Sustainability, defined as meeting present needs without compromising future generations' ability to meet their own needs, is built on three pillars: environmental protection, economic development, and social responsibility. While the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a global roadmap, significant barriers prevent full implementation, including economic priorities favoring short-term profit over long-term environmental health, fossil fuel dependency, rapid industrialization, limited global cooperation, and weak policy enforcement. Despite progress in areas like renewable energy adoption and clean technology investment, sustainability remains more of a vision than a complete reality, requiring collective action from governments, industries, communities, and especially youth to transform aspirations into tangible outcomes.

It's my privilege to welcome you all to IEN and save club youth action forum 2025 organized in association with institution of green engineers. A thoughtprovoking theme with sustainability a vision or reality.
Today's forum is not just another discussion platform. It is a reflection of how youth voices can shape a sustainable future through awareness, innovation, leadership, and responsible action. We are gathered here with passionate end speakers, student leaders, office beers, and change makers who are ready to share their perspectives on one of the most important global concerns of our time.
As highlighted in the recent United Nations sustainable development goals report 2025, the world continues to face major challenges related to climate change, environmental degradation, energy sustainability, poverty and global inequality.
The report emphasizes that progress towards achieving the STG by 2030 is slowing down in many sectors making youth participation, collaborative action and more important than ever before. This is exactly where platforms like NCU clubs becomes meaningful through sustainability initiatives, youth forums, environmental awareness, STG center discussion, innovation activities, environmental awareness program. IGN continues to empower students to become responsible leaders and active contributors towards global sustainability.
Today's session will bring together diverse opinions and insightful discussion on whether sustainability remains only a vision or if it's truly becoming a reality through collective action and youth leadership. I request everyone to actively listen, engage and support our student speakers as they share their valuable ideas and perspectives. Let this forum inspire us to move beyond conversation and become individual who create real impact for society and environment. Thank you all and let us begin this meaningful session. Ladies and gentlemen, to begin up this beautiful occasion, it's my pleasure and privilege to invite our first presenting speaker from Rolex Institute of Technology, Miss Zuba Anjim to take forward the session.
>> So good evening everyone. I am Zuvea Anjum from Raj Lakshmi Institute of Technology. Today I'm here about to something powerful sustainability is no longer just a dream or a distant goal.
It is happening right now all around us.
My presentation today is titled sustainability a reality and I hope to show you exactly why. Let us start with what sustainability actually means today. It is no longer just a quote from a textbook. It stands on three pillars.
First environmental, second economic and third social. And all three are actually being worked on by 193 countries under the United Nations 2030 agenda. The 17 sustainable development goals are our global road map and real progress is being tracked every single year.
Now let me show you proof. Solar energy costs have dropped by 90% in just one decade. Over thousand cities worldwide have committed to 100% clean energy. The Great Green Wall in Africa has restored 18 million hectares of land and 2.1 billion people have gained access to clean water since the year 2000. These are not promises, these are facts.
Sustainability is not waiting for tomorrow. The European Union is already diverting 70% of waste from landfills.
Over $750 billion was invested in clean technology in 2023 alone.
196 nations have signed the Paris agreement and more than 9,000 companies like including Apple, Microsoft, IKA are already on verified net zero pathways.
This is happening today.
If you need numbers to believe it, here they are. 30% of global electricity now comes from renewables. Over 1 billion trees have been planted in 5 years. The UK cuts its emissions by 4 to 6% while still growing its economy. And for the first time in history, clean energy investment overtook fossil fuel investment in 2023. The data speaks for itself.
Who is making this happen? It is the youth. 14 million people across 7,500 cities have marched for climate change.
It is communicate communities running zerowaste towns and urban farms. It is innovators developing green hydrogen and AI powered energy grids. And it is everyday people choosing sustainable lifestyles. The resale economy alone will reach $350 billion by 2027.
Change is coming from every direction.
So let me leave you with this.
Sustainability is not just optional and it is not distant. It is already being built city by city, company by company, person by person. Each of us have a role to play with the 17 SDG 17 SDG goals as our road map and collective will as our engine. A greener fairer world is not just possible, it is already underway.
Thank you so much.
Great. There is perfect pitch from uh your end zedu.
Thank you sir.
>> Because it says that data speaks and you have denoted that implementation of 193 countries about sustainable development policies as per the United Nations 2030 agenda and the inclusion of solar energy uh which is implemented in 100 plus cities.
That was a wonderful uh presentation from your end Suvea Anju.
>> Thank you sir.
Ladies and gentlemen, as we move on to the continuation of this beautiful occasion, it's my pleasure and privilege to express and welcome our next presenting speaker.
He's currently representing as the chairman of St. Joseph Institute of Technology.
Please put your watch your hands together and welcome Mr. SJ Kushn.
>> Uh thank you Davis for your wonderful introduction. Good evening to respected dignitaries and fellow participants.
Today sustainability has become one of the most spoken words in the world.
Every nation speaks about clean energy.
Every corporation promotes eco-friendly products. Every conference discuss climatic responsibility. But despite of all these promises, our planet continues to suffer. So today I stand before you to present a critical question. Is sustainability as truly a reality? Are it still just a beautiful vision humanity has failed to achieve? In my perspective, sustainability today remains far more than of vision than a complete reality.
Sustainability means meeting present needs without destying the future needs of upcoming generation.
It's built on three pillar as previous speaker of pointed out it clearly such as environmental production, economic development and social responsibility.
The nation nation introduced 17 STG goals to create a better world by 2030.
However, setting goal is easy. Implement them consistently is their world is failing every single year. Next slide please.
Next slide. Uh every year more than 8 billion tons of plastics enter our ocean. Global temperature continues to rise. Millions of extraar of forest annually destroys and billions of people still lack of safe drinking water.
Is sustainability truly reality?
Would our oceans still be polluted?
This slide has clearly shown uh on the right right side has shown that uh what we promises but what we does. Countries announce net commitments yet fossil fuels dominates global energy systems. Cooperation adise sustainability but many industries continue to prioritizing profit over the planet.
Environmental policies exist on purpose but enforcement remains weak. Sustainity today often exists more in speeches than in systems. If sustainity were true reality, we would not be still debating on basic climate action in 2026.
Next slide, please.
However, this does not mean sustainity is impossible. The world has the technology, innovation and knowledge needs for a change. Renewable energy, green technology, circular economy, sustainable engineering, responsible consumption and youth innovation plays a vital role in transforming our society.
Next slide.
The responsibility in love lies with our generation. Young peoples are not only future leaders. We are a generation accepted to repair the consequence of present decision. Small actions by millions of people can create a global transformation. The future depends on whether we continue discussing sustainability or we finally begin living it.
Next slide please.
To conclude with sustainability is not yet a complete reality. It remains a global vision the world is still struggling to achieve. And unless government, industries and individuals move from the promise to action, future generation will inherit consequence instead of solutions. Finally, the future will not ask how beautifully we spoke about sustenity. It will ask what we truly change. Thank you for providing me such a wonderful opportunity. I would like to express my thankfulness to Dr. Raiser as well as Ajin Davies for providing such a wonderful opportunity. Thank you.
>> All right, that was a wonderful presentation from your end Mr. SJ Krishna who is representing as the chairman of St. Joseph Institute of Technology Chennai. You have concluded that sustainability is not about saving nature, it is about saving humanity.
That was a very wonderful implementation of this speech. Gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, >> thank you.
>> Moving ahead of this beautiful occasion, may I please invite our next presenting speaker from St. Joseph College of Engineering, Chennai, Miss Sanchana L to take forward the session with the presentation.
>> Yeah, thank you so much. So yeah very good evening to one and all present here. Uh a thanks to all the origin and all the coordinator members of this wonderful event for initiating such a event to come up with the student rea to speak about the sustainability. So thanks first of all for this wonderful opportunity. So today I'm here to speak that sustainability still a vision not came to the reality. So you all be will be surprised why this girl is telling sustainability is still a vision because uh the sustainability is something which is not uh we need to do quickly or we need to do quickly something to the future generation but it is something we are giving to the future generation to carry with them for their long life. You all think the 17 SG goals are came and we all are following. Why? Uh still we are seeing its vision. Although it is introduced by United Nation in 2015 as a global framework, not all countries are progressively equal. Uh let's me take like the girl first presented she told like 193 countries are following this code. Let's think how India is following it and how Afghanistan is following it.
So which is something the countries are not following in the equal manner but they are trying their best to follow it.
So when we come to this side uh STGS are not a shared goal but it is implementation still uneven. This is what I feel when we talking about the sustainability. So as a youth we need to fix this challenge and connect with the global leaders or the global persons from across the country who are not aware of 17 SDG. As my point of view as a Indian we all know we are moving towards the sustainable development the projects we are doing as a students as a mentor they are guiding our projects and even the nation even our prime minister or chief minister of all the respected states of our country also trying to implement sustainable development goals in all forms but just think about other countries they're not yet came to that much level. So sustainability is still a vision because it is not evenly distributed to all over the world which is uneven. So we need to fix it. Coming to our next point, what are the real world environmental issue we are facing?
We are facing so many climate changes, so many pollutions, deforestation, resource depletion. You all think that's why sustainable development goals are game. We need to implement it and we all to uh resolve it. But just think before implementing an a particular sustainable development goal we should fix we must stop producing these kind of environment reality. How? Just take a pollution.
There are so many pollution appolution water pollution. Before thinking about clean water goal just think while you are going to an lake you are having some snack some jut which is present inside a plastic container. You do not throw the plastic container inside the lake for a joke or for a funny reason. you should put that in a particular dust. This is also a small initiative can be taken by all the SDG warrior we are presenting here today. This can make the achieving the goal which I previously mentioned clean water and sanitation. So the changes should be come from us. So that's why I'm telling still it is in the reality mode not it it is in vision mode because due to this kind of silly things which is done by us also today in this developing Indian country. Coming to the another point why sustainability remains a vision again having having some points to tell there are four important things we need to think the lack of implementation which I mentioned previously and industrial impacts are so many things the industries are not yet following they are producing so many pollution they are not providing clean water they are giving so many dust allergies to the world so the industries also need to focus on sustainable development goal not only on the papers on the implementation as well and the Just point is the third one public awareness gap. As a student we know the importance of sustainable development goal but just think about our family members whether they know what is 17 goals or whether they are aware about what is the sustainable development goal. So as a student or as a community of this wonderful IN people who are in rural as well as the urban to tell why we need sustainable development what it is going to give to the future generation. So these are the implementation gap and public awareness gap still making the sustainable development or sustainability as a vision not a reality and the fourth one is the commonant we all know the global environmental concerns due to finance and so many things. So one of the key note we can take away from this slide is vision without execution is merely aspiration. This is the quote we all should keep in our mind. The SDG needs action not just acknowledgement. That's why I told even the industries also need to overcome the sustainable development not only in paper and coming to the implementation. Okay. Just think what are all the roadblocks for our sustainable future. There are four main things in my point of view. The first one is economic priorities. Yeah. Which is across India across the world we are facing it. And second one is fossil fuel dependency. Something making it is difficult to implement it. And third one is the waste generation. And the fourth one is limited global cooperation. So everything is again coming under that unequal distribution the air pollution or other pollution and industry implementation gap and the awareness along with it. Okay. So what is the power of youth as a community? What we can give? We can give a lot but just go through some of the key thing youth leadership. As a youth leadership community we can teach the people as a community. we can combine along with the so many committees like SDG you know so many committees are there we can participate with the community third one is creating awareness and innovation through these kind of talks or interacting with the people through the non-governmental organization visit so many kind of activity via college also we can do and the sustainable lifestyle should be followed by the youth community first from ourselves then one action from the one youth can change the whole nation so The steps should be taken from our side. The next one is innovating towards a sustainable tomorrow. We all still thinking sustainability is the vision. Then how can we make it as a reality? That's what we need to take away from this point.
The renewable energy sources we need to extend it and we need to use it. Second one is keeping the proper circular economy. Third one is adapting to the green technology even in this rapidly growing artificial intelligence era. And fourth one is giving the solution as a engineer in the natural based manner.
Not only thinking about any economy or any something affordable kind even the nature can give affordable one we need to think about it. So giving a solution nature based is also one of our vision.
So coming to uh the last point what is my vision what sustainability to become a reality. keep awareness, keep advocacy, keep the action active till it is becoming a reality and keeping the impact among all the youth and all the people all over the world. So these are the shared responsibility as a future we all have to do it think globally act locally hold leaders accountability and invest in the next generation. So thank you for your time to listening to me. As a youth, we can do so many changes to our nation. Let's learn and stay informed about the sustainable development goal. Connect with all the sustainable activities and even one act can give so many changes. So thank you for hearing me. Thank you all. Thank you for the opportunity.
>> Thank you so much Sanchchana. It was wonderful presentation where you take about the environment reality talking about climate action, pollution, deforestation, resource depletion and you were pointing about why sustainability remains still as a vision, lack of implementation, industrialization impacts, then global environment uh environmental concerns and you talked about what India is according to each and every STG. So I would say that when you're talking about literacy rate, Australia and New Zealand stand top and along with Finland as well. So Finland has 100 percentage of literacy rate whereas Australia and New Zealand has 99 percentage of literacy rate. Whereas the question is what about India? Let's discuss.
Ladies and gentlemen, our next speaker, ladies and gentlemen, our next representing speaker will be Mr. Madan Prasana from M College of Engineering and Technology.
The stage is all yours gentlemen.
I repeat and request Mr. Madan Prasana, Secretary of Mam College of Engineering and Technology to pitch your presentation. One minute one minute, sir. One minute.
protection. Please stop sharing the screen.
>> Ladies and gentlemen, moving on to the next speaker. I would like to invite Mr. Aravvin from Stella Mary's College of Engineering to pitch his presentation.
Do we have Mr. Arain from Stella Mary's College of Engineering?
I repeat and request Mr. Arain from Stella Mary's College of Engineering to pitch his presentation.
Lis, I'm here.
>> Yes, please.
>> Yeah. Production crew.
Can I start device?
>> Please present.
>> Okay. Good evening everyone. I am Aravind chairman of NI club from Salam College of Engineering. Today I am here to talk about the most discussed topic of our decade, sustainability. But I'm here to tell you why sustainability is currently just a vision and what we must do to make it to our reality.
Let's start with the basics. What is sustainability? It means fulfilling our current needs without stealing the resources of future generation. In 2015, the UN established the 17 STGS as a blueprint for global peace. However, we all know these goals by art. Translating them from slide into our daily engineering and economic realities is where the actual challenge lies.
Let's look at the reality outside this meeting. We are facing three massive roadblocks.
First one is climate change. Fossil fuels continues to drive global warming leading to extreme weather. Second one is pollution. As a tech students, we must acknowledge the growing of e-waste which is highly toxic for our environment.
The third one is resource depletion. Our forest and natural minerals are being stripped away faster than the earth can heal itself.
So this brings to the main argument. Why is sustainability still a vision?
Because of two major illusions.
The first is green washing. Many corporations use eco-friendly labels purely for marketing without making real changes to their carbon carbon footprints. Second is the industrialization paradox. We proudly drive EVs and use smart techch.
But the power grids charging them are still burning coals. Until our source energy is fully renewable, we are just moving the pollution from exhaust pipe to the power plant.
So what are the barriers we are facing?
What is stopping us? The answer is simple. Money. Sustainable tech like solar panel and EVs have high inial cost making them a luxury for a rich rather than a reality for the common man.
Additionally, our global infrastructure is heavily addicted to fossil fuel. Our use and culture generates unmanageable waste and frankly global cooperation is weak when economic profits are on the line.
to design accessible green tech that is not luxury. And finally, it requires every single one of us to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.
To conclude, admitting that sustainability is a vision is not a sign of failure. It is a reality check, it reminds us that putting a green label on something is not enough. The work has just beun. As future engineers and leaders, turning this vision into a reality is our ultimate responsibility.
Thank you all.
Thank you so much Mr. Arvin from Stella's College of Engineering. Your presentation was good the data and all the things that you have informed.
Ladies and gentlemen, may we please invite the representing speaker of MAM College of Engineering and Technology Mr. Madan Prasana to present his views about sustainability a vision or reality.
Stage is all yours gentlemen.
Yes, clear.
>> Good evening everybody.
>> Please could you please come with your video?
>> Yes.
>> Perfect.
>> Good evening everyone. I'm very happy to present my topic sustainability amition.
Uh I'm Adan Prasana from MAM College of Engineering Technology Priti. Today we'll about speak about sustainability, environment changes, barrier to development and how we can build a sustainable future together. Next slide.
First let us understand what sustainability means. The sustainability means meeting the needs of the present without affecting the ability of future generation to meet the needs. It mainly focus on the three pillars. First one environmental sustainability. Second one is social. Third one is the economic sustainability. The United Nations introduced 17 sustainable development goals also called STG in 2015. These goal focus on ending poverty protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all people by 2030.
Today, today the world is facing many environmental changes. The first challenge is climate change. The global temperature have increased more than 1.2°C causing floods and extreme weather conditions.
The second challenge is pollution.
Millions of peoples are affected every year because of air, water and soil emission. Another major issue is deforestation. Large forest areas are destroyed every year which affects the biodiversity and increase gold global warming. Finally, we are overusing the natural resources. Uh humanity is consuming resource faster than can regenerate them. Next slide. Uh why sustainability is still a vision? Even though many countries discuss sustainability, it is still only a vision in many places. One reason is lack of implementation. Uh policies exist but practically action is often slow. Next one the rapid industation also increase the pollution and resource consumption. The another issue is lack of public. Many people still do not one minute please. J can we move to the app slide please Janesh >> is this >> he's presenting slide three I guess. Am I right mad? Four. Four sir. Four. Slide four please. H four.
J you can stop sharing because we could see only first slide is being presented here so that John will be sharing. Oh, >> please continue.
>> Fourth lesson.
>> Yes. The another slide four, John.
>> Yes.
The another issue is lack of public awareness. Many people still do not fully understand what is sustainability or how to contribute. The global environment problem require cooperation among countries but international coordination is still limited. Next sl next barriers to sustainable development.
There are several barriers preventing sustainable development. Economic priorities are one major barrier. Many organ organization focus on short-term investment or profit instead of the long-term environmental production.
Another issue is fossil fuel dependency.
Most countries still depend heavy on coal, oil and gas for energy. Now our India is also focus only the petrol diesel not any bio gas.
So next one generation is also increased rapid across the world. Finally, limited global cooperation make it difficult to achieve a sustainability goal efficiency. Next slide.
Next. Next. A need for collective responsibility sustainability. Collective responsibility is very important. Youth plays the youth plays a major role in creating awareness and bringing innovative ideas. Community participation is also essential because local actions create global impact. And next, educational technology and innovation can help to develop sustainable solutions. Most importantly, every individual must adopt sustainable lifestyles by reducing waste, saving energies and protecting natures. Last next. Next. To conclude, sustainability is not optional. It is our shared responsibility. Every individual, community and nation has an important role to play. Innovation, education and cooperation as the key to the future of our planet depend on the choice we make today. Thank you everyone. Thank you for this opportunity. Thank you agent. Thank you.
Thank you so much Mr. Madan Prasana to build a sustainable future.
Sustainability is not an option. It is a collective responsibility. So every individual, community and nation has a vital role to play. Innovation, education and cooperation are greatest tool. So that was a wonderful conclusion from your end Mr. Matan Pras.
>> Thanks.
>> Yes. Thank you ladies and gentlemen.
Ladies and gentlemen, our next presenting speaker is from Dr. MGR Educational Research and In Research Institute who is representing as the joint secretary of MGR STG club, Mr. Muhammad Arif. The stage is all yours gentlemen.
>> Yeah.
Wait a minute.
Good evening everyone. My name is Mouhammad A and today I want to talk about something that affect all of us.
Sustainability and where we truly stand. Next slide please.
Okay. Sustainability simply means living today without destroying tomorrow. It has three pillars. Protecting the environment, ensuring social fairness, and building an economy that doesn't cost us the planet. Next slide.
In 2015, the United Nations launched 17 global goals covering poverty, crime, education, and law. The deadline is 23rd. just a few years away and we are far behind.
Next, please.
Why sustainability remains unrealized?
Because there's a gap between promises and action. Policies exist but are enforced. Industries keeping many people lack awareness and countries still refuse to cooperate on shared problems.
Next.
Environmental challenges we face, climate change, pollution, deforestation and resource deficient are not future threats. They are happening right now.
Barriers to sustainable development.
Many government and companies still prioritize economic growth over environmental health. Our energy system is locked into fossil fuels. We live in a throwaway culture that generates anomalous wastes and nations too often act alone instead of cooperating.
Collective responsibility.
Next.
Next, please.
Collective responsibility. The path forward change is possible and it starts with all of us demanding accountability.
Communities taking local action, create global impact, awareness and technology are accelerating solution. The simple choices we make every day all shape the future share. Next.
Yeah. Next.
Next, next slide please.
Yeah.
And we came to the end of the presentation. As the saying goes, we are first generation to feel free climate change and loss that can do something about it. So, let's acknowledge the crisis, act on it, and accelerate change before it's too late. Thank you. Thanks for giving the opportunity.
>> Yes. Uh thank you so much uh Mat Alif from Dr. Mel Education Research Institute.
You have talked about the collective responsibility which was very impressive and you have talked about the youth leadership community action awareness and innovation sustainable living which was really amazing. Thanks to you and your team for making you as a speaker over here today.
>> Thank you gentlemen.
>> Ladies and gentlemen, as we come to the conclusion of continuation of this beautiful occasion, it's my pleasure and privilege to introduce you all to the next speaker of this beautiful session who will be Miss Nitya from Amit University.
I request Miss Nitya from Amit University take to take for the session.
Yes, thank you so much.
Just a minute. Okay.
So, am I sharing the screen or is it someone else?
>> Team is sharing you.
>> Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Yeah. Good evening everyone. I'm Nata from Amit University. I'm proudly serving as the joint secretary of and safe club. Today I feel honored to present my thoughts on the topic sustainability or vision for responsible development. Next slide please.
Yeah, sustainability is not just an environmental concept. It is a long-term commitment toward balance and development. It focuses on meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their own needs. In today's rapidly developing world, industries, technology, and urbanization are growing at extraordinary pace. While development has improved human life in many ways, it has also increased pressure on natural resources and ecosystems. Therefore, sustainability has become essential for maintaining harmony between progress and environmental responsibility. A sustainable society is one that values environmental protection, social well-being and economic stability equally.
Sustainability is important because the world's world is currently facing several interconnected environmental and social challenges. Climate change, pollution, depletion of natural resources, biodiversity loss and water scarcity are becoming global concerns.
Human activities such as excessive industrialization and controlled urban growth and overconumptions are disturbing ecological balance. If this continues without responsible action, future generation may experience severe shortages of food, water, clean air and energy resources. Sustainability is therefore not only about protecting nature but also about ensuring human survival, economic continuity and social equality. Another important aspect is that sustainability encourages responsible decision making. It reminds individuals, industries and governments that devel that development should be thoughtful, inclusive and environmentally conscious. One of the most serious environmental issues today is climate change. The excessive use of fossil fuels, industrial emissions and large scale deforestation have significantly increased green frost uh greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. As a result, the world is experiencing rising global temperatures, melting glacios, sea level rise, rods, floods, and unpredictable weather conditions. At the same time, pollution continues to affect both the environment and human health.
Air pollution contributes to respiratory diseases. Water pollution affects aquatic ecosystem and improper waste disposal damages soil equality.
Deforestation is another major concern because forest plays a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity and regulating climate conditions. The the destruction of forest not only not only removes natural habitat but also reduces earth's capacity to absorb carbon dioxide.
These environmental warning signs clearly indicate the urgent need for sustainable practices and responsible environmental management. Despite growing awareness, sustainability will still faces several challenges. One major challenge is over consumption.
Modern consumers a mo consumer culture often encourages unnecessary purchasing dispo disposable lifestyle and excl ex exclusive use of resources.
This increased waste generation and places additional pressure on ecosystem.
Another important issue is greenwashing.
Some organizations promote themselves as environmentally responsible through advertisements and branding while their actual practices may not support sustainability. Green motion continues misinformation and weakens public trust in genuine environmental initiatives.
True sustainability requires transparency, accountability and long-term commitment rather than temporary image building strategies. As responsible citizen, it is important for us to support authentic sustainable practices and encourage ethical environmental responsibility.
Sustainability cannot be achieved by individuals alone. It requires collective effort from governments, industries, institutions and global organizations. Governments play a key a key role by implementing environmental laws, promoting renewable energy policies, encouraging sustainable infrastructures and regulating industrial emissions. Ind industries and corporations also carry significant responsibility.
Businesses not adopt ethical production methods must uh adopt ethical production methods, reduce carbon emissions, minim minimize waste and invest in environmentally friendly technologies.
International cooperation is equally important. Global initiatives such as the agreements uh encourage countries to work together toward speaker miss Nita.
Sorry to interrupt. We would request you to conclude within one minute of time.
Thank you.
>> Yeah.
>> Yes. Environ environment protection and sustainable development. Technology and innovation are powerful tools for creating sustainable societies.
Renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, and hydroelectric power help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and lower environmental production.
However, technology alone is not enough.
Education and awareness are equally important because they shape responsible behavior and environmental consciousness. Young people today are becoming active voices for envir environmental protection, climate action and social responsibility. Their participation gives hope for a more sustable future. Although awareness about sustainability has increased, many challenges still remain including weak policy implementation, excessive consumerism, environmental negligence and unequal global responsibility.
So the future generation may not judge humanity only by technology progress or econom economic success. They may instead question why environmental dis destruction continue despite global awareness and scientific knowledge. The choice made today will shape the future of the planet. Thank you.
Thank you so much Miss Anita from Anate University. That was a wonderful presentation from your end and you have pointed out about the response responsible use of environment and you have pointed about climate change and deforestation their causes their consequences and over consumption and green washing and you have also included the responsibility of each sector that is the public sector, the private sector and the other sectors with the inclusion of the government, corporate and global responsibility and you have also included about technology and renewable energy especially along with education that will be representing SG4 quality education and that was a wonderful presentation and you have concluded that a vision still becoming reality that is one of the point that we have to look upon and although process Progress has been made, challenges, such a weak policy implementation, consumerism. Oh my god. And unequal responsibility still remain that SDG is still a vision. Thank you so much uh Miss Nita from Amit University for that wonderful presentation.
Ladies and gentlemen, moving ahead, it's my pleasure and privilege to invite our next representing speaker. She is currently representing as the chairman of RIT Rajx Institute of Technology and SA Club. Miss Trashila Shirley Stephens, the stage is all yours.
Thank you sir for this wonderful welcome.
Good evening Chon and all presenter. I'm Priscilla Shelli, secretary of NC club from Rajakmi Institute of Technology.
Imagine this. A child in one country plants trees for bringing a green future while in another country bombs are destroying the ecosystems overnight. We speak of sustainability in conferences, schools and even in social media. But the real question is are we really practicing it?
Let's understand this. First we need to understand what sustainability actually is. Sustainability is the usage of resources to meet the needs of the present while saving it for the future generations as well. And to make this sustainability a light one, United Nations have introduced 17 sustainable goals which depend on three major areas. One is previous slide please.
One is environmental protection where it focuses on protecting and fostering the ecosystem and natural resources.
Secondly, it is the economic growth which is brought into a success rate through sustainability. Next is the social well-being where it ensures the availability of resources to all people irrespective of any differences. Next slide please.
Let's look why sustainability still remains as a vision but not a reality.
One of the reason is the present environmental challenges.
We are living in an era where pollution is at a peak rate. Air, water, soil, everything is being polluted because of the gases released from the industries and the factories directly into the atmosphere. The quality of the natural resources has degraded and because of this the global warming is at its peak rate where because of that the global temperature has increased ice capes melt the sea water level has increased and we are frequently facing a number of floods and droughts.
Next slide please.
And we need to see why sustainability is still a vision in a different way. One of the reason is the lack of implementation of the environmental policies which has been introduced by government and various organization. And next is the growth of industization and urbanization where people tend to clear the forest area for development of factories and industries. Next is the awareness gap. Public awareness gap where especially people living in rural areas doesn't have much exposure about what sustainability actually is and how we need to use the resource without expl without exploiting the quality of it.
And next is the global environmental concerns that outspaces the current situation. Next slide please.
Now let's see some barriers and obstacles to sustainable development.
Number one is economical priorities outweigh environmental concerns. This is where corporates and uh industries focus only on the growth of the country's GDP and the profit of the company. But they should also have some knowledge and they should also indulge themselves in bringing a sustainable environment. Next is the dependency on fossil fuels and at present we are witnessing the highest rate of fossil fuels because of increase in demand for it. Next is high waste generations from factories and industries where the waste uh that has been emitted out from factories should be uh segregated according to its recyclability and it should be properly treated before introducing into the natural resources like water and even proper filters must be introduced into the chimneys so that the quality of air does not decrease. Next is the limited global cooperation and funding which bring sustainability development to practice at a less rate. Next slide please.
Let's look at the measures which can be brought so that the sustainability can be turned into a reality. First things first, the future lies in the hands of youth and we must take proper measures and we must think of new innovations so that proper awareness must be create can be created community of people especially among the rural areas so that people have much exposure regarding the what sustainability actually means and what does strategic goals does and next communities and governmental organization and non-governmental organizations s must come together and join hands so that sustainable development is not just going to remain as sufficient but it is practiced in reality as well. Next slide please.
To conclude we must remember that sustainability is not just a responsibility of a single individual but it must be practiced in a day-to-day life. Every sector, every individual must contribute something so that the sustainability is practiced in the present. So that a future generations might enjoy the resources that we are enjoying today. And we must remember that one famous quote the greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.
It is us who will be saving it for the future. We must remember that. I thank one and all for hearing this presentation and I thank my mentor Dr. Steve Suresh who is assistant professor from Rajarakmi Institute of Technology.
I thank for providing me this opportunity. Stay sustainable. Thank you.
It's uh unmuted. So that was a wonderful presentation uh from your end Vishla Shirley because you have discussed about the present environmental changes changes because uh among uh the various targets of SG30 we have 169 targets uh related to climate action. So that was wonderful and you have given your four barriers. So that too with inclusion of uh the dependency on fossil fuels as RF and other speakers included and limited global cooperation and funding. So that will def definitely be a big barrier among the nations and collective responsibility you have made your representation there. So youth as drivers and you care for your future people and that is wonderful and collective action across generation is essential and every sector must come whether it is healthcare whether it is uh electrical engineers whether it is mechanical engineers they represent any sector they represent any society it is all that we do u together with equality ity and that is also for sustainability and that was a wonderful pitch from your endali prashant. Thank you so much for your wonderful time.
>> Thank you sir.
>> Ladies and gentlemen, moving on to the next presenter is from K Ramakrishnan College of Engineering.
He is currently representing as the chairman of KRCE Aen NC club. Please put your virtual hands together in welcoming Mr. as I to take forward session. The stage is all yours gentlemen.
>> Thank you sir. Good evening to everyone who are gathered here. I am I from K Ramakrishna College of Engineering Ti.
Today I will going to present about the topic of sustainable reality. The gap between the vision and the ground reality. I hope the presentation gives you all something about interesting about to think. Next slide please.
Next. Thank you. Introduction. Normally, a sustainability is no longer just a future goal. It's a present reality. We have global agreements and SDGs, but the real progress is very slow. We are living in a critical decade. If we do not act now, the consequences will be very serious. Today, I will show you the ground level truth of the sustainability in 2026.
Next slide. I think environmental challenges. There are four major environmental challenges we face on today. First, the climate changes. The temperature are breaking records every year and extreme weather is increasing.
Second, the pollution. Billions of peoples are breathing the toxic air and plastic has reached every ocean. Third, the deforestation. We are losing our forest at an alarming speed. Fourth, the resource depletion. We are consuming too much and soon resources will be get permanently scarce.
So next slide please. The so why sustainability is still so far away?
There are four main reasons. First, there is a huge gap between the government policies and the actual actions. Second, the industries are still prioritizing their profit over the planet. Third, the public awareness is at the grass level roots is still very low. Fourth, the global inequalities like rich countries pollute more poor and but the poor countries suffers more.
Thank you. The major barriers are like the economic priorities. Economic growth is always prioritized over the long-term environmental health. We also have heavy dependencies on the fossil fuels even though we know the damage they cause. We live in a single use culture that creates massive waste. And finally, there is a very limited global corporations to solve these problems together.
To conclude that the sustainability will remains just a vision unless we unless we face its reality. Youth and institutions like ours must take responsibility and our club Enzo club is committed to take real actions on the many campus.
Remember that a small and consistent effort of today will shape a better tomorrow and thank you for listening.
Thank you.
Thank you Mr. you that was a wonderful presentation from your end and you have discussed about the environmental challenges that we face especially the four points which all the other speakers have included as well about climate change, pollution, deforestation and resource depletion and one other speaker was also presenting about pollution and its effect. When we are talking about pollution, let's talk about uh the pollution that is caused by carbon emission. That will definitely be air pollution. And because of air pollution, we are getting a lot of respiratory diseases. And that will be another degradation for STG3 which is good health and well-being whether when we are talking about sustainability it includes all the 17 STGS and one among the important SG will always be SG3 which is good health and wellbe the air pollution which causes which is caused by carbon emission which is also caused by human action is a degradation for SG3 that is degrading the physical fitness and mental fitness of people by causing respiratory diseases as well. So that was a wonderful uh presentation from chairman of Kamak Krishna College of Engineering Mr. Thank you gentlemen.
>> Thank you sir.
Ladies and gentlemen, as we come to the continuation of this beautiful occasion where we are discussing whether sustainability is just a vision or it is a reality, we will move on to our next presenter who is currently representing as the chairman of St. Savior's Catholic College of Engineering Naga Miss Cindia to take forward the session with her presentation. The stage is all yours dear speaker.
I repeat and request Miss India who is representing as a chairman of St. Savior's Catholic College of Engineering to take forward the session with your presentation.
I repeat and request Miss Cindy who is representing as a chairman of St. Sav Catholic College of Engineering to take for the presentation.
So good evening everyone.
So good evening everyone. First of all I thank the itiner club for giving me this great opportunity to present on the SDG talk event of 2026. Uh so my topic is sustainability is not just a vision. Uh it's a reality. So let us see how it is implemented in real life. Next slide please.
So sustainability in today's world. So in this today's world the energy demand is increasing day by day and we all are aware of uh aware that the renewable energy sources are demanding nowadays due to the depletion of fossil fuels like coal, petroleum etc. So we are moving towards the sustainable development goals and among them the renewable energy systems like uh electric vehicles are booming today. So um global renewable energy capacity is uh increasing rapidly and India is among the topmost country for the implementation of the solar energy systems. So this sustainability development goals mainly focus on three STDs. they are STD 7, STDs 11 and 13. So next slide please.
So real world environmental challenges.
So we are facing day by day uh new environmental climate changes uh if it is uh this is summer but we can see that some in more places there are raining.
So uh all clashes all are uh all are happening opposite to that. So uh water scarcity is increasing day by day. Uh in more areas there are no underground water. So uh plastic waste in the ocean are polluting the aquatic animals and they are losing their lives. So next slide.
So let us see how sustainability is being implemented. So it can be implemented in three ways. they are uh firstly the government initiatives, industry practices and community efforts. So firstly the our government of India has taken many uh initiatives like more schemes like national solar mission and switchb bar mission and they are promoting electric vehicles and green energy. So secondly industrial practices industrial practices in industries they are using renewable energy systems uh for the production of generation of electricity and they are recycling and they're the recycling the wastes waste water treatment etc. And community level means community efforts we can uh join together and community uh we we can work as a community uh for planting trees um and for waste disposal waste management etc. Okay. role of individuals and youth. So as an individual how he can he or she can contribute to the sustainability that means uh simply they can save the electricity and water whenever it is not needed they can close the tabs and whenever it is not needed they can off the light or switches uh so that easily they can save more energy and they can uh reduce the usage of plastic etc. So role of students and youth uh we are in it and safe club. It is a really good club uh which is creating awareness among the youth and students. So like that most of the uh club activities they can involve and create a awareness in the social medias. So technology and startups in the sense uh smart energy systems a and IoT projects they can develop and they can get pattern and following that more students can engage with that. So next slide.
So in conclusion, sustainability is a present responsibility because um if we overconume the natural resources which are present now, our future generation will be get affected. Uh they cannot get all these resources and it is very complicated to think about that. So sustainability is not just a vision. Uh it is a reality but it has some challenges. uh for that for tackling that challenges we can work together as a community for that governments, industries, institutions, individuals can work together uh so that we can overcome all these challenges and make possible sustainability as a reality. So small sustainable actions today will create a better tomorrow. So thank you all for this great opportunity. Thank you.
Thank you so much Miss India the representing chairman of St. Savis Catholic College of Engineering INF club. You have clearly given a vision that government initiatives, industry practice and community efforts are the main sources how STG is being implemented among the nations. That was wonderful and your conclusion that sustainability is present response and you have concluded that it is no longer a vision no debate that it will not be a vision. It will just be a reality and we have some challenges remaining to achieve SG 2030 or in another 10 or 20 years and small sustainable big create a better tomorrow. That is what we are actually talking about in this conference. Thanks to you and your team uh Miss India from St. Savior's Catholic College of Engineering. Ladies and gentlemen, as we come to the continuation of this beautiful occasion, may I please invite our presenting speaker from Rajik Institute of Technology, Miss Shalini to pitch her presentation. The stage is all yours, dear speaker.
Thank you de sir for a warm welcome and wonderful conducting the event and the whole team.
Good evening everyone. Myself P Shalishri from Rajalmi Institute of Technology. I am a member of our college. I feel privileged to be here at this STG talk event. Today's talk is called sustainability a vision. I want to start with the word vision not a reality something we can clearly see but not have fully reached. My goal today is to reach the gap and your mind in hopefully in your actions. Next slide please.
What is sustainability? The definition that changed everything. Sustainability was defined in 1987 as the meeting needs to be present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. From this the triple bottom lines environmental stewardship, social well-being and economic prosperity. the three pillars, one system. And in 2020 15, n 193 nations committed to the 17 sustainable development goals, a universal blueprint to end poverty and protect the planet and ensure the peace by 2030.
Next slide, please. Yeah. Environmental challenges. The urgency is here right now. 2024 was urgency. 2024 was the hottest year ever recorded. The first to breach the 1.5° C threshold. Not a projection, a fact. 93% of the ocean plastic comes from just 10 rivers. Over 10 million hectares of forest disappear every year. Climate crisis, global pollution, biodiversity loss, these are present condition, not a distinct warning. Why we are falling? It is due to the gap between goals and reality with 2030 approaching only 15 to 35% of STG targets are on track. Why it's so the industrial paradox economic growth still relies on emissions heavy system even when green alternative exist.
Economic short- termism keep decision makers focused on the next batter not next generation and fossil fuels still account for 80% of global energy meanwhile SDG literacy knowing what is global actually are remains below 50% in many parts of the world you can't act on what you don't understand next slide please next slide Next slide.
Yeah.
The responsibility. The time is now. But here's the hope. A teenager with handmade sign sparked the Fridays for the future movement across 150 countries. Kenya's green belt movement planted over 51 million trees driven by communities, not governments. New circular economy startups are proving you don't need to own everything you use to live well. Bottom up actions driven top down change. Next slide please.
Sustainability is no longer about doing less harm. It's about doing more good.
Collective responsibility is the bridge from vision to reality. That bridge is built one choice, one conversation, one action at a time. That's conversation starts right here. Thank you for the whole team for giving this opportunity and thank you Suresh Sur our mentor of Rajalm Institute of Technology.
Thank you so much Miss Amalini.
That was a very wonderful flow in your presentation and you have included the essentials in order to contribute your topic that you have chosen. Thank you.
>> Thank you sir. Ladies and gentlemen, our next representing speaker is from our next representing speaker Miss Washini from study world college of engineering is unavailable in is unavailable to take part in this event due to personal reasons. May I please invite our next representing speaker from KIT Kangal Karnet Institute of Technology Quur who is representing as a chairman KIT and safe club Mr. Bish to take for the session with this speech.
Thank you sir.
Can you please share my PP?
Thank you.
Good morning everyone. Today I am going to present my topic is sustainability reality presented by Bubis from Kiner Energy Institute of Technology. Next slide.
Next slide please.
Introduction to sustainability.
Sustainability means meeting our present needs without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their own needs. It is based on three main pillars. There are environmental protection, social development and economic growth.
Next slide.
Environmental challenges.
Today our planet is facing serious environmental challenges such as pollution, climate, deforestation. Air and water pollution are increasing day by day and global warming is leading to extreme weather condition. Deforestation is also destroying natural habitates.
Next slide.
Sustainability reality barriers to development. There are several barriers to sustainability that is rapid industrialization, overuse of fossil fuels and population growth are some of the challenges. In many cases, economic growth is given more importance than environmental protection.
Next slide.
Next slide please. Yeah. Waste management infographic.
In reality even though many policies exist their implementation is often worst generation is and problem management still laging that we are still for achieving through sustainability.
Next slide.
Next slide.
Sustainable innovation and action. To improve sustainability, we must follow the principle of three Ras. There are reduce, reuse and recycle. We should also use renewable energy source like production crew. Uh can you please uh stop sharing? I think uh our speaker has left due to any technical issues. Get back to him again. Boues, dear speaker Boues, are you there in the meeting, gentlemen? Bubesh.
Ladies and gentlemen, our next representing speaker from Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute, Miss Jennifer.
I repeat and request Miss Jennifer E from Dr. Mj Educational Search Institute to pitch her presentation.
I Good morning everyone. I'm Jennifer.
Today I'm here to speak about sustainability a vision or reality.
Sustainability means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations. It is based on three important pillars.
environmental protection, social equality, and economic growth. The 17 sustainable development goals, also known as the STGS, guide us toward building a better and more sustainable world. Next slide.
Today, our planet is facing serious environmental challenges. Climate changes causing extreme weather conditions and rising global temperatures. Pollution is affecting our air, water and soil. At the same time, deforestation and overuse of natural resources are damaging ecosystems and reducing biodiversity. These challenges remind us that protecting the environment is no longer a choice. It is a necessity.
Although sustainability is widely discussed, achieving it completely is still difficult. Many industries continue to prioritize profit over environmental protection. Rapid industrialization and urbanization are increasing environmental damage. While awareness among people remains limited in many areas because of the gap between ideas and action, sustainability still remains more of a vision than a complete reality.
Next slide.
There are several barriers that slow down sustainable development. The world still depends heavily on fossil fuels.
Waste generation is increasing rapidly and recycling systems are often inefficient. In addition, lack of global cooperation and policy implementation delays progress toward climate goals.
Overcoming these barriers requires innovation, responsibility and collective effort from governments, industries and individuals.
Change begins with us. Today's youth are becoming powerful voices for sustainability through innovation, awareness, and community action. Simple lifestyle changes such as reducing waste, saving energy, and supporting echofriendly practices can create a meaningful impact.
Next slide.
Sustainability is not just a vision. It can become reality if we act together.
Thank you.
>> Thank you so much Mr. Jennifer G from Dr. Educational Assist. That was a wonderful presentation. You have included all the essentials for this speech. You can mobile.
>> Ladies and gentlemen, it's a very sad news that we are having some technical issues with Madavan's speech in presenting his speech. We have an official announcement to make for uh the YouTube participants who are watching uh the conference. We are officially conducting our uh international conference which is known as eneral which is the energy based conference which we are conducting every year and this year we have a different scenario of conducting.
It is based on continental we are inviting the seven continent speakers to represent and speak. We would like to send an official invitation for all.
Malan, have you joined?
>> Can you hear me? No. Can you hear me?
Yes. Perfect. Perfect.
Please present m I request the production to share his presentation.
>> Yes. Yes. It's clear. It's clear. M >> I'm going to please start your presentation.
>> It's audible now.
>> Yes. Yes. It is clear. It is clear.
Okay, I'm going to speak about a topic that's not just important for us but it's essential for future of our planet.
When we look around the world today, we can clearly see that the nature is under pressure, summers are becoming hotter, floods and cyclones are increasing, forests are disappearing and pollution is affecting both people and wildlife.
These are not problems of future anymore. They are problems we are already experiencing. SL.
So next slide.
So next slide. Uh okay.
One of the biggest challenges in climate change because excessive carbon emission from vehicles, industries and fosites the earth's temperature is increasing to >> this meeting is being recorded rising sea levels unpredictable weather conditions with irregular rainfalls. uh city is facing extreme heat and many animals lost their habitat and another major issues in pollutions.
The air we breathe, the water we drink and even soil we depend, chemical contamination deforestation, trees are cutting down roads, buildings are industries, forest other banks of our planet. At the same time, natural resources like fresh water, coal and minerals are being used rapidly. If we continue this way, future generation may not have enough resources to survey comfortably.
Comfortably change the slide, please.
Change the slide, please.
Whether has completed his presentation proof. Uh no no actually again his um his voice is not audible.
So can we like move to the next part?
>> Speak at least now.
>> No, he tried.
>> Thank you so much. We can production crew please.
>> Hello sir.
>> Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Production crew you can stop sharing from uh can stop sharing the presentation.
Thank you.
Ladies and gentlemen, >> as we reflect on today's discussion, it becomes clear sustainable.
Please mute yourself.
>> I'm sorry. Sorry.
As we reflect on today's discussion, it becomes that clearly sustainable development goals widely known as STGS or more than just international objectives. They are global call for action and responsible living introduced by the United Nations as part of STG 2030 and the 17 STGS addresses some quality education sustainable cities responsible consumption environmental protection and global partnership. In today's rapidly changing world, sustainability is no longer an option. Conversion, rising environmental concerns, climate crisis, resource depletion, and social inequalities remind us that immediate and collective action is necessary. Achieving the STG requires governments, institutions, industries, communities and especially youth to work together towards longterm sustainable solution. This is where urban and safe clubs play an important role by creating platforms that encourage youthdriven sustainability initiatives, environmental awareness, innovation, leadership, and collaborative action through programs such as sustainability forums. other campaigns, SG dialog, youth leadership initiatives and environmental activities in makers and future sustainability.
Today's session has clearly shown that youth are not merely observers of the global challenges. They are contributors to solutions. Every idea shared, every discussion it initiated and every action taken today beyond its step towards achieving a more sustainable, inclusive and environmentally responsible world.
Let us continue to support the vision of the sustainable development goals only through discussions but through practical action, responsible choices, innovation and community impact. I Davisai would like to express my sincere gratitude to professor and Dr. Dr. Eldra the president of Institution of Green Engineers for his mentoring and support towards the achieving of this wonderful event. We also would like to thank Dr. S. Matankumar whose support has been immense from the beginning of this wonderful occasion. We also would like to thank Mr. John Wilfford Thomas who was represented as the production crew head for this successful implementation of this event. I take a moment to thank Mr. Jay Ganesh and Mr. Pratipad the event organizers from the name safe club score committee.
