In democratic parliamentary systems, members of parliament must maintain appropriate respect and decorum when addressing institutional officers like the Speaker, even when disagreeing with their decisions; making personal attacks or inappropriate comparisons (such as comparing the Speaker to a controlling spouse) undermines the dignity of the institution and the office holder, and such behavior should be condemned and corrected to preserve the integrity of democratic governance.

Burchell Disgraceful Behavior the Holness MarriageAdded:
I'm going to not begin with the story that led the newscast. I'm going to begin with the story that I heard first at 7:00 a.m. this morning right here on our nationwide 90m. And it's a story involving the South St. James, member of parliament, Nikishha Burchil, who I have some time for because I think Nikisha Burchil has the trappings to be a a good MP.
But the South St. James member of Parliament has put her foot in her mouth.
She says the House Speaker Juliet Holes has been exhibiting exhibiting control tendencies similar to women who are able to control their husbands.
So she has left the nation's parliament with her commentary and she's gone into the home of the speaker of the house of representatives and that of the prime minister of course you know her husband is the prime minister of the country Andrew Holmes.
I'm going to play the clip for you.
>> But Burchel says Mrs. Holes should not take her love for control to the parliament in her role as house speaker. Listen to what Nikisha Burch said in her own words. I just think this the speaker is she likes to be in control >> and I mean that kind of control that perhaps you can get away with in a marriage if you want to control your husband for example you can't control >> grown people sent to parliament to represent their people there is disorder and disrespect but then there's also control because you know it's not a school mistress not a school mom with children in in in in in a basic school.
We were all elected and sent there.
>> Can you believe that? Listeners, viewers, can you believe those words are coming from the mouth of a member of parliament directed towards the speaker of the House of Representatives.
I'm going to play it for you one more time so you don't need to adjust your sets. These are words actually coming from a member of parliament about the sitting speaker of the house.
>> Play it again for me studio.
>> I just think this the speaker is she likes to be in control >> and I mean that kind of control that perhaps you can get away with in a marriage if you want to control your husband for example. You can't control >> grown people sent to parliament to represent their people. There is disorder and disrespect. But then there's also control because you know it's not a school mistress and not a school mom with children in in in in a basic school. We were all elected and sent there >> grown people sent to parliament to represent. Do you know what is unfortunate listeners and viewers that if the speaker were a man and it's unfortunate that this is a woman who is saying this if the speaker were a man Nikisha Burchil would not say those things about the speaker that is also partly what is entirely unfortunate about this sorted episode >> but Nikisha Burchel unfortunately >> has to be diagnosed with foot and mouth disease because she has put her put >> in her mouth.
>> How do you speak about the speaker of the house of representatives like that?
>> The next name is Taj Morgan.
>> This is how we begin if we do not nip this thing in the bud to reduce institutions and offices.
And you know these mistakes I find Nora and listeners and viewers are very often made on some of these platforms that are meant to be populist where they they want to try to speak to the masses as it were a certain demographic grouping >> and so they go on to these programs and they say anything at all that comes to their mouths.
How did Nikisha Burchel get into the speaker's marriage?
This is disrespectful.
It is shameful.
It is classless and it is vulgar.
And Nikisha Burchel would do well to withdraw and apologize.
She would do well to withdraw and apologize. Absolutely no reason exists why Nikisha Burch should have made those comments about the speaker of the house.
And why? Because the speaker of the house is enforcing the parliamentary rules for the most part.
Julia Holless recently enforced parliament standing orders and cut short Birch's attempt to begin her sectoral debate presentation in PWA. Burchil criticized Holis during an episode of the podcast called the fix which was published this week. She denied calling the house speaker a yam head. Um, I was asking for planting materials >> for my farmers, you know, and I was listing them, but she said I wasn't asking a question.
>> Mhm.
>> So, I was pointing out to her that yam head when I said it was actually a question. There was a question mark after the yam head. Yam head.
>> Okay.
>> She's with that with every member of the opposition.
member >> the voice there of Nikisha Burch, South St. James, having quite the laugh. But I have to have a bit of unsolicited advice for Nikisha Burch. And let me look squarely into the camera while I give her this advice.
Nikisha Burchil, come up to the gutter.
That is my word of advice to you because you've gone below the gutter with this one.
Way below the gutter you've gone. So my advice to you is come up to the gutter and do not allow what could be a decent political career to be derailed by this kind of indecency. It is on becoming of you Nikisha Burch.
We must not even if we are not pleased with the office holders. There's a certain respect that we must accord to the office at all times and this falls below that bar Nikisha Burchil and and I do hope that the Nikishha Burchil will withdraw and apologize with dispatch.
This is Cliffuse online break. Let's take the break now and come back with more for that massive pay rise that you're now footing. This is this is the quality of member of parliament that we get.
They told us, you know, uh Nora and Nora can correct me if I'm wrong cuz she she's usually way more accurate than I am. They told us that a part of the reason why you need to increase the pay is because we need to attract better people.
And this is this is what we're getting.
Huh? You're listening to that, you would not think that this is a member of parliament. Uh, uh, someone who ought to be referred to as honorable.
>> How did she get into the marriage of the speaker of the House of Representatives?
What what could have possessed Nikisha Burch for her to believe that these are appropriate remarks for a sitting member of parliament to be making about the sitting speaker of the house of representatives. They've taken this campaign to malign the speaker of the house in a bit to have the speaker resign or be removed down to the gutter and the and the people's national party that Miss Burchel represent should be ashamed.
This is unbecoming of the people's national party and their representatives.
You can't be treating with the speaker of the house of representatives in that manner. It is disrespectful and it shouldn't be tolerated and and I'm and I'm listening out to hear if the civic society groupings are going to come out and stridently uh condemn these remarks by Nikisha Burch. I'm listening.
I I didn't get a chance to comment on Nikisha Burchill's attempt to use the Jamaican dialect in the House of Representatives. I have absolutely no issue with Nikisha Burchil attempting to do that. And you've heard me say on this program before that I have no issue with dissent. Yes, that's the beauty of a democracy. There is room for disscent.
This is not a totalitarian state. In a democracy, there be room for dissent.
People must be allowed to disagree and to protest vigorously their descent.
So, so I don't have an issue with rules being challenged either, especially if you think those rules are manifestally unjust.
>> So, I don't have an issue with Nikisha Burchil attempting to utilize uh Jamaican PWA in the parliament. The problem arises with Nikisha Burch's attempting attempt to frame the issue thereafter. So, she attempts to speak in Pwa. She knows very well what the standing order says. The standing orders doesn't allow it presently. That's a separate debate and we take that and we table it.
>> She knows the standing order doesn't allow it. The speaker is duty bound to stop her. And now she leaves after the speaker carries out her functions appropriately and is trying to frame the speaker in a manner as if the speaker is doing something wrong. when the speaker is actually carrying out her duty by stopping her in accordance with the standing order. That is what I have a problem with. Nikisha Burch's attempt to frame the speaker in a manner that oh look what she's doing. She's nonprogressive.
She had two choices. She had choices she could have allowed me. No, not according to the standing orders.
And I'm certain Nikisha B Nikisha Burchel knows this. So I don't have an issue with her attempting to use the pot. I have an issue with how she attempts to frame the narrative thereafter disingenuously I might add because she knows very well what the standing order >> according to the standing.
>> I'm going to close my remarks uh this morning uh by staying in the parliament.
I shared my views uh with you yesterday on the parliament's decision
