A visit to Anchorage's municipal greenhouseAñadido:
Well, we are finally getting some warmer temperatures in the Anchorage area. Now, if only spring would add a little color.
Or Maxwell went looking for today, and I think you'll agree she hit the jackpot.
There's not much to see on the outside of these municipal greenhouses here in Russian Jack Park, but when you walk into this beautiful space, it just makes you feel alive.
And why not? The greenhouses are bursting with life. I love this coral kind of color. Oh, yeah. That's really special. Yeah. Thousands of beautiful flowers. They're statice plants. They're just really cute, aren't they? That are just about ready to go in the ground. So, we grow all of our plants from seed, and it takes months obviously [music] to get them to this size and flowering. These are the plants you'll soon see in parks and other public spaces. Kales and cabbages, yeah.
So Alaskan. Yeah. And of course, the beautiful baskets that Anchorage is known for.
You may notice there's a bit of a theme to this year's plantings. Well, it's our 250th anniversary of the United States. So, there's a lot going to be a lot of red, white, and blue probably.
And should you happen to see the people who are tending to these plants, So, they're like our little babies.
We care a lot about the plants. You might want to stop and thank them.
>> And I think it feels really good for people to acknowledge the work that goes into it. For bringing us a little color that everyone can enjoy. Lauren Maxwell, Alaska's News Source.
And the city will plant those first beds sometime next week, but one sad note though, they are not planting flowers in Town Square Park this year. That is due to ongoing construction at the park.
