We Added Dream Lizards to The Reptarium!Added:
Good morning, guys. Welcome to the vlog.
Today is an exciting day. As you can see, these guys are biting.
>> These guys are chomping at the bit.
That's chopping at the bit because we have new additions here in this box. Oh my goodness. So, this is a pretty long awaited. We've been really looking, doing some research, and it took a while to actually find these animals. So, I'm very excited. I really hope they're going to be exactly what we want. I'm fairly confident. Okay.
>> I hope they are. I >> get behind you. Oh my gosh.
>> Behind me, not in each ice. Actually, hard. Where are you?
Okay. Wait. We are careful.
>> Okay. Yeah. Okay. So, we're down to the bags. So, there's two bags. Oh, okay. I can already tell that they're a good size, which makes me happy.
>> Oh, are they being nice?
>> I don't know. Let's find out.
>> There's a good possibility that we may or may not get. There's a really good possibility I get bit cuz that always happens.
>> So they were not sold as super tame, but they were sold as doing well. Maybe super t not being super tame means flighty.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Oh wow.
>> Oh, look at look at the tail.
>> It looks like a tail.
>> All right, this got All right, these are a really good size. A really good size.
>> Oh, he's moving.
>> Yep.
>> It's a good start. All right.
>> Don't get bit by these things, huh?
>> All right. Claws are very sharp. Ouch.
Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Oh my god. His tail is >> going back into the bags.
>> Hey, buddy. Turn around.
>> I know. Oh my gosh.
>> Well, he's not running out of the bag.
>> Sorry. Am I helping or making it worse?
>> Oh, I got him. I got him. I GOT HIM. I GOT HIM.
>> OH, HE'S not very happy. So, don't get messed up. Look how good he looks.
>> Okay, I'm scared.
>> Okay, you keep holding that one. And there are two actually, not just one.
So, this is actually supposed to be a pair. Actually, >> can I say something? Can I make an observation?
>> Sure. These back scale things are no joke. Like, they surprise me how sharp they are.
>> Like, that was worse than their claws in my opinion.
>> Mike.
>> Yeah.
>> Mike, do you know are those also called osteoderms?
>> They are also called osteoderms. And that is part of the reason why they get their name cayman lizards because they are designed and built like a cayman.
And also a lot of what they eat.
>> Oh my god.
>> You opened it without me.
>> You weren't answering your phone.
>> BS. Oh my god.
>> And look at how good they look.
>> These are a great size. I'm so happy. I was really actually I was expecting a little bit smaller. So >> me too. Me too.
>> But these are perfect perfect size for that enclosure. Right.
>> I'm so happy. And you guys don't even know. Well, now you do. So call Cayman lizards. One, the osteoderms, the straight plated lizard basically. And then on top of it also what they eat.
Caymans eat a lot of crustaceations, fish. That's what these guys eat too.
And that's where they get that name. But also the jaw pressure. And that's why we're saying you don't want to get bit by these ones, especially these size.
thing that's eating snails, man. That is not anything you want to get your hand in. But >> I wonder if this is the boy.
>> That was going to be my guess, too.
>> No offense to you, girl.
>> But like, look how big these osteoderms are.
>> Yeah, that is absolutely osteoderms.
>> I will tell you, I actually haven't seen and interacted with really really large caymans and then really really small caymans. I haven't ever really got to spend time with this like teenage, >> you know, adolescent size. This is awesome.
>> Well, obviously we had to get the enclosure ready before we got these guys. So, let's flash back to yesterday.
>> What are you searching for? What are we doing?
>> I'm just looking I'm just looking for a couple more pieces just in case we want to add anything a little extra. The problem is is like a lot of these things you need to really like cut them.
>> Yeah, this is like a >> It's like a It's like almost too annoying to want to deal with, honestly.
Wa!
>> Look at this big >> elephant.
>> It's like floppy, too. Look at that.
What is this?
>> I don't know. I've actually I don't think we've ever used this in anything.
I've never >> I don't like it. It's scary.
>> I don't know about that one. Connie really wants to use this.
>> The big flop.
>> The big floppy.
>> Oh dear.
>> We have a big piece of that over there.
>> You want to use the big flop?
>> I don't know if I want to use that. Too intimidating, huh?
>> Yeah, it's huge.
>> So, I shouldn't I shouldn't Well, >> no. I mean, if you want to take this, take this.
>> Yeah, but sometimes it can always be better. Forgive me for caring.
>> I don't know where the rest of our plans went. We used to have so much more.
>> Pom poms.
>> Pom poms. Give me an A.
>> All right. You got the goods. We got some extra stuff. We got some stuff over there. Let's go see what really quick, too. That tote.
>> I thought this was empty.
completely empty.
>> Oh no.
>> Okay, let's go do this.
>> If we get hit, at least it will be recorded. Go.
>> That doesn't feel appropriate, right?
>> Uh-oh.
>> I love it when kids are crying when they leave cuz that means that they didn't want to leave and we did our job.
>> Yeah.
>> I was wondering if you had some time to discuss some name ideas that I had.
>> Yeah. I'm not doing anything.
>> All right. So, I need your help brainstorming. So, I got a couple things going. I I think I'm not good at naming things. I feel like >> No, Clint Eastwood was good.
>> Okay, >> that was good. Okay, thank you.
>> So, and I'm kind of I'm liking that vibe.
>> So, I was kind of thinking now just hear me out.
>> Bob and Marley cuz of the colors.
They're pretty Rasta like >> I see what you're saying. I see what you're saying.
>> But you're not really You don't I don't really feel like you like that one a lot.
>> Bob, Marley.
>> Bob and Marley.
>> I think it's got to be Bob Marley and >> the Wheelers.
>> Well, Yeah, but one's got to really be a girl name and a boy name. All right, so here's the thing. It's okay. We already have Bobs.
>> We Let's just scratch that. Don't even talk about anymore. Moving on. Summer time. Summer time.
>> This is what we're going to do. You're going to say anything on the count of three and then whatever we say is going to be the name of the animal. 1 2 3.
>> Okay. I said plants. You said parfait.
>> I think that I can go in there and I can you can position and you drill. Okay.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Cuz like like I said, I'd like to have >> like I'd love to get one going up like that, >> you know, little scenery. Some more basking.
>> We could fluff that plant up and bring it around the stick. Yeah. Fluff it up.
>> I like that.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Something like that.
>> Put it in it.
>> And then it hides the >> So it hides the other.
>> Maybe like another one going up to that corner somewhere. Well, I don't want to make it look like a too too busy. I mean, I guess we could for the UVB, but these are UVB, too. They're both fast, but I don't want Does that look too much? Like too much.
>> Here, put the Put this stick on that side.
>> Yeah. Give me a plan, though.
>> I think that's better. Layering it.
>> We can hide it so we don't see screws and all that fun stuff.
>> It's pretty It's pretty good.
>> Loud. HD TV could never. Well, you definitely can't drill into sort of this area, but I can just set it on there and drill it here.
>> I don't mind that.
>> Or you can put a pom pom on that.
>> It looks into here.
>> I think we can absolutely make that work.
>> And then I don't know about if I like that plant there.
>> Oh, >> no. It's not very full. Like, try this one. What is it? A a dill. Is that a dill plant?
It looks kind of like a bush, right?
Dimension.
>> What are you thinking of your masterpiece?
>> I don't like it.
>> How about you start with the sticks, >> you know?
>> You know, all right, time to drill the wood, you know.
>> I build a lot of things. So much. So, not just here. I've built chicken coup.
All of the things in my life.
>> Everything in your life you build.
>> A lot of things. I build my life. I've built my life.
>> Exactly. Sorry, Mom. We're going off of what screws we have available. You know, we're all about reuse, recycle. You might have to buy. If you were there, we'd have enough around here, but not always.
Secure. Another corn.
The body contortion between the piss in the corner is going to be real fun. It's going to be the best day of my life.
Don't you my back's about to be that real comfortable.
>> We all know how flexible I am.
Looking good. Nice. Um, we had to do this all show though.
>> All right, next up. Anything Mike's doing? They're doing this all show, so might as well save time.
>> I got to do it for the fans.
>> Always the fans.
>> The fans, man. They drove from Oregon to be here. Can you find a stud to put it through the wall or do you just drill it through the wall? I would just put a screw through the wall because there's no studs. There's just a metal beam, but I don't like that one's not going to move and I don't know if that one's going to bud.
>> Is that fine then? You think? Like as it's a little wobble.
>> I can screw it in there and do the >> Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
>> I'm happy with that. That was funny. Oh, screw you. Did I work this?
>> I'll just screw the dang stick into the wall.
>> Say screw it and go get some lunch.
>> I'm in >> and then we'll just do your plants real quick and we'll be done.
>> My plants.
>> Are we going to screw the plants?
>> Are we good?
>> What's up with you?
>> Huh?
>> What's up with you?
>> What do you mean? Am I just screwing around?
>> Am I going to screw them all?
>> I'm going to go screw.
>> I think we have to screw them in because they're not going to stay in place all the way. Yeah. Or we just drill dude.
Hold on. Stick it in.
>> I'm so addicted to all the things.
Um, cleaning my email inbox impulsively like without even coffee.
>> It's not enough.
>> I drank a 200 mig.
>> I think this is cuz I'm sick and not like functioning on zero sleep all the time.
>> All right. So, look at my butt.
>> I'm going to look at it the whole time.
>> That's what he does to me every time.
Don't do this.
I be looking.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh yeah. Noah big strong man. No sticking in the water.
>> Strong man.
>> Cool off. Yeah. I saw that.
>> She doesn't care. I'm being nice to him.
He doesn't even care.
>> He was like cat calling him what you're doing.
>> Nothing. No worry.
>> Don't worry. I'll just >> Oh, that sounded good.
>> That sounded good. All right, let's get these plants in and we'll uh >> wrap this up.
>> All right, the women can do their job now.
>> God, I still need some screw down. So, I I still need a man around my I need you to be handing me things when I request them when I go give me the plant.
>> I first of all, don't snap. Okay. So, >> why is it the snap that bothers you so much?
>> I don't care. You can snap.
>> Thank you, Noah. But hey, we like pom bear.
>> You like pom poms?
>> I don't mind a pom there. Pom looks nice there.
>> Does the pom pom really look like they're Yeah, >> I think it's cute.
>> I really like this because spend a lot of time a boreal, but then they will get the water when they get nervous. It's kind of like how Godzilla did. So, I'm excited to see how much they actually like are hanging out by the door and stuff, especially once they get a little bit more uh habituated to us and everything. It's going to be good.
>> I don't want to strip this through.
Lori, >> is it too much?
>> Oh my goodness.
>> Fine. No second. All right. So we gave them >> I feel like the brown and blue ones.
>> Yeah.
>> Snap.
>> I feel like you can use some a connector bridge.
>> Oh, I mean I don't hate that.
>> Can you make it sit up a little bit more?
>> Yeah, like that.
>> Oh, and then it gets the heat lamp, too.
that >> different options. Do you like that?
>> I do like that. And these guys, you know, they're not they're not huge, so they are kind of small. So, the more we can give them, I think the better.
>> Yeah. This is great. Look at you guys go.
>> Guys, this looks really good. Does it?
Yeah. I'm excited to see.
>> Me, too. What do you think?
>> Wow. So many branches. I love it.
>> Doesn't it look good?
>> Yeah. Yeah, it gives them a lot of places to get warm, get by the water.
>> Good job. I love it.
>> I know.
>> I did all the work. I did most of it.
Yeah.
>> She did everything.
>> You did. I knew it.
>> But it's whatever. Just Just let her feel good.
>> Love. Cool.
>> Just keep inflating.
>> So excited. You did great, Mikey.
>> I didn't do a lot, but I did enough.
>> I think it looks really good. I love that there's different levels. There's different ways to get to the lights. All the lights are set to their temperatures. So, I think we got that good.
>> Nose and tail is probably about this big. And then the body is going to be about that big.
>> They're big balance on that.
>> Yeah. Able to balance. The branches are big enough.
>> They're not going to get big enough to break the branches. I think it's just the lost cause.
>> They're trying, but I don't think it's >> Yeah. A loose Going to last longer, I guess.
>> Oh, yeah. Just throw another one on top.
Make it.
>> Oh, I love that. Like a little little bow case.
>> She's been calling them our pom poms.
>> Oh, pom poms.
>> I don't hate that, dude.
>> Me neither.
>> Honestly, I think they did a really really good job. I love this. I love all the pieces they put in. This is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to get enough branches in there for these new animals to be able to enjoy it. And honestly, they knocked it out of the park. I love the plants. I love everything about it.
And we're back. Now, let's go get these guys across the street and into that beautiful enclosure.
>> Dude, they're so pretty.
>> I'm so excited to have these guys. I hope they like it. We put such a long time into their enclosure.
>> I hope they use the water a lot, too. I hope that when we put them in, they dive right into the water. That would be so cool to watch them swim around like that.
>> Honey, you're traveling with your freaking chili.
>> It's my lunch break. His has chili.
>> I'm off the clock. I'm just doing this for the love of the game.
>> I literally was like >> Conniey's chili.
>> Yep. There it is.
>> At least you're smelling her eating it and not the other way.
>> Yeah.
>> Give it a couple, >> right, Mike?
>> Yeah.
>> All right, you guys ready?
We were going in.
>> No. Yeah. We're just >> Yeah.
>> What kind of enclosure they had before, but I can guarantee you it definitely it wasn't as better than this. So, they're probably just getting acclimated. But wow. I can't wait to watch them kind of run around, perch, dive into the water.
This is going to be so cool, guys. And guess what? The first exhibit as soon as you walk in. So, when you come and visit, come right here and see these guys.
>> Actually, these are going to need a good sponsor.
>> Yes.
>> Yes, they will. Hey, >> if you want to be a sponsor for the Cayman Lizards, head right over to legacyquarium.com.
You guys can go ahead right to that sponsorship tab. Send Melissa email.
She'll hook you guys up. Again, first enclosure right when you walk in. Put your name on this. You want your name on here. I'm just saying. It's pretty awesome. Also, I think if you guys want, put some name suggestions down in the comments because we're going to be fighting over >> Marley. We're going to be fighting over for the next like 6 weeks. So, we need some help.
>> And what? Bob, Marley, and what?
>> Bob and Marley.
>> Bob and Marley. See, >> I mean, that's not a bad one.
>> It's really not.
>> It's really not.
>> Maybe we're going to do that cuz they're Rasta. And if if you like open up the enclosure, we have like a little bit of Rasta Fairy music playing in the background.
>> Oh.
Nope, that wasn't it. That was not it.
That was not >> That's okay.
>> And if you guys enjoyed us getting new animals, make sure you drop a like on the video as well. That tells us that you love this content and drop some more comments down below. What should we get next? We want to know your ideas. So, this zoo is yours.
>> Komodo dragon.
>> I said it.
>> Oh, >> Komodo dragon.
>> Crocodile. I mean, uh, >> who said that?
>> Penguins.
>> Giraffe. Yeah, throw giraffe in there. I don't know. a hippopotamus.
>> All right, he's getting out of hand now.
>> Wow, look at that.
>> Say hi.
>> Oh, that is so cute. What the heck?
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Thank you. I like my new house.
>> That's so cool. This is the moment that I was hoping that we would get and we're watching it right now. Wow, look at that too.
So cool.
>> Such a good view.
>> Water.
Heat.
Hey. Hey. Hey.
Man, I could not be happier. here. I mean, it's always exciting when you're adding new animals, but watching these guys in this exhibit, seeing how it looks, seeing how they're acting, honestly, this really confirms that this was the perfect addition. These guys are just cruising around, kind of figuring out the new enclosure. I love the fact that they're jumping in the water and and then climbing out. Honestly, this is so good. These are the things that keep us going, man. just adding these new animals, getting to see the excitement, getting to see them love and figure out their new environments. Man, I tell you what, I wish every day was as good as this day. All right, it is one full day later and these guys are loving it. They are both in the water right now as we speak. The other girl is in the back. We honestly, you can't see her. There's some glare and stuff, but I can barely see her outline. She's just basking in the water. Got her head out. I love this because when we had Godzilla in here, he spent a lot of time on the branches and I rarely saw him ever in the water. The fact that these Cayman lizards are just loving the water, it makes this cage so much better because now it's all being used. There's not a part of it that's just being ignored for the most part.
So, I could not be more happy so far.
One day in, it is just so cool to be head high. And there was I didn't film it, but there was a couple little kids like right here. They're looking at it and they're just like infatuated and just having a great time. So, that's so cool. Another thing that I also just learned while researching the Cayman lizard, there's a whole another locality of them that aren't as colorful and vibrant. They don't have the red head and the green body. They're the same lizard shape, but they're brown. And I think that's really cool. I I had no idea before today that there was actually a whole different locality of Cayman lizards. So, you know, you get something new, you learn something new every single day. And um I mean, this thing is going to be a fan favorite for sure.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> We specifically put that branch in there just to see that. And within 2 hours, she's up on top of it.
>> That's awesome. How amazing is that?
Look it. Just stop right there.
>> Yeah. All right. Enjoy that.
>> There it is, dude. There he is.
>> He's in the water now. He just took a nice big boot cuz, you know, that's my luck.
>> That is so cool to see and witness that our idea is being utilized nice and close to that heat lamp so she can bask and get nice and warm. He's swimming in the water. Perfect utilization for this cage.
>> That's so sick.
>> Yes.
>> I'm so happy that we have these again.
They're such a good size. I can't wait to have to feed them and, you know, just play with them and get hands on with them and see how much they calm down.
>> See, look at this.
>> We've got some new addition here of Cayman lizards.
>> Of course.
>> Oh, they're way bigger than I thought.
>> They got an alligator look to them, don't they?
>> Cayman lizard.
>> Yep. Hence the name.
>> And they get quite a bit bigger, too, which is really cool.
>> Those are South American, so we're going to need some fish to match. I got an idea.
>> We do want to put fish in there.
>> Something I live.
>> We'll do some We can do some sharks, maybe an octopus, some jellyfish.
>> See, >> right.
>> I I love >> You got to be You got to think outside the box.
>> Baby freshwater rays and then we'll put them in that >> and we'll have it that way.
>> AI fish. They're so easy to keep.
>> These guys don't eat. What do they eat?
So, what's their diet?
>> Fish.
>> Is it really?
mainly nation.
>> Okay. So, they'll eat the fish we put in or or or obviously >> maybe you know how it works here.
>> So, what we need is a tester fish or two.
>> Yes. To check it out.
>> We're not Yes. We go real cheap first.
>> Yeah.
>> Something fast, I assume.
>> Yes.
>> Oh, these are sweet. These are really cool.
>> All right. So, this wasn't the only thing surprise I had for you today.
There. Nope. There's another surprise, but it's a good one. Come here just for you.
>> I doubt that.
>> So, >> I got to read.
>> We got We got an award today.
>> Oh, sweet.
>> So, Legacy Aquarium Reparium won hidden gem at the Mcome County Business Awards today. Honestly, I know we were nominated but did not expect to win, but yeah, this morning we were presented with that.
And we deserve it.
>> It's been a bit.
>> And I mean, it was out of how many, Melissa?
146. Yeah.
And they chose us.
>> How special and how cool is that?
>> So, how much who do we have to pay for that?
>> That >> Oh, keep my bad. Cut that little >> No, that's sweet.
>> But yeah, I just thought that was a really nice cool surprise.
>> So cool. Yeah, I wanted to try this with you.
>> Now, we need some shelves.
>> That's what I said. Probably like somewhere up here for sure.
>> We'll get a collection of these. I'm assuming this is the first of the few.
>> Yep. Yep. Absolutely. There's a few other different categories that uh I want to try to shoot for. Best place to work, a few other things. So, but yeah.
>> Awesome.
>> Congratulations.
>> Yeah, congratulations to everybody.
That's awesome.
>> But actually, that's not the first time that we won this award. Back in 2020, we were actually nominated and won the hidden gem award for the Mcome County businesses. And you know what's funny about that is we didn't even know. We didn't know we were nominated. We didn't know anything about this way back then.
And one day someone just shows up, knocks on our door, and it's like, "You won an award." I remember how amazing that was that day. Brian and I were so happy. I actually took it. I was like, "This one's going in my office." We had to fight over it. But how cool is that that 6 years later, we actually were nominated again for our new facility and we actually won. I tell you what, guys, I couldn't be prouder for what we have, what we've accomplished. And honestly, the sky's is the limit moving forward.
So, we got a couple things for you.
First off, reptile army.com, you can still get some of this cool merch right there. Yes, you can head over there to get that right now. But then also, we have these awesome pins. This is April's pin of the month club. Obviously, it was Earth Day, so we made it nice. Legacy, Earth Day themed, right? And then here's a little sneak peek. Wow. That's right.
Look at this. That is your May pin. We got beautiful salt right there. Legacy aquarium. She's just chilling in the grass. It's beautiful. This is not available until May 1st. But we just wanted to give you a little bit of a preview of what it will be. So, that one is pretty freaking cool. If you want it, join the pin of the month club. What do you think?
Oh, that's sick. Pin of the month club.
>> Pin of the month. Do I get this one?
>> You got to join the club.
>> Wow, that's so cool. Little salty. It says, "See you later, alligator."
>> That's good. That's good. See you later in honor of >> Okay, that's No, that's not available till May. That's all you get >> to May. That's like days away. No. Oh my goodness. That is >> huge.
That is crazy.
>> So, check it out.
>> So, when this happened?
>> So, this happened last night. Right before we closed, we saw her flip over.
So, we knew. And then this morning, I pulled it out just cuz it's nice and fresh. You can see you can still kind of move the legs. So, I just wanted to lay it flat. Look at that.
>> Look at that. Yeah. All the >> All right. Now, something else really cool. You got to see the size of the bangs.
>> The teeth. Yeah. Let's go see the fangs.
>> Check that out.
What do you think? Like a half an inch?
An inch? They're big.
>> Yeah. I have no idea. I mean, and they are, you know, they curve, too. So, like >> Oh, yeah. Look at that.
>> Touch them. Oh my god.
>> That goes way in there.
>> Gosh.
>> So, not anything I'd ever want to be bit by.
>> No. So, what are you going to do? You're going to pin it?
>> Yeah. So, I'm just going to lay it flat right now. Um, let the legs kind of stay stretched out and dry. And then we'll be able to use this to show everybody. And wait till you see how pretty her gorilla one is.
>> Okay. Yeah. Let's take a look.
>> So, check her out.
>> Wow. She's black.
>> She's black. And then she has those beautiful salmon colored hairs, which is what they're known for.
>> Wow. Okay. Now, is she going to go back to brown as the skin or whatever ages?
>> No. No. She should stay like this. Um, she doesn't mol that much anymore. Just at this size. It's not like she's doing it often. When they're little, it's like every month you get a nice little mulch.
At this size, it's been many months since her last one, maybe. I don't even think she's done it over here at Legacy at all. So, yeah. So, she'll stay nice and pretty like that. I think closer to her next mulch, she'll try to get like start to get dusty looking again, which yesterday, interestingly enough, Jay said, "Hey, come take her out. I want to hold her." And I just pulled her out of the house and I looked and I was like, "Man, she really looks like she wants to mol." She just kind of had like a patchy butt. She looked pretty swollen. So, it was perfect that we left her alone yesterday. We misted it down and then boom, overnight we got a nice, beautiful, perfect mole from her.
>> Yeah, that's awesome. And and as you can see, all those hairs on her new body is so good. Yeah. On her body, >> like how perfect it is.
>> Yeah, it's so nice and hairy and all that. So, definitely leave her alone and just let harden up a little bit.
>> Yeah, for sure. Can't wait to hold her again, though.
>> Yeah. Wow. She's even bigger color.
>> I know. And that's so cool. She's going to stay that black. I I honestly had no idea. I always thought they were just brown like that.
>> Yeah. No, she is absolutely gorgeous.
>> Just found out that we had the Mexican fire leg also molted yesterday. So, I don't know. It's something in the corner. Is this one crazy?
