[00:00:00]I believe that the wrong soul ties will kill you. The enemy's agenda in that is to take you out. This is not games anymore. I've made some bad decisions in my life. Just some areas where I was naive in my understanding of the spiritual realm and where my desire to want to have community and people and leadership and all of those things that we should want to have that should be normal to have. by the way, because they were not God ordained. So many of them, it led me into so much bondage. You feel heavy. You feel weighed down. You feel there is just something tethering you somewhere that you are not meant to be tethered. You feel fractured all the time. You feel fragmented all the time.

[00:00:44]That like there are parts of you that you've given away in other places that you should not be giving them away to.

[00:00:50]If that is you, you may have a soul tie.

[00:00:52]And I want to talk about three areas that the Lord breaking soul ties in. It says in 3 John 1:2, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way, that your body may keep well, even as I know your soul keeps well and prospers." And the Hebrew word for soul is nephesh.

[00:01:09]It's described as life. It's what creatures are knit with that enables them to have life, but it's also described as being knit, joined, or cleaving to something. So your soul is this part of you because you're a triune being made up of your body, made up of your spirit and made up of your soul, which also is your intellect, your emotions, your feelings. It's that your desires, your wants, all of those things. But your soul needs to be surrendered to the spirit in order for you to be in health. That God wants you to be in complete health in body, soul, and spirit. And all of those three areas intersect and they converge. And so many times when we're praying for people and they get set free in the area of their soul, they get set free in the area of sickness in their body because there is sometimes attachments to those things.

[00:01:55]Stepping into a place of allowing the Lord to realign you in your soul, your thoughts, your mindsets, those things are realign you back with the spirit of God. It says in Romans 8, those who are led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God. It doesn't say those who are led by the soul realm are the sons and daughters of God. And so right now, God is dealing with where we as the church have not been really in a place of surrender to the spirit. We've created our own God, our own gospel, our own ways, our own methods. We've gone and cherrypicked the Bible to what aligns with our comfortable Christian life. And it's not really working well for a lot of people. In 2026, a lot of people are realizing that religion that I was fed, that culture I was a part of, it made me feel special. It made me feel part of a club. It made me feel I was doing my Christian service, but it did nothing to bring me transformation. If anything, I was being milkfed and babysat for a long time. And so, the harsh reality of this moment for so many in the body of Christ is, wow, I need some work done. I'm not dealing with this season where it feels like everything's up in the air. I I don't know what my belief system is anymore. A lot of people are falling away from the faith. A lot of people are deconstructing. And all I want to say this to you, don't deconstruct. Fall at the feet of Jesus. Okay. And if this is you and you're carrying a lot of soul junk and right now you feel fragmented, you feel pulled in every different direction, that's God actually highlighting that you need some healing and deliverance. And that shouldn't be a dirty word. This should be where we as Christians go, "Okay, God, I didn't realize I was carrying this stuff. I'm now just going to surrender now. Clean me up." That's what God did to me all those years ago. That I was in demonic bondage, guys. I was literally walking around in demonic bondage. I was experiencing crazy spiritual stuff. I was not in a good place. I was going to church on Sundays, but I this is in my teens, but I was walking around so in so much bondage. I was hearing demonic voices, demonic attack, demonic dreams in bands and stuff. I was writing lyrics that were demonic lyrics. It was like I was living in between these two camps.

[00:04:00]And the enemy loved it and I was in such bondage because of it. But the day that I got set free, the day that I I realized I couldn't live like this anymore, God began to set me free. And all it came down to was God, I surrender my life to you. And as Christians, we we say that all the time. It becomes this throwaway phrase. But really, it's where Jesus, you are the you are the only Lord and Savior of my life and everything else must go because whatever is the God of your soul is going to be the thing that you serve. And then it enable it.

[00:04:26]What happens is is when you serve more than one god, there's some other comfort, some other idol in your life.

[00:04:32]It actually divides you. And so that division, it makes you double-minded and actually allows the enemy, it gives him an open door to bring lies, manipulation, and counterfeits in your life that lead you away from God's purpose and plan for your life. And I'll never forget this one Sunday I was at church. I had this crazy vision. I was sitting there closing my eyes because the worship was really hard to enter into. It just felt kind of, you know, kind of robotic. I'm sure you've been in one of those those services. But I was like, I'm here. I'm in the house of God.

[00:05:00]I'm with all these Christians. And I'm singing this song. It was all about God.

[00:05:03]You know, we are revival. Revival is coming. And I'm like, yeah, that's right. We are revival. But then as I closed my eyes, I went into this vision and it was the Lord was showing me this.

[00:05:12]This is wild. I saw all everyone around me and they were had my eyes closed, but I could see them all around me and they were all made of like glass or water.

[00:05:20]And I've had this experience before where the Lord showed me this when I've prayed for people. He showed me like people almost like see-through like water and I I see what's what needs to be healed or or whatever it might be.

[00:05:31]But it was a long time ago I had that last and I'm seeing all these people and there was oppression. There was bondage and I saw situations like marriage problems um you know problems with with uh with kids all these different things that people were contending for. People needed deliverance there. And I remember just feeling this injustice of God when are they going to get set free? When are we going to stop coddling demons? When are we actually going to start to be the church that sets people free? You know, I remember just feeling just really frustrated. Here we are singing this song, but people need ministry right now. They don't need a song. They need ministry right now. They need people laying hands on them. They need people walking them through healing and deliverance. But then it didn't stop there. The Lord began to show me all these ropes that were tying people and they were like around their legs and they they were going to different people in the room and people out of the room.

[00:06:15]They was like going out of the building.

[00:06:16]I remember thinking, "What is this?"

[00:06:18]Instantly I was like that's a soul tie.

[00:06:20]These are soul ties. I'm like my understanding of soul ties at the time was very limited. But I was like God I understand you know the what a soul is.

[00:06:28]I understand that as an act of our will we can be in ties with people but I I don't understand the mechanics of that.

[00:06:35]Like I guess you've just shown me a little bit of it like the we're literally in bondage. If it's not you it's bondage. And that really was the key right there. And the Lord began to take me on this journey of showing me how we can actually bring ourselves into bondage in the area of our soul. And it's mainly to people, but I also want to say to many people out there right now, we're in a season that so many are walking out of seasons of church, out of ministry. Even just the changing state of the church is so drastic right now.

[00:07:04]Many people have been attached to old assignments and to moves or even moves of God. There are people here in Orange County that they're always talking about what God did. and I'm grateful for what God did here and I'm the new kid on the block here. I'm grateful. We better be seeing God do something fresh and I don't want to sit around talking about what God did. But when you can actually create almost like your your soul, you can actually create ties to old assignments, those old babies you birth, you know, some of those things from years ago, people that like they're so holding on to their ministries like, "Oh, I b this. I it was painful." I get it. The things you've walked through, you don't want to give away. I get it.

[00:07:40]But that's this life. We we're not in this for us. We have to surrender those things to the Lord. And soul ties are something that we as Christians need to be more aware of and we should be stocktaking a lot more often in our life so that we are actually our best selves so that we can what? We can prosper. We can be healthy in soul. That's what God wants for you. And even right now, the Holy Spirit's already beginning to heal people. Even right now, people are beginning to cry. If that's you, say, "God, I want that. I want to be free in my soul. If I've if I've given away something I'm not meant to give away. If I've been fragmented in soul even right now as Nate's speaking, Holy Spirit, come and bring me back together. Make me whole in the name of Jesus. And so I want to quickly share with you three areas of godly soul ties so that I can share with you the three counterfeits of those soul ties that are right now killing people. Okay? When I when I say killing people, I mean the enemy is trying to take you out. It happened to me even recently. This is something that for me has come out of a very painful thing that I walk through. Authentic soul ties, biblical soul ties. Okay? You don't want anyone saying to me, Nate, that wasn't bib. This is biblical stuff.

[00:08:49]Okay? Three designed strongholds.

[00:08:52]I should say soul ties cuz the God thing is not a stronghold. It is a healthy thing. And there are such things as healthy soul ties. The first one is a covenant friendship soul tie. God bond.

[00:09:05]It is. It's a covenant. We don't really know what covenant is anymore because we've called it all these other words and we've weakened it. We need to bring back true covenant. There are a lot of people out there that are isolated. A lot of people like ourselves for so many years were lone rangers in ministry. I think we're still kind of considered the the castoffs of ministry. We get called you're a par ministry, you're a this, you're that. And I'm like well not by design or choice. God just has us out of the fringe. We're not part of mega networks or mega conglomerate churches.

[00:09:33]God has us in this kind of fringe place and we tend to attract a lot of the people that have been in that place almost maybe like Dave in the cave of Dullum except I'm not discontented. I love the local church but God just has us in that place. And it's also where God puts the sons of Issachar that are between the the sheepfolds as they say which means we're the ones created for the in between seasons the transition to lead the church into who they're called to be. So many people out there, don't let that stigma steal your voice or steal your purpose in this season.

[00:10:03]Covenant needs to come back. Okay, the example of this is Jonathan and David.

[00:10:07]Okay, you know what I love about the story of Jonathan and David is you have David being pursued and attacked by Saul. Okay, and God's remedy or solution to that was Jonathan. It's like in the lack of covenant because we'll talk about this soon, but David and Saul had a covenant. They had and David speaks about that. That's why David couldn't kill Saul when he had the chance cuz of what a covenant. So, there was soul tie there as well. We'll talk about that in the third one. But in the breach of that covenant, Jonathan came and he filled that void. He filled that gap with a even greater loyalty to David. I want I want to read something to you. It's 1st Samuel 20. And he I think it's said like two or three times where Jonathan says, "The Lord will be between you and me and between my descendants and your descendants forever." Wa. This is powerful stuff. This is what Jonathan did to bring healing to David when he was exposed. I want to tell you guys the story. This is one of the most powerful moments of healing in my life. I still don't understand it. Many years ago, I went through a very deep betrayal with a brother. I mean, it was so deep. So deep. And I didn't see it coming. That was the part that I was really upset about. Like I remember when it was finally realized for what it was. I I was so deeply grieved because I'd led my family into this relationship. It wasn't just wasn't just me. And I felt just so stupid. I didn't want to do ministry. I didn't want to do anything anymore. I said, "I can't be trusted." I remember thinking that. I'm like, "God, if I can't see this kind of stuff, like, what's the point of even using me? I'm I'm I should be I'm" I'm just like, "God, like, you got the wrong guy."

[00:11:49]Who's ever said that? I've said that so many times. Like, God, I think you got the wrong guy. Like, and I had discernment. I got red flags, but I wrote them off because why the proximity? When someone's really close to you, you sometimes don't realize you like they're when things are going wrong, you're getting warfare around you, you kind of take them off your, you know, your sus list. You're like, "That can't be them." you know, and that was the situation in the absolute depths of this betrayal and the pain of it. And I went and met up with a good friend of mine who didn't have any idea about this. Okay? And he' just done 14 years of this uh this martial arts thing, and it was a non-demonic one, by the way, guys. People get upset about that. been done 14 years and we met up with them for lunch and he brought this belt and the Lord said to him to give me his belt that he'd worked for 14 years to get and he's like I don't know what you've just been through cuz I hadn't told him yet but I need to give you my belt and I just begin to cry. I don't even know why I'm crying and I start to tell him what just happened and he goes stand up. I said what? He goes, "We're swapping jackets." And I had like a like a bomber on or something like that. And he had this epic suit jacket kind of thing on.

[00:13:00]And I'm not really a suit guy, but this this was cool. We switched jackets right there at this restaurant. It was the weirdest thing. I felt healing balm just like the Lord. I'm this this is what's God doing? This is this is the Lord. I feel his presence. And we prayed and they prayed over us. It was it was a powerful moment. And then I went home and I read that scripture talked about how Jonathan gave David I think it was his ephod he gave him wasn't his jacket because they didn't have jackets but he gave him his garment and he gave him his belt. There was something else as well that I'm not remembering right now and I went my goodness Jonathan was the healing balm for David. John that act of covenant brought healing to the broken covenant. And you know I've grown up seeing broken covenant. I'm I'm the product of broken covenants in marriage.

[00:13:47]I grew up, my dad left when I was four.

[00:13:49]I've seen broken covenant my whole life.

[00:13:52]I've seen people that will say one thing and then do another with like just I know a broken covenant and the fruit of broken and covenant is so much pain and misery especially for the children. I've seen that my whole life. So I know what covenant does when it's not done well.

[00:14:11]And the Lord was showing me in this situation, this is what true covenant does. And it brings healing. It brings restoration. So that is what an authentic biblical soul tie really is.

[00:14:22]It's a spiritual strengthening and a covenant that literally is like it's a godly yoking that literally pulls that other person up higher. Okay. And then we also know that the other number two soul tie is a marriage soul tie. Genesis 2 where it speaks about two becoming one flesh. Those two souls coming. So if you're married those two souls become one. And so that's really what the ultimate covenant with is I think the ultimate covenant is with God obviously.

[00:14:49]Then there's the covenant of marriage.

[00:14:51]But it's interesting because Jonathan said the Lord will be between me and you. So a soul tie is really the Lord and this is probably the distinction I'll get to. If the Lord didn't ordain that soul tie, what is between you and that person? I believe it's a I I believe it's almost a space the enemy can use. If the Lord didn't create that soul tie, what is between you and that person? you've created out of your will what is in between what is create what is in there that the enemy and that is what I believe bondage and uh and strongholds are actually created in that space that God is meant to fill in that place that's why when we actually break our soul ties we're like God now fill us like God I don't want any room any space for the enemy at all when people get delivered set free when that house gets cleaned out we don't want seven times worse coming so we're like God fill that with your spirit God you know and the third one is the father mentor father or mental soul tie is a real thing cuz we look at David and Saul. But you also think about Elijah and Elisha. There was a covenant or a soul tie there. There was a inheritance because you can only inheritance can only be passed down through that way of like lineage, spiritual lineage. And so when you are have somebody that God has brought you into their life for you to father or you're brought into a covenant with somebody where they're going to father or mentor you, it is a soul tie that God God has ordained. I've actually had only very few in my life that God has ordained and it's been where beautiful and godly. And I searched for years for fathers in the church and I never found any. I got hurt. I got abused. I got rejected. so many things that I've never talked about that I've walked through in those situations and just painful because I was looking for that. I was looking for that covenant, but I was willing to bend the rules to make it happen because I wanted it so bad that I was essentially not letting God bring it to me. And a lot of people do this and even there's a religious expectation for us to do this. You go into a church, that person's now your but God didn't always ordain it to be like that. I'm I'm a massive believer in like, you know, when it's a godly thing, you submit to leaders and authority and all those kinds of things, but that doesn't mean we do it on default. Like, that's not automatic. You don't just go every, you know, you don't just walk into any room and go, "All right, I guess you're, you know, you're you're a senior. I'm going to just submit to you. Anything you say goes and I'm going to forsake my thing to do whatever." That's not how that's that's spiritual stupidity. So, they're the three healthy ways that we're meant to have soul ties or covenant with people. Now, these are the three ways. Holy Spirit just said to me, you've got to say this. Some of you have been in coverings that have not been God. Some of you have been in coverings, church coverings, ministry coverings, whatever have not been God. It's been a manipulation, control, and gaslighting of your calling. Right now, you're feeling conviction of the Holy Ghost.

[00:17:40]You know exactly what I'm talking about.

[00:17:42]That is the root. Our areas of insecurities are areas of weakness. The enemy will try to come after us to create soul ties that then fragment us and destroy our callings. Okay, moving on. Moving on. You know what I'm talking about. Okay, so the three counterfeit soul ties are just the flip of the first three. The first one, instead of instead of friendship, instead of friends like the Jonathans, we have familiar soul ties. And I say this because familiar spirits is the way those soul ties come in. Okay, familiar spirits, okay? They form through family, close friendships, workplace relationships, or long long-term friendships. Okay, familiarity. Okay, it's meant to be friends, but they're actually people that are trying to assume assume a space cuz we've got history with them, whatever it might be. And unhealthy dynamics then become normal. Okay? Why?

[00:18:32]Because the relationship feels familiar.

[00:18:34]Okay? And when it becomes familiar, we then refuse to see the red flags and we fail to recognize the bondage. That is that's always what happens. It's happened to us many times before. And we we love these people. We actually form a dependency. Codependent relationships.

[00:18:51]That's that's I guess the that's what happens in codependent relationships. We we love these people. We don't want them to be we don't want to let them go. And so we put up with the man manipulation.

[00:19:01]We overlook the control. And because there's emotional dependency, they're on our side and on their side. A lot of the times the the it's more sinister coming from the other side because we we're actually the the one that's being um the enemy's using them to rob us. So we're being raided. We're being sabotaged. And we begin to realize that hang on a second, something is not right. I remember the Lord giving me this analogy just a few weeks ago even. I was sharing it with some of our students about imagine being in a hospital bed next to a friend. You're hooked up to an IV, but to their IV. So all of your IV is linked up together. That's like what a soul tie is with a person you're not meant to be in a soul tie with. Their blood work becomes your blood work. Their spiritual bondage becomes your spiritual bondage.

[00:19:49]Their sin becomes your sin. Their habits, their alignments or wrong alignments become your alignments. We've been in relationship with people before cuz we thought that we're genuinely just helping people. We're going to help them. and we're wondering why we're taking hits for people for their mistakes. Have you ever been in those situations? We have many times. And Christie and I are praying people. We love getting around people and we've suddenly swept up into someone's drama simply because we are praying for them and we realize, hang on, we've overstepped the mark and we've allowed them to step over a boundary that we weren't meant to allow them to because we love them. They're not they're not evil. They're not doing No, they're not evil. We don't wrestle flesh and blood.

[00:20:26]I get it. But we keep overriding the red flags because we want people. We want to be loved. The orphan spirit will keep you on that merrygoround. I'm telling you that one of the areas, I'll be so completely honest. One of the more recent ones that I didn't see coming came through the fact that I just wanted people in my life. Ministry life's lonely, guys. You know this. Church life can be lonely. You just want people. But then I just didn't want to see the red flags. Okay. That's This is what happens. Okay. All right. So that's our first one. And if you've been in those kind of codependent relationships with people where it's like suddenly the warfare is just non-stop. And these people always wanting info from you, by the way. They're always it's like they they're just feeding off your life, the anointing on your life, the fresh thing got that they're just going to absolutely harvest that for their own benefit. And you're wondering what is going on? How come I'm around them?

[00:21:19]Suddenly my bank account's going down, my health is going down, everything is ruined. That's exactly why. And that's you. Please pay attention. There's there's a few more I want to share. The next one is it could just be an extension of the first, but this is what I call um like a counterfeit covenant ties or I could say maybe it's it's like the counterfeit version of marriage.

[00:21:39]Okay, but I want to say it in this context. Maybe for some people this is al also where you know you're in you're in a sexual relationship outside of marriage that can definitely create spiritual bonding and assult tie that where the enemy will bring he'll bring all their junk on you. I don't need to explain this one. You not you guys get this. This is where right now the enemies can try to use other people's mess and other people's junk to get on your life when you're meant to be pure.

[00:22:05]Okay. But this is the main part of what I believe is a counterfeit aspect of this covenant tie and that is trauma bonding. That is where we create soul ties with people that have been through similar situations or circumstances.

[00:22:19]They get us David David in the cave of a dullum. He's down there. He's hurting.

[00:22:23]He's he's been he's been slandered. He's been attacked. He's been pursued his whole life. Trauma bonding. We create our people. We create our tribe. We create our pack based on trauma. We create our groups. Some people even get married to trauma bonds and then they're like, "Whoa." God begins to heal them up and it's like, "Whoa, what's going on?"

[00:22:41]It's changed the whole game. I'll never forget many years ago, my brother, like when I got completely set free, um, I went through a season of forgiveness and I I just healed a I mean, I just healed me from a bunch of things. My brother and I, we had a trauma bond. Our brotherhood was all about trauma bonding. And when I got set free, he was mad at me because there was no longer that bond there. There was nothing now to talk about. I was set free. And it didn't make sense to him. I wanted to give him that. I wanted to see him walk through that same thing. And you know, obviously it didn't work out very well.

[00:23:09]We we separated for a bunch of years.

[00:23:11]And so these are the things that happen through the wrong kinds of soul ties.

[00:23:15]And you can even gather around people like I'll never forget years ago um you know that people will branch off and they'll come at you and they'll gather their little posy of people together that are in trauma bonding against you.

[00:23:27]And those things can happen as well.

[00:23:29]That really is the the warning for us is not to create soul ties with people because of trauma bonds. There's also obsessive and addictive relationships.

[00:23:39]Those who's got those familiar spirit friends, they all text on the same day you're going through warfare. I'm talking they want info from you and you get the five, six texts. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Be aware of those people, okay? Because that means there's some kind of either a trauma bond soul tie or there's familiar spirits at work and they're all picking up on the same frequency and they're going to message you on the same day trying to get info and it's just going to bring more witchcraft to you. That really is this soul ties open you up to the demonic. Soul ties if not treated, if not dealt with, become strongholds.

[00:24:12]Okay, that's exactly how this works.

[00:24:15]Soul ties become strongholds. Okay. And that's exactly how this works. The third one here is false authority soul ties.

[00:24:24]Okay. They are the father figures. They are the leader figures. And there's a lot of really great ones out there.

[00:24:29]Okay? Like I said, but they are the souls. Okay? They're the ones that want to put their armor on you. They're the ones that want you to they want to control you or to model you and to mold you into something you're not meant to be. They're the ones that operate out of fear-based loyalty. They're the ones that you you better say the right things, do the right things. And the moment they realize you're a threat to them, that you begin to excel. You begin to go higher than them. They're now suddenly no longer a father, no longer a protective, they're going to be your greatest enemy. Okay? And and why does it hurt so bad is because you've allowed it because you've entered into covenant with it. David, perfect example. Said this many times, David and Saul, he went into that scenario. It was actually a god- ordained one to be honest with you obviously. But it turned bad because why? Cuz Saul broke the covenant. So we actually get to witness both the healthy. There was a point at one stage it was actually a God- ordained thing, but it turned into something it was not meant to be because of Saul's decision act of his will. And so that's where we come into relationship with fathers or people that are meant to be protective.

[00:25:35]And we by default we step into that religious pressure to okay I submit you know I do that thing I step under your authority or whatever and it's not god ordained and it brings bondage it puts a ceiling over your head is the best way but it actually brings a level of mental anguish and b I'm telling you so many people I believe that one of the greatest tests of of probably any believer but especially prophetic people worshippers people that are really on the front lines people that are really called to be like the David's They will always have a soul season. And just comment below if like I've been through a soul season. You've got to break that. So right now, let me just quickly make this really clear. The three soul ties that are trying to kill you in this season are the familiar soul ties. Right now, God's even dealing with areas of friends from your past, family, okay? Long the familiarity of people around you. God's dealing with some people even in your core group right now that you're like, why why didn't I see that before? God's reshuffleling some things. This has been the last year God's been really exposing some things.

[00:26:36]And then the second one is where the Lord's actually dealing with your own stuff. He's dealing with your own trauma and where you actually created some convenient uh crutches in your life, soul ties because of well, I get that from them. I get so maybe it's it's on you as well. Like we've got to address this for what it really is. And then the third thing is where it comes down to where we've been in allegiance or in a toll a tie to the wrong fathers or the wrong figures. And so if that is you, how do you deal with that? This is how you deal with it. So if that is you right now, just say, "Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit, come." We're just going to quickly pray. If the Holy Spirit's brought conviction to you, say, "Lord, I just repent for entering into those wrong counterfeits, those soul ties. I repent for making decisions about who I'm connecting myself to, who I'm knitting myself to, because that really is what a soul tie is. It's knitting yourself to somebody. God, I'm sorry for knitting my heart and my life to other people. There are even people right now you're like feeling really stupid because you knit yourself to somebody in a kingdom, a kingdom way, a mission, a movement, a ministry, and you just saw where it was robbing you. There are people out there right now that you keep giving yourself away. You keep casting your pearls. You keep allowing people to take and rob from you. You forfeit your own calling for the sake of propping other people up. And the Lord's like, "They're not anointed to do that. This is what I've given you, and you keep giving it away. You keep giving yourself away because you don't believe in yourself. You keep disqualifying yourself and it's cheapening the anointing on your I've paid so much to anoint you to call you to you for you to walk in that level of authority and power and you keep allowing those people to take it from you. But hear the Lord saying this is going to be a season that you're going to be whole again. Now right now say Lord make me whole again as an act of my will. I break every soul tie that has not been ordained by you.

[00:28:37]every contract, every covenant that I made that was not ordained by you, God.

[00:28:41]Sever and break it now. Immerse it under the blood in the name of Jesus. Maybe you need to even mention that person.
