acknowledged. Your conscious mind might want change, but the programs running beneath it will always win because they've been running longer. They're stronger, they're more familiar, and if you want a different reality, you have to install a different personality. You have to think different thoughts cuz your thoughts are not just thoughts, they are the blueprint of your life. And even after changing your thoughts, your body is still holding the old emotional charge. Nothing will fully change. The programs live in your nervous system as [music] much as your mind. That's what we're getting into next. How to recondition your body so your new architecture becomes real, not just imagined. [music] Section three, reconditioning the body to a new mind. Here's the missing piece that most people never learn. Your body has a memory. It's not just your brain that holds patterns, your nervous [music] system, your muscles, your emotional responses have all been shaped by years of repetition. Think about someone who's been through something difficult. They can talk about it, understand it intellectually, and think it doesn't affect them anymore. [music] Their body still tenses up when they hear a certain song. Their chest still tightens when they smell a certain smell. Their shoulders still rise when they hear a certain tone of voice. The body keeps the score, and here's [music] the thing, your thoughts don't just stay in your head. Every thought you think creates a chemical response in your body. Every emotion you feel reinforces a physical state. Over time, your body becomes a physical record of your most dominant thoughts. It holds the history of what you've been thinking, feeling, and believing. That's why thinking new thoughts isn't enough. Your body has memorized the old ones. And until you teach your body a new way of being, your thoughts will keep creating the same reality. The same is true for positive change. You [music] can think new thoughts, understand new concepts, and visualize a new future. But if your body hasn't experienced [music] the new identity yet, it will keep pulling you back to the familiar. Your nervous system has memorized your old identity at a cellular level. To truly become someone new, you have to recondition your body to a new mind. You have to teach your nervous system what it feels like to be the new you, >> [music] >> and you have to do it through intentional practice. Here's what most people don't realize. When you allow your mind to think equal to everything you already know, when you [music] stay within the boundaries of your five sense reality, you will keep creating more of the same. You'll assume this is all there is for you, but you have a gift [music] that sets you apart, your creative imagination. Your five senses show you what already exists. They keep you anchored in the reality you've already created, but your imagination allows you to access something your senses cannot, that doesn't exist yet.
This is how you break the cycle. When you use your imagination to think above your environment, you're not escaping reality, you're rewriting the blueprint.
Cuz the only way to create a new reality is to first create it in your mind. Your thoughts are the architects, your body is the builder, and your imagination is the design. You can use it to build a mental image of the life you want to live, and when you hold that image in your mind while believing it's possible and taking consistent action toward it, despite what your current circumstances look like, that invisible image will eventually become your physical reality.
When you think above your environment, you literally rewire your brain. By feeling the emotions of your goal as if it's already happened, by living in your mental image before it becomes real, and by doing this with repetition, you create new neural pathways. Your brain begins to look as if the event has already occurred. Your wiring starts to match the identity of the person who does the things you need to do to have the things you want. You become someone new, and when you become someone new, you create new results. This is the loop. Thoughts create feelings, feelings create chemical responses, chemical responses condition your body, your conditioned body reinforces your thoughts, and together they create your reality. To break the loop, you have to interrupt it. You have to think new thoughts, feel new feelings, and teach your body a new way of being. That's when your reality shifts, because your reality is just a reflection of what you've been thinking. Change the thought, change the feeling, change the body, [music] change the reality, and here's how. Application one, Hebb's law applied. You've heard the phrase neurons that fire together, wire together. This is Hebbs law. It means the more you think a thought [music] and feel a feeling at the same time, the stronger that connection becomes. Your brain is literally linking your thoughts and emotions together into a single network.
This is why you can't just think your way out of a pattern. You have to link the new thought with a new feeling and you have to do it repeatedly over and over until your body starts to associate the new thought with the new feeling.
That's when rewiring becomes real. The problem is most people have been pairing the same thoughts with the same feelings for years. That's why their identity feels so fixed, but you can start pairing new thoughts with new feelings today. And with enough repetition, those new pairings will become your default.
Application two, use your creative imagination beyond the five senses. Your five senses keep you anchored to your current reality. They show you what already exists. They reinforce what you already know, but your creative imagination allows you to access something your senses cannot. A future that doesn't exist yet.
>> [music] >> Here's how to use it. Close your eyes and create a mental image of who you want to become. Not just what she looks like, but how she feels. What does her confidence feel like in her body? What does her peace feel like in her chest?
What does her freedom feel like in her breath? Now, here's the key. You have to feel the emotions of that future self as if it's already happening. Your brain doesn't know the difference between an experience you vividly imagine and one that's actually real. When you feel the feeling of your goal accomplished, your brain releases the [music] same chemicals, activates the same neural regions, and begins to rewire itself [music] to match that state. This is why living in your mental image before it becomes your physical reality is so powerful. You're not just hoping for change, you're literally giving your nervous system a preview of the future.
And when you do this repeatedly, your brain starts to believe it's [music] already happened. Your wiring shifts, your identity shifts, and your reality follows. The key >> [music] >> is repetition. You can't do this once and expect change. You have to do it daily. You have to feel the feeling, hold the image, and live in that state despite your current circumstances.
Because when you think above your environment, when you feel the emotions of your future before it arrives, you're not escaping reality. You're rewriting it. So, here's what I want you to take away from this. You already know who you're becoming. You've felt her. You've imagined her. She's been waiting for you to catch up.
The only thing standing between you and her is repetition, not perfection or motivation. Just showing up day after day and choosing to think above your environment, feel the feeling before it happens, and let your body catch up to what your mind already knows. Your brain is ready. Your body is waiting. The only question is, are you? If this resonated, drop a comment below. I'd love to know what's the one thing you're going to start practicing today. [music] And if you want to go deeper into rewiring your identity, make sure you're subscribed.
I've got more coming on how to actually build the best version of yourself. By 2027, you [music] will have mastered everything we're talking about here.
That is it for today. Stay tuned for the next episode. Think her into existence, rewire your brain, become your ultimate reinvention. And thank you so much for your love and support. I'm truly grateful. If there's anything you'd like me to dive deeper into, [music] let me know in the comments below.
