In the 2026 Texas Senate runoff, President Donald Trump's endorsement of Ken Paxton over incumbent Senator John Cornyn demonstrates how political endorsements can influence voter decisions, particularly among supporters who may prioritize candidate loyalty and party alignment over incumbency advantages.

In Texas runoff, Paxton aims to defeat Cornyn for Senate nomination追加:
I really haven't heard anything bad about him as far as what he's done, how he supported different things. I think and when Donald Trump was in the beginning going back and forth of who he was going to pick. So, I looked at it from the standpoint of we need to have somebody who's going to be a little more politically neutral, not over the top one way or the other.
Well, I wasn't really sure who I was going to vote for, but I kind of weighed everything out and this is the first time in a long time I've actually weighed things out. And I voted for Donald Trump the first time. I thought it was the greatest thing.
The second time I voted for him, I really thought he was going to make some changes.
He did a lot of things I didn't weren't in my you know, weren't beneficial to me. And they did some things that hurt me, but I looked at it we go, you know, the country's got to change a little bit.
Otherwise, you end up giving the farm away.
I like the job he's done. I I just don't like sometimes the way he says things.
That's all I mean I I would probably be the same way cuz I have the same kind of crazy stuff that uh comes out of my mouth. But I think if you think about it first before you say it, I think you would be more accepted by everybody. Cuz he has done a lot of things to fix a lot of the problems. Not everybody's happy about it. I'm not happy about it, but you know what? Change is good.
>> I went with Ken Paxton.
>> Okay.
>> You know, um figure we might as well start term limits now. Cornyn's been in way too long and it's time for him to retire.
>> Um I think it's a little of both. Um he's been in office for a long time and really hasn't done that much um that I see. Of course, that's my opinion. Um but like I said, I like Ken Paxton.
He's a fighter and that's what we need right now.
>> I was on I was already going to vote for Ken Paxton, but yeah, I'm a Trump fan, mag all the way, so yeah, that um that helped push him, I think, a little bit over uh Cornyn. And I'm glad Trump did. Even if Trump hadn't have endorsed Ken Paxton, I still would have voted for Ken Paxton.
