Spencer Pratt's mayoral campaign in Los Angeles demonstrates how political candidates can transcend traditional party lines by addressing systemic frustrations, while simultaneously highlighting the critical contradiction in urban development where cities like Los Angeles face severe housing shortages yet cannot build housing due to complex multi-agency permitting processes that can take years and cost tens of thousands of dollars, ultimately threatening real estate profitability through extended carrying costs.

Spencer Pratt represents 'MORE THAN JUST POLITICS,' LA realtor saysAdded:
All right. Now, here's more of what Spencer Pratt had to say on on Fox and Friends this morning.
>> I'm a registered Republican, but my supporters are all Democrats because Los Angeles is all Democrats. All the people financing me are Democrats. All the meetings I take every day are Democrats.
Democrats are very angry with what happened in Los Angeles. They were fed a bunch of lies by Mayor Bass. I have Republicans that love me. I have Democrats that love me. I have independents that love me. Even some socialists message me and they're like, "Hey, don't be so mean to us. We like you, too." I'm like, "Sorry, I I don't mess with socialists."
>> [laughter] >> I like that one. A real estate reality star, Josh Altman, is with us this morning. All right, Josh, last time you were on the show you endorsed Pratt.
He's coming on strong. Do you think he's got a real chance?
>> I do. I I think he's got a real chance.
I know it's an uphill battle because of where we live, Stuart, but it's doable, and the numbers back it up. I mean, when you look at it First of all, three or four days go by, and I get a text every three or four days saying, "Let's do a fundraising event." And that's not just people in real estate, that's people in the entertainment business. That's small business owners throughout the throughout the city that are frustrated.
And the numbers speak for itself. You got Spencer Pratt who came in and raised $2.8 million in, you know, six or seven weeks, where the mayor it took 2 years for her to do that. So, people are are backing him big time. People are backing him. Listen, Spencer Pratt represents something more than just politics. He represents frustration with the system. He has become the voice of the people.
And there's still a lot of people who are out there undecided, but I will tell you what's most surprising with this whole race, Stuart, is the AI approach has really been incredible. I was in Australia last week for a keynote speech, and they're talking about this race in Australia. And they're talking about the videos, the AI videos that people are putting out there that he's reposting. They're incredible and in my opinion, what we're seeing here for the first time ever is an AI-powered mayor race for the first time. I think he's got a great shot and I think he's coming close.
>> God, this is fun, isn't it? Now, you you brought us a story which I find fascinating. After 4 years and $73,000 in trying to get permits, there's an LA architect, he still hasn't even broken ground 4 years later. Is is it All he's planning is a 1,400 square foot home.
That's not a big house. Josh, what's going on here? So, does nothing changes, does it?
>> Sell it. Sell it. Get out now with with that development. That's insane, but I've heard that before. But look, the real issue here is the biggest contradiction in real estate. LA needs more housing. We have a housing shortage, but we can't build the housing. How does that work? That's not going to be a success.
And and you know, when you're building a house here and and you look at the different departments you have to go to from the Coastal Commission to the environmental agencies, LADBS, City Planning, whatever it may be, it's just become this absolute nightmare.
It's bottlenecked. Every petition every person is is seeing it across the board.
It doesn't matter which way of the aisle you lean on here. And you look at the Palisades, you look at the Eaton fire areas. There's been 13 houses that have been finished. I'm not surprised to hear that this guy is having these issues.
But also, when you build on hillside, you are going to run into that. But look, money, time is money in real estate. Deals either get made or they get broken on carrying costs. And if you can't build in a year, year and a half, 2 years, your profit's gone.
>> Yeah, I can see that. Josh, always a pleasure to have you on the show. You know what you're talking about. We appreciate it. Thanks so much, Josh Altman. Thanks for having me. Okay.
