Storms bring tornado, heavy rain—now South Florida braces for heat wave

[00:00:00]There was a huge tornadoes out there.

[00:00:02]Take a look, much better news for us over here. We got the big you can see it back there. There it goes. Got that big rainbow that arced in today after those storms ran through and they were some significant storms. Now, the good news is we've got nothing on the radar right now at all. Going to stay that way until the afternoon tomorrow and then we're going to have some more storms moving on through. Goodbye rainbow and hello heat.

[00:00:25]That's what we're going to be dealing with for the next few days. This is that system that moved through causing all of those severe thunderstorm warnings today around 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 today and it dropped a ton of rain. Look at this. As we zoom into northern parts of Broward County right up here by Tamarac, that area got almost 3 to 4 inches of rain in just a few hours but all the way over through Fort Lauderdale, you still got over an inch coming down in Miami-Dade.

[00:00:47]We got a ton of it in the interior parts of Miami-Dade then also down in Homestead as well. So, it was a lot of rain in a very short period of time that came from these storms. Now, the good news is the rain's pretty much done.

[00:00:58]We're going to have some afternoon showers tomorrow 3:00, 4:00 but they're going to be nothing like what we dealt with today and then it's just going to dry out until next Sunday. That's the next big rain day for us. Temperatures outside right now still in the upper 70s for Fort Lauderdale and Miami-Dade down at 76. 81 the hot spot. Wow. At 11:20 at night, we're still in the upper the lower 80s there in Key West. Now, for the next few hours going to cool down but not too much. Still going to be in the low 70s by the time you wake up.

[00:01:26]Going to be clear though. No no more storms tonight. I promise you that. All right, temperatures tomorrow you're going to be in 87 is our hot spot.

[00:01:33]Warmer tomorrow than it was today. Miami 85 and Fort Lauderdale, Keys are going to be in the low 80s tomorrow. The high temperatures for the rest of the week are going to be above our normal all week long and look, we're at a 90 on Saturday there. Be prepared. It's going to get warm. Beautiful out there Sunny Isles 76 degrees right now. If you're going to the beach tomorrow skipping work, I'm just saying low rip current risk there.

[00:01:57]UV index could be really high. Boating's great tomorrow as well. No problems in either the Atlantic or the Keys. You're good to go out there boating or out there on your jet ski. All right, tomorrow's weather we start out really good in the morning. We have that rain in the afternoon and then it clears back out. 7-day forecast, the rain tomorrow and then just sun all week long until we get to that rain on Sunday, Chelsea but it's going to be nice and warm and hot the rest of this week, Chelsea.
