Was Jesus Made God at Nicaea?

[00:00:00]One of the myths about Jesus was that he just became God at Nicaea. We're going to look at it on how we know Jesus was God. And it wasn't just because of a Council of Nicaea. The Council of Nicaea was in 325 AD and it was brought together because there was a person named Arius who was bringing together some some questionable claims about Jesus. And long story short, when he presented these views that Jesus was created, he was immediately uh denounced and the Council actually put together a creed immediately after to reaffirm the beliefs that they've had. And so that creed goes, "We believe in one God the Father Almighty, maker of all things, visible and invisible.

[00:00:45]And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten from the Father, only begotten that is from the substance of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten.

[00:01:01]This is a key part here for Arius, not made. Jesus is not made. Of one substance with the Father, through whom all things come into being, things in heaven, things on earth, who because of us humans and because of our salvation came down and became incarnate, becoming human, suffered, and rose again on the third day, ascended to the heavens, and will come to judge the living and the dead, and in the Holy Spirit.
