The universe and the human brain may be connected in ways that are far deeper than we ever imagined. The connection begins with a simple fact. Everything in your body comes from the universe.
Nearly 14 billion years ago, the universe began with the Big Bang. In its earliest moments, only the simplest elements existed. Over millions and billions of years, stars formed and became giant cosmic furnaces creating heavier elements through nuclear fusion.
When these stars reached the end of their lives, many exploded as supernovae, scattering their contents across space. Among those elements were carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, iron, calcium, and countless others. Billions of years later, these ingredients became part of new stars, planets, and eventually life itself. Every atom in your brain was forged inside ancient stars long before Earth even existed. In a very real sense, your brain is not separate from the universe. It is a product of the universe.
The cosmos spent billions of years creating the materials that would eventually become you.
But, the connection goes beyond shared origins.
