The Sacred Rodeo Clown: God of Comedy & Tragedy

[00:00:03]I am the god of comedy and tragedy.

[00:00:26]Every day I wake [music] up and I walk into an arena.

[00:00:37]>> [music] >> I do a little dance with the bull of Dharma.

[00:00:49]Sometimes the bull gets the better of me.

[00:00:53]>> [music] >> And sometimes I get the better of the bull.

[00:01:00]>> [music] [music] >> At the end of the night I at least know that everyone is entertained.

[00:01:15]>> [music] >> As the people file out of the arena and leave the fairground >> [music] >> I wander through the lights in drunken ecstasy.

[00:01:36]This is my home but it knows no land.

[00:01:42]>> [music] >> It moves with joy and excitement for the next town.

[00:01:51]>> [music] >> When I am tired and ready for rest >> [music] >> I find my way to a dark and secluded corner of the fairground.

[00:02:05]This is my abode.

[00:02:11]I live in a camper trailer.

[00:02:14]On some nights you can see smoke billowing from cracks in the door and open windows.

[00:02:27]There are strange lights and soft eerie country music flows [snorts] through the wind across the fairground into the empty arena where no one can hear it.

[00:02:52]And occasionally I hear a knock on the door.

[00:02:58]>> [music] >> Someone asking for advice.

[00:03:07]>> [music] >> I tell a joke >> [music] >> hand them a card >> [music] >> and send them on their way.

[00:03:30]>> [music] [music] >> I rest on my couch >> [music] >> with a pack of special cigarettes.

[00:03:45]>> [music] [music] >> Every night I smoke one.

[00:03:55]>> [music] [music] >> And from the smoke >> [music] >> manifests my consort.

[00:04:18]>> [music] >> She is like a cosmic genie.

[00:04:26]>> [music] >> Sad and happy.

[00:04:33]Beautiful and terrifying.

[00:04:38]>> [music] >> This is my god form.

[00:04:44]I wear a cowboy hat and a red checkered shirt, suspenders, blue jeans, boots, and my face is always painted.
