[00:00:51]In the UK, we value freedom of speech, including the right to criticize political leaders and to lawfully protest.

[00:01:00]We will never tolerate or turn a blind eye to attempts by any foreign government to intimidate, harass, or harm people living in this country.

[00:01:17]Our law enforcement agencies have the powers they need to detect and disrupt this type of activity.

[00:01:24]They will continue to use the full force of the law against any perpetrators.

[00:01:30]This case shows exactly that.

[00:01:34]We will continue to hold the Chinese and Hong Kong authorities to account for any acts that threaten people's safety here in the UK.

[00:01:43]That is why the Foreign Office summoned the Chinese ambassador to make it clear that activity like this was and will always be unacceptable on UK soil.

[00:01:59]Earlier this year, we expanded the BNO visa scheme, honoring this country's historic commitment to the people of Hong Kong.

[00:02:07]And last year, completed the severing of extradition ties with Hong Kong.

[00:02:14]This government will not support extradition, which is politically motivated, or assists in the suppression of democracy or free speech.

[00:02:25]And to ensure police officers have the skills they need to identify and respond to this type of activity, last year, we also rolled out specialist training for all police forces in the UK.

[00:02:39]We greatly value the contribution of the Hong Kong community to this country, and your safety is paramount.
