[00:01:21]I represent the National USA. Our organization is just one of the many organizations that makes up Eyes on Ice. We have been here for over a year helping the families come and see their loved ones inside and providing support to families and the people inside.

[00:01:42]We got a call uh around one.

[00:01:48]We started getting calls from 5 minutes the geo barge 40 out there who were coming from two of the units beating people with the cars and throwing chemical aid canisters into the hallway.

[00:02:03]The only thing they could do is retreat inside of their room. There is very little ventilation in that facility as it stands. And now they are treated to the the chemical agents and there is someone inside bleeding. We have called EMS. They said they would not respond.

[00:02:23]Uh so this is just a continuation of the brutality. The brutality that you've been all filming outside for for for these days now has always been inside that facility. It has always been our in our communities ever since ICE was founded. This is what ICE does. If you're asking why this is happening, this is what ICE does. This is not about public safety. This is not about law enforcement. This is not about enforcing immigration laws. This is about repressing our population, a population within our community. This is about brutalizing our neighbors, our neighbors who we love. That is why we have been here for a year. We are standing with the people inside. The people inside, while you have been covering what's going on outside, the people inside have been continuing their protest. They have been continuing to find creative ways to push back. They have been dealing with uh the conditions that happen because they are on a labor strike. All prisons need prison labor for run. This is no exception. There is no laundry. There is no clean bathroom. There is no There's there are no uh there are no plates.

[00:03:37]They have they have what has happened is that the director of the facility was forced to clean the plates themselves yesterday after the before the uh before the congress people came through. And that was what one little bit of but what is happening here guys is what you should be focusing on. We have a new letter. This is the third letter. These people are buying house and the organizing inside this facility is extraordinary.

[00:04:07]Extraordinary. They are mobilizing peacefully and triumphant and without really catching on for months now across units.

[00:04:22]These are units that are segregated.

[00:04:24]They are doing this across units and they are getting out to here and and they they are organizing outside too.

[00:04:32]That's what happened on Friday. Friday is when this all started. It didn't start when the code for soda. It started actually started back in January that he knew about. Right. That was when the first letter came out. The first letter came out in January and nobody paid attention. The second letter came out a month. Almost a month ago, right? almost a month ago and nobody's paid attention.

[00:04:55]And now we have a third letter. They have been crying for help and no one has been listening.

[00:06:44]It's infuriating to see him die inside when these ICE agents are teargassing indiscriminately against people who are exercising their constitutional right.

[00:07:44]It is a damn saying that people are having faith in them and that they refuse to show up to something that they refuse to put their bodies on the line when they are doing the most to inform us to let us know because it didn't start as a hunger strike. It started as letters. It started as a call for help that went ignored.

[00:09:26]This is the phone number that they call from inside. It was 1:35 when my husband called me screaming and all of the guys in there screaming because they were getting hit. The guys, all the the detention people lifted up their hands to not do the same thing as they were doing. All the issue was because they want to take away the guy that's translating for them in English cuz they most of them don't read or speak English. So this kind gentleman that is detained this good trans um translates what they want to tell them. So now they want to take them away. So they don't have no idea what's going on there. So they just went in and started to gas um and started to put in um throw uh gas on them. Yeah, they were um he was barely breathing. He just said, "Honey, they're they're hitting us." And he everyone was screaming help inside. After that call, he called me again. It was 3 minutes ago. He calls me again to let me know that now they're cleaning the blood and everything that's in the room and on the floor because they know they messed up.

[00:10:29]They know they messed up. They hit my husband on the chest and tried to do every to everyone. They just started to hit everyone in there just so they could get out of the way. And but thankfully the detainees did not respond because they don't want problems. They're not they don't they they're not criminals.

[00:10:46]They just want rights. They just want to be um to be healed. They're not treating them correctly in there and they know they messed up. That's why they're cleaning. If they go in now, if a senator goes in now, they're going to smell the Clorox they're using, the soap they're using cuz they're cleaning. They should be going inside now. Right now.

[00:11:06]They went in the other days, but it wasn't dirty because they cleaned up.

[00:11:09]Nobody detainees wanted to clean and they let the people that work there clean. And then and the the people that work there used Clorax and everything to clean. Oh, because the the senator was going to come in. But when they have to clean, the days that the the detainees clean, they don't get provided with with um soap or with um fluo to to clean um the stuff up. Oh, but when the senators goes in, oh, everything has to be nice and tidy and clean. Now, they're cleaning the blood. There's people in there that hurt. There's a lot of people in there. I I um um I have friends telling me that their families in there are bleeding and that are hurt inside.

So we we expect that we will have more families showing up here. Some of them come from a considerable distance. So they will be showing up at uh I expect at all times.

[00:21:07]But I do want to uplift uplift that demand. The demand that doctors come.

[00:21:13]There are no doctors inside there. They never see a doctor. They're lucky if they see a nurse. They don't get medicine. They don't get they don't get treatment. They don't get they don't get anything. They get Tylenol. They're lucky.

[00:21:28]>> So, we want doctors to go in, not go staff doctors, not DHS doctors. We have how many hospitals? We have plenty of doctors who can respond here right now to check out everybody inside. And if my eyes are burning and your eyes are burning, think about what's happening to them inside. Think about that. And they are closing rooms.

[00:22:02]There are there are there are elderly people in there. There are people with all kinds of medical conditions that have not been getting treatment. There are people who have been a hunger strike. There are people have who have been in there for a year now who have not gotten proper medical care or proper nutrition. They are in a weakened state.

[00:22:21]I had an attorney tell me today they could not believe how much the physical condition of their client deteriorated in two to three weeks. This place is a meat grinder. It is meant to grind people up for dollars and cents for that facility and for the white supremacist ideals of our current administration.

[00:22:45]So, I am going to ask the clergy to come up and say a prayer for the people inside.

[00:23:56]Lord Jesus, you said in a sermon on the mount when you yourself was detained by the Roman Empire, you said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness because they will be filled." There are people being detained right now.

[00:24:22]Our siblings, our own brothers and sisters, >> abuelos and abuelas are all in there. They are our own being detained and they are hungry and thirsty God and doing so fighting for their rights, fighting for their dignity.

[00:24:46]And Jesus, we know that they will be filled. May you fill them, God, right now with your courage and with your strength.

[00:24:55]God, surround them with your comfort right now that they may feel that you are standing alongside them because you too were lynched on the cross. That you too feel their pain and you will not abandon them.

[00:25:12]May they feel your presence fill that place. And may your strength and your spirit permeate out of those walls and into the spirit of every officer that is standing outside right now into the cold hearts of our representatives who are silent.

[00:25:32]into the hard parts of our administration who is silent, who are enforcing laws and policies that are taking from the rights and dignity of people who are the image of God, who are God's children.

[00:25:53]Break their hearts that they may see love and what love looks like.

[00:26:02]So that doctors can come in and take care of those who are hurt.

[00:26:07]So that those who are suffering know that they are not suffering in vain.

[00:26:30]So, I just asked them to come up because I want you to see what this was the last park project that we were able to do with the children before all visitation was shut off. This area here has been a sanctuary, has been a safe space for the visitors who are coming, the visitors who who come in the hundreds uh hundreds every single visiting day to visit their loved ones no matter what, no matter rain, no matter snow. And now they can't come.

[00:27:08]And even when they were forced to stand in the middle of that driveway for hours and hours, they would still come and stand here. Even when there was a thunder and lightning storm and they were and they were lined up along a metal fence, they stayed on that fence because they wanted to get in to see their loved ones. That is how strong the bonds of love are. But it is also an example of the cruelty of the facility and the system. It is the entire system.

[00:27:43]Cruelty is the point. They are trying to steal people's hope. They are trying to get them to give up and go back to their birth countries to give up everything that they have built here to give up the ties that their children and their spouses have to this country. to everything that they have built here.

[00:28:06]They are trying to get us to give them a >> church.

[00:28:13]They contribute to our churches, to our schools, to our soccer teams, to our to to our civic organizations.

[00:28:22]They are part of the fabric of our communities. We are all suffering right now because thousands of our brothers and sisters, our siblings have been taken from us.

[00:28:34]We are feeling those effects emotionally.

[00:28:38]We are feeling those effects. We will and we will feel those effects from people who care about this. We will feel those effects in our economy too.

[00:28:48]This translates to a more sunny day.

[00:28:55]love and solidarity and that is what we are showing here.

[00:29:00]That is what we have been showing here for over a year.

[00:29:06]Those bonds between the people who have volunteered here, the people have supported this and the people who have been impacted will not be broken by this by this repression. It will not be be broken by these walls.

[00:29:24]The love of these families gets through those walls. The love of the community gets through those walls. And our messages go back and forth. And there is nothing there is nothing that this administration can do about that.
