Photo radars to become more common on Quebec roads, starting with 66 new mobile ones

[00:00:00]There are currently 30 fixed photo radars in the province and 22 mobile ones to which 66 more mobile devices will be added. The first ones will be delivered by the end of summer and the goal is to install them in road work zones and school zones. The ministry says it's also working to add more fixed photo radars. The transport ministry's goal is to eventually have 250 photo radars across the province, but there are no specific timeline to achieve this goal.

[00:00:42]>> In 2025, the province's photo radars generated a record-breaking $133 million in fines. Non-profit CAA-Quebec believes they should be complementary to police officers' work and that the province should make sure they are effective.

[00:01:06]Montreal's mayor has already expressed enthusiasm, just like her predecessor Valerie Plante, who wanted 300 photo radars in the city.
