The semitendinosus muscle originates from the ischial tuberosity and inserts into the pes anserinus (medial superior tibia), receiving innervation from the sciatic nerve's tibial division (L4-S3) and blood supply from the profunda femoris artery and medial circumflex femoral artery; it functions to extend the hip and flex the knee.

SeMitenDinosus - origin, insertion, innervation, action, blood supply.追加:
Hello and welcome to Anatomy with John and Scully. Today we'll be talking about the semmitenosis muscle going over origin, insertion, action, intervation, and blood supply. Thank you for joining.
All righty. Semienosis.
Starting with the origin, it's going to originate on the isial tuberosity.
It's going to insert in the pezant serene area. Whack quack. Also known as the duck's foot in Latin. So that's going to be on the medial superior aspect of the tibia. And it's semiendinosis. So of the three tendons that are here, it's a little more medial and it's a little more distal. Sem e tendon osis. So the big M and the big D as you can see in the uh caption.
So there's the insertion. It's going to receive its intervation from the sciatic nerve, the tibial division. So the satic nerve is going to travel through the greater satic notch come down and off of nerve roots of um L4 to S3 from the tibial division is going to supply the semmitenosis.
Next looking at blood supply it's going to receive blood supply from a couple different arteries. So if we start the aorta it's going to bifurcate.
We're going to follow the external uh iliac artery. So it's going be common iliac artery. It'll further down travel become the external iliac artery. Once this travels posterior to the inguinal ligament, it becomes the femoral artery.
We'll follow that further around here.
We're going to get branch called the profund forous and prefundor is going to continue down. It's going to have these perforating branches which is also going to supply semmitenosis. Let's come back up to the profund forous. It's going to give off the medial circumflex femoral artery which is traveling posteriorly and medially around the femoral neck which is also going to supply the semmitendinosis.
So lastly looking at action it's going to help us to extend the hip as well as flex the knee.
So there you have it origin insertion action invation and blood supply of the semmitenosis muscle. As always, do not forget to eat your leafy greens and thank you for joining.
