This episode explores the concept of naval sovereignty through the perspective of British warships, highlighting the strategic importance of maintaining independent military capabilities. The narrative discusses how nations like Britain have become dependent on foreign military technology (American aircraft families), raising concerns about national security and self-sufficiency. The story emphasizes that true sovereignty requires not just military strength but also the ability to maintain one's own technological capabilities, as demonstrated through the contrast with France's Rafale program and the historical context of the British Empire's global fleet.

Museum Girls Fleet Maneuvers - Season Two - Episode Three - The Cool AuntAdded:
Hm? Oh, hello again. Would you like a piece of my sandwich?
Here you go.
Hey, hey you, new Shizuka. Huh? You mean me? Sure I mean you, mate. I'm Vampire.
Nice to meet you. Oh, you're a vampire.
Lady Bismark and Lady New Jersey told me about you. Good things, I'm sure.
>> Kind of 50/50, to be honest.
>> Tossers, but [music] anyhoo, delighted to finally say hello to ya. Shizuka, right? That's me, yes. How can I help you? Oh, I'm not needing any help, mate.
I just thought I'd pop in for a chat is all. I saw you feeding the sky rat.
[music] You mean Mr. Gull Gull? He's a good boy, but he's going to get fat if he keeps eating so much people food.
Lies! The sky rats are evil! Evil creatures that do evil things, LIKE POOP ON MY DECK.
>> You just have to get to know them.
>> [music] >> They aren't bad, just misunderstood.
Boy, you sure are an odd one. I just like animals. You do? Mate, we Australians are all about wildlife.
>> Except seagulls, apparently. The evil ones are an exception, but everything else is fine. Want to go see some more animals? I know an aquarium nearby, and there's even a pet store.
>> [music] >> That does sound nice, but but I'm not supposed to go anywhere by myself. I'll be with you, mate.
>> I should still ask Lady Bismark first.
Sure, sure. [screaming] Hey, hey Bismark, I'm going to take Shizuka out on the town, yeah? You're going to do what now? Miss Vampire says there's an aquarium and a pet store where I can see more animals. And I thought it might be fun to take her. New friend, new activities. [music] Come on, mate, can I? Please? Well, if she wants to. I do.
All right.
Just stick with vampire, [music] okay?
And let me be very, very clear.
If anything happens to her, I will slowly and painfully compress your hull to the size of a tin can and toss you in the Mariana Trench.
Understood?
Crystal, mate. Good. Have fun.
Must be nice to have a battleship looking out for you. I seem to have endeared myself to both her and Lady New Jersey. Oh, great. So, both will kill me if you so much as trip.
>> I have excellent balance. I sure hope so.
Well, little mate, this trip is for you.
What would you like to see first? I am partial to the deep-water species, the ones I can't normally see in the ocean.
I can stay [music] under the surface for a while, but I can't swim very deep.
Weird, deep and dark critters, this way.
Uh What you thinking about? I'm wondering if these fish know they're not in the deep ocean anymore.
>> [music] >> Do they consider that?
Or do they just not notice? That Well, that uh Huh.
Interesting question. Do they have seals? Yeah, I think so. I like seals.
To the seals.
>> [music] >> I think they like you. I guess so. Seals are quite intelligent, like dogs of the ocean. They even kind of look like good boys.
>> These are girls. Good girls.
We get some pretty big sharks like these in the oceans back home. I don't doubt it.
>> [music] >> Great hammerhead sharks are the largest of their group. Never see them in deep water, though. They [music] are coastal hunters.
They prefer moderately shallow water with a lot of light to take advantage of their good vision. You sure know a lot about animals. I like to read about the ones I can't touch. What about the ones you can touch? Pet store time? Yes. I believe I would like that.
Oh my. I've never seen some these species. I might have neglected to mention that it's an exotic pet store, mate. Wonderful. I think I'd like to look around. Take your time.
See anything you like? I like them all.
I mean, do you see any you'd like to have around all the time to look after?
Huh, you You mean you get me a pet?
Sure. You care so much about animals. I reckon you'd be a great pet mom. It would be nice, yes. [music] But I don't want to impose. Nonsense. I may not know your story, but I get the impression you could use some more things to smile about, yeah?
Yes. Well, go on. Pick something. All right.
Um Um how about that one? That? Wait, really? [music] She looks like she needs a friend. Can't argue with that logic. Let's go talk with one of the clerks. Better make sure we get everything we need so you can take great care of her. Thank you, Vampire. You're so welcome, mate.
Would you stop pacing around? I'm sure they're just fine. You may be sure, but I am not. Vampire is eccentric, but not irresponsible. Isn't she? Okay, maybe a bit, but not with other people's lives.
I suppose so. Huh? Oh, there they are.
See, I told you they'd be Hm?
>> [music] >> Hey there, mates. We're back. Look. Look what Miss Vampire bought me.
An octopus? Seriously? [music] Her name is Silla. She's a sweet girl. How much did all this cost? Relax, mate. Cost was not an issue. Where did you get the money, Vampire? Shh. No worries, mate.
>> Who the hell put thousands of dollars in pet supplies on my credit card? Do you mind if I keep her in my room, Lady Bismark? She stays in her tank and doesn't make any noise.
Well, >> [music] >> as long as you're taking care of her.
Oh, yes. I will make her the happiest octopus on the planet. Very well. Thank you.
>> [music] >> Ask me next time. Okay, vampire? Oh, come on. You can't say no to her face.
>> Not [music] the point.
>> Right, right. Everything go okay otherwise? Yeah, she had fun. Good.
[music] Thank you for taking her out today. Anytime. She's a delight.
>> Vampire, where is my credit card?
>> Uh-oh. Bye, Bismark.
Get back here, you little thief.
>> You'll never take me alive.
>> Good, cuz you're dead.
>> It was for a good cause.
>> Like hell it was.
>> [music] >> So, I tried instructing them on the positive benefits of giving me catapults. No dice? [music] No dice. I swear, it's like they forgot we're supposed to be the Royal Navy, Britain's immaculate fleet. But, all I can carry right now are American plane girls. Do you have any idea how strange it feels to depend on a foreign power to defend my own nation? The Lightning II family not working out well? Don't get me wrong. They are a delight, capable, and I am happy to work with them. But, even France can proudly say they still craft their own military. Lady Charles de Gaulle works wonders with the Rafale family, and she has catapults. Sure, they have some American girls, too, but the point is that they do not need them should there be an international crisis.
My sister and I are, at present, completely dependent on American plane families. [music] We don't even make Harriers now, one of our proudest achievements, nor did we attempt to develop a replacement family.
It's nerve-racking. [music] I swear, the government doesn't know what the word sovereignty even means anymore. I'm sorry it troubles you. I wish I could help. Having someone to listen to my griping is a plus.
I suppose I can't complain. At least I have a sister. Most carrier girls that aren't American [music] wind up as only children. Yeah, though I personally was an only child [music] myself. Huh? Oh, right. You were. I totally forgot about that. Yeah, I was too expensive even for my nation. So, [music] they canceled my sisters and instead built the Nimitz class. They always treated me like a sister [music] even though we're only cousins. Still, you have such a large navy.
Sometimes I wish we were still an empire.
Had a fleet on a global scale back then.
Now, we ask you lot for everything and you know, that reminds me. I should probably let you in on something so you can inform Lady Bismarck. What is it? To be clear, this is super classified information. I'm not supposed to tell you, but I think you all should know.
Will you get in trouble? The bloody hell are they going to do? Fire me? Huh.
Yeah, good point. Once had a captain threaten to throw me in the brig. My own brig.
I reminded him of this fact and he dropped the subject. Anyone that doesn't treat us like the ladies we are should never be our captain.
But anyway, this is about Arkhangelsk.
As you can imagine, we attempted to locate the site of her wreck and possibly recover her remains or at least confirm her nuclear reactors are safely contained. Right, that makes sense.
Well, we couldn't find her. No trace at all.
So, of course, we called up you lot for some help and naturally you came running like you always do. That sounds like modern America, yes. Your navy brought in their most sophisticated equipment to complement our own. Searched all over the sea floor.
And they couldn't find her either.
Murphey flood.
What? They suspect that she she may still be alive. There was no debris trail, no sign of her whatsoever.
She simply isn't there, which is highly alarming. Watch yourselves, okay? We will. I'll make sure Bismark is aware.
