This video reports on escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, where both nations conducted military strikes despite ongoing ceasefire negotiations, with Iran retaliating against US allies and accusing the US of violating the ceasefire, while President Trump claimed Iran was 'negotiating on fumes' and threatened military action against Oman, a former mediator between the two nations.

Iran says it retaliated against new U.S. strikes as Trump claims Tehran is negotiating on "fumes"本站添加:
And the US attacked Iran again, calling this round defensive strikes. According to the Pentagon, an airport was targeted in the western part of the country. Iran says it retaliated against US allies, and it accused the US of violating the ceasefire.
CBS News senior foreign correspondent Imtiaz Tyab joins us now from Tel Aviv in Israel with more. Imtiaz, good morning. Uh tell us more details about these strikes.
>> Carol, good to be with you. Well, to answer your question, Iran's Revolutionary Guard has said it's targeted an American air base after a US attack overnight near one of its coastal airports. Now, the IRGC did not say which US base it had targeted, but warned of a quote, "More decisive response to come."
>> As I've said a thousand times, their navy is gone, their air force is gone.
Everything's gone, and they're negotiating on fumes.
>> That was President Trump's claims at yesterday's White House cabinet meeting.
But this morning, Iran says it fired at a US air base in retaliation, Tehran said, for a US strike overnight near Bandar Abbas airport on its western coast.
Kuwait, which hosts a large US Army base, today said it intercepted missile and drone threats without saying where it came from. The [snorts] flare-up follows the Pentagon's announcement on Monday US forces carried out quote, "Defensive strikes on Iranian missile launch sites and mine-laying boats in southern Iran." Iranian state TV later broadcast this video of what it says is the Revolutionary Guard tracking and firing at a US F-35 jet and downing an MQ-9 Reaper drone. We have no way of independently verifying the claims.
But as Washington and Tehran continue to negotiate the future of the Strait of Hormuz after imposing dueling blockades on it and sending global energy prices soaring, President Trump appeared to threaten a key ally.
>> Nobody's going to control. It's international waters and Oman will behave just like everybody else and we'll have to blow them up. They understand that. They'll be fine.
>> Now, it's unclear whether the president meant the US would take military action against Oman, which was a former mediator between Iran and the US in previous talks. But, the growing frequency of what appears to be tit-for-tat US and Iranian strikes continues to raise really serious questions about just how durable this ceasefire really is. Errol.
>> Uh, indeed. MTS, thank you.
