This video presents a critical analysis of how media narratives and political rhetoric can contribute to public distrust in institutions, using the example of public skepticism about recent political events to illustrate how repeated negative framing and conspiracy theories can erode trust in democratic processes and create polarization.

Fox News Highlights - May 12th, 2026Added:
Fox News alert. Wheels up. Air Force One's on the way to Beijing. The commander-in-chief preparing for a high stakes meeting with Xi Jinping. China's already rolling out the red carpet because the president's bringing the dream team. Rubio, Heg Seth, and Scotty B. Rubio's been banned and sanctioned by the Chinese for six years, and they just lifted it. He's clear. And the president's bringing the best and brightest. 16 CEOs including from Apple, Boeing, Goldman, and Visa, all flying west. Even Elon's making the trip.
Should be just like the good old times.
Pota says we make a lot of money with China and is using the trip as a big business opportunity, but the two will have a lot to talk about. AI, Taiwan, and obviously Iran.
>> We're going to have a long talk about it. Uh I think he's been relatively good to be honest with you. You look at the blockade, no problem. They get a lot of their oil from that area. We've had no problem. And he's been a friend of mine.
He's been somebody that we get along with and I continue to see that good things are going to happen. This is going to be a very exciting trip. A lot of good things are going to happen.
>> Beijing's economy is showing some cracks. And without their top two oil proxies, Iran and Venezuela, the Chinese are getting a little desperate. And they may even offer us a little help with the gay ayatollah. But President Trump says, "I don't bother."
>> No, I don't think we need any help with Iran. We'll win it one way or the other.
We'll win.
>> We'll win it peacefully or otherwise.
>> The generals prefer otherwise. They're saying the Iranians just drove past a major off-ramp. We could be on the road to more war. NBC reporting that the president already has a name if he restarts bombing again. Operation Sledgehammer. Time's running out for peace.
>> It's very simple. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. They will not have a nuclear weapon. They know that. They've agreed to that. And then that's not what they said to me when it came to we don't play games. They're not going to have a nuclear weapon.
>> The president called Iran's latest proposal unacceptable. And now the ceasefire is on life support. 47 might have to break the negotiation stalemate.
According to regional sources that I talked to this morning, the domestic pressure on the regime is increasing each and every day. And they view this broadly as something called death by a thousand cuts. They believe that President Trump has a variety of options on the table moving forward that could damage the Iranian regime further on a military level that would make it even more difficult for those in Thrron to rebuild after the war.
>> Reports say the president's considering a resumption of major combat operations.
The Pentagon says they are locked and loaded.
>> We have a plan to escalate if necessary.
We have a plan to uh retrograde if necessary. We have a plan to shift assets. Certainly in this setting, we wouldn't reveal what the next step may be considering the gravity of of the mission that the president is undertaking to ensure that Iran never has a nuclear bomb.
>> On the menu, a special ops mission to snatch Iran's uranium. In the last 48 hours, both Trump and the Israelis have toyed around with the idea. How do you envision the highlyenriched uranium will be removed from Iran?
>> You go in and you take it out >> with what? Special forces from Israel, special forces of the United States.
>> Well, I'm not going to talk about military means, but the pres what President Trump has said to me, I want to go in there.
>> The Pentagon just revealed the location of a top secret submarine capable of launching nuclear missiles. The Ohio class subs docked in Jibralar and its Trident 2 ballistic missiles can hit targets over 4500 miles away. The Pentagon never discloses the locations of their nuclear subs and they just did hours after the Iranians sent us that crummy proposal. On the ground, the military's training robo buggies with mounted machine guns. It's nextgen stuff. They were just seen in Morocco, similar terrain to Iran. And we're also going to start arming Apache helicopters with their own drones. Look at that.
Also in the skies, our B1 bombers are conducting training missions. And here are the Super Hornets and Growlers launching from the USS Lincoln. General Keane says we might have to pull the trigger. We know the regime is likely going to survive even if we return to combat operations, but we would want it to be so weakened that it's vulnerable to collapse. I think we've given negotiations truly a test of time to see if it would work and it's not going to work and and my judgment is the best thing to do is go back and finish what we started. The UA is jumping in too.
Reports say they've been carrying out secret strikes on Iran. They hit an oil refinery last month and Reuters is reporting that the Saudis got off the sidelines in retaliation to Iranian aggression. The kingdom launched missiles inside the mainland. You know it's bad when the Jews and Arabs are on the same page. The Iranians still talking a big game though. The parliament speaker says this. Our armed forces are ready to deliver a welldeserved response. Mistaken decisions will always lead to mistaken results. The Iranians still haven't even broken through our wall of steel. The embargo's already turned around 65 ships. An economic fury is squeezing the IRGC's oil pipeline to the Chinese.
Bessent just slapped on more sanctions.
Raisen Kaine says the Iranians are feeling it.
>> They are absolutely feeling that pressure not just from the blockade as the secretary talked about, but the continuation of sanctions that Treasury and others have put on there. Uh and we retain a range of military options.
>> The Democrats though, they say we're losing. You've achieved a series of tactical successes but are on the verge of a strategic loss because we are now negotiating. I >> just think it's so foolish. Here we are in a committee in the United States Senate 74 days in and you're talking about strategic loss. We have the ability to defeat a 47year threat of a pursuit of a nuclear weapon. We have more leverage than we've ever had. We've had incredible battlefield successes.
And you're talking about a strategic loss.
Democrats like the Iranians are begging for a stalemate and the media, well, they just can't keep up.
>> Mr. President, you promised to bring inflation down. It's now at its highest level in three years. Are your policies not working? What's happening?
>> Our policies are working incredibly. If you go back to just before the war, for the last three months, inflation was at 1.7%.
Now, we had a choice. Let these lunatics have a nuclear weapon. If you want to do that, then you're a stupid person and you happen to be. I mean, I know you very well.
>> The markets are stomaching all of this.
The Dow is up today. Wages are up even after that hot inflation report because Iran closed the straight. But the price of crude still down from two weeks ago.
And the president says this all ends soon. And it only ends in one way.
>> We're either going to make a deal or they're going to be decimated. So one way or the other, we win. The president's heading into China in high spirits. Next 48 hours will be huge. The United States is prepared for anything.
We've been wargaming with all our Pacific allies all spring and just announced Space Force alongside America's space allies. Just completed a joint plan for conducting orbital warfare by the end of the year. And we're selling Taiwan $25 billion in weapons in case the Chinese get frisky.
We're going to turn that little island into a little porcupine. Whatever happens, we're dressed for success.
Rubio slipped into a Nike sweatsuit on Air Force One. It's the same outfit that Maduro rocked when we nabbed him.
Thank you. Thank you. It's day six of a great haircut.
Good evening everyone. So, a Texas man accused of swallowing diamonds he stole from Tiffany's has decided to represent himself in court, but said he should be able to afford a lawyer once the prunes kick in.
The Democrat mayor of an LA suburb admitted to being a Chinese agent. And already Eric Swallwell is trying to roofier.
Disgraced former CNN host Don Lemon is teasing a 2028 presidential run.
>> I know. And if he joins forces with Pete Buddhaj, it'll be the first time both candidates insist on being the bottom of the ticket.
I don't get it. I don't I don't get I don't get it.
New York City aims to shut down a hot Asian lady brothel after an undercover officer was offered manual stimulation.
In fact, one officer heroically returned 20 times to verify the evidence.
Here we go.
RFK Jr. claims teenage boys in the 1970s had twice as much sperm as today's teens. This after careful study of socks.
Come on.
So proud of that. 18 Honda virus cruise passengers are being quarantined. And while experts say there's no real risk of an outbreak, there are still urging one woman to wear a mask cuz she's ugly.
Tiger Woods appeared earlier today in a Florida courtroom. He wasn't scheduled to appear. He just lost control of his SUV and crashed into the courthouse.
>> Oh my god.
>> Sad story. President Trump is traveling to China with Elon Musk, Tim Cook, and 15 billionaire CEOs. I haven't seen that many billionaires on a plane since I flew to an island with my buddy Jeff.
You know, guy gets a bad rap. Kidding.
Very awful human being. And finally, Iran is assuring the media that Iran's missing Supreme Leader is still fully in charge and commanding the armed forces.
This, according to their new spokesperson, Karine Jean Pierre.
That was funny.
So, a new survey says that over a third of Democrats believe the White House correspondents dinner shooting was staged. Yeah. Over a third, or as AOC would call it, 80%.
The same survey found that 42% of Dems think the Butler assassination attempt was also staged and 26% think the same thing about the attempt at the Florida golf course. So, the same people claiming Trump needs to be impeached because he's scenile also claims he managed to stage at least three attempts on his life.
If you think he's that great an actor, you've never seen Home Alone 2.
Then again, these people spent four years insisting Joe was as sharp as attack while he wandered the White House looking for the bathroom, which for Joe was any room with a corner.
Good thing it's an Oval Office.
Otherwise, I'll take it.
Otherwise, the place would be soaked in nature's miracle.
But forget faking his own death. Biden spent four years faking he was alive.
But these numbers tell you something important. Americans no longer trust anything. And it was the left and their fellow travelers in the media who created that mindset. Why wouldn't people distrust our institutions?
Especially after they were lied to about a demented president, his criminal son, the border, crime, and a global pandemic. The same people who told us to trust the experts also told us Trump was a Russian asset and COVID came from anywhere but a Chinese lab. And now the media pretends to hate conspiracy thinking. Right? No, they don't. Not at all. This idea that Trump's near assassinations are staged. It works for them. It makes Trump the villain and not the victim. And if a person believes the attacks are staged, they're more likely to vote for a Democrat. But hey, maybe it was staged. In the broader sense, the stage was set. It's like what home sellers do before an open house. They stage it so you feel good about the place. Shampoo the carpets, open the blinds and curtains, move the grandfather clock in front of the secret door that leads to the soundproof sex dungeon.
Likewise, the media and dems set the stage for people to hate Trump enough that maybe someone might close the deal.
For nearly a decade, Trump's been called Hitler a fascist, a dictator, a threat to democracy. Satan with a combo over to hide his devil horns. The threat itself was staged. Democracy dies if this man wins. He'll imprison journalists.
America is over. Political rhetoric became a mission briefing. If you tell emotionally unstable people over and over that someone is an existential threat to humanity, eventually one of them decides they're going to be the hero in this movie. But you can't turn the political temperature up to insane levels every single day that pretend it wasn't on you when it blows up. And they're still staging it by not honestly reporting how bad this left-wing lunacy has gotten. So the assassination attempt may not have been explicitly staged, but the environment for it was and is. Don't forget, these are the same people who hired a TV producer to stage a show trial after the so-called insurrection.
They've dressed up more lies than my series of unfortunate dates in Thailand.
The media spent years demolishing trust for short-term political gain. And now the left keeps shooting conservatives and blaming the victims. They want their side to win so badly, even if it takes someone's life. They destroy truth in the service to their politics because they know that their politics can't handle the truth.
Welcome tonight's guest.
>> He was in the Air Force, but it's his suits that are really flying. Also, I'm making money on Fox Business, Charles Paige.
>> His comedy act is single-handedly causing a spike in tomato sales.
Comedian Joe Mackey.
In high school, she was voted too attractive to be on CNN. New York Post columnist Lydium went ahead.
And his act is harder to get through than the straight of Hormuz. Actor, writer, comedian Jamie Lissau.
>> Charles, always a pleasure to have you on the show. You light up my day.
>> Thank you.
>> Yes. Well, you're supposed to say you do the same. Great.
>> Oh, you do the same. Especially with the haircut.
>> Oh, thank You like it, don't you? It's a It's kind of like yours in a way. Salt and peppery.
>> Distinguished.
>> Yes. Glasses and Well, I'm not wearing glasses. Shut up, Greg. Do you What do you What do you think of these polls? Do you get anything out of them?
>> Uh, you know, I I loved the the the monologue. You I did pause for a second because it took me like seven times to find the right house because I couldn't find a sex dungeon room. But now I know why. But anyway, I digress. Um, if you look at this so-called manifesto from this from the the uh what were we supposed to say? Alleged alleged assassin.
>> It read like the mainstream media like he just it read like as if >> we were listening to CNN >> that the whole it was just a CNN monologue and so to your point >> they've messed up the Democrats so badly. Think about this. Democratic women aren't h they're the their fertility rate is zero. They're not having any kids. They won't get married.
They're depressed. You look at the confidence numbers. They this has backfired on this group of people. It has really it is >> well they have a lot of mental ill illnesses.
>> The mental anguish is off the charts.
They have actually backfired. This whole campaign of hate against President Trump has backfired and it's killing it's actually killing people who fall for it.
It's destroying half this country. That is a great point that it's like all of this energy just bounces off him and you see these high rates of psychological disorders. They're not having kids. They think the world basically Trump is the new climate change. That's what it is.
That's what it is. Joe.
Joe, you're a skeptical guy. You question everything. You question authority. You obviously didn't question your stylist.
Um I kid. He doesn't have a stylist. He barely owns his own clothes. Tell me about your thoughts on this. Do you think that this could be staged?
>> Hardy Harrag, I I am a rebel, a bit of a conspiracy theorist, if you will. I think that uh the deep state is real, that CO was made in a lab, that when women say that they want a guy with a great sense of humor, they're full of crap. But look, I understand why people don't believe the a narrative. I mean, the media lies all the time and a lot of things have been hoaxes like like Charlotte's fail or Jesse Smlet or the Gretchen Whitner kidnapping, but usually there's evidence for it. That's why I would always go back to AAM's razor. The simplest explanation is usually the right one.
Now, there's a whole bunch of people calling Trump Hitler. There's a whole bunch of crazy people that want him dead. and the Secret Service hasn't proven to be all that competent.
>> Do you believe that that's what happened? Or do you believe that Trump thought, "Oh, being shot at twice wasn't enough, so I'm going to try for a third time term to believe that. I' I'd have to be a Democrat."
>> Now, tell me more about Mr. Aam.
>> I >> He loves to shave.
>> Yes, he does. He does. You know, Lydia, don't you think that these conspiracy theories are helpful to Democrats?
Because they do that. The more you look at Trump as a target and a victim, the more it helps him. So, they love these conspiracies.
>> Yeah. Trump doesn't like being a victim, though, which is pretty interesting. So, I was there that night.
>> And I'm beginning to think I've been getting all these messages that I was a paid actor.
>> Yes.
>> Nothing.
>> Yeah. If if there's going to be a conspiracy theory, please loop me in next time because I think I deserve a livable wage from this. No, the Democratic Party is in a in dire straits because what about a third of people think this was a conspiracy? Probably a third at least are just bummed that the gunman missed, which is kind of alarming. Mhm.
>> The idea though that Trump would purposely be in on an opportunity that would limit his ability to give a speech that night where the only thing he had to do was literally to eviscerate the mainstream media and go after them. This was like his dream setup. He would he would not do anything to DO IT ANYWAY.
HIS HE WAS LIKE BOY. YEAH.
>> I'M GOING BACK. I GOT TO TELL THESE JOKES.
>> YEAH. NO, it's true. This is like he was he was probably the most pissed off person there.
Jamie, you wish you had more staging in your life. It's been chaotic, uh, depressing, >> miserable.
>> That's true. I went to a play last night. The whole thing seemed staged.
>> Um, don't you think, knowing Trump, that if there was a script, >> if this was staged, would it would it have been this boring?
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Wouldn't Trump have caught the bullet in his teeth in front of an American flag?
Like >> anybody that screamed this is staged before looking at evidence, I think you have to look at, are you letting your feelings about Trump override the evidence? And the way to look at that is to go, what if it had been Obama?
>> Would it changed how you thought? I feel like a lot of the voices we hear would have gone, no, this is a serious credible threat.
>> But all you did was change the target.
You didn't change any of the evidence.
So, it's not skepticism. Yeah. It's political tribalism or or TDS. A wise man once told me he said he said, "No amount of evidence can persuade an idiot."
>> And uh I remember my dad said that to me when I told him um I told him I thought I'd eventually sleep with a girl.
>> You got You know what? That was called premature laughter.
>> It was.
>> You're used to that, aren't you?
>> Yeah. You know, um, that was a good joke and I didn't even mean to make it.
>> The last point is you got to point out the same people that are saying this is staged, it completely ignored the SPLC story, which was basically staging hate crime hoax is funny. It was funny to me.
All right, audience, maybe you don't care.
