[00:00:07]Hey, how's it going? Welcome back to the channel today's puzzle.

[00:00:10]Now, this will be the second puzzle we've done by Blue Toast 001.

[00:00:15]We had done their first puzzle, I think last week or earlier this week. Can't remember to be honest with you. My brain is a little befuddled right now, but it was a really good puzzle. Really enjoyed it.

[00:00:26]They also have this one and multiple other puzzles they published, but this was a fog puzzle, so I thought it'd be a great one to do. It's actually it's called the foggy escape room, so it sounds even more fun and more interesting. So, we're going to give it a look-see, see what's going on, and we'll go from there. So, foggy escape room, again Blue Toast 001.

[00:00:44]Let's look at the rules. Normal Sudoku, so every row, column, and 3 by 3 box will contain the digits 1 through 9 once each.

[00:00:51]We have crop keys, so digits separated by white dots are consecutive, i.e. these two and these two.

[00:00:57]Digits separated by black dots indicate one digit double the other, i.e. these two.

[00:01:02]And then not all possible dots are shown.

[00:01:05]Then we've got killer cages, so digits in killer cages sum to the number in the top left corner. Digits may not repeat within a cage, so these two add to eight, these two add to seven, obviously without any repetition in those.

[00:01:16]Then we have thermometers. Digits on thermos increase from bulb to tip. This is the bulb, this is the tip. This will be the lower digit, this will be the higher digit. We don't We know there's a thermo coming in here, but we don't know where the bulb or the tip is yet, so we don't know what organization that has.

[00:01:30]And then finally we have fog.

[00:01:32]Placing correct digits clears fog in that cell and may clear another cell.

[00:01:36]So, this looks like it's dynamic fog.

[00:01:38]So, we're going to figure out what this digit is, maybe these will clear. Don't know. Just depends, excuse me, on how the setter has put put it all together.

[00:02:08]I think we need to start thinking about what are some of the options that we have given.

[00:02:13]So let's start doing that.

[00:02:15]Now, you obviously won't be a one.

[00:02:19]And there's going to be a restriction probably there about can this ever be a one two period?

[00:02:26]>> [snorts] >> Um cuz what would happen to the seven and the eight, I guess?

[00:02:33]If we were to put a one and a two here we have to force the seven to be a three four and there's nothing to do for the eight. So there's a no go on the one two right away.

[00:02:43]What about the two four?

[00:02:46]Cuz if we put a two four, it forces the seven to be a one six.

[00:02:53]That would actually work though. So we can make the eight a three five.

[00:02:59]The only [snorts] pro No, I guess that still works cuz we also have this set of Kropkis here.

[00:03:07]Which obviously we're not going to be able to put a one two three here if we can't put a one two here.

[00:03:13]This is never going to be a one on eight here. So one of these will have a one on it.

[00:03:19]So the seven's either a one six or the eight's either a one seven.

[00:03:24]Eh, do I like that?

[00:03:28]I'm not sure I do. There's got to be some other more obvious deduction here.

[00:03:34]What would that be? Or where does a nine go? Let's start there. That is the obvious thing to do.

[00:03:45]Can't put a nine in any of these positions. The nine goes on the white Kropki. This is a nine eight seven.

[00:03:51]So one of these will be nine, one of these will be seven, you will be eight.

[00:03:55]So, you cannot have an eight on you.

[00:03:58]Okay. [snorts] So, now we know the one we said previously is either going to be a 1 7 on the eight or a 1 6. Can't be 1 7 8, so it is going to be a 1 6. You have to be the one.

[00:04:12]Now, this cannot be a 3 6 anymore.

[00:04:16]And this will just be a 3 5.

[00:04:19]Now, I don't know if we can say much about that, but we can get over to these other digits that we now have cuz this has to be a 1 2 3. It's a six cage.

[00:04:27]That's a 1 2 4 looking at it, so this is our three. This will be our 1 2.

[00:04:33]You cannot have a 3 6 and you can't be a 2 4. Now, you could be a 1 2 or a 4 8, though.

[00:04:50]Now, what does that tell me? Let's start thinking from there.

[00:04:56]Uh good question. One of these will have to be a one.

[00:05:05]Cuz [snorts] what happens if you're a two?

[00:05:11]You would have to be the one, I guess.

[00:05:16]But that won't work, either. Yeah, this can't ever be a two.

[00:05:19]Cuz [snorts] what happens if I put a a two here?

[00:05:22]The options are I put a one and I have to put a one in either one of these positions, right?

[00:05:27]If I put it here, I put a four here.

[00:05:40]Which means you can't be a one.

[00:05:43]Now, [clears throat] we know there is a four here. It's either 2 4 or 4 8, so you have to be the two and the four.

[00:06:04]Cuz of the three and the five, we can't pair with any You are eight. You're not You are four. No.

[00:06:13]Which means you have to either be a seven or a nine. Okay.

[00:06:18]Good. Let's go over to here. Let's start thinking about what these are. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 No. No three.

[00:06:30]Now we can go to three.

[00:06:32]Just three. Can't be four. We're not going to be able to go to five, six, seven, eight, nine again.

[00:06:43]And seven eight.

[00:06:46]And those are our options.

[00:06:49]The two will come over and give us the one and the two though.

[00:07:07]You are either going to be a six seven or a seven eight, so I guess that does mean there's a seven here no matter what. So you are nine.

[00:07:18]Didn't even notice that for a second. So we have a value here.

[00:07:24]If that's the case, we need eight more to get to 45. So you're eight.

[00:07:39]I mean, there's some markings we can do here, obviously, but Well, I guess let's just look at them.

[00:07:46]It has four, five, six, sevens, and nines. You obviously can't be nines. You can't be a four.

[00:07:55]Does that tell me anything?

[00:07:59]I don't know that it really does.

[00:08:05]I guess it means we know Okay, it does tell something. We just didn't need to put all the stuff in, but one of these is the nine, so you are the seven and the nine.

[00:08:15]Uh that does remove the sevens from here and pushes it over to here, which pushes this to be the eight. So, you are the seven.

[00:08:23]Okay, now we get this going on, and this is still not determined, but All right. Let's start looking at what these can be.

[00:08:37]That's a three-five pair.

[00:08:39]We just know what this is. It has to be one, cuz it has to be less than three or five, and it can't be two, three, four, or five.

[00:08:48]Now, you are just a seven-six, so you will be the seven, you will be the six, which means you can't be a five anymore, cuz this would have to be a five and a half.

[00:08:58]So, you are the three and the five.

[00:09:00]You have to be a four or a five. We'll leave that there. Let's go to our 21 cage.

[00:09:24]So, the other two digits are either going to be a Well, they're just going to be a seven-five. It's the only way you can do it. Hello, nine-seven-five. You are six.

[00:09:39]This has to be the only place a seven can go and this will be a 459. Okay, good. Now start putting these options and then we see what this crop here does for us.

[00:11:53]We can do that. You are five. No, not both of you, just you.

[00:12:01]So, that will give us a couple of two, three pairs, which might come in very handy for this new crop we just got opened up.

[00:12:07]So, let's think about what this can be.

[00:12:10]Let's start from this Well, do I start from you or from you?

[00:12:14]Cuz you are limited more so than this one, I think. So, what can you be? We can't be a one, cuz this would have to be a two. We just said we can't put a a one, two. So, it's not one, it's not two, three, four, five or six. It's also not seven, so you're eight or nine.

[00:12:28]Which forces you to be either eight or seven, and you to then be either seven or six, but the seven will say you are eight. So, you are nine, you are seven.

[00:12:40]That opens this up now. You can't be a two, cuz we can't put a one or four here, so you will be our three. You will be the six. That's going to open everything up now. Three, two, and we should just be able to roll through our Sudoku. So, fine little intro here on this one.

[00:13:01]Uh, we can now figure out what this is, cuz this has to just be a five, which means you are the six and the four.

[00:13:07]That'll give us the one.

[00:13:10]Not one. The two, three and six, seven don't quite clue over.

[00:13:20]All right, let's just do Sudoku, cuz that's all we got left over, I guess.

[00:13:31]Okay, these will be an 8 9 Oh, no, no, well, this will be the eight. You will be the nine. You will be a given seven, which gives us the nine. No nines.

[00:13:55]Those both look like they could still work, so let's keep moving down our Sudoku. 6 7 and 9.

[00:14:05]So, you're seven and six. You are nine.

[00:14:07]That will come back and give us the six and the nine.

[00:14:11]You can't be one or six, so you are two.

[00:14:44]Fun puzzle. Um, obviously not very difficult, um, but just a fun nice bit of logic.

[00:14:50]It took me a second to see that nine.

[00:14:52]It's really obvious that you couldn't put a nine in any of these positions, but once I got moving, >> [laughter] >> got the brain juices flowing, everything kind of worked well. I mean, once you got to a certain point, something else opened up. I didn't even notice that this was an eight cage up here, to be honest with you. I think that's kind of cute funny. Uh, but every clue just kept coming on and kept giving us the next step to progress, and so wonderful fog of war puzzle. Really enjoyed it. Hope you all did as well.
