Silver Award Medals - Swimming - Looking at Designs from the Early 1900s

[00:00:08]Thanks for making the Coin Geek what it is today. You guys have made uh you guys get the Oscar for the best looking, smartest group of YouTube fans of all time.

[00:00:22]Across the galaxy. And so today I want to talk to you specifically about getting awards. So, these awards that I have here are silver awards from Austria. And awards are fantastic. So, we see a lot of these things come in, especially from um Austria and into other parts of Europe that are usually going to be shooting tallers or just awards for marksmanship. But here you see this is from the Wiener Schwimm Club und uh Damen Staffel 1907 Austria 1894 dated. You got a bunch of here with the um swim club on it for Austria. And one of the things I like about these is just, you know, imagining a little bit of a history, but then just seeing the overall variety and understanding kind of like private metals and mints.

[00:01:12]Whenever I look at a private metal or mint and I look at it and I say, "That looks so much better than a coin." I always kind of get like I don't know, jealous of the way that they were made.

[00:01:26]I just think, you know, why why aren't coins made to look more attractive. So, check out this one here.

[00:01:32]You've got someone up here with the wreath for the victor.

[00:01:41]And then you've got the swimmers coming through.

[00:01:48]Amateur swim club 1887.

[00:01:53]This is probably when the club was founded. As you can see this is dated 1910.

[00:01:59]Uh 68 m. I mean this is a foreign language. Imagine you have to translate the language from Schwimm and the 68 m. I mean it's it's like an unknown quantity in America figuring that number out.

[00:02:16]And here you go. This is looks like it could have been the same winner here.

[00:02:21]But like it check this guy out here. How how cool is that?

[00:02:29]And uh I mean none shall pass.

[00:02:34]That that is that is easily one of the coolest looking medals. And you know most of this type of stuff you can just find you can find this at like yard sales and stuff for half the price of silver.

[00:02:44]When people are are you know getting rid of the states. That this is easily one of the coolest looking things I've seen on a piece of metal ever.

[00:03:13]I don't know how to say 1911.

[00:03:15]But look at this one. This one is like stunning.

[00:03:18]This is going to be my first tattoo.

[00:03:26]I I love the fact that the the fish looks almost angry on this thing.

[00:03:31]Look at the way the metal just reflects everything.

[00:03:45]Look at that. And then it's got I wonder if it does that is that I wonder if that's his time.
