City of Anderson reminding visitors not to feed wildlife at Carter's Lake

[00:00:00]This morning, gosling season is back at Cater's Lake, but city leaders want you to think twice before tossing that piece of bread. So, while those baby geese are hard to resist, the city of Anderson has a clear message: Do not feed them.

[00:00:14]Feeding waterfowl may feel harmless, but it's not. Bread and similar foods cause serious health problems for these geese and ducks. Leftover food pollutes the water, attracts pests, and damages the lake's ecosystem. That's why feeding ducks and geese at the lake is not permitted, and the city says that the best way to show you care is by admiring them from a distance and letting them thrive on their own.
