In international diplomacy, maintaining credibility as a neutral mediator requires consistent and transparent conduct; attempting to serve as a peace broker while secretly supporting one party's military interests can lead to a rapid loss of trust and diplomatic capital, as demonstrated by Pakistan's aborted Iran visit where the country was exposed for allegedly allowing Iranian military aircraft to park on Pakistani airfields while simultaneously hosting peace talks.

Asim Munir’s Aborted Iran Visit: Trump’s Final Ultimatum, Rubio’s Leak & Pakistan Double Game| NewsXAñadido:
Hello and welcome. You're watching NewsX and I'm Shavani Singh. In the high stakes theater of global diplomacy, there is a very fine line between being a trusted peace broker and being a double agent. And right now, Pakistan's powerful army chief, General Assimir is walking that tight rope in full view of the world. For weeks, Islamabad has been positioning itself as the ultimate back channel mediator between Washington and Thran, trying to put a permanent lid on the volatile US Iran war. Now, Donald Trump has previously showered praise on Minui, even calling him his favorite field marshal. But just when a breakthrough seemed imminent, the script flipped and General Munir was all set to board a flight to Thran for a critical high-profile peace mission. The bags were packed, the runways were cleared, and Washington was wash watching with baited breath. And then at the absolute 11th hour, the trip was abruptly shelved. To understand how sudden this breaks on moment was, look at what was happening in Washington just hours before. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio openly voiced optimism to the reporter stating and I'm quoting here, I believe the Pakistanis will be traveling to Thran today. So hopefully that will advance this further.
Now even President Trump weighed in warning that negotiations were on the absolute borderline between a historic deal and renewed devastating military strikes. So why did Mun pull the plug?
Well, according to intelligence reports, it was Thran that blinked. The Iranian leadership informed Islamabad that they needed more time to review Washington's final stage proposal.
The US proposal reportedly demands absolute non-negotiable guarantees against Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon, a bitter pill that the Iran is struggling to swallow.
Well, rather than landing in a hostile room with no clear answers, Mun chose to stay at home. But while the official reason is that Thran needs more time, a far more explosive narrative is brewing behind the scenes, one that questions Pakistan's true intentions. While General Munir was projecting the image of a neutral peacemaker to Donald Trump, there are conflicting reports emerging.
It turns out even as Islamabad was hosting peace talks, Iranian military aircraft were reportedly allowed to park securely on Pakistani airfields. Let that sink in. While the US Navy was enforcing a strict naval blockade in the Gulf and US bombers were locked in on Iranian targets, America's favorite field marshall was allegedly providing safe harbor to the enemy's military assets. This revelation has triggered massive outrage in Washington with senior US lawmakers now calling for an immediate re-evaluation of Pakistan's mediation role. It seems the Pakistan it seemed it's like the classic Pakistani double game playing both sides of a conflict for financial and strategic leverage. This has now been exposed once again. So where does all this leave the West Asia crisis? Well, the conditional ceasefire brokered in April is holding by a thread, but the diplomatic trust is completely fractured. Pakistan's interior minister Mosen Nakwi has been sent to Thran as a lower level proxy to salvage the talks.
But the momentum has clearly shifted. As Munir wanted to fly into Thran as a global statesman, delivering a historic police deal to the White House. Instead, he is now forced to manage a massive credibility crisis. In modern geopolitics, you cannot run a peace clinic while keeping the keys to the arsonist carriage. By trying to keep Washington happy with diplomatic promises while keeping the close for regional security, Pakistan may have overplayed its hand. If Trump decides that he has been fooled, the transition from favorite field marshall to target of American sanctions can happen very quickly.
