Modern warfare increasingly involves economic warfare through targeted sanctions and precision strikes on critical infrastructure, which can effectively disrupt enemy military production capabilities. Simultaneously, nations under prolonged conflict often develop indigenous defense technologies and innovations, transforming from aid recipients into global drivers of defense innovation. This dual dynamic demonstrates how military conflict can simultaneously weaken an adversary's economic and industrial capacity while fostering technological advancement in the defending nation.

UKRAINE strikes DEEP inside MOSCOW REGION: oil & military sites ablaze!Añadido:
Hello, my name is Henry Keen. This is News Bulls at UAV and all you've been waiting. Welcome to the daily segment.
Today in the episode, Moscow never slips. Most literally from now on, the burning aftermath of Putin rejecting Ukrainian ceasefire proposal.
The Ukrainian made ballistics, the Ukrainian made glide bombs, all on the way to the Ukrainian victory. Watch most literally the necessity breeds innovation in action.
A crucial producer for Russian military microchip industry of Russia, major producer of artificial sapphires named Mono Crystal goes bankrupt.
The security service of Ukraine in close collaboration with the defense forces of Ukraine struck a military-industrial complex enterprise and several war facilities in the Moscow region ablaze as of now while you're watching this Angstrom plant which supplies semiconductors for the Russian military-industrial complex and machines and is under US sanctions by the way but Ukrainian sanctions were a bit more pressing obviously as you can see. Also Moscow oil refinery on fire. Sonich no hors oil terminal and Volodaska. Yeah that is a oil pumping station. All on fire all good. All as per Vladimir Putin's plan but looking at what you are just about to see. You might want to ask yourself could it be that Vladimir Putin was planning his special military operation against Russia in the first place?
Well, in case anyone was in doubt, the drone attacks on Moscow and the surrounding region are entirely justified. Response to Russia's dragging this war and its strikes on Ukrainian cities and communities states President Zilinski, Ukraine's long range capabilities quote are significantly changing the situation and shifted the balance of activity on the front line.
Many partners are now signaling that they see what is happening and how everything has changed both in attitudes towards this war and in the reachability of Russian targets on Russian territory.
The war is quite predictably returning to its native harbor and this is a clear signal that one should not pick a fight with Ukraine or wage an unjust war of conquest against another people specifically against the people. Special operation forces of Ukraine in a joint operation with the armed men system forces targeted the Razan refinery on the night of 14th 15th May. A large scale fire recorded at the site the Razan oil refinery owned by the Russian state-run oil company Ross Neft is located more than 500 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. It is one of the most powerful oil processing facilities in Russia with most of its products exported abroad. And Ukrainian drones have previously struck the Razan refinery multiple times, but the facility produces aviation fuel, petrol, and diesel fuel for the Russian war machine.
Looking at Russian ballistic terror in Ukraine, the anti-bballistic defense coalition seemed quite an inevitable option. And now it is symbolic that Volinski confirms calling it an important step. France pioneers and announces its readiness to develop ballistic missile defense together with Ukraine. President Bologinski announced the breakthrough agreement with French President Emmanuel Macron stating that France has committed to actively cooperating with Ukraine in anti-bballistic missile defense. The bilateral talks focused heavily on immediately reinforcing Ukraine's air defense capabilities following devastating multi-regional Russian missile and drone barrage. France has pledged to broaden its defense commitment to Ukraine by offering specialized technical and operational cooperation to counter Russia's intensifying use of ballistic weaponry.
The announcement follows between Zilinski and Macron on Saturday, May 16th.
I thanked Emanuel for his principled condemnation of Russian strikes on our cities and communities. These attacks make very clear what Russia is and why we all need to strengthen our collective defense against all threats. France is ready to work on anti-bballistic capabilities. This is a strong decision and an important step. We also discussed boosting our ability to repel Russian attacks right now. Vladimir Zalinski, president of Ukraine on X.
Ukraine continues to develop its own high-tech solutions for the front line.
A brave one that is a Ukrainian defense innovation hub and it has created the first Ukrainian guided aerial bomb gab gap which has already passed the necessary test and is ready for combat deployment. The development process took 17 months. The Ukrainian Gab features a unique design and was created considering the realities of modern warfare. It is not just a copy of Western or Soviet solutions, but a proprietary development by Ukrainian engineers designed specifically for the effective destruction of enemy military fortifications, command posts, and other targets dozens of kilometers deep into its territory. The warhead is quite powerful, weighs 250 kg, and the Ministry of Defense has already purchased the first experimental batch of these bombs. Currently, pilots are practicing combat scenarios and adapting the use of the new weapon to real warfare conditions. And obviously, Ukraine is scaling solutions that increase strike range and accuracy, changing the rules of modern warfare, no less. And we all can't wait for new Ukrainian gabs to be deployed right where they belong against enemy targets.
Indeed, Ukraine is rapidly transforming from a recipient of international military aid into a leading global driver of defense innovation. According to military analyst Peter Apps in a column for Reo's, Western companies and governments are actively seeking access to Ukrainian technology. They are particularly impressed by Ukraine's ability to develop to develop cheap, simple, and effective solutions that often outperform those costly complex systems of its allies. The US military openly admits that Ukraine's Delta situational awareness system already integrates drones, sentence, and artillery into an unified network in a level of integration. The US Army is still struggling to achieve. Ukrainian FPV drones, air defense systems, and unmanned ground vehicles have proven that mass production and flexibility can be far more effective than ultra expansive high precision weapons against this backdrop. Germany and other European nations are boosting their own support for Ukraine while pursuing strategic partnerships in defense technology.
On May 14th, Russian troops targeted a vehicle with clear UN markings on it. It happened in Herson, Russians using FPV drones. The vehicle belonged to an inter agency humanitarian mission led by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Despite being informed in advance about the arrival of the program's representatives, the Russian occupiers struck the UN vehicle anyway and twice. Afterwards, they posted a video on social media openly bragging their drones attacking the car, and the United Nations in response did yes, nothing as usual, except their famously worthless deep concern expressions. And so while Russians are openly bragging about striking the UN vehicles online, Secretary General Antonio Gutieres did not manage to find anything even somewhat looking like balls, excuse me, boldness to name Russia as the perpetrator.
Global interest in Ukraine's defense tech sector is surging. KV now hosts major defense tech forums and international firms are competing for access to Ukrainian innovations and battlefield data. Despite relentless Russian strikes and the grueling domestic situation, Ukraine has become a living laboratory for next generation warfare. Foreign partners are coming here to learn how to fight a modern war in the era of drones, AI, and the digital battlefield. But you can't make that many partners without actually making some enemies. Of course, >> you cannot keep poking a big bear in the eye with a hot iron as Ukrainian drones are doing deep inside Russia and expect nothing to happen. Eventually, the bear will strike back.
>> And now, dear viewers, please consider the next message to Alice Vel from German political party alternativa Fu Deutseland AFD. on behalf of 40 million Ukrainians.
So on behalf of 40 million Ukrainians and the hundreds of millions of those who stand firm with them around the globe, we completely agree with you, Comrade Vital. For eight long years after the annexation of Crimea and through nearly 5 years of a brutal criminal invasion and just days ago, 24 civilians were killed in another strike.
Amongst them were two children from a single family. Children whose father had already given his life on the front lines a year ago. These strikes were ordered even after Ukraine has offered a ceasefire and allowed Vladimir Putin and his oligarchs to worship their fetish parade of victory over Nazi Germany.
So yes, comrade Vital, you are correct.
You cannot keep poking the bear forever.
But there is one critical detail you are intentionally ignoring here. The angry, the wounded bear that has been poked in the eye since the day Crimea was annexed for 13 years in a row is Ukraine. And we make no apologies while looking at Moscow in flames other than remind us why we are doing it. You are right. The bear is awake and is just getting started.
So, comrade vital, here is the message from Ukraine to your handlers in Moscow in such an easy terms that even Vladimir Putin will be able to understand him for being a KGB officer in Germany for many years. The alternative is alternative.
The Russian defense sector began falling apart. Most literally enterprise Mono Crystal has went bankrupt. There are several reasons for this. Damage to its production facilities in the Belg region after Ukrainian strikes, supply chain disruption for raw materials and the closure of the European markets and also falling demand in Asia. Mono Crystal is one of the world leaders in the production of synthetic sapphires which are used amongst other things in the manufacturing of missiles and drones.
More about holes in Russian economy in the following story for you.
>> Putin has claimed that Russia's economy is showing supposedly positive results, but the real figures point to serious budget problems, rising spending caused by the war against Ukraine, and a worsening situation for businesses, analysts say.
Putin did not mention that data from Russia's Ministry of Economic Development shows Russia's GDP declined yearon-year in January and February 2026. The ministry also lowered its GDP growth forecast for 2026 from 1.3% to 0.4% from a report by the Institute for the Study of War.
>> Russia's banking system has already crossed a dangerous line beyond which a crisis begins. According to experts from Russia's Center for Macroeconomic Analysis and short-term forecasting, they confirmed that a hidden or latent crisis is already underway in Russia.
According to the center, in February, more than 11.5% of the total assets and loan portfolio of the banking sector had already become problematic. Under global economic standards, once this figure passes 10%, a full-scale banking crisis begins in a country. A rise in overdue debt together with more people withdrawing cash from banks could further undermine financial stability.
>> The negative trend that continued throughout 2025 has also persisted at the beginning of 2026. Another sign of the deteriorating situation was a sharp increase in overdue accounts receivable between companies which exceeded 8 trillion rubles for the first time or 3.8% of Russia's GDP. Almost half of Russian companies named delayed payments from counterparties as the main problem of last year from a statement on the website of Ukraine's foreign intelligence service. A shortage of workers, unaffordable loans, and technological regression against the backdrop of a record outflow of young people from manufacturing. Experts say Russia is entering a phase of reverse industrialization. Production is still relying on Soviet era technological foundations and old reserves. Because of sanctions on chips and software, electronics have to be simplified.
Equipment is becoming less smart. But it is being produced in larger quantities, replacing robotics with cheap manual labor. Enterprises are suffocating under expensive loans and a lack of investment. There is simply no money left to raise wages. Technological modernization, which could partly compensate for the shortage of people, is also stalling. Automation and digitalization are moving too slowly to replace those who have left or died. As a result, enterprises remain afloat only because of the number of staff, an archaic model that requires more and more people. From a statement on the website of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service, the world must cut off all supply channels to Russia for components used in the production of missiles and drones, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zalinski has said. He noted that during the attack on Kiev on the night of the 14th of May, the Russian army used missiles produced in 2026, "If the aggressor is not stopped now, it will go further and attack other countries." The head of state warned, "Without components from companies in Europe, without Kasim Prow and Duropa, Japan and the United States, the Russians simply would not have been able to produce these weapons. The same applies to most of the other means of destruction used by these monsters to strike our cities and ordinary Ukrainian homes." Russia's ties with the outside world that serve the war are a direct threat to life, not only here in Ukraine. If Russia's war machine survives, its next attacks may be directed against Europe and against Russia's other neighbors in distant regions. In recent months, a number of tough statements have been made at the highest international level by state leaders and foreign ministers. Their main message is to force Moscow to agree to peace by fully exhausting the Russian economy. The US Treasury Department did not extend a special license that had temporarily exempted maritime shipments of Russian oil from restrictions. The license expired on the 16th of May.
Russia is suffering from a static inflation shock. EU Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dumbrovskis told Politico that is why according to him during G7 meetings and bilateral talks with US officials, European representatives are stressing that now is not the time to ease pressure on Russia. The time has come to achieve more because Russia is doing badly, the European Commissioner emphasized. Reported by Victoria Chisukina, UAV News.
Well, that's it for today. I'm Henry Key and thank you so very much for paying your attention to this episode. We appreciate that in Ukraine. Also, please like, comment, and subscribe to our channel. Leave it all to us. UATV will get you covered on whatever tomorrow might hold for all of us in a bit of Ukrainian perspective. As usual, stay safe and see you soon. Goodbye.
