Yeah, so this agreement or this pact happened on the sidelines of the Shangri-La dialogue happening in Singapore over the weekend.
But believe it or not, all our internet communications depend a lot on these underwater infrastructure. We're talking data traffic through these fiber optic optic cables under the water, but what happens when something is damaged or cuts happen. So these countries, about 17 of them, mostly in Southeast Asia, Europe, Australia and the Middle East agreed on this. Now, the problem is the two biggest countries or the two biggest economies in the world, the US and China, were notably absent from this, prompting concerns from about analysts that the effectiveness of this agreement could be limited.
Let's have a look at facing limitations because of these two heavyweights not taking part. Right, so that means there are restrictions or uh constraints, I could say, or boundaries that prevent uh this pact from being very forceful in its enforcement.
>> So this project faces limitations.
What about a notable absence of America and China?
>> Yeah, so if something is absent, that means it's been omitted, uh not included. But if it's notable, that means you expect something to be there, but it's very it's it's notable that it's missing, right? It stands out.
>> notable, 눈에 띄는 absence 빈자리 그냥 빈자리도 너무나 큰 빈자리입니다.
>> Because we are talking about the very important parties of the US and China.
Um it's obviously notable. Noticeable is another similar word, not quite the same.
>> 자, 다시 한번 읽어보겠습니다.
