Successful fishery design requires careful attention to water quality management through proper vegetation placement (reeds for filtration), strategic aeration systems, and thoughtful landscape features like waterfalls that create natural oxygenation; effective fishery management also involves addressing environmental challenges such as pollution and invasive species while creating engaging environments that support both fish health and angler experience.

Craziest FISHERY in the UK! Multi Millionaire's Secret Sanctuary TourAdded:
This is one of the most exclusive fishery tours I've ever done. A millionaire car anglers paradise down in Kent. I have never seen somewhere like this before. Management lodges, barbecue areas, multiple lakes over multiple sites. This is how you build your dream car fishery. Welcome to RG Fisheries. RG Fisheries is one of the best carp anglers havens on earth. The amount of care that goes into every single huge carp here and the facilities at this place are truly incredible. This RG fishery site spans over 30 acres with four lakes and each of these lakes offer a different car angling experience. But first, we're going to visit the man behind this fishery in his private lakeside cabin. So, Richard, what do we have here? So, this is my own little lodge. So, they stayed in here. Um, and then I use this for um, so the accounts meetings are here.
>> And that's for your main business.
>> That's for the main business. And sometimes I do the RG Fisheries, like the little YouTube videos I do from here, cuz it's just amazing outlook. I met Richard just over a year ago, and I've since come to know what is probably one of the most talented entrepreneurs in the UK. He makes money from his business, Active Digital, as well as multiple property projects over the years and even profiting from his super and hypercar collection. But in the background, Richard has been building this dream fishery. You know, fishing for me is where but you know when you fight depression because whatever you do, it doesn't matter how much you got.
I always found that fishing was like my solace place where I could just go. I could just get away from things, you know, I was just under that oak tree fishing and I thought up a little idea for Active Digital and this building which is almost like it was your main HQ on the lake, but we're going to go and see what else you've been up to building cuz you're always bigger and better. But this is what a modular building.
>> Yeah, this is just like an oak frame building. Um it's been here quite a while now >> and it's even got your own race scent.
So you can be on the sim doing laps of Brans Hatch or Silverstone while you've got your rods out.
>> If the fishing's bad, if you're not catching any fish >> and then do some work if it's me or you then we'll be blanking because you've had some amazing anglers down here, right? You have Dean Macy all the time.
Yeah. And they use this for so when he was building product I don't know if he's still on the thing but he would be writing on the wood different product and they built a lot of the product here. So what did this view look like when you took this lake on?
>> Well, if you can imagine that when we took it over, it had a fishery here which was Paddockwood Angling Club and this was called Craford Lakes. They wanted to change it to Matfield, have a fresh start. But the people that owned it before didn't allow them to do any works on the water. So they wasn't allowed to touch a tree or if trees fell in, they had to leave them. So it affected the fishing a lot because as you can imagine, fish go to snags. they don't get their, you know, they cut their mouths and so a lot of the condition of the carp was poor. So, I think when you're building something like this, you want to be, you need air, as you know, to grow fish for it to work well cuz when you've got lots of trees, you've got lots of leaf litter going in, it's building up silt. So, a lot of this we've taken down, but then what we did was again push up the banks with the silt and add reads cuz you want reads in there to filter the water.
And also it looks really >> we can literally be in there making a cup of tea racing on the sim rods out blanking.
>> Yeah.
>> But your other favorite place that's going to get be to fish from is in front of a whole new building you've just built. So should we go and have a look at that? So behind us is your brand new fishery management lodge. How long have you had this? Not very long. Only under a year. We only started using it at the weekend for the charity event and that was really good. And then the aim cuz we've raised over 37,000 in the last four years um for help for heroes and for Tumbage Wells NHS.
>> Wow.
>> And that's what we created the Kenny Cup which you see in there. And we wanted to to do something in memory of our friend who fished here three times a week for like six years. Kenny's actual PB was this fish. Yeah. We created the fish here and then there's a winner. So these are the four years that we've done it.
Um and then what we wanted to do was have this sort of land monetary build and then we could be in here and and maybe try and raise more money. So my goal started out to raise £10,000. We're now at 37. I think we could do a million over the next 10 years if we really concentrated on it. We want to raise awareness around fishing for mental health. We know that NHS are looking at it as being almost a prescription sort of thing. I don't if you know that, but in fishing, they're saying that fishing is one of the best things for mental health.
>> And this space, this building, just building a building, how quick did this go up? What was the idea?
>> Go up pretty quick. And then it's taken time to, you know, cuz you're trying to put money together to do the kitchen.
These pods are old. We're going to reframe them. We're getting all the pictures done of the fish.
>> So, where are we going to go now?
>> So, we're going to go to King Fisher. Um there's two little small ponds here. One of my daughters named King Fisher and then we've got Mayflower which has got a little waterfall which we'll show you.
We can actually make that run today. How the guy was tuning the the sound.
>> You had your waterfall tuned to the >> I didn't know but Pete who done it was so into lakes and waterfalls and bu he built the bridge um and he was wanted the sound to be right as it comes down.
He built it on his own in a week. So when you see it, >> think I know he's crazy.
>> This is King Fisher.
>> Yeah. So this is King Fisher and we got um some really nice carp in here. This is a bit easier. So when you sort of are on liies and you decide that you haven't caught for a while, you move. We've got some nice fish to sort of 36 lb in here in this little one. And we sort of grow them on a little bit in here as well.
>> So it's sort of like a hybrid growing pond. Plus you just get a few bites, enjoy. It's nice that people can use it rather than it just being a stock pond.
>> And you dug this one out from scratch.
So this >> Well, this was already here.
>> So that building there, this was originally the pumping station for all the houses at the top. And then we've recently just desilted it and again pushed everything in. So taken no soil, just pushed everything to the banks, then reeded it. And of course, it's gone like crazy cuz the silt is so fertile.
>> Pump house.
>> Yeah. Well, I didn't know pump houses look that good. Have you had to rebuild this? No, that's it. That's as it was.
Um, we just put some some oak doors on.
Look at this, guys. An oakled picturesque pump house as if it's been there forever. But everything here, every detail, every little thing. It's no different to specking up a car. The swims, the boards at the front, the buildings, the way the grass is trimmed, the roads is just perfection. And the other thing that you can spec up and is complete perfection is Hello Lresh. See, eating much healthier foods and key to me, the correct portion sizes was critical in me going from 16 stone to 12 stone a few years ago. And that's why for over 4 years, I've relied on HelloFresh using them over and over again. They helped me keep on track with those health goals while not sacrificing amazing food. HelloFresh's numbered bags that correspond to menu cards are the perfect size to drop into your food bag when you're going fishing. This critically for anglers saves space because normally you have all this bulky packaging inside bags, meaning you can take amazing tasting food with you to the bank while saving lots of space. And there's a huge variety of meals for you to choose from from their everchanging weekly menus. And for those of you that aren't the most competent cooks, over the years HelloFresh has pretty much taught me how to cook anything. Their menu cards are that good that I've gone from just being able to heat something up in a microwave to pretty much being able to cook anything that I want. Many of you may be wondering because you see me frequently traveling from work. What happens when you go away or go on holiday? Well, using the HelloFresh app or just logging on online, you can pause, cancel, and swap delivery dates at any time you wish. And there's so much customization on HelloFresh with the ability to add extra protein to your meals, add snacks onto your meals, and so much more. And for people like me, it's key to keeping us out of the supermarket. You can get 50% off your first box with HelloFresh and 20% off your next four boxes, as well as free treats for 3 months. What are you waiting for? In the description, pin comment of this video. Let's check out the rest of Richard's lakes now then Richard.
>> Yeah. So this one is Mayflower Pool again. My daughter named that one. And this is the one where we built the waterfall with >> Oh my goodness.
>> And we get it to run in a bit. Then this bridge, someone actually had that in their garden. So I had a wooden bridge here which was just straight. So we ended up getting this for free. We know we put it in and it's just a nice feature for the lake. So and then this is used a bit. I mean, there's some nice fish up to 30 lbs again, and it's just a nice place to be, especially for some of the youngsters. So, a lot of the juniors fish here. And then in here, what we done was just we wanted to in the winter just make sure that the air pumps and that don't freeze and we have good good heat of just making like a little greenhouse, but with the pumps in.
>> Oh, clever.
>> And then and then that warms the pipes.
And then what we done with the pipes is we run them around like an underlo heating. So then this one doesn't freeze in the winter. boiling in here.
>> I mean, it's like um a magical place because you sort of think in your mind, how can you >> if it's like a perfect thing having the different heights?
>> Yeah.
>> You know, if I didn't if it was all flat, I wouldn't be able to have the waterfalls. And of course, the waterfalls are creating oxygen.
>> Yeah.
>> So, everything's in my favor and it's Yeah, it's really, you know, lucky to have that really. You can hear it starting to go. Oh my gosh. And then this is all the big rocks. You imagine how big these were to put in. put all the the concrete in to hold them. And then this is where I say he was starting to tune them as they go down and tune the sound.
>> So we spoke about all the amazing things that's here. Yeah.
>> Your fishery management lodge, your other lodges, your lakeside huts with wisteria all on the front, your flipping magical waterfalls. It all sounds perfect. But is there also bad days to run in a place like this?
>> Yeah, I mean it's it's hard work and I think that you know just understanding this was my Redm recreation. So I built this lake to be a Redm recreation. It's almost exactly the same size. So 2 and 3/4 acres. I originally put 56 fish. So we spoke about passion for anglers the same. The problem was it got polluted and the fish started to die and it was heartbreaking for me. It's difficult talking about but I will but it was heartbreaking. So I'd built this this lake, spent probably five years and I'd bought fish at12 black mirrors. That's why it's black mirror port. got a lot of them to 30, 40, 50 pound and then they started dying and then we found them in the reeds here and I was like so what had happened was they were there was a pumping station up there and when you had lockdowns and different bits they were pumping the sewage in and in the end they've said that you know we have been polluting you but the legal case and I have uh angling trust helping me I'm now into year We're still at no agreement anywhere with that. The problem is is that when you have this dream of your own lake and what you want to do, I never really researched thinking of what was up there.
>> Yeah. Now, it has affected the little one through the waterfall slightly, but the rest of the lakes were fine. The only good thing out of it is I found a product that takes ammonia and sewage out of water and I was the first to have it in the UK.
It's been absolutely brilliant for us.
So we use it in here every 2 weeks. We use it actually across everything we do.
And what it does is like microenzymes that go out and they eat everything in the substrate, ammonia, everything. You know, this was my and it was this was called the view because my nan actually wrote a poem called the view which I found. So I called this the view and this was where I was working from. And I thought I'd retire here. That's what that's what I thought this is my sort of retirement. my own lake with 50 pound carp as my passion for angling. So even though you know you can see on the outside and people might think oh wow Richard you done where you got but the actual reality is the pollution in this country is ruining fishing. So yes it's not it's not nice and it wasn't nice for a bit but when you look at it you think bloody hell it's all fine you know I planted Norolk reeds cuz they're the best for anything for filtration. All these reads are put in. I actually redug the lake out um to take any lingering thing in. So hopefully now we should be okay, but it's just the court case is always there and it's pain in the ass.
You know, >> mate, look at your bridge over there.
>> Some bridges now.
>> You're going to have bridges. Beautiful.
Oh, the waterfall's going now.
>> Now, now a thing with the waterfall.
>> Yeah. Many people would have seen that I might I put a video up about a month ago which was my designs for Tererry's pool to go next to Kev's pool. This is before I ended up buying Long Lake.
>> But we think that the two are going to be similar to here on different heights in the field.
>> And there's going to be like a pinch point in by the pylon between the two legs >> and that is exactly where I've got the opportunity to build that waterfall. So this is the other side of King Fisher, the one with the stunning pump house on two swims on this one. It's only got a be what half an acre, but it's absolutely gorgeous.
>> Yeah. And this, you know, a lot of the the members fish this one as well. They really enjoy this one. What lake gave you the most inspiration growing up then to want to have a fishery like this?
Obviously Redmi did from a video perspective. What about one that you actually fished? So, I fished a little uh pond really in Lamberhurse called Cart Pool and that was next to the golf club and I always loved fishing there, but you had to go and knock on the owner's door. There's a little old lady and you knock on the she can I go fishing? Yes, you can. And also the little river in Lamber. So, I'd always go from school, go on my bike and fish for the pike under the bridge at home.
>> Tell me about your aation. Yeah. So we we had a aation system that come in from the top and then it obviously rotates the water and pushes the air in. The problem is with that it was drawing too much hot air so it was affecting the fish. So what I thought was we're going to go to and it was expensive is 800 watt. These are 150 watt. So big reduction in your cost.
>> They're pushing it up from the bottom.
And this from the research I've done, I'm no expert, but that is the best for ammonia and for carp. And since I've done this, I've hardly lost the fish.
The fish grow really well and it's not a lot to run.
So, where are we and why does this one matter to you? Because this isn't an RJ fishery, right? This is a village pond.
>> Yeah. I think that being local to here, I really wanted to help the pond because it had struggled over the years, built up a lot of silk, which you know, a lot of runoff. Originally, the ponds, we didn't actually know what it is for. We thought it might be for water for fire engines. Whereas over there, there's a so they used to come in here or army vehicles for washing in the time. So, to make it nice, I had to sort of think about how I can do it without taking the all the soil off site. Um, and what we did was we donated the work because we wanted locals to be able to fish and they couldn't really fish cuz the water was was so shallow. And we had a Prussian carp come in which was on the local news and on the BBC and they overtake this all the other fish and that's sort of an invasive species for the UK. Cuz something we haven't shown yet is back at Lily's Lake, the bit of land that you've got at the top, you've basically got all the machinery needed and things needed to be able to create your own lakes, restore lakes, and do everything, right?
>> And you put that together cuz you never know what project's going on anyway. So tell talk me through what was wrong with where we're stood >> and then where is it now?
>> Yeah. So what we're trying to do is obviously it's very very shallow had these invasive carp in there. So we was able to get them out and we worked with the EA to get that. Then we decided that we're going to sort of re landscape it.
So I' done lots of drawings at home and then John was on the machine. We put a drone up and we were just basically landscaping it and pushing the soil over to there. Make this island bigger. Push it into this bank. So we're stood now on almost like a bit of a damn wall, aren't we? Down here where this brick wall is.
>> Yeah.
>> And then what we got down this end of the lake? So you've got a Reedy Island.
>> Yeah. Yeah. So, what also was here, this was leaking. So, what we did was is we fixed all the the brick work in here.
Just almost repointed it all. And then we tidied up the outlet cuz that one had a bit of a leak as well. And then what we tried to do was push the soil up here.
>> Yeah, I see that. Cuz it's always losing it.
>> Just just here. Just in Oh, in the edges >> and then read it. So, then we're creating more of a barrier, >> more of a shelf as well. So, and then this was a wildlife area.
>> Has you said that >> there's wildlife there? But yeah, we made that area and then the plan we actually sloped that down cuz we was going to put like a duck house there. Um and then the liies are from my lake liies and then we planted them in different sections. Then we put bwash iris, some lovely um purple plants up there. And you you wouldn't think they're a gorgeous setting like that.
It's literally right next to the right next to the main road. But you've made this look how you'd want one of your fisheries to look.
>> Yeah, probably better. So, no, cuz obviously when it's not yours and you're putting your you almost do even more cuz you want people to see it and appreciate it, which you know they really do.
>> So, this is two of the actual swims by the look of it down here that you can actually here. But I think this is like that runoff that I said that maybe the vehicles come in down here into here.
And then I left this like this because of you know people's dogs go in and it's just it's easier that way. And then carried on the reads along here and this bank was not like this. We obviously pushed all this soil in and then as you know cuz it's very fertile the reads really grab hold. Um >> so did you have to lime the whole thing to redo it then? So the problem was it was really shallow. It was in disarray.
To be able to fish it properly you needed to get some depth. So you had to dig it all out, lime the whole thing again.
>> Limed it because of this problem with the fish, you know. So that was done.
But then I wouldn't put lime in here again because it will create a lot of weed and and then once you get weeded in here, it's a big problem. So what we did was is we used the the silk sort of chemical with the dye and that needs to be quite heavy for the first couple of years. And at first obviously it's like Pirates of the Caribbean. You know, people think, "Bloody hell, Richard, it's like being in Barbados." But you need it like that cuz if that weed takes hold, as you know, Ben, it's a bugger to get it out.
So, who fishes here? Tell us about who the fisherman is.
>> I guess this is the main thing really.
It's for the young people under 16 of Mattfield and Brent League. All I want to see is that first person catching their first fish. That's that's really the key of this. And so, >> we've seen Lilies.
>> Yeah.
>> We've seen Black Miracle. We've seen all the others on that site.
What's next?
I think we'd like a bigger sort of gravel pit, maybe sort of 20 acres plus.
>> So, that concludes our tour of RG Fisheries and this particular complex on RG Fisheries. It's been amazing to see what Richard has built over the years and put into what can only be described as one of the best fisheries in the UK with some of the biggest fish, some of the most amazing technology, buildings, and lakes that you could possibly hope to own. Thanks, guys. Guys, if you enjoyed this video, please make sure to subscribe to the channel and we'll catch you again
