Resource-rich nations often face systemic governance challenges where abundant natural resources do not automatically translate into improved living standards for citizens, as mismanagement, corruption, and lack of accountability can prevent wealth from reaching the general population despite the country's economic potential.

🟢🟡🔴 Why Can't We Focus And Hold This Government AccountableAdded:
Utah Bell, Ignite News. The International Energy Agency is suggesting that the world's energy supply might enter a red zone by uh August. What efforts are being put in place to ensure Guyana's energy security in the short term? And you would have mentioned long-term, which is the uh oil refinery, but what is being put in place for 2026?
Also, when do you plan to officially meet with the leader of the opposition?
I don't um understand the second part of the question. Uh the first part of the question very relevant to our world. Uh and I'll deal with the relevant question.
>> Why can't we focus and hammer home a point and hold the government accountable? Why is it that you are protesting chicken over there? Next one is protesting beef over there. Where where where is the unity? Isn't it all a problem? Isn't it all about the people of this country or not? Are we really Let me ask you guys a question. Does Ghana really have some stupid people? I didn't say it, but I heard the question being asked. I don't want to believe so.
Ghana have some of the most brilliant minds.
But why is it a country today with all the natural resources we have, you guys are sitting back and allowing us to be taken advantage, taken for a ride.
Our young single mothers, our young girls, our young brothers are out there.
Brilliant minds going to school coming out with massive degrees. My daughter, 22 years old, just just graduated as a nurse, live lives by herself, pays a $300,000 rent equivalent to gy dollar and a $300,000 car note by herself without the help of her father, any man.
Why can't that happen here? Per capita, the money that we're work, when we look at the natural resource that we have in this country, we're probably one of the richest country in the world. Why are we still building roads that look like dark Why are we still building drains that you wouldn't even want your dog to walk next to? Why? Why is the corruption so rampant rampant in this country? Why do we why do we have to stand the side of the road on in 100 degree weather and protest for a bus driver to get far a dollar more per person and the person that is traveling in the mini bus can't pay and the driver can't afford it? Why?
We are now one of the fastest growing economy in the world. What a really change in your life. 12,000 of you ran like fools to to the conference center.
Instead of standing outside and protest, you ran on the inside and and you're proud that 12 of you 12,000 of you might get a contract because you only qualify.
And that contract might be might be up to 15 million because it didn't say all would be 15 million. But how many people live in Guyana?
900,000.
How many people live in Guyana? So we have a $1.3 trillion budget, but we're bragging that 12,000 people is going to get the small man going to get a contract and the rest of it going to go to the rich and friends. 12,000 of you got a contract. 12,000.
Guess for how much? 15 million or less.
What happened to the rest of the people in this country? Aren't they qualified?
Are you are we going to give 12 more thousand next year? Guess how many people voted for for the for the government? They can tell you. So, forget the ones that didn't vote. Only 12,000 people. Only 12,000 from a $1.3 trillion budget. And we know they're going to be supplementary supplementaries.
Oh. Oh. When are you guys going to wake up people?
What the hell is going on in this country? Why are we protesting for trucking? Why are we protesting for minibus and we're not protesting that the box site is leaving this country and we're still charging the same money we were charging 15 20 years ago when we were a poor country? Why why is it that we not we are still giving away all these the these natural resource? Why aren't we protesting that so our salaries can be better? So our grandchildren can live a better life.
Why aren't we protesting that? Why aren't we blocking the Demar River to make sure no more boxite leaves this country unless we get our fair share?
Why aren't we blocking the the the the airport? No more gold leave this country unless we get our fair share. Why aren't we what that that's what we need to protest?
Why aren't we protesting the failure under Mr. Minister Edgil, every part of the country there's contract being wasted. A billion dollar here, a billion dollar here, 1.5 and it's left unfinished.
How many contracts have we seen for over a billion dollars that is left undone or has to be redone?
One $13 billion on the hero highway. We have to recap it. Who's paying for that?
How do you take home a better salary?
How do you take care of your children?
How do you take care of your family? and you're sitting there and you're okay with it.
Does Ghana really have some stupid people or not?
You know, the definition of insan the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result.
The reason Azadin Muhammad is the leader of the opposition today is because GY are sick and tired of the politics that we've been rotating. The same set of politicians, they jump from one side to the next and tell you stories. When you look at the the lineup you saw the other night, I could tell you why they they crossed a you know why. You can see half of them need a proper pair of shoes to wear.
They're not accustomed to nothing. So almost something makes them excited.
They wanted power to benefit themselves, not the people. You know why? I'm going to call on Nigel Hughes. Where are you?
You wanted to be the presidential candidate. So, because you didn't make the presidential candidate, you've just decided you don't have a voice anymore.
Amanda, you're bragging today. Oh, I was able to reopen Parliament. But you are disgrace to the people. You know why? I sat next to you. Francis sat next to you. We made you. We put you in that seat. And you are calling on the government now to to to oh let me let let me demand of them to hold parl but we're demanding of you to share the seat with Francis the way you were supposed to but this is not about you where's the opposition leader you sat publicly said I'm going to work with all the opposition to be able to hold the government accountable where are you still you're fighting to the left the for opposition all over the place no consistency Why can't we focus and hammer home a point and hold the government accountable? Why is it that you are protesting chicken over there, the next one is protecting beef over there? Where where where is the unity? Isn't it all a problem? Isn't it all about the people of this country or not? Are we really are we fighting for oursel or we fighting for the people? Because we're fighting for the people, then everything that's a problem should matter across the board.
If cost of living is a problem, it is not Azadine Muhammad the opposition leader. It's the opposition problem. So because Azadine touch it, BPAC shouldn't. Because BPAC touch it, where is what what what are we doing as a people?
How is it that we are sitting there saying we want better but the better basically we are not prepared to be better greed power that's what everybody wants camera up take a picture with me do you see me there I was standing there no when someone elects a leader a president you are there to manage not your wealth the people's will there to do the people's work.
Guidance need to start understanding the power of their vote.
>> I'm here in Rose Hall, region 6. Rose Hall, region 6. I'm under quarantine and I'm looking at a project here, a sidewalk project that has gone very bad.
A sidewalk project here, no doubt to the tune of millions of dollars. That has gone very, very bad. Come, let me show you some what I'm talking about. Come now with me.
Now, this is the sidewalk project.
No doubt this has attracted millions of dollars.
It's a long sidewalk and this could easily be 60, 70, $80 million.
And the whole sidewalk where we are has collapsed.
And even though they've cined off this section here that has collapsed, there is nothing that suggests that other portions might not.
As you could see, this should have been a benefit to the residents who are in this area, but they're now still walking on the road and potentially in the path of traffic.
And the whole entire sidewalk here, no doubt to the tune of millions upon millions of dollars.
And again, we re reiterate this is what happens when you give contracts to friends, family, and favorites.
Well, uh this is part of what we're seeing here in Rose Hall.
Um and we're going to leave it here.
We're going to leave it here. The entire the entire structure here has sunk.
All right, folks. We'll just leave it here for now and we're going to catch you guys on our next broadcast. Thanks for joining us.
>> Hi everyone. Good morning. My name is Shantel and today I am back with a video for you. A long awaited video. So I am in Guyana and a few months ago we uh we came to Facebook and Tik Tok and all the social and we asked for assistance to support our my cousin Delroy Moses. So this is the famous Delroy Moses that you guys all know and I've supported and I've helped him to get back to this stage in which he's at. So before I get far into this video, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We want to say thank you. The entire family wants to show our gratitude to everyone that contributed that have shared the GoFundMe that have um reached out that have prayed your prayer meant everything to us your your kind words your even to the ones that is still reaching out. So, a little backstory about Delroy. Um, Delroy was diagnosed with a ruptured brain aneurysm in January and we needed a urgent surgery for him to save his life. Um, a brain aneurysm is basically bleeding in the brain and it can cause a lot of dysfunction. You catch like different kind of seizures and stuff like that. I don't know much about it, but um just to give you a brief and we had to raise $9 million to conduct the surgery right here in Guyana. So, we were able to open a GoFundMe and you guys contributed. You guys poured out and because of that, Delroy is able to sit here. So, let me stop talking and let me ask Delroy a few questions. Hi, Delroy.
>> How are you?
>> Fine.
>> How are you today? How you feel today?
>> Fine.
>> Have you been doing everything normal?
>> Yeah. you remembering things and stuff?
>> Do you want to say do you want to say anything to the camera, to the video, to the people that contributed to help you to get your surgery done successful?
What do you want to say?
Thank you.
>> Bye.
Roy, you think you you think you're remembering everything now?
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. And you think you're walking and doing everything normal?
>> Yeah.
>> Do you feel any pain or anything?
>> No.
>> So, you think you're ready for school and all of that when you go?
>> September.
>> You're going to school September. You excited?
>> Yeah.
>> You are. Guys, Dei Desi is very I mean, I don't know if he's camera shy, but I came here a few days and Desi was very in I well, he's in good spirit. He's in high spirit. He's been talking a lot.
Um, communicating with everybody, you know, and he's very it's like he's backed himself like he didn't had a brain surgery. And that is something that I am so h I'm overwhelmed with joy.
So, I want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you guys so much for the outpouring of love and even after care. You guys have still been reaching out to find out about his um well-being and how he's been um coming along with after care and like uh therapy and stuff like that. He is still in therapy. I think he goes to therapy once a week. Um and the the therapy is doing wonders. Um he's improving a lot.
So we want to say thank you. This video is a video to say thank you.
>> Thank you.
>> I say bye.
>> Well, I've just witnessed the breaking of the Richmond Hill Coker.
Look what's going on here.
Water sucking down from the Atlantic Ocean into the residential area. Look at this here.
Dark, dark water. Muddy, muddy water.
Look what's happening here now. Oh my gosh.
To all my viewers across the world, look what's going on in Legu one.
Wow. Look at the height of the water the back there from the far corner.
Look, once the water hit there, he can't go further and he hit on this one said he can't go further. But everything pushing down into the into the into the back back area or we call it the back the farming area.
Look at this.
>> Unbelievable.
>> The water the cocoa just break.
Just just break. Look at the suction here. Look at the water pulling from the Atlantic Ocean.
>> Yes.
>> Running down like crazy. You see what happen?
Watch what going on here.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Look what's going on here.
>> Huh?
>> More water.
>> That from that from bottom there.
Definitely the bottom. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
So my advice to the city in of Leguan to get a cocoa repair or not to repair to fix immediately. You need a brand new cocoa down here like ASAP because I'm sorry for these guys over here residential area.
Look at what's going on here.
Wow.
This is crazy. This is crazy.
They got to get a cocaor fixed immediately.
What else? Trouble. Trouble. Trouble >> troubleing rich 4:00 >> 4:00 >> plus another hour another hour more yeah >> or more >> yeah two more yeah see the kind of water is still high over here >> look look what's going to happen here now you see the water going to rise now and you only got about 8 in more before you hit over this coer over this side part and it's going to go all the way over into the residential This is bad. This is bad.
>> This is bad.
>> Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
>> Yeah.
>> So now the water start come over from from the cocoa side into the residential.
Now >> everything going to come inside here now.
We got to get a Skooka fixed, boy. We got to get to the city right now.
>> You know how much tons of water come out here one time, boy? In a second.
Look what's going on here.
Got some nice kicking butchery coming up here.
Look at all the water racing along into the back back dam area.
This is bad here, Rafie. This is bad.
This is crazy.
It's going to flood out everybody.
And we got about three or four hours more of this pressure happening here.
4 hours more water going to run for Yeah, the cocador just gone. Gavin about 10 minutes ago.
We only hear suddenly something go and pressure.
Good look for the both side residential is that this cocoa working like fairly good or water is still running there like crazy too. On the other side the same thing.
Still water running here
