In the lead-up to the historic US-China summit, China publicly established four non-negotiable 'red lines' that the United States must not cross: Taiwan, democracy and human rights, political systems and development paths, and China's right to development. This strategic positioning demonstrates how major powers use diplomatic framing to establish boundaries in international negotiations, with China signaling that its core positions on sovereignty and development are fixed and non-negotiable, while the US simultaneously maintained its own positions on Iran sanctions and military cooperation.

China Shocks The World, Xi WARNS U.S. Before Historic Summit: 'Don't Touch... OR Else!'Added:
Hours before Donald Trump's plane touched down in Beijing for a summit with President Xi Jinping, China set the terms of the conversation in public. The Chinese Embassy in the United States released a statement outlining four red lines that Washington must not cross.
Taiwan, democracy and human rights, political systems and development paths, and China's right to development. The statement was not subtle and it was not private. It was a message delivered in Washington before the American president had even boarded Air Force One. Designed to frame the summit not as an open negotiation, but as a meeting where Beijing's core positions are already fixed. The red lines were not new, but the timing, hours before the most consequential US-China summit since the trade deal, was a signal that Beijing intended to meet Trump from a position it considers non-negotiable.
Before boarding Air Force One, Trump struck a different tone. He called Xi Jinping a friend and somebody that we get along with. He said good things were going to happen during the visit and described the trip as very exciting.
When asked about Iran, Trump said he planned to discuss it with Xi, but added that the United States does not need help with Iran. He said the US would win one way or the other, peacefully or otherwise. He described Iran's military as effectively finished. Mr. President, what is your message to President Xi as it relates to the Iran war? Well, I think number one, we're going to have a long talk about it.
Uh I think he's been relatively good, to be honest with you.
You look at the blockade, no problem.
Uh they get a lot of their oil from that area. We've had no problem and he's been a a friend of mine. He's been somebody that we get along with.
And uh I think you're going to see that uh good things are going to happen. This is going to be a very exciting trip. A lot of good things are going to happen.
>> Mr. President, do you think he needs to intervene at all with the Iranians? Do you Do you he can help in any way? No, >> don't think we need any help with Iran.
We'll win it one way or the other. We'll win it peacefully or otherwise. Mr. President, do you believe your visit to China will impact of international economy and price of oil?
>> be a positive. We're going to have a very good meeting. I spoke with President Xi.
Uh we look forward We both look forward to the meeting. It's going to be great.
Ceasefire is on life support. Is President Xi the person to bring it back to life? Well, we'll see what happens.
We're going to have a great meeting in China. He's a wonderful guy. He's a friend of mine, and we're going to have a great meeting. We do a lot of business with China. We do very well with China.
And they do well with us, and the relationship is very good. We're going to have a great We are going to have a great meeting.
>> he's got what it takes to convince the Iranians?
>> Whatever he can do to help, we like.
Mr. President Will you be able to talk about the end of the war in Ukraine with the president? I think it's getting very close. The end of the war in Ukraine, I really think it's getting very close.
Will China invest a trillion DOLLARS IN THE US? WILL CHINA WILL CHINA Will China invest a trillion dollars in the US?
When you're negotiating with Iran, Mr. President, to what extent are Americans' financial situation motivating you to make a deal?
Not even a little bit. It The only thing that matters when I'm talking about Iran, they can't have a nuclear weapon.
I don't think about Americans' financial situation. I don't think about anybody. I think about one thing. We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That's all.
That's the only thing that motivates Do you think President Xi can help and contribute to a deal with Iran? He could. I mean, it might be.
I don't think we need any help with Iran, to be honest with you. They're defeated militarily.
And they'll either do the right thing or we'll finish the job.
They're either going to do the right thing or we're just going to finish the job.
The message, sir, to the Chinese people >> [music] >> as you embark on this summit.
That we're going to have a great relationship for many, many decades to come.
Uh my relationship with President Xi is a fantastic one. We've always gotten along, and we're doing very well with China, and working with China's been very good. So, we look forward to it. As you know, President Xi will be coming here toward the end of the year. So, that'll be exciting, too. We have a lot of things to discuss.
Uh I I wouldn't say Iran is one of them, to be honest with you, because we have Iran very much under control. We're either going to make a deal or they're going to be decimated. So, one way or the other, we win. But, we'll be But, we're going to be talking about We're going to be talking with President Xi about a lot of different things. I would say more than anything else, it'll be trade. But, beneath the diplomatic styling, Iran sits directly between the two leaders. China has long maintained strong military and economic ties with Tehran. Iran continues to sell a significant portion of its sanctioned oil exports to Beijing. During the war, the US Treasury sanctioned a Chinese refinery for allegedly purchasing Iranian oil. Washington also sanctioned several Chinese companies accused of doing business with Iran and blacklisted Chinese satellite companies accused of supplying data to Tehran. China has denied providing military aid to Iran.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang responded to the sanctions by saying China firmly opposes illegal unilateral sanctions that lack a basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council.
He said Beijing would firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises. The language is legal. the message is strategic. China is not going to stop buying Iranian oil because Washington tells it to. Trump said the blockade of Iran has been 100% effective and that there have been no problems with China regarding oil flows.
That claim sits in tension with the sanctions the United States has imposed on Chinese entities for allegedly breaching that same blockade. If the blockade were truly operating without Chinese complications, there would be no need to sanction Chinese refineries and satellite companies. The gap between Trump's public framing [music] and the Treasury Department's enforcement actions tells a more complicated story.
China is buying Iranian oil. Washington is sanctioning Chinese companies for it and both sides are arriving at the summit with different accounts of what is actually happening on the ground. We firmly oppose this as there is no basis in international law. Illegal unilateral sanctions not authorized by the UN Security Council. During President Trump's visit to China, the two heads of state will have in-depth exchanges of views on major issues concerning China-US relations as well as world peace and development.
China's position of opposing US arms sales to the Taiwan region of China has always been consistent and clear.
We firmly oppose this as there is no basis in international law. Illegal unilateral sanctions not authorized by the UN Security Council will be met with firm measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of our enterprises and citizens. Regarding the situation in Iran, the top priority is to make every effort to prevent the resumption of hostilities.
Instead of maliciously associating and smearing China, China-US economic ties are mutually beneficial. Both sides should jointly fulfill the presidential consensus.
This will strengthen stability for China-US economic and trade ties and the world economy. For specific issues, check with the relevant Chinese authorities.
Jimmy Lai is a primary mastermind and key organizer of anti-China and Hong Kong destabilization activities.
Hong Kong affairs are strictly China's internal matters.
And the central government of China maintains its unwavering support for the Hong Kong judiciary in performing its legal duties in accordance with the law.
China has already stated its position on this issue multiple times.
As a responsible major country, China has always strictly fulfilled its international obligations and is committed to promoting a ceasefire, facilitating peace, and de-escalating the situation. We oppose baseless accusations that lack factual evidence.
123 Ministry of Health China firmly opposes and strongly condemns the relevant actions by the Pakistani side.
There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory. The one China principle is a fundamental norm in international relations and a universal consensus within the international community. For a long time now, friends from all walks of life in Paraguay have voiced a strong desire to develop relations with China.
According to domestic polls, nearly 90% of Paraguayans support diplomatic relations between China and Paraguay.
This shows that establishing relations with China is in the fundamental and long-term interests of the Paraguayan people.
Collusion with Taiwan's leadership is unpopular and defies public will.
We urge the Paraguayan government to change its course as soon as possible, recognize the prevailing global trend, heed the will of the people, and make the correct political decision to acknowledge the one China principle.
The wheels of history will certainly not wait for any country.
Deviating from the one China principle will only lead to self-isolation from the international community.
