In multi-party electoral systems, campaign success depends on multiple interconnected factors including candidate visibility, ground-level community engagement, infrastructure development, and the ability to address voter concerns effectively. The 2026 Bahamas general election demonstrates how political parties compete through rallies, candidate debates, and constituency visits, with voters evaluating candidates based on their track record, campaign presence, and proposed solutions to local issues.

Coming up tonight with 13 days until the vote to determine the next administration to lead the Bahamas. The PLP and the F&M are again taking their messages to the Family Islands. We're live at both locations. Also tonight, it's temperature check. Tonight, three constituencies, including a panel from Grand Bahama, on which candidate in West Grand Bahama has the edge. It's all straight ahead tonight. This is Beyond the Headlines. Good evening. I'm Chenique Miller. It's great to have you along this evening. Well, tonight the governing progressive Liberal Party is taking its choose progress rally to North Andros. The party is making its case to voters there who have consistently showed loyalty to the PLP.
Tonight's rally comes on the heels of a rally in central Andros last night.
Rebecca Bane is in North Andros. I am being told right now that we will go to her as soon as she is up and ready.
Meanwhile though, the opposition free national movement is rallying in Long Island tonight. It's a constituency long considered one of the party's strongholds. Lorencia Smith is at an F&M rally in Long Island right now. Good evening to you, Lorencia.
>> Yes, that's right, Chenique. We are here live in Long Island for the Free National Movement Rally. And right now, I am competing. As you can hear, the base is starting to rally up as the rally is set to kick off in a few minutes. Now, I can tell you a number of the bases already here. We're waving their pom poms and out in their paraphernalia. We know the free national movement has been campaigning on we're working for you and not a few. That has been their mantra and what they've been campaigning on. Now, tonight along with the party leader and deputy leader, the supporters here in Long Island can anticipate to hear from North Abico candidate Terresa Terresa Buddha Lang along with the former standard bearer for the party Mr. Larry Cadre and Mr. Andre Rollins who will be contesting the seat for the party come May 12th. Along with them, we're going to hear from residents, residents of the community, among them, Mr. Jude Nolles and Mr. Ian Nolles. That's who we can anticipate to hear from tonight alongside the base.
Now, we know that the free national movement is ensuring that they get their message out. They've been campaigning on a few stuff, Chenique. As we know, the national lottery, the plan for the health care system, also with our plans for what they can do for mothers. And so, we anticipate to hear that and hopefully we can hear an idea what they anticipate to do for the island. As we know, Long Island is A&M country. Some may argue that this election cycle, it may be a sink to watch as a number of works have been doing getting done here on the ground. Now, Long Island is shaping up to be a four-way race along with Mr. Rollins. We anticipate Miss Dos for the PL, Miss Pratt for the Coalition of Independent and Miss Turquest as an independent. So, after so Long Island is a seat award. So, live here in Long Island. Back to you in studio Shenik.
>> Live in Long Island right now where that rally you heard is getting underway on in Long Island. uh a a longtime F&M stronghold. Uh we are waiting to go to North Andros where Rebecca Bane is covering the progressive liberal parties rally. But in until I get the cue for that, I want to bring in Peggy Candace who is right here next to me and and we could just sort of discuss for a moment.
You heard Lorencia obviously highlighted that Long Island. Peggy, good evening to you by the way. Good evening. Good to have you. Of course, Peggy's here for temperature check, but I'll tell you this on live TV, you have to always improvise and get things moving. And so, Peggy, let's just jump right in. Uh, the Free National Movement is campaigning and lobbying, uh, rallying in in Long Island this evening, a seat where they have felt quite secure for quite some time. You heard, uh, Lorencia talk about the fact that um the Andre Rollins is seeking to be elected there. Uh but but but it might be it might turn out to be quite interesting, Peggy, for the simple fact uh that that a lot's been happening in Long Island, that it's a four-way race and and that Andre Rollins obviously has his work cut out ahead of him.
>> Yes. Good evening, Chenique. Thank you for having me. Good evening, B. Mr. Chenik, I agree with you entirely. Um there's so many factors that will affect um the result and the outcome. And so nobody I think at this point in Long Island could be comfortable in saying, "Well, I got this." Um, as you said, the current administration have been giving Long Island great attention and and taking care of some of their demands and needs that were neglected over the years when it come to road works. I think the water situation and also the the airport situation in Long Island. And so I believe it it was strategic for this administration to give that attention to Long Island because I think they want to break that spell. Let's say, oh, Long Island is a safe seat for the free national movement. And of course, again, the four-way race will always create a a very interesting dynamic um because the four-way split of uh the votes. So, like I said, these things will make it a nobody can say, "Oh, uh, we're in the lead. It's too close, and I will always say it's too close to call it this time."
>> Yes, absolutely. You heard, of course, talk about the number of speakers that are going to be there. The F&M has as a as a theme for its 2026 campaign. We work for you, not a few. We will talk about that in a minute, but I just want to pass on a breaking news story that's coming from the police at this very moment. Uh the police are investigating a shooting in the area of Mount Pleasant Park. A man was shot and has succumbed to his injuries on the scene there.
Again, this is a breaking news story from the police. Uh a shooting in Mount Pleasant Park at this hour. Uh an adult male was shot and killed there. Uh so Peggy, uh the we work for you and not a few. We we have we have and we've heard the PLP obviously hammer home um choose progress. Uh your thoughts on on how these parties are are sort of creating the the narrative and the momentum around their themes. Well, you know, interesting enough, Chenique, this afternoon I had a conversation with F&M supporter was a friend of mine. And one of the things I was saying that the mo um logo or or the team of the F&M campaign, especially their rallies have have changed over the course of this campaign period, they started out with we work for you and then they added we work for you and not the chosen few. And then late last week I saw fire forward last night rally was SOS and so the C uh I don't know if it's skitso or they're just evolving based on what they the um wins they meet on the campa campaign trails they the addressing they just different situations in their team but it it has not been as steadfast as the progressive liberal party choose progress which they have been building on creating um their support, presenting their support for why um Bohemians when they go to poll as early as tomorrow um they should choose for a second term with the progressive Liberal Party because the the number of projects that were completed this term, the number of projects that are in um process at this time and the many process um projects that they have and their uh plans for this country in the future. Now listen, of course we have Rebecca Bane. Again, Rebecca Bane is in North Andros. She is uh here covering that rally. This is the Progressive Liberal Party's rally that's happening in North Andros after a rally in Central Andros last evening. Rebecca, good evening to you. Give us an idea of what's uh taking place where you are.
>> Well, good evening, Chenique. All the way from North Andrew, the Progressive Liberal Party is kicking off their second rally on the island this evening.
And I can tell you the atmosphere out here this evening is just vibrant. If you were to take a look behind me, you can see that it's a lot of supporters who have come out here this evening to support the party. They're dressed up in the party familiar waving their flags.
You can hear the music is going. They're not only here to throw that support behind the party, but they are also here to throw that support for the incumbent for the constituency, Leo Naro Lightburn, who is once again running for the seat in the 2026 general election.
And Miss Lighturn will be facing off the free national movement candidate Janice Oliver and the coalition of independent candidate and dear Lang. So, I spoke to a few of the residents early and they say they are looking for him to come back once again and they they shared a few things of what he's been doing in the con constituency over the past 5 years and they've seen improved dock, improved roadways, improved water um water water and sewage down here in North Andress and just today um there was a groundbreaking for the new dormitories and classrooms for Bambi.
So, there's a lot of things going down in North Andrew and a lot of these constituents, like I mentioned, are leaning towards Mr. Lighturn. And in the last election, he received 1,181 votes from the constituents, the constituents of um the residents in the constituency, sorry. And it was a lot of those votes. And what we can say is in the last election, this constituency was combined with the Berry Island. So, we are not sure if we may see those folks once again, but it's just something we love to see on May 12th, but I'll keep you updated via our social media platforms this evening on how tonight goes. They are expecting once again, I said, to hear from the incumbent of the constituency. Um, but for right now, I'm Rebecca being live in North Denique.
>> Rebecca, thank you very much. Uh Peggy, I I I'll ask just a question before we go to West Grand Bahama this evening for our Grand Bahama panel because this is temperature check and I want to give them their time. Uh but Rebecca talked about Leonardo, the incumbent there uh and the PLP's candidate uh who was heading that rally uh this evening, Leonardo Lightn your thoughts on on how he shows up at tonight's rally to speak with his supporters. Well, what I've observed from the entire island and and I'll speak to uh Mr. Lightburn, they have a very highly charged campaign. Um the the residents of the constituency are very excited about both s um Andrew's candidates. Mr. Liburn is a strong has a strong presence. He's been working in North Andrews, but most importantly, he has built and developed strong relations with his constituency and they have developed a a serious relationship of trust um last night just to to throw this in there. Mr. Leon Lundy had a very strong showing at his rally and um the prime minister was there, the deputy prime minister's there, minister of um energy was there, miss minister of sports were there and I mean and minister of works and and apparently they all work together to develop different areas in Andress um to support Leon Lundy to support Mr. Li and so they're having a very strong strong um showing in this campaign and I think the two L's will win this coming upcoming election. Well, we are going to shift to temperature check you all. It all comes down just 13 days until Bohemians and look at that they're sending me to a break. I could see that I am going to have to I I will probably even not even get to the three constituencies. Listen, don't go anywhere because when we come back, the Grand Bahama panel, that's right, they join me here on Temperature Check. You want to hear from them about the temperature in Grand Bahama, specifically West Grand Bahama. Beyond the headlines, temperature check back after the break.

Well, the political heat is rising, the stakes are tightening, and the nation is watching every move, in particular in West Grand Bahama. This evening, I'm going to welcome the Grand Bahama panel, Leland Lang, John Watkins, and Kurt Neely. And this evening, temperature check in Grand Bahama focuses in on West Grand Bahama. Do we have the guys uh uh team in the back?
Uh so there are the candidates, but I do we have the panel. That's what I want to know. Um but so the >> Good evening.
>> Good evening. Good evening, gentlemen.
Uh good. Let me just call out Let me just uh point out Excellent. The three of you are here. Fantastic. Hello, gentlemen. It's good to have you all here. So, let me give you all an idea of the candidates in uh West Grand Bahama.
the incumbent, the PLP's candidate Kingsley Smith, the Free National Movements candidate Omar Issacs, the Coalition of Independence candidates, Tony Stubs Albry, and so gentlemen, good evening once again. It's wonderful seeing each of you. Let's jump right in and let's get started. Now, let's begin with the Coalition of Independence candidate Tony Stubs Albry. How is she showing up in West Grand Bahama? What are the voters saying about her and what kind of impression is she making?
>> Zero. No impression. No one have nothing to say about them.
>> Let's move to the FM and PLP.
>> Well, before before we get there, um before I answer that, I'd like to say it saddens me that behemoths will sit on your platform shenik and belittle and show no respect to the coalition of independence candidates. um behemoths that put themselves forward to sacrifice their time, their resources to bring forward change to a system that they know is broken. Nevertheless, Tony stops here to hear because your candidate is we are having meaningful leadership. I'm sure that you in this country is not going to work.
>> Kurt, let me hear. Kurt, let's hear what Kurt, let's hear what Let's hear what um >> John Let's hear let's hear what John is saying.
>> Nevertheless, stops Albury has been present in a community. Now, I don't expect I don't expect those persons to understand that because we're not relevant to them, but we are relevant to the residents of of West Grand Bahama and in her community, she's very active.
As as people, we are so accustomed to the old ways of politics. And when silly season comes around, it seems that we forget what people went through for 53 years. And I don't even have to go back as far as John. John.
No, no, no. Kurt. Kurt. Kurt. Sh. Kurt.
Now, if you a host, I can fly you in ahead and ask so you could sit beside me and be my co-host. Kurt, let me ask this question of John and then trust me, we can get all three of the candidates. You ain't got to ever worry about that. And you all will have your all say as well on the COI's candidate as he will on the other two. John, I want to ask you, what is Tony Stubs Albry doing in in uh West Grand Bahama this election season?
>> Well, the message is empowerment. She's letting the people know that it is time for something new. We cannot keep juggling the same system. The people are resonating with the message, the message of empowerment coming from a new party that has established itself. And I believe that message is being resonated uh um by the people. So don't be surprised if persons that you see in them blue and red shirts vote for something else.
>> Okay. Uh uh uh Leland, what do you know about Tony Stubs Alry? How is she making an impact? How is she resonating in West Grand Bahama?
>> Good evening Bahamas and good evening Chenique. Um I've spent the last few days trying to gather information in Wesson. Um I wasn't successful in finding her social media platform, but I do know that she's been putting up um some of the flyers and trying to get her message out. Um but I think she needs to step her game up in that area and so that's that's mostly all that I got on her.
>> Uh Kurt, you've already given you've already given your thoughts on the candidate, right?
Well, well, let me say this and and and and realistically and truthfully, um yes, she she has put herself up for the wax grandma seat and um at some level at some level um we must appreciate the fact that she's willing to come out there. So, I will give that to the COI member. But at the same time, listen man, um behemians are looking for real solutions.
Uh and not always this talk about pie in the sky, which is a COI thing.
>> Second thing, hold on. The second thing is we're talking about her and West Grand Bahama and her impact uh and what have we seen so far and all they said being honest was nothing and and realistically there has been nothing um that we've seen yes some flyers they walk around but um the real conversation in West Grand Bahama it's always going to be a F&M and >> okay then let's move on let's move forward Then I uh let's move forward then. The free national movements candidate, gentlemen, Omar Issacs. There is Omar Issacs to the far right of your screen. Omar Isac's I think contested uh before in the bi-election uh recently.
>> No, he didn't. He didn't. There's Omar Issacs. And so, gentlemen, I want to know since he is absolutely brand new to frontline politics, let us then talk about Omar Issacs. How is he showing up in West Grand Bahama? What is the response like to Omar Issacs? What kind of ideas is he expressing to be able to move West Grand Bahama forward?
>> Well, I guess I'll start. Um, Omar is someone who has family lineage in the community and from my data and talking to persons on the ground, they're really impressed with the vision that he's putting forward for the community. And so he of course going into what would be typically called a PP stronghold has a lot of work to do. Um, but but he's been on the ground for months now and he's been getting his message out. He has a big following with the young folks that I've noticed and persons who who I spoke with feel like it's you know it's a breath of fresh air um with Omar who not a stranger to the community who came up under Obi um who've had a business in the area who's a businessman in the area and so he he has again uh work cut out in terms of being in a in a stronghold or typically a stronghold um but he's he's been making grounds and I've got mostly positive response persons in Weston including PLPS is >> John your thoughts or or you Kurt uh jump in about Omar Isaac's how is he showing up >> well well I know Isaac he's a good person and personal on his character um I had many opportunities to speak with him um I don't know what this young man is talking about I'm hearing that he is not as active on the ground that he should but I believe that he is with the wrong party very intelligent guy but I think his maturity level is not there I'm still trying to figure out If he trying to be a rapper or a politician.
>> Hold on now. John, hold on. John, hold on. John John Leen, they were both quiet when you were talking. Len John, I want to John, I want to ask you, would John, do not be mischievous. What do you mean? You don't know if he wants to be a rapper. What do you mean by that? And how is he showing up in your opinion in West Grand Bahama?
>> Yes, I I'm trying to get to that point now. reason being is is is what I'm saying is every time he has a speech or anything why I said that I don't know if he's trying to be a rapper or a politician he he he tends to reference some type of rap music but I get he's trying to instinct with the young people but in my opinion I don't see him leading West Mama to victory um I listen to him speak about um investments and partner with investors um and for opportunities for West Grand Mahama but um we can invest in ourselves Why do we need to bring investors in to to to empower the people of West Grand Bahama when we have our natural resources right there? West Grand Bahama is all the potential it needs to be great and I don't think the F&M or my Omar Isaac is the party to bring that forward.
>> Uh Kurt, jump in please. Uh what can you tell us about Omar Isaac and his plan and vision to move West Bahama forward?
>> Listen, see Omar Isaac seems to be a pretty nice guy. I don't know him personally. I think me and him may have had one or two occasions to, you know, wave at each other, but my eyes has been, and correct me if I'm wrong, I think he's been ratified eight or nine months now. And in those eight or nine months, he's had no traction in West Gra Bama. He's um he's just a name, you know. I I think the F&M put him out there just to feel his way through and try to to give him some experience. they know he can't win.
Um, and in terms of ideas and and and um things that he may have um put put out, nothing impressive. I I'm I honestly I'm trying to be careful with my words because at the end of the day, I don't want to create any enemies. Um, but my eyes it's um a good fellow but not ready for politics. like the the good gentleman said, it seems to be a bit immature. Searching for relevancy, rapping on stages and that sort of stuff. It's not what we we call real politics. Um in in my mind, I think you know a next a next five 10 years maybe, but now this time this a PLC. It will continue to be a PLC.
>> Well, gentlemen, I'll tell you this, gentlemen. I really appre and I want you all because I I want to keep the same panel if I can for all of Grand Bahama and maybe even get your views on other things. And so I want you all to be as open and as honest and you're not attacking someone personally, but just give the rest of the nation including West Grand Bahama and Grand Bahama an idea of what's happening in every constituency that we discuss. And so you all have spoken about the free national movement's candidate uh Omar Isaac. Well then, gentlemen, let's move to the incumbent, the progressive Liberal Party's candidate, Kingsley Smith. How is he showing up? What he was uh elected in the by election. We know that. And uh he's now been serving since that time.
What is it that Kingsley Smith has brought and promises to bring to the table? Well, to the constituency. How what is he saying about moving West Grand Bahama forward?
>> Well, well, let me let me jump on that, Chenique. Um, I don't have much to say about Kingsley. I believe Kingsley should have been fired 6 months after he he took office. Um, I don't see anything that Kingsley did for West Grand Mahama.
I know that he made a lot of promises to those persons down there what he did not fulfill. West Grand Bahama is is is saying that they are tired of him. They want to move on. Um, uh, I'm even surprised that the PLP kept him nominated, but he should have been flushed long time ago. Um um and West Grand Bahama, I don't see him carrying West Grand Bahama at all and entering back into parliament. I don't see it at all.
>> Okay, gentlemen.
Gentlemen, gentlemen, >> I can jump in. I can jump in. I can jump in. Kingsley has an uphill battle uh especially coming in on the B election where I think over almost half a billion dollars in promises that were made. And so residents who I spoke with, even some >> Oh, he you you you say he made a half a promises uh to the tune of half a billion dollars.
>> Not not a million.
You can have your turn, Kurt. Kurt.
Kurt, you can have your turn. Kurt, um John, John, John, if I hear you again, um go ahead. Go ahead, Leland.
>> Again, I want to remind viewers and listeners, these are not my words. These are what I've heard from the community.
I've spent time calling persons and so he has an uphill battle with some of with a lot of the promises that they've made. Not even a million dollars worth of promise was completed since uh the bi-election and a lot of PLPS and uh West End are tired. They're tired of the back and forth. They're tired of of of the politics and they want the red tape uh to be removed. And their their issue with Kingsley, the thing that I see that's commonly coming up is his attitude and the people around him. And so he has he has a lot to try and and and overcome before the next few weeks for this election because there's not not much to tout in terms of his progress from persons who I've spoken with in the community.
>> John, how John, how do you respond to that? And and I want you to you heard that Kingsley has made half a billion dollars of promises and and and you can't touch, see, or feel uh much of that. Uh how how is he showing up? What is his vision? What is he saying headed into 2026?
>> Like I said, John, if I hear your mouth one more time, >> I can I apologize. John Kurt, you go ahead. Go ahead, Kurt.
>> Thank you very much. I I I leaning Come on, man. A half a billion dollar blow in the province is not rich. I mean, I hear you. Um, listen, Kings Smith came in on the back end of of of of the first half of of um this term. uh in in all respect to him, he's a he's a rookie that's just now finding his footing and the the first year Yeah. Yeah.
>> Is that going to be enough though? Um um um Kurt, >> hold on. Hold on.
>> Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. John John, if you open John, if you open your mouth, John, John, >> as he's now coming into his own and finding his footing, you'll see that his entire you'll see that his entire setup um and the way he approaches names has changed a lot. And I believe that Kings is now coming into his own and the PLB will win this election and Kingsy will turn out to be but but but Kurt Kurt I'm asking how will Kingsley how will Kingsley do that you know something I fly all you here to Nassau and you all going to come sit here right here and you all going to host this show. What I got y'all y'all are awesome. I like the three I like all three of y'all. Kurt, Kurt, what I'm asking is you are saying you I ask you about what the PL will do.
I ask you about what it is um um Kingsley Smith will do. Kurt >> Kingsley that he's trying to introduced into Grand Bahama. Some things that we've been I mean into West Grand. Some things we've been um anticipating and waiting for a long time. the dredging of the harbor, the defense force be the police station.
>> Well, listen, gentlemen, gentlemen, I gentlemen, gentlemen, I promise you I'm you you all might be right back on the show tomorrow evening. So, I'm I'm very happy to to welcome each of you, but I want to ask one important question right now. Please give me a minute, please, guys. Where's G where's West Grand Bahama leaning right now tonight?
Quickly jump in.
>> Um, it's empowering West Grand Mama.
progress is going to go with Tony Stubs all >> safe with brave something fresh and something new and Omar presents that >> uh listen the three listen I can't the three of them got they going to stick to their point this could be a situation I could see it I love it though the grand mama bunnel always little they just on their own run always on their own run a run but hey good um uh John I tell you if you stick around for the next uh for Bamboo town. That'll be great. Let's hear what you have to say about that.
But thank you all so much. Uh Grand Bahama panel, I will see you all uh tomorrow evening.
>> I remember West End is safe with brave problem.
>> Beyond the headlines is back.

The candidates are the progressive liberal parties, Patricia Dvau, the Free National Movements, Dr. Dane Sans, the Coalition of Independence, Maria Daxon. Those are the candidates.
Of course, if I go according to what you are seeing on the screen, Maria Daxon, the Coalition of Independents, in the center, the incumbent, the PLB's candidate, Patricia Dvau, and to the right of your screen, the Free National Movement's candidate, Dr. Dane Sans. And so, we're going to get started this evening. Welcome back. Uh, of course, it's good to have you, Peggy. Uh, you all let me know if let me know, please, if John Watkins is still there because he he will also join in. But uh it's good to have you all here. Welcome back.
Uh Peggy, it's good to see you. Of course, Gabrielle, good evening to you.
It's great to see you as well.
>> Good evening. Good evening. Can you guys tell me good?
>> We can. We can.
>> What a time. Good evening, Bahamas.
>> Listen, girl, you you you I I tell you, you in that other area, if you had seen what I had to push through a minute ago, uh Grand Bahamas lit. How about that?
Lit. Lit lit. Lit. Absolutely. And I love it. I I absolutely love it. Um, okay. I don't see John, but let's just move this on you all because we'll try we will try and get in both constituencies uh this evening, which is Bambootown and Sance. But certainly, let's go to Bambootown. What can we say and what do we know about the Coalition of Independence candidate in the Bambootown constituency, Maria Dachon? Of course, uh, Maria Dachon is no stranger to Bambootown. She's ran there before, I believe. And so Gabrielle and Peggy, what can we say about Maria Daxon? Is she resonating? Is she making an impression? What is she telling the constituents and residents of Bambootown about moving them forward and making their lives better?
>> Um, good evening once again, Bahamas.
Thank you once again, Chenique. um in my research of Maria Daxon's um social media uh presence and footprints um Maria is fighting all kind of fight but I cannot find a fight for bamboo tongue.
There are few um billboards of Maria now um that we are this close to the general election but a a presence on social media is for like I said many many many fights. I just see one that is concerning what she will do or what she has been doing for Bambootown.
Good evening, Chenik, and good evening, Bahamas. Welcome to Temperature Check.
Listen, Bamboo Town is a very interesting seat. Maria Daxon has been known to be an advocate uh in the Bahamas at large and in Bambootown has been a roaring voice. She has been on the ground, she's been working. As a matter of fact, when I went to do my little temperature check down there, I saw her and another team member, it was just two of them canvasing the area going doortodoor. And I was able to talk to some of the residents who said that they have in fact spoken with Maria Daxon. So she is still on the ground down there in Bamboo Town. She's putting in the leg work. She's gotten however a bit quieter when it comes to agitating publicly. Usually um persons have been used to her being right next to her leader and as loud or even as louder than her leader, but that has seemingly calmed down a bit. But she has been on the ground focusing on doing the door too touching the residents of Bambootown.
>> Okay. Well, let's move forward. The free national movement's candidate Dr. Dwayne Sans. How is Dr. Dwayne Sans showing up in Bambootown? Is he resonating? And what message is he sharing on the ground as he goes doortodoor?
>> Gabby.
>> Dr. Sans. Dr. Sans has been showing up.
Dr. Sans has showed up very big in Bambootown. We didn't expect him to come out with such a huge fanfare. Um like he is showing up on the ground. He has been making his rounds door to door early mornings late nights and he's been well received from the residents. I went through Dr. Sans has one of the watering holes like right next to his headquarters in case you all don't know.
>> So that's the one you went in >> right next to his headquarters and he got one like on the corner like water and holes in Babang you know. So if you want to find the people they had to find and Dr. Sans has been connecting with the young people in terms of giving them opportunity for entrepreneurship. He just recently hosted a health fair. Um it was it was huge as well as a grill and chill. Um continuing to connect with the residents. As we knew he got on the ground a little bit later than the other candidates seeing that he would have moved from the Elizabeth constituency to now Bambootown, but he is making waves down there in Bambootown and definitely giving the other two candidates a run for their money.
>> Okay. Anyway, let's go and talk about the the incumbent, the other candidate, uh the Progressive Liberal Party's Patricia DVAU. What do we know about Patricia Dvau? She has now served a term in Bambootown. How is she shown up? How is she showing up? And what is she sort of how what is her message like to Bamboo Town to reelect her and move forward with her?
>> Okay, Chenique. Well, I rely strictly on what I find on social media. Um, I call her Madame Speaker. She has a strong Facebook presence, everything. She's one of those member of parliaments who have um documented every move over the last four and a half years. She have been running many programs in Bambootown. Um she have a program for seniors. She is connected with the schools making many presentation and gifts to the various schools in our department. She is also running a um small home repairs >> for for the less fortunate and especially seniors and she's also been assisting with um burials of loved one of her constituents. Um she does the regular um annual Mother's Day, Father's Day, back to school, Christmas, um Thanksgiving. She's been constant in that in a constituency. From my observation, she has de developed a very strong relationship with her constituents. Um at her opening, she was surrounded by supporters. She was around especially a strong female presence.
Even at the last rally Monday night when she came on a a very exciting motor cave, she was surrounded by women and they are so passionate about supporting her and she is doing very well keeping connected over the last four and a half years. Additionally, I I don't want to leave out um she has done cleaning and she partners partners with the various ministry to get the job done, garbage collection, um role payment and and she's just keeping our area aggressive and actively in the Walt. Gabrielle >> Patricia Dau uh she has enjoyed being the speaker uh of the house for the la for this administration and she's grown wide popularity from that. Now, is it a positive or negative thing for the residents of Bamboo Town? As often she's gotten a lot of flack from her role a as being the speaker. And when I got to speak with a lot of uh Bambootown residents, they had a lot of it was a mixed bag of emotions with them. A lot of things she wanted to do, she was not able to do. It's especially when it comes to infrastructure. Bambootown residents are complaining about poor infrastructure down there through a lot of the corners, sink holes, potholes, and unfortunately she was not able to tackle those during this tenure. They're complaining about flooding through various uh corners when you get behind that southern section uh opposite uh porkies near that area of Bamboo Town.
They're complaining about the infrastructural issues there that were not addressed in this term. So, uh, Patricia Dvau is also one of those candidates that was being rumored to be replaced during this time for the progressive Liberal Party and many um of the constituents that I spoke with would have opted to decide would not have ran her again in this term. Some of them were PLPs who will still support the party but they would have rather the party send another candidate. She's now though it in the last few weeks been getting some results from Ministry of Works in terms of paving exercises and trying to get some things done. But it appears that person's minds in Bambootown are made up and it doesn't matter how much things you do now uh they have a bad taste left in their mouth. Oh, really?
>> I don't know.
>> Wow. Good. Good. Good. Boy, she need to do more then. Listen, I want to ask you both and I was hoping we could get ease quickly into Stance, but I I I just don't know. Y'all are so longwinded.
Maybe should we try and test that? So, Peggy and Gabrielle quickly, where is Bamboo Town leaning right now tonight?
>> I still feel that um the serving member of parliament um parliament has the advantage simply because she's there.
She's been working and I believe um Bamboo Town will make a choice of going with Patricia for progress.
>> Boy, I think Bamboo Town is going with the doctor. I think the doctor has come based on the the the the straw pose I've done. The doctor has come and swept them off their feet. He might not have been able to do it in Elizabeth, but I think the doctor found the right patient for them.
>> The B doctor can get a weapon from another female again.
But Madam Speaker will put a weapon on him that he tried to escape from Joe.
He's going to get beaten from another strong PLP woman. So I I I sorry to bush your bubble.
>> So So I'll tell you this. According to the two of them right now tonight, cuz we have no third person to to give any other uh point of view, >> it's it's licking licking and bamboo.
>> It's split right down the middle. He might as well just stay in Lizzy and let Joette beat him.
>> I'll I I I thank you all so much. Thank you so much for being here. Team team, what should what should we do? Do we have another break or >> It's only >> I I know the show is just about done.
Team, somebody talk to me. Y'all talk to me with every other quiet. Um thank you all very very much. Uh uh uh Peggy and Gabrielle, thank you so much.
And to that Grand Bahama too hot to handle those ones. And I love the fact that you know what uh because when we attempted to get into Grand Bahama for temperature check, you know, Grand Bohemians feel as though excuse me, how dare you? And so I had to fight to find a a a panel saying I'm very grateful I do have one. And I think that hey, they speak, they give their opinions and their thoughts just like we do with every you all do with all of the other constituencies. And so by all means, let's do it. Love it. And of course, I thank you both as well for stepping in to revisit. By the way, I want to I want to ask you both. We have done in excess of of at least 25 uh uh constituencies already.
Who stands out as a candidate to you at this point? Uh it's it's less than two weeks outside out from elections. Who stands out? We've already done like I said more than 25 constituencies already. who is standing out and and making the right impression and hitting all the right notes.
>> Lincoln deal in Fre. Lincoln deal in Fre. I'm going I'm going with the young superstar in Freing up and showing out. He's had um his nomination presence cuz we did we ended up doing him right before a nomination.
He had an outstanding nomination presence. youth uh seniors in the community and I I I believe that tomorrow come advance poll day he is going to take that advance poll. Well, Peggy, before you give your before you give your thoughts, I just want to talk about Freetown. Lincoln has his hands full because of course there's the incumbent Wayne Monroe. There is the independent Andrew Blue Johnson. There is uh there is uh >> Connor Kerry and then there's the coalition of independents. So, man, that right there that's a that's a tight race that one. And so, Peggy is not Peggy is not a simple matter. Peggy Peggy, I ask you one question. If you and Gabby don't listen to me, who stands out? Who continues to stand out? Perhaps all a fresh and a new is standing out for you.
>> I have to give it to Leon and Lundy.
Leon Lundy is w far ahead. He is doing a tremendous job. His presence is growing.
His support is amazing. And I think the young man should have saved his his $400 cuz he's going to get pumped. And um South Andrew, >> of course. Again, thank you, Peggy. Of course, that is uh South and Central Andros. The incumbent there is Leon Lundy. The free national movement's candidate there is Julian Gibson. And of course, we all know that there is the coalition uh the coalition's candidate is there as well. The name doesn't immediately come to mind and I was trying to quickly scroll to see if I can find it. Uh I'm not able to at this very moment, but but we know it's a three-way race there in Central and South Andros.
And of course, we will be watching. I think you will I think What did you think, Ariel?
>> They will.
>> I I'm trying to remember his name was Charles, but I know.
>> Yeah, I'm trying to I'm trying to remember the name as well myself. But I thank you. I thank you all so so much.
And again, a huge hey, big hello and thank you to the Grand Bahama panel. I listen y'all y'all got to just go to catch up to them. They they are they on a different thing all together in Grand Bahama. Peggy, I thank you so much.
Gabrielle, I thank you as well. And of course to all of you tuning in this evening, thank you very much for tuning in. Thank you very much for embracing temperature check and having an awesome time with it. I I enjoy doing it as well. I look forward to seeing you right back here tomorrow evening. For the entire Beam Headlines team, I'm Chen Miller. Make it a great
