Doctors warn of Benadryl overdose social media trend

[00:00:00]Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth reporting an increase in visits because of overdoses involving an over-the-counter medication. Doctors are warning parents out there about this social media challenge that's going around. This one encourages kids to take large amounts of Benadryl. Not a good idea. In just the last 6 months, the emergency department at Cook Children's tells us that they have seen more than 100 patients because of Benadryl overdose. One of those cases ended in a death. Dr. Stephanie Felton says open communication with your kids can help save lives.

[00:00:33]Talk to your children. I think that's the biggest thing. These are hard conversations, but just talk to them. Be aware of what they're dealing with, their environments, what they're looking at, what they're watching too. And then also just ask them. Ask them questions, direct questions. I think that is huge.
