U.S. Seizes Venezuela’s Enriched Uranium After Failing to Secure Iran’s Stockpile

[00:00:00]After failing to gain control over Iran's enriched uranium stockpile, the United States has now seized enriched uranium from Venezuela.

[00:00:08]On Friday, the US Department of Energy announced that it had removed 13.5 kg of enriched uranium from an old research reactor in Caracas.

[00:00:17]According to officials, the uranium had been enriched to slightly above 20% and was being used in the form of nuclear fuel.

[00:00:25]The material is now being transported by sea under strict international safety protocols to a nuclear facility in the US state of South Carolina.

[00:00:34]Washington described the joint operation involving the United States, the United Kingdom, and Venezuela as good news for global security.

[00:00:42]However, the Trump administration has still failed to secure Iran's much larger stockpile of approximately 408 kg of enriched uranium, which remains one of the biggest concerns in the ongoing nuclear tensions.
