[00:00:00]Can low vitamin D actually cause dementia? 60% [music] of the world's population is low in vitamin D, and this new study found that people with higher vitamin D levels in their 30s and 40s actually had lower levels of tau protein, one of the key markers of Alzheimer's disease, when they got older. But I'll tell you what I see in real life as a physician is low vitamin D super common in autoimmune patients and in my clients that come in for [music] wellness, and it often correlates with higher autoimmune antibodies that I've seen come down directly just with [music] vitamin D supplementation before we even got all the nutrition going. So, I have an issue with wellness influencers or even doctors that tell you that you don't need to supplement, that you can just go in the sun for 15 minutes. Number one, I have not seen that work to correct low levels of vitamin D. Number two, people with autoimmune disease are told not to go into the sun because you can be photosensitive and make your autoimmune disease worse. [music] Now, when it comes to dementia and preventing dementia, the best things that you can do is one, correct any nutritional deficiency like vitamin D or B12. Two, eat a nutrient-dense diet like a hyper-nourishing plant-based diet.

[00:01:07]Three, physical activity. Exercise has been shown to improve blood flow to the brain, brain size, [music] and memory. Maintain social connections, so important when it comes to people, especially as they get older. [music] And all of these things that I'm telling you will also help you prevent and reverse diseases that are associated with dementia like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, as well as autoimmune diseases. So, [music] listen, vitamin D is not the whole picture for brain health or immune healing, but it is foundational. So, get your levels checked, work with someone who knows how to correct it properly because [music] sometimes something this simple truly is the piece people are missing. I hope that helps.
