[00:00:12]You may know me from MTV 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom. I grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I was very good in sports and music. That's where I used to see my life growing up. And oddly, everything took a turn when I became pregnant.

[00:00:30]I met my daughter's father, Derek, when I was 15. I became pregnant after a year of us dating. Sophia's father ended up dying in a car accident when I was still pregnant. Through filming 16 and pregnant, emotionally, I was in depression. I would cry uncontrollably and I was very lax at focusing on my parental duties. I was so busy being sad, I wasn't paying attention to, wow, how have I changed through pregnancy? My teeth had misaligned. My nose totally looked different than growing up. And my boobs went even flatter after pregnancy than when I was a teenager.

[00:01:10]Because of being on TV and social media, my job is to look my best for others.

[00:01:15]Over 2 and 1/2 years, I had two breast augmentations, rhinoplasty, and a chin implant. I started getting lip fillers, but then I realized that fillers don't last forever. So, I wanted to look into a permanent lip implant. The day of the lip surgery, the doctor was telling me, "Well, I need to inject stuff here to block these nerves." My body had an extreme reverse reaction. I'm asking him, "Am I showing any signs of allergic reaction?" And he's over there laughing.

[00:01:47]I was shocked that the doctor himself didn't take me to the emergency room.

[00:01:50]Being a public figure, I felt like I need to post this up. I need to show others that this is very messed up what I went through and hopefully that this can save them from going through the same botched messed up lip augmentation.

[00:02:12]She had tweeted from the emergency room and she came into my office. So, I wanted to see her to see what was going on and see if I could help her.

[00:02:19]>> I'm thankful that you could see me today. I was lucky to get in to see Dr. Dro cuz I didn't know what to do about my lips.

[00:02:26]>> He kept injecting whatever he was injecting me with. My lip was all the way up to here blocking my nose.

[00:02:33]>> So, you never had a procedure done. It was just you were just injected with numbing medicine and something else in order to prepare you to do the procedure. Right. That swelling could have gone into your tongue, the back of your throat, cut off your airway, and basically choked you to death.

[00:02:50]What if you can't fix it?

[00:02:51]>> Well, let me see what's going on. Wow.

[00:02:55]So, I think you had a combination of two things. One, you bled into your lip.

[00:02:59]That's called a hematoma. Number two, you clearly had an allergic reaction to something. So, you're given a steroid.

[00:03:04]That's appropriate. And benadryil.

[00:03:08]>> And antibiotics. Until Farah's allergic reaction completely resolves. I just want her to wait on the whole lymph implant idea. After that, Paul and I will give her the best advice we possibly can.

[00:03:21]>> But I honestly am not going to be happy with my lip when it goes all the way flat again. And I really wanted to put a lip implant in.

[00:03:29]>> Don't rush back into doing this right away. Okay.

[00:05:18]>> Yes. With a lip implant, >> right? Because you had had fillers put in your upper and your lower lip many times in the past.

[00:05:27]>> You wanted a permanent solution, right?

[00:05:29]>> Yes, I did.

[00:05:29]>> They started the procedure by putting some numbing medicine through a needle.

[00:05:35]>> Mhm. I had a horrible altercation, which could have been allergic reaction.

[00:05:40]So how long after that started did your lips start to swell?

[00:05:44]>> Immediately when he was injecting my face >> there is this thing called tachyphilaxis which essentially means you have had exposure to a certain agent for a number of times.

[00:05:55]One of those times you react to it from that point ever more you are now more sensitive to that thing.

[00:06:03]>> I ended up going to the emergency room.

[00:06:05]Did the doctor make a recommendation?

[00:06:07]Since you were so swollen, it might be a good idea for you to go to the hospital, >> emergency room. So, we did do that. The doctor actually came by to the hospital.

[00:06:15]>> I never saw the plastic surgeon, but the ER doctor was just voicing to me saying, "Wow, I've never had a plastic surgeon come in here. I'm happy that he was concerned and worried, but the ER doctor was questioning him." And they said that they never got answers, clear answers from him. To be honest, it sounds like he was pretty, you know, pretty good.

[00:06:36]>> And then did you have communication with the doctor after you left the hospital?

[00:06:40]>> He was trying to have me come in. I did not want to go back and see him.

[00:06:44]>> See, one one thing that's where the problem belong. It appears the doctor did nothing wrong. He did all the right treatment. He went to the hospital to see her, but Farah got on her social media and boom, it was horrible. The reaction to this on Twitter was doctor basically ruined me. And that's how I think some of that came off probably to the public, you know, because you have a very strong media presence. Obviously, >> I was just trying to make others aware that something bad happened over something so little. Maybe that was my social way of helping, but I don't really know how to share that.

[00:07:20]>> We just I think we would want to know that if we ever had a problem with you, you would go, "Hey, I know you guys know what you're doing and you care." Fair is a little bit scary to be honest with you. What are your goals with your lips?

[00:07:31]>> My goals is to have them plump and satisfactory and find something that fits for my life so I don't have any traumatic experiences further.

[00:07:41]>> We want to help you.

[00:07:42]>> Yes.

[00:07:43]>> Especially prevent you from doing anything future that could maybe cause a problem.

[00:07:49]>> Well, I think what we need to do is figure out what are the chances you're going to have another reaction. You could be tackyactic to these agents. now.

[00:07:59]>> # nervous # scared.

[00:08:04]>> So, you've completely healed from the other thing. Yeah, >> I believe so.

[00:08:08]>> Do you have any bruises left from that?

[00:08:09]No. Nothing.

[00:08:10]>> It's been weeks, months.

[00:08:11]>> It's interesting. I think she does have a little bit of nodularity in your lower. Farah was lucky. She was able to avoid any longterm damage from her allergic reaction, but there's a very good chance it could happen again. If I just squeeze your lip right now for about a minute, you're gonna have a big swollen lip for the next, you know, 24 hours.

[00:08:32]>> Maybe that's how I should plump my lip now.

[00:08:34]>> You could do that. You can actually just manipulate your doctor's crap.

[00:08:38]>> You might have dodged a bullet. They might have hit a blood vessel with a sharp needle. Your lip will go shoot up.

[00:08:43]>> If my lips and me are not in agreement, then I have to just stay neutral and not do anything moving forward.

[00:08:50]>> So, after hearing all this, what's your two cents to get involved here?

[00:08:53]>> I would just leave it alone.
