Resentment politics is an age-old political technique where politicians deflect popular resentment by creating villains among fellow citizens rather than addressing root causes of economic disparity; this strategy, which historically targeted foreigners but now targets domestic groups, has been used to divide populations and maintain political power, as demonstrated by the Democratic Party's approach of blaming billionaires for working-class struggles.

Jeff Bezos Just SHOCKED the Left with This Truth!!!Hinzugefügt:
There are moments in American public life when someone says something so clear, so precise, and so devastating to the prevailing political narrative that the only honest response is to stop and ask why nobody in a position of power has been willing to say it out loud before. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos sat down for an interview with Andrew Sorkin on CNBC, and in the process Bezos looked directly at the camera and said something that every Democrat running on a tax the rich platform doesn't want you to hear.
>> I I think what's going on is that it's kind of a tale of two economies. So, you have a bunch of people in this country who are doing really well, but you also have a bunch of people in this country who are struggling.
Struggling with paying rent, groceries, and so uh what's you know, what's happening here is uh politicians are using the kind of age-old technique. So, there's this tale of two economies, and they're using this age-old technique of, you know, picking a villain and pointing fingers at them. But, the problem is that doesn't solve anything.
And so, like if you want to help the the the group of people who are struggling, you have to figure out real root causes and solutions, and that takes skill, you know.
>> Now, he was responding there directly to New York City Mayor Zoran Mandonni, who built his entire political platform on the premise that billionaires like Ken Griffin and Jeff Bezos are the they are the reason why working-class New Yorkers cannot afford to live in their own city.
And Bezos called that out for what it is. It's nothing more than the practice of resentment politics. That's the technical term for it. And by the way, he's right when he says it's an age-old political technique. Resentment politics goes all the way back to ancient Athens when politicians deliberately sought to deflect popular or resentment away from themselves and projected on to others.
But what makes our resentment politics so unique is that historically the villain was always some foreigner outside the city.
For the Athenians the villain was Sparta. For the Romans the villains were Carthage or the barbarians who lived outside the frontiers. Starting in the 1960s our resentment politics started creating villains out of our fellow citizens. And that's the Democrat party in a nutshell. It's the party of resentment politics that makes villains of fellow citizens. A basket of deplorables deplorables, losers as Biden called them, racist, white supremacist, bigots, sexist, phobics. That's the modern day Democrat party. They are addicted to a form of resentment politics that tries to divide the populace and then create a permanent largely urban metropolitan majority for themselves.
And and to a certain extent it's been successful. I mean the Republican party has basically gone extinct in most cities like Baltimore, Detroit, and Memphis. And those cities are perfect illustrations of Bezos' point that resentment politics don't work. You're not going to find a more faithful practitioner of resentment politics rhetoric than in Baltimore politics. I spent 10 years in Baltimore. Baltimore is as Democrat as it could possibly get and it is in Trump's immortal words the very definition of a
