If you want to get better pursuits, better OKN's, you have to get better posture and better motor control of your whole body. A really good layout for how pursuits work. So, initially with pursuits, the fovea, the sensory aspect, you've got retinal image motion. The retina sees something and then your eyes lock in on it and that's when the pursuit starts cuz in your fovea is really highly involved. And then the visual information impacts the thalamus.
So, the part of the thalamus that manages visual information is the lateral geniculate nucleus. The LGN of the thalamus will do what it always does. It's going to send sensory information to parts of the brain that can integrate it because the thalamus is a hub. Very much like the vestibular nuclei is a hub. That was well put. And then you get to target onto V1. V1, which is the primary motor visual cortex. So, then you're actually going to see what your eyes are looking at.
And then once your brain is starting to see, if you want to pursue, you're going to have to connect with eye muscles to do a pursuit.
And then when you pursue, at some point, somehow, you're going to get frontal lobe to kick in and say, "Okay, okay, I'm going to move the eyes on that target." You're going to have to reach the pons, the pontine nuclei, which is where you have to cranial nerves for the eye movements.
The cerebellum will always get involved in terms of the precision. Somehow, somewhere, you'll get down to the motor neurons of your eyes and you'll get a smooth pursuit.
